Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Riddler of the Week

Now that the Euro qualifiers are done and dusted, it's Footie Riddler time again:

"Sol Campbell holds the England record for most consecutive major tournament appearances. How many tournaments did he appear in? And what were they?"

Good luck, chaps!

I would say 6 tournaments

How about Euro 96, WC98, Euro 00, WC02, Euro 04 and WC 06

Not sure if he played in the first and last one of this list but I am going to go for it and say yes

I agree with UWS. It must be those tournaments. It could not be anything else.

Spot on, UWS - no flies on you today. It is those six tournaments. I don't honestly remember him at Euro 96 and I was there live for that one! I remember him from WC 1998 in France largely for his disallowed headed winning goal against Argentina in the Round of 16.

According to Wikipedia

He won a cap before Euro 96 when coming on as a sub and came on as sub against Scotland in the tourney itself

He was obviously in WC 98
I agree with you about his headed goal against Argentina...I was dancing around with my two month old son in arms and then...

Played in Euro 00, WC 02 and Euro 04

In WC 06, he was third choice centerback with Terry and Rio starting. He did replace Rio when he got a knock

Good question btw
