Socrates, the imperious '82 Brasilian midfielder has passed away from complications arising from alcoholism. He was 57. Here's how I prefer to remember him, pre-hemlock.

Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

One of my absolute favorites. That match in 82 where Brasil destroyed the USSR was the jogo bonito at its best. They have a special place in my heart as the highlight of the last great World Cup when all of us were still together in Britain for one last time. Socrates will be missed.
