Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Rumors today about The Arse again
Some say that Fab is 99% out of the door but Wenger still insists that no one is leaving
A new rumor is that Arsenal are asking for a sort of swap deal with Citeh. Nasri for Tevez
Would Tev be a good ft at the Em?
Morning, UWS! Thanks for starting us off. I'll be around until about 11am when I need to hop in the car and burn down the road to join Someone Said in Columbus.
To answer your question, I don't think that Arsenal need another short forward. If they're going to splash out the cash, which I think they should (they've only just sold Cesc and Nasri; they've got plenty of dosh!) they should be buying Phil Jagielka and Scottie Parker.
Tevez wouldn't hurt though!
I am off to the hospital
Have a safe trip
Fingers crossed for both Untieds this weekend
I should be home for the final whistles... do you want a phone call?
Cheers, mate. I'll look forward to chatting with you tomorrow.
Please do give me a call at the final whistle. I'll be on my cell - (716) 986-5787
I am off
TTFN
India just lost wicket #7
will do
Testing
Just checking my Internet connection at the hospital
Looking good, Davey. Hope your father in law is resting comfortably today.
Rangers are wrapping up an 0-2 win at Inverness on what looks like an AYA pitch.
He seems a little out of it right now
It's a new season and a new FSC "Matchday" program. Looking very slick.
Better to be out of it when there are lasers round the privates, eh?
I know it's not appropriate but after reading your message last night, I couldn't get Mrs. Scum's voice out of my head:
"Oooh, it's very tempting; never had one up there before!"
8th wicket down...two to go to #1
You just made me juice out loud....lucky I am here alone
It may be a new format but it's still Christian Miles and Warren Barton at the heart of it.
Glad to give you a chuckle when you're on hospital duty, mate.
Blow up, ref! I want my Soccer Saturday!
Warren Barton picks....Chelski for the title!
What is the new look on FSC?
Kind of like the Daily Show set.
Way hay - Soccer Saturday is on!
Come on England, get these two wickets before the footer starts!
They're doing their best.....wicket #9!
You'll get a chance to see Arsenal v. Newcastle - I'm sorry to miss that one. My plan is to loiter around the hotel until the footer is over tomorrow and take in the Chelski and United matches on the laptop.
Not sure how long I will be here
Watching ynn for hours and hours could be used as a torture method!!
Oh, yeah. For some reason the way I have the cable set up, YNN comes on automatically when I turn it on. It's rubbish.
Ten minutes to go until the 10 o'clock fixtures start. I'll be curious to see how Liverpool set out this season.
By the way, you found a terrific graphic for the post. Rooney, Lampard, Silva and Wilshere. Will those be the stars of the Prem this season?
Rooney!!
Surely you can change that. You have the option on your cable box to turn on to last channel viewed
By the way, on the thread that Yellows posted where he asked for first goal predictions, three of us went with a Liverpool goal - Yellows predicted Adam in the 7th, I predicted Suarez in the 15th and MUR predicted Carroll but didn't specify the time. Someone Said went with Bobby Zamora in the 11th minute. We'll see in a moment.
I'll have to investigate that. I'll not very technically advanced as you know.
The line-ups at Elland Road:
United: Lonergan, Lees, Bromby, Kisnorbo, O'Dea, Clayton, Brown, Snodgrass, Howson, Gradel, McCormack. subs: Rachubka, Sam, Nunez, White, Thompson.
Boro: Ikeme, Hoyte, Bates, McManus, McMahon, Williams , Bennett, Robson, Bailey, McDonald , Emnes. Subs not used: Martin, Smallwood, Kink, Hines, Arca.
Referee: A Taylor
Good morning. I've got liverpool/sunderland on FSC and am hoping copyright does not take away villa/fulham on WM 95.6
Game on!
Still no room for Ramon Nunez in the starting line-up despite his brace in midweek against Bradford. Our internationals are back into the side, including Scottish goalscorer Snoddy.
Let's have some fun.... I'll go for Gyan for Sunderland
Morning, Someone Said. Looking forward to seeing you in a few hours. Sorry that your Spurs v. Everton is postponed today.
Benjani has signed a 1 year contract with Pompey
We're set to go here at Anfield on a new season. The Kop expects!
Nuts, radio feed's gone.
Come on, you Whites! I want the goals to fly in for us and around the country.
Have a safe drive. I think I found Celtic/Dundee Utd on radio scotland!
Wes Brown quickly into the action for United. Will you miss the old Orange Man, UWS?
Well done, mate! Go on the Hoops!
Early corner there and it could have gone anywhere ping ponging around in front of a grateful Reina who jumped on it.
DJ Campbell has had it in the goal for QPR but it's been ruled out.
First yellow card in the Premiership for Norwich's David Fox.
No we won't miss Brown....WBA aren't that quick... They don't start until tomorrow!
Another corner for Sunderland. They're giving it a go.
Good morning everyone . I am pleased to join you for the opening week of EPL fixtures.
Come on Gyan
Richardson's getting a yellow card for hacking Suarez. Could have been red for last man back.
Welcome MUR... How's the misses?
Penalty for Liverpool!
Keiran Richardson fouled Suarez in the box and was booked when it seemed like it could have been red. LUcky boy!
And it's my Golden Boot Boy Suarez stepping up....
And blows it over the top!!!!!!
Penalty! Is it a red. Should be.
Just a yellow.
Suarez fires high!
Welcome, MUR! You arrived at a dramatic point.
How is Elizabeth this morning?
WOW! BLOODY HELL! He blasts the penalty well over . Who picked him to score the first EPL goal of the season?
QPR have a goal disappear...DJ Campbell
Kieran Dyer is being stretchered off with what looks to be a bad injury.
The Hammers are blowing bubbles!
West Ham are 1-0 up over Doncaster with a goal from Kevin Nolan - his first for the club.
My iPad changed the word from disallowed to disappear!
Elizabeth called and said everything came back normal. The doctor thinks it might be anxiety. I think the neurologist comes later today. we will ask her opinion.
Millwall have taken the lead at the Den against Forest. They'll jump up to the top of the league based on that one.
Glad to hear it, mate. I hope she has a relaxing day.
Lovely jubbley
Thank you for your support , LOBers. How is your father-in-law, UWS?
Cracking match at Anfield here. Back and forth up and down the pitch it goes.
Still no EPL goals and only Kevin Nolan's goal in the Championship.
GOAL! Suarez! It's in the 12th minute. I was three minutes off in my prediction!
1-0 Liverpool!
Suarez off a set piece from Adam.
Suarez in the 12th minute.
goal !!! SUAREZ SCORES FROM THE FREE KICK FROM CHARLIE ADAM!
It was a great ball into the danger area by Charlie Adam from the free kick there. And Suarez just had to get some contact on it to take it past the keeper.
It's all over at Edgebaston
England are the World's #1Test team!
They needed to beat India by two clear Tests. They have just gone up 3 nil in a four test series.
They just won by an inning and 242 runs
congrats
Looks like mostly Leeds pressure against Boro. Snoddy has been involved quite a bit.
Congratulations to those who picked Suarez.I know BD picked him. Did anyone else?
Well done to England. I wish the footer team was #1 as well.
No one else picked him either for first goal or for Premiership top scorer. Most of you have Chicharito, who's injured at present. Gooner picked RVP (natch), UWS picked Rooney and someone picked Peter Odemwinge for some reason.
Stokes puts up Celtic 1-0 in the 4th minute.
Palace lead Burnley 1-0 and Millwall lead Forest 1-0
Peter Beagrie says we've started the better side. Tom Lees came close.
What a bummer with Liversox.
My FiL is still a little out of it
Congrats BD and Congrats to the England Cricket Team! What an accomplishment!
Michael Brown is building up to a yellow card as per usual. I have a feeling that Michael will be suspended quite a bit this season.
I went off the board with Odemwingie, way off. Was going to pick Hernandez, but why conform?
I thought Spurs vs Everton was supposed to be on ESPN2 , but they have Fulham vs Villa.
Well done, MUR. Why not go for an unusual choice. Odemwinge could well do the biz this season. Quite often there is a top scorer who plays for a lesser side and scores most of the team's goals.
Game called due to rioting in Tottenham. A ticket booth was burned down at White Hart Lane.
Penalty to Wigan!
Formica has scored for Blackburn.
Anton Ferdinand receives a lecture from Phil Dowd for a foul from behind on Suarez.
Carroll has blasted home but he's ruled out for something. Maybe a push on Anton Ferdinand. Yes - it was. Spot on, referee.
Carroll had a goal waived off, pushed off in the box. Lightly.
Danny Murphy is booked for Fulham and Andy Carroll , my pick for the first EPL goal, had a goal disallowed for offside.
The Gooner will be delighted to hear about the damage to White Hart Lane. He'd prefer to see the whole thing go up in flames, of course.
Nice drive from Charlie Adam, who's been excellent so far on his home debut.
Adam had a ferocious shot from long range stopped.
Gyan tries an outrageous bender that just doesn't come off.
Reyna catches the header from Wes Brown off of Seb Larsson's corner, then Charlie Adam shot at the keeper off of Reina's throw.
Thank you Someone. That would explain it.
Steven Fletcher has scored for Wolves at it is now 1-1 at Ewood Park.
Wolves have tied it up at Blackburn
That Blackburn v. Wolves is already a relegation dogfight in my book.
Ben Watson has put Wigan 1-0 with a peanlty.
Lee "Clattermole" picks up his usual yellow card.
Cattermole is booked for a foul on Suarez then wins a corner off of Richardson.
Blackburn and Wolves played a relegation thriller in the last match of the season at Molineaux.
Half way through the first half and still only goals for Palace, West Ham and Millwall in hte Championship. The Londoners are doing well.
Come on, you Whites!
Cambridge already losing at Wrexham
Oh - Max Gradel fizzes one just over the bar.
Apparently the Wrexham players were threatening a strike for non-payment of wages. They're lucky to have the match on.
Bloody hell! Just after nearly scoring, Max Gradel has been sent off!
We're down to ten men!
Oh - and Ross McCormack was booked for dissent in the incident.
What a run by Stuart Downing as he went past several Sunderland players and was unlucky to see his shot come off the top of the bar. That deserved a goal.
I agree , BD . Wrexham players are lucky that they are even employed. They should get paid or else go into administration.
Liverpool playing good, flowing football now and the Kop is loving it.
Southampton have taken the lead at Barnsley.
Southampton are top of the heap now after scoring at Barnsley. Great start to the season for them.
Unfortunately it's all Boro pressure now at Elland Road.
All 'pool so far. Lucas shoots one wide.
Celtic now up 2-1 on Dundee Utd. Russell tied it in the 31st but Hooper put one away two minutes later.
Well done, Celtic!
I am off home
kath is still going to stay
I'll call you Bob
Carragher lucky to just get a yellow there. Nasty boot to Gyan's leg.
Cheers UWS! I hope everything is okay.
Liverpool lead 1-0 at halftime.
Half time then. Still 0-0 at Elland Road. I'm off down the road. I'll look forward to some Leeds goals and to chatting with all of you tomorrow.
Gary Cahill gave Bolton the lead in stoppage time at Loftus Road.
Cheers BD! Have a safe trip and enjoy your trip.
Norwich have tied it up at the DW as Wes Hoolihan scored on the stroke of halftime.
Brighton lead 0-1 at Pompey. Sorry, UWS.
The second half is underway.
I am thinking that Liverpool fans are thrilled as there are all sorts of United connections with this Sunderland side.
Charlie Adam shoots wide with a decent long range effort.
I am back home for the start of the second half
COME ON SUNDERLAND!
Fulham seem to be dominating vs Villa. Great tackle by Anton Ferdinand on Carroll.
I have a SS link going strong
It is good to be back
Hello UWS. Is everything okay with your father-in-law.
Wolves take the lead at Ewood Park with a penalty
Not sure how he is doing. He still seems out of it
Jordan Henderson will be disappointed that he is not starting today vs his former club, unless it was written in his contract that he could not play in this match.
I wish him the best. Our family will keep him in our thoughts.
I see that QPR's match has just started after the delay with Keiron Dyer's injury in the first half
HE IS INJURY PRONE!
He sure is . I am surprised he hasn't retired.
Andy Carroll heads from a Stuart Downing corner.
Shef United have taken the lead against Brentford
Hearts are three up against Aberdeen
I think Hearts play Spurs midweek in the Europa League
Derby have taken the lead at Watford.
That is correct. They do. Spurs should go through.
Larsson ties it for Sunderland!
YES!!!!!!
SUNDERLAND SCORES!!!!!
What a lovely volley by Larsen... I turned the channel for two seconds and missed it!!
YES!!! SEB LARSSON HAS SCORED WITH A SUPERB VOLLEY OFF THE CORNER .IT IS NOW 1-1 AT ANFIELD.
To be honest, I did not see this goal coming as I was expecting Liverpool to run away with this match.
21 years and counting with no league title for the Pool... will they eclipse United's 26 year drought?
Still not many goals in the Championship
Steve would love to see Hearts eliminate Spurs and should be pleased that Gunner Old Boy , Larsson, scored.Bet he is wishing that he was back at the Em.
I erred. Jordan Henderson is playing and commits a nasty challenge on Colbert.
That is a surprise as the Championship is usually a guarentee for lots of goals.
Kuyt on for Henderson
Kuyyt came on for Jordan Henderson.
The corner from Adam is cleared.
To add your statement , UWS, there are six 1-0 scores an four 0-0 scores in the championship. How odd.
Come on Leeds... make Our Bob happy
Bournemouth lead Sheffield Wednesday 1-0. They should do better. Alfreton scored fourteen against Wednesday
As I type the Premier League looks like this
Wolves 3
Bolton 3
Liverpool 1
Norwich 1
Sunderland 1
Wigan 1
Villa 1
Fulham 1
the rest have nowt
Classic
Chris K turns his back as they go to him
Wonder if he is more animated than last week
STRUTH... LEEDS ARE DOWN TO NINE MEN!!!
WOW! I hope they can hold on . It is still 0-0 at ER and I think they will take that result under the circumstances.
I guess I should turn it over to the Fulham match so Sunderland will score again!
Wong skipped easily past the inexperienced Flanagan, but the final ball was poor.
I have that match as the smaller picture in the corner. It has been an uneventful match.
Reading lead 0-1 at The Crisps. I wonder if both sides will be fighting for promotion.
Finally, a team has scored more than one in the Championship
Palace are two up against Burnley
Palace now lead Burnley 2-0. The only match in the Championship that is not 1-0 or 0-0. This is not Serie A!
Oh dear
Boro have taken the lead at Elland Road
Interesting, Fulham are wearing all white. Usually they wear black shorts
Andy Carroll has a shot deflected for a corner. Mignolet does well to catch the corner.
Bolton are two up at Loftus Road
Great job, UWS. I am not sure why they are wearing all white.
Mireles is on for Suarez.
I would love to see some dropped points by Liversox today... Arsenal too... Chelsea tomorrow as well... Citeh on Monday
Happy about Bolton. Sad about Boro , but it is difficult to hold on with nine men.
Bolton leapfrog Wolves for top spot!!!
Bolton are three up!!
League Champs???
Fulham is wearing all white because Villa are wearing maroon shorts.I guess the ref feels that maroon and black will clash.
YES!!! I love it! Anyone for four?
I just looked in my annual Guardian Football booklet sent to me by my brother-in-law, Fulham are going to look like Real Madrid at home this season!
Not sure about that. Blackpool won 0-4 at Wigan on opening day last year and ended up being relegated while Wigan survived. You never know.
Fulham have the right to wear their black shorts.. Villa would have to change but as I said, Fulham's kit is all white this season. Spurs did that a few years ago and got rid of their blue shorts... not liking it
Oh dear... Hull have taken the lead Portman Road
That is interesting. Black and white are their traditional colors. David Vaughan is on for Seb Larsson.
I agree. I would prefer to see Fulham wear black shorts. Not good news at Portman Road.
My promotion pick, Forest, are losing two nil
Could Warnock be in danger of getting the axe
My promotion pick, Birmingham, take the lead at Coventry.
Nutso Joey Barton is starting for the Toon
I would to see that happen to Warnock. It couldn't happen to a more deserving person.
