These two team were the ones battling it out for the last European place last season.
LiverSox were playing the better but Spurs came in to Anfield and won 2-0

My Prem Tv link likes to, for no reason, change to another page. I missed the Adebayor chance!

I have it back now

Spurs are getting some chances.... good break and cross by Bale

8:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

When is Carroll going to get a bloody haircut!!!

8:37 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

WHAT A GOAL!!!!!

MODRIC WITH A BULLET

8:38 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

GOAL! Want away Modric with a super goal!

Spurs 1-0 up!

8:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Right foot shot in the upper ninety!!!

8:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That goal was inside the first 7 minutes!

8:40 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I think Carroll should stick with the ponytail. Players are very sensitive psychologically and even slight changes in their preparation can ruin them. Think about both Torres and Adebayor - neither was as good after they adopted more sensible hairstyles.

8:40 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thank you UWS and BD. As I joined Spurs took the lead.

8:40 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Nice timing!

8:41 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

That goal has Spurs up to mid-table at 11th. Liverpool drop a slot to 7th.

8:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Agger is down hurt. Was this from the goal? He was hurt then too

8:41 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I missed the goal, but I saw the replay. It was a bullet. Someone On Liversox slipped and gave possession away to Gareth Bale.

8:41 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

How are you, MUR?

8:42 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thanks UWS. Was it Agger that slipped.

8:42 AM

Glad I won't be missing the matches today
Congrats on the win Bob. Did Leeds take the lead? Fall behind?

8:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Wonder if Tony and his mate are there today

8:43 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Great BD. How are you? I am a little tired. It's as if I haven't completely recovered from the work week.

8:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Adam in the book

The refs do give out these cards too much

8:44 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Leeds took an early lead, Bristol City tied it up shortly after that. Then Leeds had a player sent off for conceding a penalty. Lonergan saved the penalty, then Leeds scored a late winner. They want to test Bob's blood pressure

8:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

More chances from Spurs!

Great skill with a turn and shot by Modric again... saved by Pepe

8:45 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

We had an early, early lead through Adam Clayton, then our old by Neil Kilkenny came back to haunt us. It was 1-1 at half time. Then with thirty minutes left, Becchio came on to set up McCormack for the winner.

8:45 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Nearly 2-0 as Reina makes a great save from Modric then Liversox struggle to clear.

8:45 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Rangers have tied it at 2 at Ibrox

8:45 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I see what you're saying about the link popping off unannounced.

8:46 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I think Paddy Kisnorbo was sent off when he conceded the penalty. As you stated Alex Bruce will take his place in the battle of the LOB teams in the Carling Cup.

8:47 AM

Skrtel is struggling at right back.It was a great tackle by Agger.

8:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What do you think of Spurs Little and Large front duo?
I guess VDV playing behind

BLOODY HELL.... my link automatically changed again to a completely different website

8:48 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

We've got a really difficult schedule coming up this week. Of course the biggie on Tuesday, which is a revenue builder rather than a proper match. I reckon that your third team could turn us over.

Then we've got Brighton away on Friday evening.

8:49 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

How have you been UWS? I am glad Matt's and Jon's matches went well. You must be exhausted too.

8:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

One one..... NO... offside!! Suarez puts the ball in the net but called back... he was offside

8:50 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I have very nostalgic feelings about the Little and Large duos. I think more teams should try it. It worked like gangbusters in the 70s. Think Keeg and Tosh.

And it almost worked there! My Golden Boot Boy has the ball in the net- but he was offside.

8:50 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Suarez has a goal called back for offside and he was well offside. That was the correct decision Kenny.

8:50 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'm exhausted and I haven't got any kids to look after. How do you two do it?

8:51 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Thanks MUR... very very very busy
Match on Friday, two yesterday
This week matches on Tues, 2 on Wed, Thurs and Saturday. The game on Sat is later so I should be around

As for the Brighton match, you'll be able to watch that Bob

8:52 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I like the little and large pairing. I agree with the Liversox analogy. Suarez's playing style is similar to Keegan's and Carroll to Tosh's. They were Dalglish's predecessors in terms of playing.

8:52 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

When I was talking Little and Large I was talking about Defoe and Adebayor and didn't even think about Suarez and Carroll

8:54 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

My link went to a different web site. I am reloading the link. I may be able to join Bob for part of the Brighton match as I have a late conference period that day.

8:54 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

What bothers me about the way that so many teams line up is that they don't have striking partnerships any more. Two up front used to be standard usually with one or two wide men bombing forward as well. Now it's usually just one striker with perhaps another VDV type player in the hole and perhaps some width.

8:55 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I do agree that Dafoe and Adebayor can work too.I like the pairing.

8:55 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What team do you think SAF will put out today?
Cleverley isn't available so he can't play his starting line up from the other matches

Will Park play in a big game again... he did play on Wednesday though

Who will take Cleverley's place? Giggs? Carrick?

8:55 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Ade goes into the book for a rash one on Carroll.

8:55 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Adebayor is in the book for a late challenge.

8:55 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Forget about today - what side will you put out on Tuesday. I'm hoping for the Tea Ladies XI.

8:56 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I am guessing Carrick or Park because they play that role. I would pick Park because he seems to do well in the big games.

8:56 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Surely not Giggs again today. The old man needs at least a fortnight's recuperation after his antics on Wednesday night.

8:57 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

You might get your wish,BD. I think the Brighton match might be a reunion as Gus was Leeds' assistant and the team did so well when he was Helping Dennis wise.

8:58 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I really think the Scousesox are missing Mereiles - I do not know why they sold him to Chelski.

So here comes Suarez's mate Coates coming on for the struggling Daniel Agger.

8:58 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Coates comes on for his Liversox debut as the big Uruguayan is on for Agger.

8:59 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Indeed - we'll also be meeting up again with Kasper Ankergren on Friday night.

8:59 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Finally, Agger has buggered off... he's been hurt for 20 minutes!!

Coates to replace him. He is from Uruguay.

ADAM IS OFF!!!

8:59 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Rangers have retaken the lead... 3-2

8:59 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Red card for Charlie Adam!

It's his second yellow - he did catch Parker there but I think it's a bit harsh.

9:00 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Charlie Adam is off for an early bath as he receives a second yellow as he was high and late on Scott Parker. It will be an uphill battle for Liversox.

9:00 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He had his eye on the ball all the time
I think the first one was harsh

9:00 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Wow - the link popped off and it went straight to a leaked image of ScarJo's bum. Not that I'm complaining that much but...I'm trying to watch the match, lads!

9:00 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bale to take the free kick... into the wall

9:01 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It will be a Spurs free kick just outside the box.Bale shoots into the wall.

9:01 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'm back on again. You know, I remember when a red card was really rare and almost a humiliation for the player involved. Now it's akin to fouling out of a game in basketball. Adam hardly looked humiliated there - more like bemused as he trotted off.

9:02 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I forgot about Ankergren. I thought he did a great job for Leeds.

9:02 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I thought he would feel humiliated as his team are down a player after falling behind with a great part of the match remaining.

9:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

GORDON BENNETT!!

My website did it again!! I wasn't anywhere near the computer and it all of a sudden changes to an advertisement website... has it happened to you?

9:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Liverpool fan Al_Khulaq on Twitter: "Tottenham fans singing to us are you Arsenal disguise - cheeky."

9:04 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

If I didn't know it then , then I know it now. Andy Carroll can't defend!

9:04 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Yeah - it's happened a few times. It launches you onto "My Damned Channel," featuring a close-up shot of ScarJo's bum. Put me right off my breakies, that did.

9:05 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

They may be. At least their defense isn't nearly as soft.

9:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree with you Bob about Reds... it happens far too much

9:05 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Lucas gives away a dangerous free kick now. Bale can line another one up.

9:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Speaking of Reds... Celtic just got one

9:06 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

We've had four red cards already in only seven matches played in the league - that's absurd!

9:06 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Spurs have another free kick. The link paused, but it looked like Bale shot over from the free kick.

9:06 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Still only 1-0... doesn't feel like it

9:07 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Liverpool are just not clicking at all today. What's happened to them. They were flying before the International Break.

9:07 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It sounds like an exciting Old Firm match

9:07 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Now it's Skrtel who's been booked. The referee is very card happy today.

9:08 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now Skrtel is booked as I listen to some yoyo talk about teaching financial theory.

9:08 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

The Old Firm teams, I noticed, are already five or six points separated from the rest of the pack. Ho hum.

9:08 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree. Kenny will not be pleased. It sure will make it easier for Bale to take advantage.

9:09 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I suppose that ScarJo's bum is preferable to the chatter about the financial system. I shouldn't complain.

9:09 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I think Motherwell would be up there , but for that thrashing against Rangers

9:10 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Another card... I think they are given out far too much

Watch video of the 70s and 80s.... the tackles were hard and called but not carded.
Souness would have been sent off every match!

The cards I don't like is when players are going for the ball and the striker moves it at the last minute.... it was skill that beat the defender!

I think it is money... the players are too valuable and too pampered

9:10 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I would prefer listening to talk about her bum.

9:11 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

How many cards will Liverpool get??
Another one for Sebastian Coates

9:11 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I agree UWS. Spot on!

9:11 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Now it's Coates who's booked for bringing down Adebayor. This is getting out of hand. The crowd was baying for a red!

9:11 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Coates is booked for a foul outside the box as he fouled Adebayor.

9:12 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Fans cheering Adebayor.... strange isn't it

We are just all fans of LAUNDRY! What shirt they're wearing is all that matters!

9:13 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The free kick from Modric is deflected on to the roof of the net for a corner.

9:13 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Modric takes...into the wall and out for a corner.

9:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

ooh Defoe whips the ball across there but no one was there... they need an Arsenal defender in there to poke it in!!!

9:13 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Dafoe volleys wide as header from the corner made it his way.

9:13 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Speaking of laundry....thanks for the reminder, mate!

9:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Spurs really need another one

9:14 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Boom boom, UWS. But Gooner wouldn't have appreciated that.

9:14 AM

9:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Four added minutes

9:17 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Four minutes of stoppage time.

9:17 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The only good thing for Liversox is that it is only 1-0.

9:19 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Useless by Coates. A tough debut for the defender.

9:20 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

This half has gone on forever. Blow up, ref. I've got to have a slash.

9:21 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Bloody hell - Suarez has got a yellow for sarcastic clapping now!

9:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Suarez in the book for his mouth and gestures..... how many cards have there been

Half time
Only 1-0

9:21 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

This is ridiculous. That was a petty yellow card for Suarez. It is 1-0 to Spurs at halftime as this is a half that Liversox will want to forget.

9:22 AM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

That's half-time then. 1-0 to the Spurs from the one moment of real quality. The ref has rather ruined the affair in my mind with needless interventions.

9:22 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am trying to find out who is actually covering the Citeh match. I don't think it is on any sky channel

9:22 AM

9:48 AM

Oh - that was poor from Ade. He just didn't have the confidence to hit it with his left peg.

9:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

A chance for Defoe and Adebayor to break but wasted

9:50 AM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I think Harry wants Parker to be more of a holding midfielder than at West Ham where he was the play maker. He will have a more defensive role at Spurs. This is my best guess.

I agree., UWS. Are the players deciding who wins this match or the ref? I hate when refs decide a match.

Defoe settles it!!

The ref has done his best to put this to bed but a nice finish by Defoe... Shielded well, turned and in

GOAL! Oh - Defoe did so well there. He was played through by Bale but still had a lot of ground and Enrique to beat. He did that with a lovely turn and then shot well into the near corner.

2-0!

This is the first score that I wanted today
A London team in white playing at home winning.
A second London team playing in white playing at home to win in the next match please

The other London, in blue, can stink up the joint!
