Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Win One for Speedo, Lads!

Simon Grayson has had one message this week for the Leeds boys - "win one for Speedo!" Unfortunately, I'll be teaching all afternoon, so I won't be around for the clash against Forest or any of the other mid-week footie, but I thought I'd post this thread for those of you lucky enough to enjoy the afternoon. Come on, you Whites!

Did you hear that Huddersfield's 43 game unbeaten run came ro an end as they lost to league leadrs' Charlton 2-0 and as a result slipped out of an automatic promotion spot?

Nottm Forest 0 Leeds 4 after 66 minutes!!!

England cricketer Stuart Broad on Twitter: "Never seen more away support at The City Ground. Awesome from the Leeds Utd fans." #BBCFootball

2003: Those Leeds fans will be in full voice at the moment as they sing Gary Speed's name for a full 11 minutes. Impressive effort.

Leeds meanwhile have scored during their 11-minute Gary Speed tribute through Robert Snodgrass.

Man City have scored late at the Emirates through Aguero... 83rd minute

4:45 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Man City goal: This may not have been the best game we've seen this season, but Sergio Aguero has just scored a peach of a goal. It comes from an Arsenal corner, which Edin Dzeko clears up before beating two men on the edge of his own area and starting a counter attack. Dzeko then plays a magnificent pass right through the middle to Adam Johnson, who flicks it on to Aguero who passes the ball past Lukas Fabianksi. From one end to the other in a matter of seconds. Fabulous.

Steve Claridge on Radio 5 live extra: "There are ways of losing games. I came here to see a manager under pressure to see 'is he getting the best out of his players? Is he setting them up right? Are they going in the right direction?' No! No! No! Massive problems and, Mr Villas-Boas I'm afraid, most of them are down to you."

4:48 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

2147: Sergio Aguero is obviously not in the the best of moods despite scoring that cracker as he has a tussle with Laurent Koscielny. The striker is thrown to the ground before chasing after Koscielny and giving him another push. They make up in the end though. Just a few minutes for City to hang on now and book a place in the last four.

It is Wednesday and it is goalless at half time at OT between United and Palace

United do not have a full strength side out but a lot of big names are there. Berbatov and Fabio both came off with injuries

Not too impressive

In the Europa League
Celtic lost at home to Athletico Madrid
Brimingham lost away to Braga
Spurs were losing 2-0 to PAOK Salonika but have pulled one back and PAOK are down to ten men
Half time there

This was the description of Palace's goal from the BBC

Crystal Palace goal: Pick that one out. It's an absolute peach from Darren Ambrose, the midfielder picking the ball up 45 yards out, taking a touch or two, and then pile-driving an unstoppable shot into the top corner from fully 35 yards. Superb

Palace's lead lasted 3 minutes

4:18 PM

Again, United have already used all three of their subs all for injuries
Fabio with a hammy
Berbatov .... ankle
Rafael... not sure but he did go straight down the tunnel

VERY UPSETTING AGAIN BY MY UNITED!

Palace are having the better of possession and chances in the last 10 minutes
Ambrose tries another one but this time is blocked

Palace look the more likely winner

Not sure who qualifies!

4:39 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

90 seconds to go... all Palace

4:40 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Now United have the ball and are just keeping the ball outside of the box!!! Then lose possession.. Palace can break...weak shot

4:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

One more chance for United.. Throw in as the 3 are up.... not rushing..... get it in... that's it!

BUGGER!!!

4:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

2142: Massive, massive controversy at White Hart Lane. Tottenham think they have equalised as Jermain Defoe prods home 10 yards out - and referee Bas Nijhuis gives it. However, with a PAOK Salonika player lying injured on the line - and playing Defoe onside - the linesman calls play back for offside and the referee changes his mind. There is an argument Spurs should have stopped play but it was never offside. Bizarre.

It's a shame about the loss, but the fact that SAF played what was basically a youth team showed that the Carling Cup is bottom of the list of priorities.I have not heard of over half the United youngsters that played tonight.I saw the Ambrose goal on the telly . It was spectacular. I didn't expect Brucie to win the sack race even though he was on thin ice with that bad run of results. Finally, If Evil Cardiff win the Carling Cup does that mean that they will play in the Europa League or would they be ineligible because they are from Wales?

Would you Adam and Eve it???

United beaten at home by Palace!!

Of course, the draw comes out this way
Man City v Liverpool
Cardiff v Palace

I can't Adam and Eve it? I would guess that the winner of Citeh vs Liverpool would win the Carling Cup. If Cardiff City wins the Carling Cup will they get to play in Europe?
