Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Come on, England!

Unfortunately, I'll be out of commission today as England enter Montenegro in a quest for that last point that will mean topping the group and qualifying automatically for next summer's Euro 2012 festivities in Poland and Ukraine. I thought I'd post this thread to get the conversation started. Come on, England!

I may be here for a little bit before leaving for Jon's game

On a differnet topic, I was thinking, why hasn't Roy Keane's name been brought up for Nott'm Forest job? He began his career there!

Might nip round the pub for this one if there's time this afternoon.

Wearing the lucky shirt at work nevertheless and hoping for no client visits.

I left for two minutes and ENGLAND HAVE SCORED!!

ASHLEY YOUNG WITH THE GOAL!

England goal: It's been coming... and England are on the brink of the 2012 Euros. Wayne Rooney feeds Theo Walcott on the right and the winger's fabulous cross lays it on a plate for Ashley Young to head a simple goal home from six yards out. Easy.

EURO 2012 QUALIFIERS R-UP: Unlike Scotland, the news is less good elsewhere for Northern Ireland as Serbia equalise against Italy to make it 1-1 in a game Nigel Worthington's men need them to lose. Northern Ireland, on nine, are second from bottom five points ahead of Faroe Islands who languish at the bottom on four points.

Just got from Jonathan's game
Someone checked the score on their phone for me and I actually watched text of the score becoming final!!

ENGLAND HAVE QUALIFIED BUT.... they blew a two goal lead through Young and Bent! Montenegro scored with the last kick of the half... Wayne Rooney gets a straight red.... Montenegro score close to the 90th minute but the Three Lions survive!!!! PHEW!

Rooney will be banned for at least the first game at next summer's tournament!

From the BBC
England red card: Crazy. Stupid. Baffling. Wayne Rooney, frustrated probably not only by losing the ball to Miodrag Dzudovic but also England's second half display, lashes out violently and utterly foolishly at the Montenegrin player with his right boot, sending Dzudovic to the ground, and referee Wolfgang Stark immediately brandishes a red card. Not what England needed.

Marvelous! I can't be more delighted by England's progression to the Euros, even through a draw. Can't wait to analyze that Wayne Rooney red. Thanks for the updates, lads!
