Snowed in with the Footer
We'd had our first proper snowstorm of the season in western New York, so what better than to stay in by the space heater and watch the good stuff. There's no early Premiership match but I'll be following the big Championship match between table toppers Soton against Blackpool. That's followed by the usual slate of Premiership and Championship 3pm GMT kickoffs including United trying to get back on track against woeful Wolves. Join me for all the usual LOB fun and games.

I've got the early one going from St. Mary's here:
http://www.firstrowsports.tv/watch/96942/1/watch-southampton-fc-vs-blackpool-fc.html
Two good footballing sides on display here. Soton are odds on favorites to win the title at this point, while Blackpool will surely be around for the playoffs. A Soton win benefits Leeds today.
GOAL! Soton get the breakthrough just before the half hour mark.
Eardley coughed up the ball badly there and Lalana did well to pick up the crumbs, deliver a good ball over to Lambert - the top scorer in the league. He did the biz with the help of a deflection past Jilks.
Blackpool are back in it! 1-1!
A whiff of offside there are McManaman whips in a great cross and Chris Basham tips home.
Game on!
Good morning,BD. I woke up early to take Melanie to the bus stop so she could go to a tennis tournament, but it has been cancelled due to the weather. Our first decent rain in months!I took Elizabeth an Jacquelyn to Walmart and just arrived back home.
OH! Blackpool nearly took the lead as Matt Phillips had a shot come off the post.
Evatt is first into the referee's book.
Morning, MUR! Great to have you on board. Rain for you lot, and snow for us. Normal service resumed, eh?
Congratulations are in order for your first proper snow storm of the season!
I am not sure,BD. We don't have rain scheduled on any other days, but we will take what we can get.
The link crashed and it is time to refresh.
The link craps out just in time for the half-time interval.
I am back on link 2 since link 1 was deleted due to copyright infringement as there will be two minutes of stoppage time.
Halftime and 1-1 from St. Mary's .
GOAL 1-2 BLACKPOOL AS MCMANAMAN PUTS BLACKPOOL IN THE LEAD THANKS TO A HOWLER FROM THE KEEPER.
Matt Gilks fumbles a shot from Da Prado , but gathers the rebound.
I'm back from the break and on the same link as you are. I'm not happy with that second Tangerines goal - that's no good at all for us.
Just wide by Sotton skipper,Hammond.
Bialkoski gathers a cross , which should help his confidence after that howler for the second Blackpool goal.
Ricky Lambert and Barry Ferguson are booked for some afters as a throw was about to be taken.
Sotton make a double sub as Steve De Ridder is on for Dean Hammonmd and Dan Harding is on for Fox.
So when are you finished for the break, mate?
Morning Boys
How will my United boys do? I am not too confident. United's line up has just been announced on Five Live
De Gea
Evra
Smalling
Rio
Evans
Jones
Carrick
Valencia
Nani
Welbeck
Rooney
I am surprised that Jones has not moved into Vidic's position for the long haul... I don't like Evans!!
My last day of class is Tuesday December 20th. When is your last day?
Are you getting snow Bob?
We still have mild weather!
Good morning,UWS. I have a feeling that we will make hard work of a poor Wolves team and win 1-0. why did he keep the same team that lost in Switzerland?
Sotton's 100% home record is in jeopardy. Why are there so many empty seats for a team that is top of the table and that has won every home match?
Morning, UWS! We did have a significant snow storm overnight and quite a bit of accumulation - maybe a foot.
There were 4 changes
Vidic of course
Young
Park
Giggs
In comes
Evans
Carrick
Welbeck
Valencia
Morgan Schneiderlin is booked for Sotton.
Looks like it's Arsenal v. Everton on the channel.
Wow, we have bright sunshine!
What are your thoughts about Evans playing next to Rio instead of Jones
Thanks ,UWS. I like Welbeck and Valencia for Giggs and Young, but agree that Evans should not be starting in Vidic's position. I fell that father time has caught up with Giggs.
I'm not keen on the idea of Jonny Evans replacing Vidic. Shouldn't it be Chris Smalling instead and then one of the Brazilian twins out at right back?
Still not sure where Phil Jones is playing. He is the David Luiz of ManYoo.
It is overcast and drizzling, but mild in Harlingen.
I was out and about last night because I was committed to two work related events and it was bloody treacherous. To paraphrase our old LHS bus driver Trevor - "it's like a palette of ice out there, it is!"
I actually like Phil Jones and agree with UWS that he should be playing in the center of defense. I like the idea that Smalling is starting.
Ex Sotton striker , Super Kev, is on for goal scorer, McManaman.
Yes, Arsenal v Everton are on FSC... Arsenal have had a lot of celebration stuff for their 125th birthday
United v Wolves are ESPN2
I'd like to see Jones in the middle with Rio. Smalling has done well on the right.
BTW, both twins are out injured
Headed just over by Da Prado.
I am not too keen on Rio as he has lost a step, but I guess he is better than anyone we have at that position.
No guesses as to which match you'll be watching. I'll join you on the Deuce.
All the matches today are 10 o'clockers
FSC are showing a tape delay game from Carrow Road
Arsenal v Everton
Bolton v Aston Villa
Liverpool v QPR
Man Utd v Wolves
Norwich v Newcastle
Swansea v Fulham
WBA v Wigan
We used to do this... let's have some predictions for all of these games
Chris Basham is booked for a clumsy challenge for Blackpool.
Rangers have won 2-0 at Hibs
Celtic play Hearts at home
Edinburgh v Glasgow in both matches
Tresor Lua Lua is booed for his Pompey connections, as he is on for Basham.
InfostradaLive, our statistical friends, on Twitter: "There have been 19,934 goals scored in Premier League history. We are 66 short of reaching the 20,000 milestone."
How long will it take to score 66 goals Three weeks?
Blackpool really finishing the stronger of the two with SuperKev adding some spice. Still hoping for a Soton equalizer.
Here are my predictions.
Arsenal 3 Everton 1
Bolton 1 Villa 1
Liverpool 2 QPR 1
Man Yoo 1 Wolves 0
Norwich 1 Newcastle 2
Swansea 0 Fulham 0
WBA 2 Wigan 0
Speaking of Premiership goals, I heard recently that that super striker "Own Goal" is getting close to topping the Premiership scoring table.
That sounds about right if there are 2.5 goals per match then the 20,000 goal milestone will be achieved in the third set of matches.
I should have been on him to be top scorer as that would have helped my standings in the PPP table.
If Sotton lose this match and the Hammers win at Reading then the Hammers will top the table this evening.
Five minutes of stoppage time as Lambert had a shot blocked from a great Da Prado cross.
Oh - referee - surely a penalty there!
Sotton had two shouts for a penalty, but Llana fell easily in the box, then Cathcart appeared to nudge Schneiderlin. Thomas Ince is on for Blackpool as Lua Lua has a shot land in the side netting on the break.
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
Ricky Lambert with the late equslizer!
GOAL ! 2-2 AS RICKY lAMBERT SCORES WITH A HEADER AT THE FAR POST FROM A GREAT CROSS.
I AM SURE YOU ARE PLEASED ,bd
gREAT TACKLE BY cREANEY ON dE rIDDER.
Glad to see that Sotton are level
All over 2-2
Will the Hammers still go top with a win?
Sotton had won 19 straight league games at home
That's that, then. That late equalizer for Soton leaves the Championship table looking like this:
1. Soton - 42 pts (+21 GD)
2. West Ham - 40 pts (+19 GD)
3. Cardiff - 35 pts (+12 GD)
4. Boro - 35 pts (+7 GD)
5. Leeds - 34 pts (+7 GD)
6. Hull - 33 pts (+1 GD)
7. Brighton - 32 pts (+2 GD)
8. Blackpool - 31 pts (+7 GD)
It finishes 2-2 as Sotton's 20 game home winning streak is halted, but they are still unbeaten at St. Mary's this season thanks to a late equalizer by Ricky Lambert. Sotton will feel that they would have won if not for that howler by Sotton keeper, Bialkowski.
That means the Hammers go top if they win at Reading . John would be pleased
Soccer Saturday

I changing links.... this one is bugging me
New link
http://www.justin.tv/boxingukguru#/w/2219373136
Cheers UWS.
Just went to take out the trash and bring in the morning paper. It is windy with a steady light rain , but mild outside. It is not enough to end the drought.
ESPN are talking about Rooney playing too deep starting against Everton. I think he has done that a lot before Everton
Thanks for the SS link, boys. I'm enjoying a bit of an MOT sing-song right now.
Arsenal vs Everton would interest Gooner and Someone, but UWS and Yours Truly will have all eyes on the Deuce. The 125th anniversary celebrations are in full flow at The EM as a statue was unveiled.
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
I think Roon has lot his edge period. It has nothing to do with his position on the pitch.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Where are your predictions UWS and BD?
I truthfully wish he left!
Here's the line-up for the good guys away to Watford at Vicarage Road today:
United: McCarthy, Connolly, Lees, Kisnorbo, White, Sam, Pugh, Clayton, Snodgrass, Becchio, Keogh. Subs: Lonergan, Vayrynen, Brown, McCormack, O'Dea.
Great to see Andy Lonergan back on the bench today.
The match kicks off from OT.
Kick off at Old Trafford and FSC are still on commerical
We're underway at OT and United have apparently won the toss. Will be attacking the Stretford End in the second half.
Wolves get a shot off less than 30 seconds in.... we had the kick off
Steven Fletcher shoots wide as Wolves have the first chance of the match.
I second that, UWS. It would be good riddance to Roon.
Great home form
Draws against Benficia and Newcastle and a loss to Palace... not exactly top notch opponents!
Valencia starting ahead of Ashley Young today - interesting.
Again, United trying to be too cute outside the box
USeless cross by Smalling
Useless cross by Smalling after a decent position.
Great cross by Nani... where was ROONEY!!!
Oh - great ball over from my boy Nani but no one was there to toe it home.
I agree with Valencia starting ahead of Young.
Rooney's in the Scholes role as usual. He sprayed a lovely ball out to Nani in that move. But as usual Fergie has gone with a side without a proper striker.
Roon tries to chip... HE IS REALLY ANNOYING ME
Roon has a shot blocked, but Hennessey prevents the corner.
I don't think Fergie is putting him in the midfield... he is doing it himself. I am surprised that Fergie allows him to do it
Ian Darke is right - Hennessy's jersey is mighty close to the Wolves gold. Odd.
oooh great header by Carrick... just over
Carrick arriving with a diving header to meet Valencia's cross. Over the bar.
OH! Carrick headed just over from a great cross by Valencia after a pass from Roon.
When has SS started having fans behind them when Merse and co are talking
Well that explains it. Carrick hasn't scored in 68 games!
Merse is cheering for Wolves.
Fergie must recognize that it's the position that he feels most comfortable with. He's never been a six yard box sniffer, has he? So why keep your top scorer from last season on the bench? I don't get it. Did Drac poison one of Fergie's horses?
It's raining at OT just as it is in Harlingen.
I agree but I think Berba is still hurt with an ankle injury from the Palace game
Drac must have done something to irk Fergie.
Rooney takes too long to make a decision what to do. Took forever to decide to shoot... weak
Roon forces a decent save from Hennessey with a decent long range effort.
Tony Cottee at Vicarage Road.. he says the hosts are on top
Oh dear - Watford have started the brighter according to Tony Cottee. He seems to have the Leeds beat this season.
No goals yet in the first 15 minutes around the country.
Useless by Roon and Nani when they should have tested Hennessey.
Valencia wins a United corner.
Afters between Berra and Jones.Useless corner from Nani.
Comical announcing by Phil Thompson. Bloody Useless!
useless corner
Merse says United are looking impressive
Not in my book... passing okay but creating anything!
Rain sheeting down in Manchester today.
No goals in the top two divisions!
ROONEY MISSES ANOTHER CHANCE!!
Great save by Hennesey from Roon, but he should have scored.
Another useless corner
I prefer the short ones if they can't beat the first man at the edge of the 6 yard box
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
NANI!!!!!
GOAL! My boy Nani!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
NANI PUTS UNITED IN THE LEAD
WHAT a A GREAT FINISH BY NANI.
Great individual effort there. He was allowed to run across the area and then unleash a vicious shot into the left corner. Hennessy with no chance.
1-0 United Impressed now?
All credit to Valencia for a great cross field pass as he has been United's best player so far. As I stated, Fergie was correct to start him ahead of Young.
I would like us to score more than one goal in a match for once!
Oh - Nani is on fire. He laid one on a plate for Phil Jones there. But he just couldn't reach it.
OH! that should have been 2-0 as Nani made a great turn, but a poor pass in front of Jones made sure it stayed 1-0.
I have a feeling that this is going to be the 4-0 drubbing that will get you lot back on track. Wolves are rubbish.
Middlesbrough go in the lead vs Brighton thanks to the fact that Ankergren made a hash from a cross.
Bob will not be pleased that Ankergren helped Middlesbrough!
Strange effort from Roon there, basically chipping into Henessy's arms.
Useless by Roon. What was that?
It looks like Manchester ion Harlingen today. No wonder why the tennis tournament was cancelled!
By the way, that's Nani 4 Ashley Young 2 in Premiership goals now.
A United corner after a mix up between Karl Henry and Hennessey.
I concede the race between Young and Nani. The race is over a s Young has no business starting for United!
YES!!
TWO NIL
ROONEY!!!!
WE'VE SCORED TWO GOALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wallop! 2-0 United as Welbeck lashes one home. Game over?
First goal since Chelsea
Sorry, that was Roon rather than Welbeck. His 10th of the season and first strike in 8 matches.
Only two goals in the Prem
GOAL 2-0 UNITED AS ROON SCORES FOR UNITED AFTER A GREAT PASS FROM NANI. HENESSEY SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER.
Wow - that's quite a shift in fortunes for Ashley Young. He had a rip-roaring start to his United career. Why is he in the doghouse now?
We have finally scored more than one goal in a match. The first time since we played Norwich. A step on the right direction even thought it is Wolves.
He has been bloody awful! That is why he in the doghouse and don't throw him a bone!
I don't think Young is already done at United
He will come good... England need him too
Oh no, first shot on target for Watford and they score
STRUTH! WATFORD HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD VS LEEDS! SORRY BOB.
Milijas is on for Dave Edwards . Is that due to an injury?
Still only that lone Boro goal in the Championship.
Zubar fouls Nani just outside the box.
Useless short free kick , but United maintain possession.
Marc Albrighton puts Villa in the lead at The Reebok?
BUGGGGGGGERRRRRR!
There is also that goal at Vicarage Road.
Well... of course there was one at Vicarage Road
Roon has been okay in spells, but disagree with Merse that he has been brilliant.
Two quick goals in the Prem
WBA take the lead against Wigan
Villa score at Bolto
the bottom two in trouble again
A classic by Special K as he says Albrighton is a strapping six footer than says oh no he's only five foot ten.
United go to Loftus Road next week, then Craven Cottage and then host Wigan
Bob is ignoring that "other' goal
Goal at Carrow Road... to the hosts
The video behind Big Nose are cheering
I asked before, when did they start that
United better not concede the next goal... this United team will start to get nervous!
Wigan tie it up at the Hawthorns
Bolton are now two down to Villa
Villa are 2-0 up - Bolton are hopeless.
Norwich have taken the lead vs Newcastle with what sounds like a questionable goal as Krul catches a cross on the line, but the linesman says it was over as Victor Moses ties it up for Wigan.
Agbon puts Villa 0-2 up as the Reebok with a deflected shot off of Gary Cahill.
I want a Leeds equalizer before the interval, please.
I believe Bob acknowledged the goal when he said Buggggr
I am still nervous. I really don't think this game is over unless United get a third
I agree. I would like to see a third goal.
Brad Guzan made a great save from a KD header from a corner.
1 added minute
Woles win a late corner. I hope they don't score.
Odd punch from DeGea there.
Another goal at Carrow Road... for Demba Ba
1-1
Twop minutes of stoppage time as Demba ties it up for The Toon at Carrow Road.
Dembe Ba has scored the equalizer for Newcastle at Carrow Road. His 10th of the season.
United don't look to confident at the back
Half time
United still need the next goal
Halftime and United lead 2-0 at OT.
Half time at OT - I'm off for a shower. Hoping for much better from my boys in the second half.
Did anyone pick Demba Ba as the top scorer in the EPL in the PPP predictions?
I am off to the shower too.... not the same one!!
I am back just as the second half starts
COME ON UNITED!
Bloody hell.... I CALLED IT
Liverpool score against QPR
Again,... OT is nervous... there is no trust with this team
Suarez was the scorer for Liverpool
Terrible by Rooney. Had the ball in the box and didn't get a shot off
Again,
I just think United are not good enough.
COME ON DANNY... ATTACK IT
United look all over the place defensively
I am more upset with the loss of Vidic for possibly NINE months than being out of the CL
Could he have played he last game for United?
I could see Wolves scoring again!
Valencia breaks into the box but tries to pass it but it comes back to him but clears
He tries to do cute passes than going to goal
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Corner
I had a visitor and see that Wolves scored.UWS was correct in stating that Wolves could score,
