There's Gonna Be A Nasty Accident!
Board up your windows, East Enders, as someone is definitely going home in an effing ambulance today as West Ham go into the Lion's Den of Millwall for a match that WHR once said should never be played. Should get lively. That's followed in short with Arsenal's trip to Blackburn. The big boys may be playing on Sunday, but it's a fascinating day in English footer. Join me for all the usual LOB coverage.

Good morning everyone. It's still dark outside to the point where it could be 2 AM and I wouldn't know the difference. College Football is on the Deuce.
Morning, MUR. Glad to have you on board at this ungodly hour. I've got the usual bagel and coffee at the ready as the ESPN2 coverage of Blackburn v. Arse has started.
West Ham have kicked off at Evil Millwall but there isn't any telly coverage that I can see.
Your post and illustration are perfect for today's matches. I am aware of the hatred between the two East London clubs that goes back to the early days of English football. There are two local Derbies in the Championship today as Millwall take on West Ham and an East Midlands Derby as Forest host Derby County. I am surprised that WHR stated that this fixture shouldn't be played. I believe he is stating that due to fan safety and extreme hooliganism on the part of the fans.
Hello BD.Great picture of the Lancashire Moors.Steve Keen is under fire as the Blackburn fans protest. This could be a tricky fixture for the Gunners. The coffee is brewing and my wife woke up to fix French toast. She couldn't sleep.
The better matches are definitely tomorrow. I think the heated East London Derby might be the MOD today.
Morning boys,
I am here for the first match but will miss the 10 o'clockers. Jon has a game 10 and Matt has one at 11
Morning, UWS. I appreciate the praise. That image is from the last time West Ham met Millwall at the Den but it appears that Blackburn fans have beaten them to it this morning with their lively protest against Steve Kean.
RVP has scored ten goal in 11 appearances against Blackburn. Wenger sounded rather testy in that interview.Stevie Mac fells the gunners will struggle this season.
The team news out of Ewood Park today:
Blackburn (4-4-2) Robinson; Salgado, Samba, Dann, Givet; Rochina, Lowe, Nzonzi, Hoilett; Formica, Yakubu. Subs: Bunn, Olsson, Grella, Petrovic, Vukcevic, Roberts, Hanley.
Arsenal (4-2-3-1) Szczesny; Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Andre Santos; Song, Arteta; Arshavin, Ramsey, Gervinho; van Persie.
Subs: Fabianski, Walcott, Djourou, Gibbs, Chamakh, Benayoun, Coquelin.
Referee Andre Marriner
Good morning UWS. I wish Matt and Jon the best.
I heard that you lads had some cooler weather in the past few days. May we have some please? A little rain or more would help.
It's been a lively opening to the match at the Den with Millwall dominating proceedings.
Lovely cool weather up here. But I've got a case of the sniffles this morning. I was supposed to attend a Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Celebration down on the lake today but I reckon I'll beg out of that one.
I hope Big Chris Samba clatters those Lilliputian Gunners as the match kicks off from Ewood Park.
I had the sniffles starting Monday and started getting better yesterday. I hope you feel better. It is best that you get your rest.
It is very nippy outside
The lively Hoilett goes through the Gunners defense , but crosses to Szezny.
Hoilett shows some early pace against Sagna before knocking his cross into Sczesny's arms.
We last had nippy weather in early February. It is still warm and humid in Texas.
Cheers, mate. I've got a couple of DVDs lined up for the afternoon's entertainment.
Great turn by Rochina, but a poor finish.
I am surprised that there is not a late match today.
Barcelona's B team got promoted to La Ligue last year but couldn't come up because of the A team!
I hate that
RVP volleys wide as the cross was behind him.
Sounds like Jack Wilshere has a rare foot disease.
I guess the problem is that they can't play against the A team and they could be accused of throwing matches to help their A team.
That is horrible news. He is the one player that I respect on the Gunners. That would be a huge loss and he seems like a great lad.
Scott Dann clears off the line from an RVP header.
All the early running here from Blackburn. Arsenal look rather ordinary.
I agree. The U.S. could use Hoilett if he is elligible. Sign him up today.
GOAL! Gervinho has scored his debut goal in the Premiership!
GOAL!!! 0-1 GUNNERS AS GERVINHO SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH AND A SUPERB PASS FROM SONG.
The Arse take the lead... lovely pass by Song.
Gervinho with a nice finish
Great ball through from Song and Samba was a wee bit sluggish tracking Gervinho, who turned well and shot into the bottom left corner.
0-1!
Did I answer the riddle correctly or was it a non English team for the Fairs Cup record? I think I want to take another stab at it if I was wrong.
The first goal of the day in English football.
Macca thinks that Arsenal have started well but I reckon that was their first real chance and it was slightly against the run of play.
More pressure on Kean, though. They're now at -5 GD and have slipped to the bottom of the league again.
UWS nabbed the answer to that one. It was Barcelona who won the Fairs in 1958, 1960 and 1966. Also runners up in 1962. But haven't been in the also-ran tourney for ages.
That was tricky. I would have never guessed that.
There was talk that the Wolves QPR match may have to be postponed because of a power outage in Wolverhampton
Breaking News
Power back on at Molineux... Game On!
I think Gervinho could score more goals than RVP this season. Arsenal fans are finally waking up to the realization that Robin is rather rubbish. For years his injuries hid that reality.
The Gunners have 64% of the possession.
Where's my prize???
The Gunners are starting to take control . I do agree about RVP. It would be a good time to start looking for a replacement.
Still 0-0 at the Den. Forest v. Derby has kicked off as well. It's a busy early afternoon in England.
The East Midlands Derby kicks off as Salgado comes off injured and is replaced by Petrovic.
Why hasn't anyone in TV Land every mentioned United winning the Championship 100 years apart TWICE!!
1908-2008
1911-2011
The winners of the next championships in the 1900s were all no hopers at this time. I think the next one that could happen is Liverpool in the 2020s
ooh
Three Rover players could have put that header in!!
Samba head wide from the free kick with a free header that should have been 1-1.
Salgado has done his hammy and trudges off.
Oh - from the free kick, Samba should have scored. That's the Blackburn plan in a nutshell but he missed badly.
I would call the Championship match
The Clough Clash
The Riddlers are just for fun, UWS. Please no wagering.
Nice hit by Arse Shaven (hehehe) saved by Robbo
Superb save from Robinson as that was a great long range volley from Arshavin.
well stated, UWS. Brian managed both clubs and won a championship with both clubs.
Oh - Robbo beat out another sharp strike by Gervinho there!
Nice run and shot by Drogs Jr...saved again by Robbo
Gervinho forces a strong save by Robinson.
Remember Nigel is the Derby manager
Another corner for the Gunners as they are going for a second.
The corner is cleared and Blackburn counter.
It's not raining... it's Blackburn crying
The typical rain is coming down in Lancashire.
Frank Fielding has been sent off for Derby in the 2nd minute for "violent conduct."
And Forest have taken the lead shortly after - a penalty from Andy Reid.
That is correct, UWS. Derby county have a second Cloughie in charge.Dad was much more successful.
Oh - Gervinho could have done better there as Sagna played a lovely cut back.
GOAL! Feed the Yak! 1-1!
Arsenal could score a boatload today!!
WHAT A SHOCK..... FEED THE YAK
Yakubu scores and Blackburn, undeservedly, equalize
YES!!!! GOAL . BIG CHRIS TIE IT UP IN THE POURING RAIN WITH A GREAT FINISH AND A SUPERB PASS FROM HOILETT. 1-1.
Great finish from the big man as he was played through. Blackburn aren't crying any more.
OOOPS! IT WAS THE YAK , NOT SAMBA.
It sounds like it will be a long day for Nigel.
I don't know. Ian Darke was larding the praise on Arsenal but I didn't think they were playing that well. 1-1 is a fairer representation of the play.
Did you hear the rumor that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being considered for the Rovers job?
Arsenal have had a lot of chances. Just before the goal, I posted that I thought Arsenal could score a boatload... now it is Blackburn with all the play
I like the post about United winning the Championships 100 years apart. I do think that the no hopers will not add to their tally. I think the Manchester clubs will be challenging. As for Liversox, may it be later than the 2020's.
Big Chris heads wide from the corner as the Gunners were playing head tennis, but heading the wrong way.
Sagna is down injured from a strong challenge by Scott Dann.
Scott Dann with a rather agricultural challenge on Sagna.
I was not aware of that, UWS. I loved him as a player, but I wonder what type of coaching credentials and experience he has.
I'd love to see the Baby-Faced Assassin back in English footie.
The Yak has four in his last three starts vs the Gunners!
GOAL! Arteta with a classic Arse goal!
GOAL!!1-2 GUNNERS AS ARTETA SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH OFF A GREAT CROSS FROM THE RIGHT.
Great team goal there with Song finding Ramsey out wide, super cut back and Arteta scored for the second time in two weeks for the Gunners.
1-2!
The halftime score in the East London Derby is 0-0.
I'm picturing Macca and the missus at the Adele concert last night. Lovely.
I quite like her and her new album "21."
it was Ramsey with that superb cross.
It's half-time at the Den. 0-0. Few fireworks on the pitch so far.
I agree that it would be great to see the Baby Face Assassin in English Footie, but Rovers would be a tough challenge, especially with their wacko owners.
I am not sure about Macca's missus. Sounds rather tasty from your description.
Miss the goal.. I was in the loo!
As for OGS, he has been doing a good job with the United reserves
Givet concedes another corner for the Gunners.
Kos heads wide from the short corner.
Dunno about tasty. Macca's not the type to marry a Cheryl Cole style popstar. His wife Victoria is a barrister, apparently.
Arsenal had a chance to counter there but Gervinho's ball to Arshavin was wayward.
I am back from a much needed trip to the loo. I was trying to hold out until halftime .
Oh - Gervinho did really well there again from Arshavin's pass but Dann saved Blackburn's bacon.
Gervinho has a shot deflected by Scott Dann for a corner.
Robbo catches the corner.
Did you flush any budgies, MUR? Cos that's dangerous, they breed in the sewers and such.
Than you for the clarification, BD. We need to be careful not to slander Macca!
Two minutes of stoppage time.
At this time of the morning anything could be going down the sewers. It's definitely a dangerous time of the morning.
The ten men of Derby County have tied it up vs Forest. it is 1-1.
Half time with the Gunners with the lead
Gooner will be happy
The Gunners have a 1-2 halftime lead at Ewood Park.
Absolutely - Arsenal fans have to be happy with the way that Arteta has fit in. He looks as if he's been playing for the Gunners all his life.
Jamie Ward scored the goal for Derby County.
I agree. Arteta has done well.I guess Mertesacker has done okay in the center of the defense as that was that was a need for the Gunners.
List of League Champs for the next 100 year winner
1912 Blackburn
1913 Sunderland
1914 Blackburn
1915 Everton
WW1
1920 WBA
1921 Burnley
1922 Liverpoll
1923 Liverpool
Followed by a hat-trick of Huddersfield Championships
Maybe Arsenal in 2033
The second half has kicked off from the New Den.
Citeh are on early next Saturday at home against Everton
United are away at Stoke
Perhaps,UWS.Other than the Sox in 2022 and 2023 I see no chance of a repeat. The Gunners are a possibility in 2033.
It sounds like a better Saturday next week.
I should have known that OGS is in charge of the reserves. I am pleased to hear that he is doing well.He is one of my favorite all time United players. Rovers would be a tough challenge, especially with the Wacko Ownership group.
You'll think me mad, MUR, but I may have to wheel out the Amish space heater before the day is out for an early debut this season. It's chilly!
I see the Arse won in 1931 too
andymcnamara on Twitter: "Re. WinthorpeIII. Great! All Everton fans need now is for Beckford to score for Leicester later on."
Couldn't agree more.... I have to go sit in a bloody field for 4 hours!
I don't think so,BD. I heard that you have some chilly mornings this week. Our air conditioner still runs regularly. Please send us some of that cool air.My forehead is a tad damp.
WOW! This sounds like winter weather in Harlingen. We don't start seeing anything like that till Thanksgiving at the earliest.
I wear shorts when I wait out with my daughter for the bus early in the morning.
Arsenal about to kick off in the second half at Ewood Park.
The second half kicks off from Ewood Park.
We could use some of that rain!
I could go for one of those Balti chicken pies they're selling at Ewood today.
I would try some of everything from that stand. It all looked delicious. If I lived in Blackburn I would come for the food rather than the footie.
I am about to become intermittent with my presence here
Off to drop off Jon, then Matt soon after
Blackburn have an early free kick out wide right.
Clumsy challenge by Arshavin on new boy, Lowe about a foot outside the box.
GOAL! Blackburn are back in it!
2-2!
wow... Rovers have tied it up... scrappy..og?
Beautiful finish by Song
YES ! 2-2 AS SONG SCORES AN OG OFF THE FREE KICK. IT WAS AWFUL DEFENDING FRO THE GUNNERS.
We need those torrential downpours in Texas.
Routine cross over and somehow it rockets off Song's knee into the goal. Horrible own goal to give up.
Arshavin has a shot deflected for a corner.
The corner skips across the box on the wet pitch.
The halftime score in the East Midlands Derby is 1-1.
Sagna has picked up a knock, which means that Johan Djourou is going to have the opportunity to get wet today.
Djourou is on for the injured Sagna.
Oh - Formica was nearly in there as Mertesacker went walkabout.
what a chance for Rochina as he was through with just the keeper to beat but Szezny made a great save. Poor defending from Mertesacker.
Rochina was through, but not enough Rovers were up to support him.
Martin Olsson is on for the lively Rochina.
Djourou is booked for holding back Hoillet.
Djourou is finding it hard to get into the pace of the match. Yellow card there and another free kick.
A poor free kick is easily cleared by RVP of all people.
The only leader on the pitch is Big Chris. I am sure the Gunners would love to have him in their lineup as Martin Olsson wins a corner off of Djourou.
GOAL! Blackburn are in front! Yak again!
YES! THE YAK DEFLECTS A SHOT FROM THAT CORNER IN THE NET AND RIVERS LEAD 3-2.
That's five in three matches for the Big Yak against the Gunners.
The Arse are a bit hard done by on that one - Yak was offside as he tapped in.
But it's another set piece that's done in the Arse. They shouldn't be giving up so many. And they're completely static when defending them. Schoolboy stuff.
I am surprised that they have conceded so many goals this season. I thought The Yak was level, and if in doubt, the decision goes to the attacker.
Formica is struggling off now.
Desperate stuff there from RVP blasting into Lowe instead of picking out a teammate.
A great run by Gervinho and Rvp has a shot blocked by Lowe for a corner.RVP heads wide from the corner at the near post.
I am back from my first jaunt... Arsenal losing!!
WOW
Theo is on for Arshavin. A good decision by the Gunners.
As BD stated, Formica is off , and the Montenegran international, Simon Vucinevic , is on.
This has been a real thriller but you won't Gooners celebrating. It's really shown up their weaknesses at the back.
Welcome back, UWS. This is turning into a great football match.
Dann will pick up a booking for hacking Theo.
Scott Dann is booked for a foul on Theo just outside the box.
Not one of RVP's better deliveries. He normally whips those in to the back post
Gunner old boy, John Jensen, is on the Rovers coaching staff. He only scored once for the Gunners.
GOAL! A second own goal! Catastrophe at the back for the Gunners!
Last time Rovers came back to win a game in the Prem was against Arsenal two years ago
OMG... another OG!!!!!
Yak 2 OG 2... who's going to get the hat-trick first
WHAT A HORRIBLE BIT OF DEFENDING!!!
GOAL!!! 4-2 ROVERS. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT AS ANOTHER OG IS SCORED, THIS TIME FROM KOS.IT WAS TOO EASY FOR MARTIN OLSSON AS HE CROSSED FOR THAT OG.
It's a catalog of errors there. First by Djourou diving in on Olsson, then Sczesny who missed the cross and then Koscielny sweeping into his own net.
4-2!
Another shameful moment for Wenger and his staff as Olsson is booked for excessive celebration.
Arsenal have a -9 goal difference!!
Will this result save Steve Kean's job?
Rovers look like the team challenging for a CL spot.
Still 20 minutes left to play, unbelievably. We've already had six goals here. Will we see more?
It must save Steve Keen's job.
Arsenal's GD is now -8 as they sink below Blackburn to 13th.
Great punch by Robbo from a cross by Andy Two Saints.
What is up with Arsenal? I know that they lost some players but they still have some decent players on the pitch
Failed to beat Newcastle
Lost to Liverpool
Lost to United
Should not have beaten Swansea
And now this!
I really do feel for Steve
The cross from Theo was just too high.
The East End derby seems to be creaking along to a 0-0 finish.
-9
Newcastle 0
Liverpool -2
United -8
Swansea -7
Today -9
Also , Steve Keen vs undefeated vs the Gunners. A 0-0 draw at the EM and winning 4-2 at Ewood Park. I feel for Steve too.
Macca's Manc select team!!
He hates United and used to play for Citeh... how fair is that going to be?
What a stat....
Blackburn have only had THREE shots on target and have scored FOUR goals!!!!
I agree. It sounds rather biased.
Nice save by Robbo but a foul called anyway!
Even with this season, there is no way I would ever let Arsene go
Chamakh is on for Song in a much needed attacking move and nearly scores as Robbo makes a great save, but he was called for a push on Big Chris.
Rovers would jump from rock bottom to 11th
I agree, UWS. Any time you have a stat like that then the back four is a bunch of clowns.
Nzonzi shoots straight at Szezny.
Poor by Olsson. He should have been booked for that dive. We don't need that in what has been a great match.
HE TRIPPED OVER HIS OWN FEET!!!
If the cult of Arsene continues to hold sway at the Emirates, Arsenal will never progress. They should have moved him upstairs a couple of seasons ago and brought in a winning manager. Everyone would have been happy. Now he'll have to get the sack.
I actually don't think it was a dive... he actually tripped over his own feet
I agree, BD.They should have moved him up. Now he will end a great career in disgrace.
How does changing the manager ever help except for a few games at the start of the reign.
Who is better?
Will it be Moyes? Of course, he's won nowt
It seemed like a dive, but he probably fell over. Either way, Ramsey was unfortunate.
