Win One for Speedo, Lads!
Simon Grayson has had one message this week for the Leeds boys - "win one for Speedo!" Unfortunately, I'll be teaching all afternoon, so I won't be around for the clash against Forest or any of the other mid-week footie, but I thought I'd post this thread for those of you lucky enough to enjoy the afternoon. Come on, you Whites!

Leeds meanwhile have scored during their 11-minute Gary Speed tribute through Robert Snodgrass.

Man City have scored late at the Emirates through Aguero... 83rd minute
Man City goal: This may not have been the best game we've seen this season, but Sergio Aguero has just scored a peach of a goal. It comes from an Arsenal corner, which Edin Dzeko clears up before beating two men on the edge of his own area and starting a counter attack. Dzeko then plays a magnificent pass right through the middle to Adam Johnson, who flicks it on to Aguero who passes the ball past Lukas Fabianksi. From one end to the other in a matter of seconds. Fabulous.
Steve Claridge on Radio 5 live extra: "There are ways of losing games. I came here to see a manager under pressure to see 'is he getting the best out of his players? Is he setting them up right? Are they going in the right direction?' No! No! No! Massive problems and, Mr Villas-Boas I'm afraid, most of them are down to you."
2147: Sergio Aguero is obviously not in the the best of moods despite scoring that cracker as he has a tussle with Laurent Koscielny. The striker is thrown to the ground before chasing after Koscielny and giving him another push. They make up in the end though. Just a few minutes for City to hang on now and book a place in the last four.
Man City have defeated Arsenal 1-0
The Final Four is almost complete
Man City
Liverpool
Cardiff
Man Utd/Palace
I'll take a CIty v Liverpool semi please!
Wonder when the draw is?
I am off to class soon
Good night for Our Bob
TTFN
Way hay! I'm back from my marathon teaching stint to see that we have indeed done Simon Grayson and Gary Speed proud tonight. More evidence that we're better away than at ER.
"One Gary Speed! There's Only One Gary Speed!"
I am delighted to see that Leeds could honor Gary Speed with such an emphatic away win. I am pleased for you, Bob.I second your statement regarding Gary Speed.
It is Wednesday and it is goalless at half time at OT between United and Palace
United do not have a full strength side out but a lot of big names are there. Berbatov and Fabio both came off with injuries
Not too impressive
In the Europa League
Celtic lost at home to Athletico Madrid
Brimingham lost away to Braga
Spurs were losing 2-0 to PAOK Salonika but have pulled one back and PAOK are down to ten men
Half time there
oooh, Valencia has a one on one chance for United but he puts it just wide... BUGGER
United's troubled youngster Ravel Morrison replaced Berbatov... he hasn't done much!
The side that started for United and struggling included Smalling Evans, Fabio, Rafael, Park Berbatov and Macheda
I agree with this tweet
Nick Clayden on Twitter: "This is what Man Utd fans have had to become used to lately! A below par United, not delivering."
Morrison has a decent shot saved
United have had more chances in the first 15 minutes of the second half than the entire first
Rafael is now coming off with an injury replaced by Progba
OH MY GOD!!
DARREN AMBROSE PUTS IN A ROCKET OF A SHOT INTO THE TOP CORNER!!!!!!
65th minute!!!
Pogba goes close with his own shot
United need to turn it up!!
BTW, news out of England is that Steve Bruce has won the Sack Race and has left the Stadium of Light
PENALTY...to...... UNITED!!
Macheda was pulled ... Macheda to take.... 1-1!
This was the description of Palace's goal from the BBC
Crystal Palace goal: Pick that one out. It's an absolute peach from Darren Ambrose, the midfielder picking the ball up 45 yards out, taking a touch or two, and then pile-driving an unstoppable shot into the top corner from fully 35 yards. Superb
Palace's lead lasted 3 minutes
Again, United have already used all three of their subs all for injuries
Fabio with a hammy
Berbatov .... ankle
Rafael... not sure but he did go straight down the tunnel
All Tottenham at WHL but still losing 2-1
Extra time looms at Old Trafford. Less than 10 to go
Corner to Palace... cleared
More pressure by Palace... another corner... eventually cleared! Amos came for the corner but didn't get there
VERY UPSETTING AGAIN BY MY UNITED!
Palace are having the better of possession and chances in the last 10 minutes
Ambrose tries another one but this time is blocked
Palace look the more likely winner
Under 5 to go
I don't want it to go to extra time! I have to leave for Tom's soccer banquet at five!!!
Come on United... get the winner in the last two minutes of regular time
Morrision tries an Ambrose and it didn't cross the end line before it was outside the six yard box
Wonder if Spurs are out of the Europa League if it stays the same. They are third.
Not sure who qualifies!
Palace hit the side netting after United give the ball away
We are into 3 added minutes
Corner to Palace again... cleared
Under 20 for Spurs to get back into it
90 seconds to go... all Palace
Now United have the ball and are just keeping the ball outside of the box!!! Then lose possession.. Palace can break...weak shot
One more chance for United.. Throw in as the 3 are up.... not rushing..... get it in... that's it!
BUGGER!!!
2142: Massive, massive controversy at White Hart Lane. Tottenham think they have equalised as Jermain Defoe prods home 10 yards out - and referee Bas Nijhuis gives it. However, with a PAOK Salonika player lying injured on the line - and playing Defoe onside - the linesman calls play back for offside and the referee changes his mind. There is an argument Spurs should have stopped play but it was never offside. Bizarre.
Extra time underway... and I have to leave in 10 minutes
COME ON UNITED
United are hopeless!
What has happened????
Free kick chance for Palace from the side of the area.... GOAL!!!!!
United 1 Palace 2!
Five added minutes at WHL
Corner to United....useless one but Gibson takes a shot inches wide
Five more minutes of the first period of extra time and I have to leave
COME ON UNITED!!!!!
TTFN
It's a shame about the loss, but the fact that SAF played what was basically a youth team showed that the Carling Cup is bottom of the list of priorities.I have not heard of over half the United youngsters that played tonight.I saw the Ambrose goal on the telly . It was spectacular. I didn't expect Brucie to win the sack race even though he was on thin ice with that bad run of results. Finally, If Evil Cardiff win the Carling Cup does that mean that they will play in the Europa League or would they be ineligible because they are from Wales?
Would you Adam and Eve it???
United beaten at home by Palace!!
Of course, the draw comes out this way
Man City v Liverpool
Cardiff v Palace
I can't Adam and Eve it? I would guess that the winner of Citeh vs Liverpool would win the Carling Cup. If Cardiff City wins the Carling Cup will they get to play in Europe?
