I have a link for Swansea vs Villa at
www.firstrowsports.tv/watch/94766/2/watch-swansea-city-fc-vs-aston-villa.html
A moments silence as Gary Speed passed away. I am surprised and devastated by the news. This has an emotional effect as this is in South Wales. The fans gave a standing ovation as his picture was posted at the Liberty Stadium.McLeish appeared to console Brendan Rogers.
The match kicks off on such a sad day in South Wales.
Leeds old Boy Fabian Delph, goes in the book for a late tackle from Behind.
It seems like a football match would be a trivial matter in wales today after the tragic news.
Joe Allen was free in the box , but his cross from the left was off as Swansea is off to a decent start.
Now Villa attack as Alan Hutton crosses, but Ivanhoe ,as usual, is called for climbing.
Constant Swansea pressure as Villa defenders were twice caught in possession and under the cosh as they blocked two blocked shots.Trevor Sinclair is booked for a tackle on Chris Herd to send the pressure.McLeish is furious at Villa's slack, static defending. I don't blame him.
As the announcer stated, Villa look way off the pace.
The Swans have earned a corner.
Chris Herd does well to head away , under pressure from Trevor Sinclair.
Gary Monk heads away a Hutton cross for a corner, under pressure from Ivanhoe.
Richard Dunne headed the corner, but Joe Allen cleared to Sinclair.
That was a sickening challenge by Hutton on Danny Graham that I heard . Hutton was booked as Danny Graham is down.
I wonder where all the other LOBERS are? They must be getting extra kip or looking for those holiday bargains!:0)}
A chorus of boos as Hutton is guilty of a wayward clearance
Taylor was the victim of the Hutton challenge, not Danny Graham as worm made a decent save.
Angel Rangel is don injured for Swansea that was caused by a slip.He lost his footing on the pitch.
That's it for Rangel as Ashley Richards will come on if Rangel cannot continue.
Great cross by warnock, but Taylor block's Heskey's header for a corner.
Nzogbia helps on a low corner and Dunne heads over, seeming surprised that the ball made it his way.
A great Swansea move is ruined by a wayward shot by Sinclair to the delight of the Villa fans behind the goal.
Agbon has a shot deflected for a corner as Swansea cheaply concede possession. The corner is easily cleared.
Swansea attack and the cross from Taylor was too high.
Hutton heads away a cross from Taylor.
Ashley Richards is on for Angel Rangel.
The tragic news of Speed's death was announced by the Welsh FA two hours before kickoff , so both teams are wearing black armbands.
A cross from Warnock lands on top of the Swansea , under pressure from Richards.
The bloody link needs to be reloaded.
Back and working.
Morning, MUR - you're absolutely right. I decided to get some extra kip after a late night out with friends.
I am on link 1 , listening to the horrible David Pleat after a Scottish announcer was on link 2.
Good morning BD. I posted the comment as a humorous remark. There was some tragic news about Gary Speed that I posted at 8:33 and 9:00.
The match is starting to fizzle out after a bright and fast paced beginning.
I've just seen the news about Gary Speed and of course I'm absolutely shocked. I'll post a thread about it later today. He's an Elland Road legend, of course and I feel terrible for his family.
Mcleish is not pleased with Villa's performance. It is an improvement from that Monday night debacle.Richard Dunne is booked for a late challenge on Danny Graham. I am not sure why he has remarks to make to the Villa player.
Trevor Sinclair wins a corner off of Hutton.Dunne heads away the Gower corner for another corner.
I feel the same. The news was not announced until a few hours ago, so I am not sure about the nature of the passing.Shay Given played with Speed at Newcastle, so he must have a difficult time playing today. Brendan Rogers appeared to looked shocked prior to kickoff.I am glad you are posting a thread as he was one of the all time greats at ER.
Darren Bent shoots miles over as he has had an unusually quiet half.
Pleat talks about Zamora being good at heading. Behave yourself!
Football 365 says this about Speed's death: "Wales manager Gary Speed has been found dead at his home after apparently dying by suicide. The 42-year-old former Newcastle, Leeds and Bolton midfielder was found hanged at his home in Chester this morning."
I'm devastated by this news.
James Collins is booed for being a former Cardiff player.
Pleat can't help himself - dirty old man!
what horrible news! I am really sad and shocked to hear this. The worst part of this is the toll on friends and family.
Three minutes of stoppage time in what has been a pretty even match.
Coming up on half time - it doesn't appear that I missed much catching that extra half hour of kip. I'm really looking forward what I'm hoping will be a real thrill-fest later on.
Great tackle by Taylor on Heskey.
There was more action while you were getting kip. The match has slowed down after a bright start.
Halftime and 0-0 at The Liberty Stadium.
The commentator is absolutely right - it's difficult to concentrate on the footer today with that awful news about Gary Speed to absorb. Half time.
Looking at the table today, it's amazing to see how cut off the top seven are from the rest of the Premiership.
I agree. I have been thinking about Shay Given who played with Speed at Newcastle. It must be difficult for him today. I have noticed the gap between the top seven and the rest of the league.
I agree. I have been thinking about Shay Given who played with Speed at Newcastle. It must be difficult for him today. I have noticed the gap between the top seven and the rest of the league.
It's our favorite new pundit The Neviller alongside Graeme Souness in the studio.
Morning boys
I am stunned about the news. I am also angry!
It makes me mad when someone commits suicide.
What about his family?
He was on Football Focus yesterday and was talking about his kids!!
Good morning UWS. I completely agree with you as you are absolutely correct.
I have Andy Townsend and Alan Curbishley in the studio on my link.
Jon Champion and David Pleat are the announcers as the second half kicks off.
Morning, UWS. Great to hear from you this morning.
It's a tough morning for these players for sure. The cameras caught Shay Given mopping up some tears after the emotional moment of silence before the match.
Rangers have lost to Killie
They are only 4 points ahead of Celtic
Maybe it isn't over
Late by Herd as he concedes possession. He is lectured by the ref.
That is a shock result.
Villa seem to be the draw specialists and are living up to their billing today.
A decent effort by Alan Hutton , who rarely scores.
Danny Graham is down injured for Swansea.
Looks like Danny Graham will have to come off after being raked down the Achilles by Richard Dunne.
Leroy Lita is on for Danny Graham.
If you have just joined us, I don't what to tell you anything about the match, but can let you know that you didn't miss any goals!
Agbon shoots at Worm who has the shot pass through his hands for a corner.
Pleat talks about giving Villa something to bite on.
The Swansea keeper just about kept out that shot by Gabby Ag. Villa seem to have come out of the traps a bit quicker than Swansea.
Bent is offside and shoots miles over.
I must be on a different link because I've got a Scots git as the color guy. It sounds like Pleat is in his usual filthy form.
Warnock wants a penalty. It was never a penalty.
He did talk about shying away from a challenge. I went to link 1 once my link crashed. I think you are on link 2.
A poor cross by Nzogbia intended for Bent.
I was not aware that Brendan Rogers and Nigel Worthington are cousins.
Late by Monk on Bent after the forward had fairly tackled him.
Monk was booked.
Cheers from the crowd as a record attendance of 20,404 is announced.
Jermaine Jenas is on for Ivanhoe who put in as typical performance by his standards.
Villa attack and the cross from Hutton was too far ahead of Bent.
Jimmy Rimmer, who is balder and heavier, is in attendance as he played for both teams.
OH! The best chance of the match as Gower to set up Lita who brilliantly turned Collins and shot about an inch wide.
The cross by Gower is easily caught by Given.
Sinclair sprints past Hutton , but his powerful shot was at Given who pushed it away.
I wouldn't recognize Jimmy Rimmer if they didn't point him out in the stands. Of course, he wouldn't recognize me either from the scared kid who was on the terraces behind him when things kicked off at Carrow Road.
Villa counter as Swansea fans wanted a foul called on Warnock who appeared to catch Nathan dyer. I thought it was a foul. A chorus of boos from the Swansea fans.
Better from Swansea since that near miss by Lita.
Barry Bannon, a BD favorite , is warming up for Villa :0}
Bloody Barry Bannan is coming on to replace LUFC Academy kid Fab Delph.
I agree with Pleat that McLeish should consider bringing on Albrighton. Bannon is on for Delph as one Leeds old boy is on for another.
Jenas did well to put Bent through, but he was offside and worm did well to block. Great combo play from the Spurs old boys.
what a superb save by Given from Lita.
Wayne Routledge is on for Nathan Dyer, who is applauded for putting in a great shift.
Ten minutes remaining . Will either team win this match?
This could be Villa's seventh draw in thirteen matches.
Agobn has a shot deflected for a corner.Chris Herd heads just wide from the Bannan corner.
Pleat mentions that Bannan takes great corners. Would you like to say anything to Mr. Pleat, BD?
Sinclair fouls Hutton just outside the box.
Bannan has a chance from this free kick but of course hits the first man on the post.
The free kick from Bannan is headed out for a corner. The corner from Bannan is too high.
David Pleat says Bannan has a great delivery from set pieces. Any comments,BD?
There will be three minutes of stoppage time.
The color guy says there's been "very little penetration" in this match. I suspect he's been taking tips from Pleat.
Swansea have conceded only two goals at the Liberty Stadium. One was an OG and the other scored by my man Wea Pea.
Into stoppage time as you never commented as Pleat praised Bannan for being brilliant at taking set pieces.
Late by Nzogbia on Richards. Hutton was booked for the same challenge in the first half.
Sounds like the Pleat school of commentary.
I'm not at all surprised that this one has turned out 0-0. A tough day for these players to concentrate on their footer. Apparently there was some speculation that it might be called off after the news regarding Gary Speed.
James Collins is booked for a foul on Lita. This must be the last chance of the match.
The match ends 0-0. I agree, BD. It would have made perfect sense to have called off the match.
I am off to eat some pancakes before the big match kicks off.
Sorry I haven't been around much
Here is a video of Robbie Savage about Speed
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/15911088.stm
Thanks for the link, UWS. I will watch.
Thanks, UWS. Watching it right now. Good on, Robbie for a nice testimonial there.
On Football Focus yesterday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OIg_rIj_vM
How many players will Citeh lose for the African Cup of Nations?
Yaya?
LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER CITY
Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Jose Enrique, Henderson, Lucas, Adam, Downing, Suarez, Kuyt. Subs: Doni, Carroll, Maxi, Coates, Spearing, Carragher, Kelly.
Manchester City: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Toure Yaya, Barry, Milner, Silva, Nasri, Aguero. Subs: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Dzeko, Johnson, Toure, De Jong, Balotelli.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire)
Bellamy is not in the squad today. He has returned home after the news.
Robbie Savage said he is still going to do 606
It is understandable that Bellamy sits out due to the circumstances. I think only the Toures will be missing for the African Nations Cup.
I watched the BBC video . A great tribute by Robbie Savage.
Inter score the winner as the clock hits 90 in Siena
I am not often one but.... I am a Liverpool fan today.... actually, I was one last week too!
What is going on with me???
First Leeds and now Liverpool!!!!!!!!
Goals on Sunday have gone pubbing!!
I'm neutral today. I just want goals, goals, goals, especially from my Golden Boot Boy Luis Suarez.
Warren Barton is getting emotional about Gary Speed now on FSC.
Warren Barton pays tribute to Gary Speed ahead of the match at Anfield.
1553: City have not won in their last eight Premier League visits to Anfield. Nicolas Anelka, who has played for both these clubs, scored twice to give them their last win (2-1) in 2003.
1554: That was a long time and a lot of money ago, though.
Did you like the way I posted that Liversox have a duty to win today? I feel odd putting up a humorous post , then finding out what happened.
1556: Infostradalive tell me that under Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool have won five out of seven matches against City. The last time City were here, last season, they were battered 3-0.
A moments silence and applause from Anfield.Kenny looks visibly shaken which is understandable.
It's a bit unfair on Andy Carroll to suggest that he's not playing because Suarez is in better form without him.
To be fair, Suarez's form has been lukewarm at best for Pool, with only four goals this season. I'm not sure that Carroll has gotten a fair shake from King Kenny yet.
I think he signed him for Newcastle
I saw that match. Citeh were horrible that day. I think it was the anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy.
I think Carroll should be playing!
He could be England #9
I prefered the tribute at Swansea with fans breaking through the moment of silence to give him warm applause and several rounds of "One Gary Speed."
The match kicks off from Anfield.
I want goals!
I agree,BD. Well stated.
Me too. I am sure we will see some in this match.
I think that is correct, UWS. So Kenny knew him very well.A really sad day.
Aston Vill have moved up to 8th with their draw today
It is the top seven and then everyone else for a relegation scrap
I am not sure why Carroll hasn't been playing, but he should score if he gets a run of matches.
Villa's seventh draw of the season and as UWS stated all but the top seven are in a relegation scrap.
I'd love to see Citeh get knocked down a pegged
They have been impressive. The 5-1er at WHL was impressive. The result of the OT match is a little skewed. It was 1-0 before it went to ten men. It was 3-1 AFTER 90 minutes
Citeh are going for the win based on the first few minutes.
Citeh win a corner off of Glen Johnson.
STRUTH... I thought Citeh had one there
Yaya shoots over from the Nasri corner after several Citeh headers and the Liversox defenders were merely ball watching . Horrible defending!
I would love to see Citeh lose too. It is strange rooting for Liversox two weeks in a row.
Bob... truth time
Let's assume that the Title is going to Manchester this year
Would you prefer a new winner or a team winning it's 13th?
Downing clears for a Citeh corner.Sox clear the Nasri corner, but Citeh keep possession.
Great challenge by Skrtel on Downing.
I said that too about Liverpool... as I said... It is like rooting for Leeds!!!
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME!
I am DISGUSTED with myself
Liversox attack through Suarez , but the cross was ahead of Downing.
Same here, but what choice do we have
Nasty by Kompany on Suarez. Really cynical!Kompany is deservedly booked as Kenny is livid.
I'd prefer another ManYoo win this season. I don't like to see teams rewarded for big spending, although it seems inevitable that they will be rewarded at some point.
I prefer thirteen, UWS!
Get it over Johnson.. .one too many touches
UWS choice came from the DUH file
I wasn't sure about BD's answer
If Citeh lose then we are four points behind and in with a decent chance of catching Citeh.
That was MUR's choice
Enrique... knock it off!!
Reina did well to come out and clear after a poor back pass from Jose Enrique.
MUR.. do you want Citeh to still have the Champions League to worry about for the rest of the season?
Barry does well to tackle Adam and put Aguero through who loses his footing on the box to the delight of the Anfield crowd.
I would like Citeh to stay in the because it would be more difficult to concentrate on the league plus the wear and tear involved over the course of the season. Definitely Yes!
Great passing by Citeh
Oh - nearly a training pitch move resulting in a goal there for Citeh. Marvelous movement.
Nearly a Citeh chance as they opened up the Liversox defense, but the pass was behind Aguero.
Did you guys see that Barac lost yesterday?
Disappointing free kick by Silva.
The Free kick from Silva is headed away by the first defender.
I did not see that. I think they are several points behind the Special One's team.
I am not pleased that Citeh are dominating possession and looking the more dangerous team.
DO YOUR DUTY LIVERSOX!!!
Still no goals today except for the one scored by Killie vs Rangers.
I think Real and perhaps even Bayern might be stronger than Barca this season.
The cross by Adam comes off of Barry for a corner.
Citeh are playing the Scousesox off their own park. The only thing missing is goals. Come on!
It is tough to say . It should be a pretty even CL this season. we could see a surprise winner this year.
Useless cross by Glen Johnson.
120 minutes of Prem football with no goals!
Balo's copped my hairstyle!
I thought Blondie Balo would start today. Fine with me if they want him to sit on the bench today.
GOAL! Kompany scores from a corner!
BUGGER BUGGER BUGGER!
LIVERPOOL HAVEN'T SHOWED UP!
BLOODY HELL! KOMAPNY SCORES A HEADER OFF THE CORNER! 0-1 CITEH!
Off his shoulder
Brilliant corner over from Silva this time and in truth it was more of a shoulder than a head but it was directed perfectly into the corner past Reina.
1-0 Citeh!
Garerth Barry is booked for a late challenge on Lucas Leyva.
YES!!!!!!
DEFLECTION SHOT... GOAL!!
GOAL! Now we've got a match!
Adam's shot is deflected off Lescott into an open goal.
1-1!
YES!!!! 1-1 AS CHARLIE ADAM SCORES A DEFLECTED SHOT OFF OF FORMER EVERTONIAN ,LESCOTT.
That shot was going well wide Adam... brilliant finish by Lescott
Got to be a Lescott own goal there. I'm not sure Adam's effort was even on target.
Now the match has come to life!
Was that an Adam goal or a Lescott OG.
Only 107 seconds between the goals.
