Are Citeh the Real Deal?
We've got a fascinating match on tap this afternoon between the pretenders to the Premiership throne who've been throwing silly money around all summer against a side that got promoted through the playoffs and are everyone's favorite for the drop. Something's got to give here and there should be goals in the offing. Join me for all the action from 2:45 pm EST onward.

I'm going to pop off to a conference session but I'll be back around kick-off time. See you then!
I sent to youtube videos by email that pertain to today's fixture. The first email will show a goal scored by Dennis Tueart that really amazed me. The second email is when the teams last met in a league match or at least to the best of my knowledge.
Afternoon, MUR! I'll have a look at those vids in a moment. Meanwhile, I've got the line-ups for this afternoon's clash:
Citeh: Hart, Richards, Clichy, Lescott, Kompany, De Jong, Barry, Yaya, Johnson, Silva, Dzeko.
Swansea: Vorm, Rangel, Caulker, Williams, Tate, Augustien, Britton, Dobbie, Dyer, Sinclair, Graham.
Typical bloody Serie A conservatism from Mancini there. Citeh are playing at home against probably the weakest side in the league - that is, presumably the easiest fixture that they'll have all season - and he's still got a back four, two defensive middies in De Jong and Barry, and only Dzeko as an out and out attacker. Why bloody buy Aguerro if you're not going to let him loose. And where the hell is Carlito!?
This looks like an excellent link for those of us marooned at work this afternoon:

Teams in the tunnel. I have to say that the Swansea lads already look like deer in the headlights.
Good afternoon,BD.Do you remember when Tosh took the Swans from the fourth to First Division in four seasons , which tied Northampton for the quickest rise in English football. Both teams dropped down just as quickly. The Swans took seven seasons to complete the same rise, meaning that they had more time to consolidate. Each promotion took three seasons. Also, They survived relegation to the Conference on the very last day, when Leeds old boy, Brian Flynn, was in charge. My how they have climbed since those troubled teams.
The two Alans - Parry and Smith - on the mic this afternoon.
Thhe match kicks off from Eastlands.
Stevie Mac says it's a Baptism of Fire.
Hi MUR - how are you? I hope that Elizabeth is recovering at home comfortably.
Here we go - it should be a "baptism of fire," but I just don't see Mancini pushing Swansea very hard.
The new goalkeeper signed from FC Utrecht makes a nervous clearance.
Superb tackle by Scott Sinclair and a great block from a shot by Yaya.
Citeh predictably coming out of the traps quickly. They'll try to punk the Swans in the first ten minutes and will then drop off, I suspect. The job for the Welshmen is merely to hang on until then and not concede too quickly.
Swansea are a footballing side but they'll need to play is shorter and safer than that. Possession is key in these opening moments.
Great , BD. Thank you very much. How are you. She is doing better and is still at her parents. The girls and I have been busy, cleaning house today.
Better possession from the Swans.
Swansea having a nice spell here. Bit of sloppiness from Citeh.
Mancini wanted Brendan Rogers as his assistant?
Glad to hear it, mate. I'm sure your daughters have been helping out quite a bit today.
Did you see my comment comparing Swansea's current rise to that under Tosh?
They have , but have needed some reminders.Thank You,BD.
I can't believe Vorm has won seven caps for Holland.
I saw that. I'm afraid that I missed their 80s heroics under Tosh as I was college-bound at the time. The 80s were really the dark ages for me as it was so difficult to follow the Beautiful Game.
I find that hard to believe that Brendan is even on Roberto's radar.
Scott Sinclair must be Swansea's beat player. The rest is a pick-up team , yet they win a corner.
Swansea win a corner. You know, Citeh haven't done even as much as I'd expected. And I didn't expect much, really after I saw the line-up.
Mancini is winning nought with this approach IMHO.
Graham heads the corner in the air , but Hart catches.
I agree, BD.Hard to see Citeh challenging us for the title based on this approach.
I thought that Dobbie was quite impressive in their promotion campaign last season. Sinclair I don't really rate. Isn't he a Chelski reject?
I suspect that Mancini will be targeting the Champions League more than the Prem.
You were in England for the rise, but the fall started your freshman year of college. The rise was from 1977-1981. They finished sixth in the old First Division your senior year of high school. Our dark ages was the Swans' as well.
Strange - I don't remember Swansea in that period at all.
It is hard to break into Chelski's first team. I thought Sinclair was their MVP last year while Dobbie was signed from Queen of the South and has not proved himself at the top level.
Shut it Ian, you cannot plagiarize MUR!
They were promoted along with West Ham and Notts County in 1981.
Alan must be lurking on the LOB.
Swansea is having the better of the possession.stevie Mac, an ex Citeh player, is not impressed
Oh - Clichy's ball over was good but Dzeko seemed to pull out of his run. I thought he might throw himself at that cross.
The cross from Clichy is just too high for Dzeko.
The cross from Barry was too high for Micah Richards.
I like Stevie Mac as a commentator - he's not afraid to pull his punches when necessary.
I've got Alan Parry and Alan Smith on the Sky coverage on my link.
Hart is pissed at Kompany; rightly so.
Sinclair skips past Richards, but the cross was cut out.
A quarter of an hour in and Swansea have eased to their season impressively but they haven't been pushed yet by Citeh. Disappointing from them.
That's shocking that Swansea didn't have 16K average attendance in the Championship. We had double that in L1!
I agree with Ian Darke. The Swansea players are comfortable on the ball. It's easy on the eye. I guess similar to Blackpool.
Blackpool averaged only 8 K when promoted from the Championship. It was the second worst that season.
I wonder if they will be this year's Blackpool. Easy on the eye, everyone's second favorite and then a tragic drop at the end.
I think Ashley Williams , a regular starter for Wales is highly rated by EPL managers.
That sounds accurate,BD.
Useless pass by Yaya.
I guess we will end up without any opening day home wins in the EPL.
Citeh had the best defense last season, but "slipped up in attack."Well sated Ian. will anything change this season?
Adam Johnson has a shot deflected for a corner.
Corner for Citeh here. The big men are all coming up for this one.
Oh Silva from the short produces a great save out of the keeper Vorm.
The short corner works as Vorm makes a superb save from David Silva.
Big shout for handball from the crowd but not much from the Citeh players. I thought unintentional.
Now Silva has a free kick opportunity.
Cleared out.
Citeh win a free kick as Silva was fouled. He curls it,but it is headed out by Ashley Williams.
I reckon that the FA should reward an extra promotion slot to the side with the biggest average attendance in the Championship.
;-}
Swansea cleared and Dobbie misjudged the bounce.
I don't agree,BD. It must be based on results, LOL. I get the reference.Who would that favor hint hint?
Naver a case for handball.
Citeh now starting to step it up a gear.
Yaya shoots straight at Vorm from long range.
Well, this season West Ham might give us a run for our money, for sure.
My statement about stepping it up is confirmed as Citeh have had 62% of the possession in the last five minutes.
OOH! off the bar by Silva as Swansea are hanging on by a thread.
A Citeh corner is wasted as a foul is called. Swansea fans cheered the call.
Citeh win a corner after some trickery from Dzeko. The short corner is taken and leads to another corner.
I am not sure about the Hammers. They have not been convincing their first two games, but it is a long season.
Dzeko is tricky on the left, but Barry had trouble controlling the pass. He found Adam Johnson , who was flagged offside.
I'm just thinking that based on their last season at Upton Park, fans might want to attend on nostalgic reasons alone.
Great support by the Swansea fans . Superb behavior.
Leon Britton has played in all four divisions for Swansea after failing to make it with the Hammers. What a story!
That may be true, but Fat Sam better do a better job or else those fans will turn on him. They expect better.
Adam Johnson dribbled down the right , but his cross found Vorm.
Barry tried to find Dzeko with a chip, but Vorm was quickly out.
Well stated Ian. He mentioned that a lot of these players have paid their dues in the lower divisions and deserve a crack at the big time. I agree.
I know that Citeh have had a few chances to score, mainly through Silva but honestly they should be putting this lot to the sword. I can remember Blackpool getting hammered 6-0 by the likes of Arsenal and you lot last season.
Natahn Dyer appeared to be fouled and Yaya countered forcing a save by Vorm.r
Swansea were asleep from the corner and Silva volleyed over from a corner when he should have scored.
I agree, but they pulled out some wins and almost survived.I wonder if Swansea might pull off a few upsets if some teams have an off day.
I agree Stevie, Swansea have to keep the ball.
A great build-up by Citeh and shocking finishing by Yaya. He troubled a fan in row W.
Mancini is not pleased. Brian Kidd does not look impressed either.
That is true about Blackpool but as I remember the good results tended to be against lesser opposition. Swansea will look to do likewise this season. But this is certainly more than they could have hoped for in this first half. Mancini looks animated and I predict that there will be some whistles and boos from the Eastlands faithful when the half-time whistle goes in a moment.
Ian and Stevie think we will see Aguero in the second half.
Oh - Dzeko was a dreadful, scuffed shot there when he was in a prime position at the top of the box.
Dzeko shoots at Vorm.
I would hope so - why buy a player like that if you're not going to use him?
That's a bit better but Yaya chipped to easily to Vorm in the end.
The matches will be vital. That is how Wigan survived.Blackpool were not consistent against the lesser teams. Is Swansea are , then you never know.Wigan's only bad result against the lesser teams was the opening day 0-4 home defeat.
Oh - good work from Dzeko but Vorm smothered him in the end. The keeper's done really well so far.
Yaya was through and blocked by Vorm. One minute of stoppage time.
I sure would BD. I would have started him .
Just about time for this last Citeh corner.
Oh - off the crossbar from Barry right at the death. That late flurry might keep the boos down. Citeh should in all fairness be a couple up.
Barry has a shot deflected for a corner. OOH! Barry has a shot come off the bar from the corner.
It is 0-0 at halftime, but in all honesty, Citeh hit the bar twice and dominated. I expect them to score in the second half.
will you be around tomorrow as Leeds host Hull City and Gooner's Gunners host Udinese in A CL qualifier?
I hope to be. I may have to close my office door, turn off the lights and listen with my earbuds as there are a lot of panicky grad students around this week. They wait until four days before the start of the semester to register for classes typically.
That is typical. I hope everything goes well for you.
The second kicks off.
What a shock. It's raining in Manchester!
Dobbie's through ball is cut out.
Nasty by De Jong on Sinclair . He should have been booked.
Citeh are at league leaders, Bolton, next week.
I missed the start of the second half there to catch a phone call. Any changes?
Adam Johnson wins a corner after his initial cross was out by Volka. The cross is cl;eared and the Swans broke through Sinclair . His cross was caught by Hart.
There are no changes.
I go back to work on Wednesday.
Great by Nathan Dyer, but a poor pass. He can dribble , but his distribution has been questionable.
Thanks, mate. I'm surprised but then not surprised given that it's Mancini.
Dzeko was flagged offside as he had just the keeper to beat. He was off by at lest two yards.
No problem. That is absolutely correct,BD.
Mancini is animated again but what does he expect. He hasn't put the right side out yet.
Vorm saves easily from Yaya.
Dobbie tried to hit Citeh on the break but took the wrong option with a long shot that was never going to beat Hart.
Great tackle by Nathan Dyer. Never a penalty then Swansea counter and Dobbie forces a superb save from Hart with a long range effort.
Swansea seem to have weathered the opening onslaught again and are starting to put together a few of their own moves now. They've been quite good.
The pass from Augustin was just too long for Nathan Dyer.
I agree. They did ride their luck at the end of the first half.
A good possession, but the Swans, but a desperate cross from Augustin.
GOAL! Dzeko taps home!
1-0 Citeh!
Great tackle by David Silva.
GOAL!!! 1-0 CITEH AS DZEKO SCORES OFF THE REBOUND FROM A SAVE BY VORM FROM ADAM JOHNSON.
That was a lovely, sweeping move anchored by a great run from Silva who was allowed to run at the defense before dishing out to Johnson who's cross was palmed out to Dzeko. Easy.
It all started with that superb tackle in midfield by David Silva , who has been their best player, IMHO.
How odd is that? Mancini takes this moment to introduce Aguero. I don't get it.
I agree - David Silva MOTM.
I agree with this move as Aguero is on for De Jong. A positive move . Well done Mancini.
Now this is more like the line-up that they should have started with. Barry as the holding and Aguero adding to the attack. Shame that we had to wait through 60 minutes for him to show up.
I agree, BD. It should have been done earlier, but the right move.
I agree. It was too long.It should have been done at halftime.
Citeh leap up to fourth in the table on the strength of that goal. Only three sides won their matches over the opening weekend.
A great double save by Vorm from Aguero and Yaya as Yaya was allowed to run at the Swansea defense.
Oh - Aguero nearly scored with his first touch. And then Yaya was offside.
Wow - another devastating run from Aguero. Swansea don't know what's hit them now.
Aguero goes easily past Ashley Wlliams , but there were not Citeh players in the box for the cross.
Swansea need to whether this storm or else it could get out of hand.
Looks like Brendan Rogers is going to tighten up the defense with some changes.
Joe Allen , who has been at the club since he was nine years old , is on for Leon Britton. Wayne Routledge, signed from Evil QPR, is on for Scott Dobbie. Allen deserves a crack at the big time based on loyalty alone as he has been with the club during their Dark Ages.
That's amazing!
The long corner by Joe Allen is headed out , but the return cross is caught by Joe Hart.
Rare in this day and age.
GOAL! Aguero with his debut goal!
2-0!
GOAL !!! 2-0 AS AGUERO SCORES ON HIS DEBUT. A GREAT MOVE INVOLVING THREE OTHER PLAYERS.
Yaya was the architect this time. Great ball to Barry who slid through for Richards to drive low across the box and Sergio did the rest.
It took him only eight and a half minutes to score. An instant impact!
I disagree with Alan Smith. I don't expect Aguero to score like Tevez did as he'll probably player wider on most occasions.
Routledge volleyed well wide as the corner was headed out. At least he made an attempt at goal.
3-0!
Aguero sets up Silva!
On the replay, it might well have been out of play there but didn't Aguero do well to set up Silva. Wow!
GOAL!!! 3-0 david silva scores as aguero performs what can only be described as magic with that superb chip in a confined space.
Who chipped that ball into Aguero?
This is more of what I expected from this fixture. Two more now and Citeh will have the goal difference to top Bolton in the charts.
I didn't catch that part of the action.
Citeh fans really enjoying themselves doing the "Poznan Dance" and such.
This is more along the lines of what I expected. This match has been decided.
Stefan Savic is about to come on for his debut. He will replace Adam Johnson.
That substitution is being made as we speak.
Mario looks like the kid who wasn't invited to the birthday party there on the touchline.
Balo is on the sideline . He will not participate in this match. Citeh just showed that they don't need him.
Citeh have a free kick about a foot outside the box.
Oh - nearly 4-0 there as Yaya's effort from the free kick is marvelously saved by Vorm. Citeh could easily be 6 or 7-0 up.
Sorry just inside the box.what a superb save by Vorm off the deflected free kick just inside the box. Where was Dennis Tueart he scored against The Swans from a free kick inside the box.
A useless Swansea cross, but a superb rugby tackle by Danny Graham on Micah Richards. It's great to see Richards see the funny side of things. That should be the attitude more often, IMHO.
Swansea have a free kick just outside the box.
Richards heads out the free kick from Joe Allen.
Shut it Ian. You cannot plagiarize BD.
Sinclair is still giving it a go. He pulls a good save out of Hart.
A great ball from Routledge as Hart saves from Sinclair.
How did Ian plagiarize from me?
Leeroy Lita is on for Nathan Dyer. He has not proved himself in the top flight, IMHO.
Silva trots off - he was excellent today. Milner on in his place.
James Milner is on for David Silva, who gets a deserved ovation and rest as the match is sealed.
I agree - Lita is a scrub. I'm shocked that Swansea bought him.
Ian stated that Citeh need two more goals to go on top ahead of Bolton. You sated that a good while earlier. He almost quoted you word for word.
So Bolton vs Citeh will be a super early top of the table clash this weekend.
Yeah - that should be the last hurrah for Bolton.
Hart does well to prevent a corner off of Routledge's deflected shot.
Roberto Martinez makes an early exit , watching his former employers. He played his part in Swansea's rise which continued once he took the Wigan job.
An easy tackle by Lescott on Routledge.
More good stuff from Citeh, first down the left through Milner and then on the right from Aguero. Tough for the Swans to keep up with.
Too easy by Citeh as Tate headed out a cross from Milner and Citeh tried to walk it in the goal.
Fantastic - Arsenal v. Liverpool is the early match on Saturday, followed by that Bolton v. Citeh.
It has been too easy for Citeh since they took the lead.
Alan Smith thinks that Swansea will trouble a lot of sides. I disagree. It's all hands to the pump for them this season with an inevitable relegation battle at the end.
Milner with a free kick straight through the wall collected sharply by Worm. He's been very impressive regardless of the scoreline.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Oh my goodness - what a goal!!!!!!!
GOAL!!! 4-0 AS AGUERO SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH FROM LONG RANGE AND ARE JOINT TOP WITH BOLTON.
In the immortal words of Chris Matthews, I just felt a tingle up my leg. That was quite magnificent.
4-0!
Interesting that two of the three newly promoted sides are joint bottom.
Oh - Graham might have got a consolation goal back there. Shame.
Danny Graham shot at Hart.
So Aguero knocks both Rooney and Suarez off the Top Scorer mantel. Wow!
Correct Ian , that is QPR and Swansea.
