A busy EPL Weekend
Come join us for some exciting EPL image starting with Liversox vs The Gunners. when the teams met at The Emirates at the end of last season, it was a dull match until stoppage time when both teams each scored a penalty in stoppage time and the match ended 1-1. Arsene Wenger was so incensed that he tried to pick a fight with Kenny Dalglish and the Liverpool manager responded by cursing at Wenger. The pair refused to shake hands. will we any fireworks today. You will not know unless you join LOB for all the action!

It is Sunderland 0 Newcastle 0 with 25 minutes played. The rematch from The EM kicks off in about 20 minutes.I decided against any extra kip this morning even though it is dark outside in Texas.
The lineups are :
Arsenal Liversox
Szcesny Reina
Vermaelen Agger
Kosceleny Carragher
Sagna Jose Enrique
Jenkinson Kelly
Frimpong Adam
Ramsey Lucas
Arshavin Henderson
walcott Downing
Van Persie Kuyyt
Ramsey Carroll
Sorry for the confusion on the line ups, I thought there was a space between the teams.
ESPN starts out by stating that Nasri is on the verge of a move to Man Citeh and that The gunners are on the verge of a collapse.A bit of media hype!!!
Morning, MUR! Thanks for the post. Fantastic graphic!
I'm getting to it a wee bit later than I wanted but I'm really looking forward to a weekend of great footer.
It is still Sunderland 0 Newcastle 0 as Ian Darke and Stevie Mac mention the signing of Jags as a great signing.
I don't know at all about using Nasri today. A player who wants away is rarely going to do a job for you.
Good morning BD. Great to hear from you. How have you been?
I agree. Liversox appear to have the stronger starting lineup today.
I'm good. For some reason my alarm didn't go off. Fortunately, I didn't oversleep too much. How's everything in Harlingen?
It is still as hot as ever. I went back to work on Wednesday and have students on Monday, so it is busy. I had the same problem waking up yesterday for some reason.
But where is my Golden Boot boy Luis Suarez?! Grrrr.
It is Sunderland 0 Newcastle 0 as that match is about to approach stoppage time.
I had a really long day of it yesterday. Meetings from 9-4:30 and a Happy Hour with graduate students from 5-7. I actually got in bed around 10 for a change.
Suarez is on the bench today.
It is the silly season as you dialed the phone with your butt yesterday. That was an interesting message!
The match kicks off from the EM and it is 0-0 at halftime in The Northeast Derby.
Frimpong fouls Jordan Henderson.
Useless free kick by Charlie Adam.
I do that now and again with my cheapo cell phone.
Jenkinson is easily dispossessed. Not a good start for him.
RVP is tackled for a corner.
What an unusual effort from Arshavin!
Well done BD. The Monte Python cast would be proud!
Arshavin with a great ball over but with no real target man it is wasted.
I think I was probably on my bike at the time - anything is bound to happen.
I will need to leave midway through the second half for staff development. Can you believe it? I will be back for the second half of the late match.
Frimpong picks up a needless yellow card there.
I think Dave is in the same position. We took care of that stuff yesterday. Now we're set for the first day on Monday. Staff dev. on a Saturday is cruel.
Frimpong was booked for some afters with Jordan Henderson . That was poor and Wenger will not be pleased with that behavior from his young debutant.
Arshavin looks rubbish.
The other option was to stay twice after school and give up a conference period. One of those days is Elizabeth's birthday.
The commentator is pointing out again that there is no one running through the center forward for Arsenal when the good balls come in from the likes of Walcott.
Well, that's a non-starter.
Theo went down too easily as he did on Tuesday in the CL qualifier.
I picked the lesser of the two evils.
Oh dear - this doesn't look good for Koscielny. Get the cash out, Arsene!
It looks like a serious injury for Kos. This would definitely make Jags an important signing.
Young Miquel is coming on to play at the heart of the Arsenal defense now.
Miguel is on for Kos as he makes his EPL debut. He looks really light weight.
I would think Jags would start in place of Kos.
I would definitely pay the asking price for Jags or Gary Cahill.
I agree. either would walk into the starting lineup.
The commentators are piling the pressure on Arsenal, but Liverpool haven't exactly had a wealth of chances in this first half, have they?
Johnny D was on facebook the other day. I think he would be a great addition to LOB. What is your opinion?
Arshavin does look like he's forgotten how to play football. What is he doing out there?
It was like this when they met in April.
I agree. what is up with him?
Great save by Czezseny from a Carroll header.
The corner is headed away.
I was surprised to see JDLC on there, actually. He's a rare poster on FB. Something about the 9/11 anniversary coming up must have urged him to post.
I've tried in the past but got the impression that he wasn't interested in re-connecting but I could try again.
First real chance of the match from Carroll. Great save!
He had an alternate point of view that was credible,IMHO. I posted a few responses.
Clumsy by Jemkison on Jose Enrique near the corner flag.
Useless free kick.
Still 0-0 between Sunderland and Newcastle.
Oh - Henderson had a free head there. Liverpool are starting to get some good positions now.
Henderson should have done better as he headed straight to the keeper after a great cross by Kuyyt from a Jose Enrique chip.
Half-way through the first half and Arsenal are really under the cosh. Macca is piling the criticism on Wenger.
Liversox are starting to take control.
Frimpong is building toward a second yellow now. He's got to be careful.
Carroll lost his balance that was never a penalty.
I wonder if Liversox players will try to irk him.
Dodgy defending by the Gunners off the Liversox corner.
Carroll gets a silly yellow card for finishing the move. The crowd got him into trouble there.
A great Liversox counter is ended with a needless offside by Andy Carroll and he is booked for dissent.
The cross by Arshavin is cleared.
Another great ball over from Arshavin and RVP is no where to be found.
Was that a harsh yellow on Andy Carroll?
Charlie Adam tries a Pele. Decent effort.
Martin Kelly is called for a foul on Sagna.
Oh - Frimpong tries a great shot and Reina did well to tip around.
Useless free kcck by Arshavin ,but Frimpong brings out a good save by Reina.
Czesny gave away a needless corner from the Downing cross.
Kuyyt is miles offside.
Morning fellas
Sorry for the late appearance.
I couldn't sleep very well last night. I put the alarm on and had the mach on upstair watching it with one eye
How was school MUR? I still have two more weeks off. My college class starts the same day
Liverpool are a bit too obvious when it's just Carroll to aim at. I think they need the option of Luis Suarez, but maybe I'm biased.
The cross from downing is headed out after a superb long ball from Jose Enrique to Jordan Henderson.
Morning, UWS! Great to have you on board.
Good morning UWS. There were two days of staff development and a the work day yesterday. It went pretty well. We have staff development later this morning.
Oh - Nasri just wide there.
Ryan Taylor has scored for Newcastle in the Tyne and Weir.
Just wide by Nasri after a superb solo run.
Nice run and shot by Nasri just wide
Wow, Newcastle take the lead.. I thought Sunderland would have done better there
How have you been UWS?
That will move the Magpies temporarily to the top of the table.
Interesting. That will not last.
Another foul from Frimpong and he's getting very, very close.
Oh - Downing was in a great position but he pulled his shot well wide.
We go in on Sept 6 for a Superintendent's Day. Kids are in Wednesday
This is getting fairly scrappy toward the end of the half.
Your Superintendent's Day sounds similar to our first day back on Wednesday, UWS.
Arsene doesn't seem to be enjoying this one.
myp2p link that I sent you yesterday has worked. My original still doesn't work
Frimpong is upended by Lucas. Yellow for the fake Brazilian.
I don't think he ever really enjoys a match.
Lucas is booked for a soft foul on Frimpong.
I hate the 'Invincible" team... United missed a last second pen from RVN... that's when the Arsenal players attacked him afterwards... THEY SHOULD HAVE LOST
RVP... into the wall
RVP hits the wall and earns a corner at least.
The free kick from RVP is deflected for a corner.
Only 3 added minutes... the injury was longer than that!
Sour grapes, anyone?
Three minutes of stoppage time.
THEY SHOULD HAVE LOST!!!
BTW, during that season, United were leading the table for long portions of the season
Shoulda, coulda, woulda...
Nasri trying to hit the net at Eastlands there
It is early in the morning, but I guess you are talking about the 2003-2004 season.I am trying to remember that match.
Is there any season in your mind when United shouldn't have won the treble, UWS?
Starting to rain at the Em... it is already raining at the Oval too. England are 591 for 6... another hammering for the Indians!
More like Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire.
I'm off to get some fresh bagels in for breakies.
It is 0-0 at halftime from the EM.
I had a bagel and coffee.Still 0-1 in the Tyne Wear Derby.
2002, 2005
Should have beaten Leeds in '92
Should have scored another goal at Upton Park to beat Blackburn in '95
Should have not blown a big lead in the league to Arsenal. We lost to them at home and Arsenal came back and won
I agree. We would have won even more honors. I remember those matches.
What do you think about Robbie Keane going to the Galaxy?
I am a bit surprised, but he has lost a step. With decent service, he should score lots of goals in MLS. I guess he will still start for Ireland.
I guess he will not play for the New York Cosmos.
Still 0-1 in stoppage time of the Tyne Wear Derby.
IS it really that cold at the EM as Kenny wears a jacket?
Phil Bardsley sees a second yellow at the SoL
Not good news for Brucie and his United Reject side
The second half is underway from The EM.
That should give the Magpies a win in the Tyne Wear Derby.
I hope Untied get this weak Arsenal side next Sunday
How on Earth does Walcott have the nerve to write a book!!!!
I hope so too as Arsenal have a tricky trip to Ital for a CL qualifier on either Tuesday or Wednesday. I hope they are tired too.
Could ESPN get another nil niller? Last Saturday's match was one and the Citeh match was scoreless at half too
Newcastle have defeated Arsenal 0-1 at the SOL.
Newcastle are top of the table!
They win 1-0
I guess Theo can write.Has he done enough to warrant a book?
I'm back with my bagel and coffee.
Defeated Arsenal???
These teams met at the EM in April and both goals were scored in stoppage time. Will the same happen this time?
I am not sure about that as it is still 0-0.
1355: Reports are coming in from French TV that Samir Nasri's move to Manchester City has broken down. We will try to get to the bottom of that for you... in the meantime, Nasri is putting in a very decent shift in the Gunners midfield.
I am surprised about Sunderland result. They looked decent at Anfield last week
Must be a Freudian slip from MUR there. You lot would love Arsenal to lose this one, eh?
I agree. He has had their best chances. I had the same breakfast,BD.
YOU said that Newcastle defeated Arsenal at the SoL!!!!
A lot of pressure now on Brucie, eh?
I think I would prefer a nil niller here.
That is correct. SOL is the Stadium of Light.
There may be some pressure on Brucie.
I know that!! You said Newcastle beat Arsenal!!!
I know it was a typo but I am a teacher... I can't let that go!
Just wide by martin Kelly after some more dodgy defending from the Gunners.
It's another "want away" player Nik Bendtner up and warming up.
Here's a link for SS. It is on the match right now
http://hendystv.netai.net/
OOPS! I meant Sunderland , not Arsenal. Well in , UWS. I guess the coffee has not kicked in yet. Is that better?
I'd love to see these two fail to win their first two games. Arsenal go to Old Trafford next while Liversox host Bolton
A bit early to get the red pencil out, isn't it UWS? You haven't even started your season yet!
I have to leave for bloody staff development . I will be back just before halftime of the late match.
Cheers BD and UWS.
We had a couple of math questions for you lot in the Wing City Trivia the other night. You would have done well.
Good luck with it, MUR!
Rain still affecting England's attempt for a whitewash.
They have scored 591 but is is already Day 3. They need to have India do the follow-on but I don't think the weather is going to cooperate
The Arsenal fans like to sing a silly song for Frimpong based on that old Goons tune - "Yin-tang:"
"Frimpong, Frimpong, Frimpong tiddle-ay-po...." and so on. Good fun.
Take care MUR
What were the questions?
Time to release the Suarez, Kenny!
I fear for Arsenal midweek in Italy
Udinese looked a decent side. Will Arsenal play for a nil niller?
I don't understand why Suarez isn't playing
One was the Square root of 2.5.
The other was just counting up the angles of a triangle. As I remember the answer was something like 134 degrees. Both fairly easy in the first round.
I think Kenny is worried that he was tired coming back from the Copa America, but I agree. I'd play him!
dunno both
Is KD going to only play one up front away from home all season?
Don't they say the same thing about Theo at the beginning of every season?
"Big season for Walcott. He has to deliver." Or what?
Oh - Arshavin did well but RVP hit the keeper when the chance came to him.
Wenger's really not enjoying his footer today.
In the Championship, the south coast just promoted duo, both with 100% record are at home today. Southampton play Millwall and Brighton host Blackpool
Come on Pompey... join them up there!!
Big one tomorrow, West Ham vs Leeds
Here it goes for Frimpong. He's off. That was coming. Arsenal down to ten for the second Premiership match in a row.
Arsenal are down to ten men!!
Ping Pong gets a yellow
Are Arsenal going for the Fair Play European Place... two REDS in TWO GAMES
Looking forward to it - I've already been getting the needle from Johnno on Facebook.
Arshavin is being sacrificed for Henry Lansbury to provide a bit of cover. That's the move I would have made under the circumstances. He's been rubbish.
Suarez and Meireles both come on... Meireles should be forced to wear long sleeves with those tats!!!
King Kenny is going for it now with both Mereiles and Suarez on. But why not leave Carroll on as well?
Surely there will be a link for the match.
I know Five Live are covering the match too
Did you get that link for SS from earlier. Still on the match
ooh, Suarez almost in
Not a big fan of body art, Dave? I've been forced to reassess my position on it. I've got so many colleagues with tattoos - mostly women!
I grew up with parents who said things like "only sailors have tattoos." It's a different world now.
I didn't notice Carroll went off
Downing with a strike saved
It's a picture perfect day today. I'm thinking of going out for a bike ride after the matches.
I would never get a tattoo. What do you mean reassess your position?
Pretty boring match here... still 15 minutes to go
Oh - Vermaelen tries one from distance. I agree with Ian - he's been excellent today.
Arsenal's reserve team? Who else to they really have?
GOAL! Liverpool take the lead!!!!!!
GOAL.... LiverSox try to be a Barcelona but a one too many pass goes off a defender and loops in!
That could have been offside with the pass to Suarez
It's a comedy of errors there. Suarez was bearing down on goal and Miquel kicked it into Ramsey. Own goal in the end.
0-1 Liverpool!
I don't want to see LiverSox get a positive push from this
So Walcott to come off and Bendtner to come on to try and rescue something from this match now.
Do you get the sense that Ian and Macca are reading the Arsenal obituaries a wee bit too early here?
Why take Walcott off... they need a goal
I know what you mean but things don't look good at the Em
It was an odd decision for Miquel to try to flick the ball out of danger there. Why not take easy route and just side foot it behind for a corner there?
First win at Arsenal in 11 years!!
But they're sitting on a pile of cash now. A couple of new players in could mean a world of difference in the next two weeks. My choice would be Jagielka and Scott Parker. £50 million should do it and it would be money well spent.
Jenkinson's having to play through cramp now. How do you go down with cramp within a 90 minute match?
Bloody hell, Stewart. Pick out my man Suarez with that ball, eh?
I don't know why Parker hasn't been bought. Personally, I don't think he should never have been player of the year!
Why aren't Arsenal interested in someone like Sneijder?
Liverpool and Newcastle are top dogs for the time being.
I think they were interested but they are just too stingy for a player like that. I honestly don't think they need a Sneijder. They desperately need a central defender and holding midfielder and I would have a quality keeper as well. They've got loads of nippy little midfielders like Sneijder.
Rooney with a hat-trick on Monday!!!
