come on You Villains
We have an early west Midlands Derby that is into the second half. I missed the first half because I preferred to get some extra kip. The big match is at Villa Park as Aston Villa hosts Man Citeh. I am hoping for a Villa win so United end the weekend with a one point lead. This match will be a reunion of sorts as Villa welcome some old friends in James Milner and Gareth Barry while Shay Given , Richard Dunne, and Stephen Ireland get reacquainted with their old friends at Citeh. In this respect here's hoping that Irish eyes are smiling at the end of the match.

It's Wolves 1 West Brom 1 with thirty minutes remaining in the West Midlands Derby.
Jonas Olsson scored only his second goal for west Brom as the Baggies just took a 1-2 lead at Molineaux.
Wolves replace David Edwards with Milijas.
A superb save by Ben Foster off a header by Stephen Fletcher , then a header from the resulting corner was off the bar, then west Brom broke and Stepehen Foley cleared off the line from Odemwingie.
Two consecutive Milijas corners that west Brom struggle to clear. The header off the bar was from Roger Johnson off a Milijas corner that was actually headed on to the bar by Fortune on the goal line off of Johnson's header.
Simon Cox is on for Jerome Thomas.
Fortune wins a corner for west Brom.
GOAL !!!! 1-3 WEST BROM AS ODEMWINGIE SCORES OFF THE CORNER.THE CORNER FROM MORRISON WAS HEADED ON AND OLSSON BACK HEELEED FOR ODEMWINGIE TO SCORE WITH A FANTASTIC FINISH.
That should seal it for the Baggies and wolves are stuck in a relegation dogfight as they really needed three points today. Hard on Wolves who nearly equalized twice after that superb save from Ben Foster and the header from Roger Johnson off the resulting corner that was deflected on to the bar.
OH!Slack defending from Roger Johnson and Fortune shot wide with just Hennessey to beat.
GOAL 1-4 WEST BROM AS LAMES MORRISON WENT ON A SUPERB RUN DOWN THE RIGHT , EVEN THOUGH STEPHEN WARD WAS NOT COMMITTED TO STOPPING HIM, THEN PASSED FOR KEITH ANDREWS TO SCORE ON HIS WEST BROM DEBUT AGAINST HIS FORMER CLUB WITH A DEFLECTED FINISH FROM JUST OUTSIDE THE BOX.
Wolves fans head for the exits as it is their fourth consecutive home defeat and they are being thrashed in a local derby.
An unconventional save by Ben Foster from a shot by Jaime O'Hara.
GOAL !!! 1-5 WEST BROM AS THE BAGGIES COUNTER OFF A WOLVES CORNER AND MORRISON GOES DOWN THE LEFT AND CROSSES FOR ODEMWINGIE TO SCORE A ROCKET OFF OF HENNESSEY TO COMPLETE HIS HAT-TRICK.
Graham Dorrans is on for Odemwingie so he can get a deserved standing ovation.Three minutes of stoppage time.
This is Wolves' worst home defeat vs West Brom since 1962.
Will this be it for Mick?
Peter Odemwingie has been named MOTM after scoring a hat-trick.
It finishes Wolves 1 West Brom 5 as there is a chorus of boos from the Wolves fans.
Morning, MUR! I'm on the right thread now. I was being lazy. Thanks for posting this thread.
Here's the team news out of Villa Park this afternoon:
Aston Villa: Given; Hutton, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins; Albrighton, Petrov, Gardner Heskey; Keane, Bent.
Subs: Guzan, Ireland, Warnock, Bannan, Baker, Weimann, N'Zogbia.
Manchester City: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov; De Jong, Barry; Johnson, Milner, Silva; Agüero.
Subs: Pantilimon, Richards, Clichy, Savic, Nasri, Pizarro, Dzeko.
In terms of the implications for this late match, Citeh merely need a point in order to reclaim top spot. But they'll almost certainly be pushing for a win at Villa Park. Villa's season is essentially over at this point. In 15th, they're safe from the drop but are also too far back to challenge for Europe.
FSC's coverage of the Serie A snoozefest of the week has ended and we're all set for the kick-off from Villa Park.
Well, the weather looks to have improved slightly in the UK. Could be cold but there doesn't seem to be any snow or rain to bother the teams.
Very attacking formation for Villa with essentially three strikers up front in Bent, Heskey and Keane. Ballsy!
Citeh to get us underway at villa Park and I'm already having trouble picking out the two sides, both of whom have dark shirts and white shorts on. Citeh are wearing the away kit of black shirts, which aren't that far from the dark claret shirts that Villa are sporting. About the only difference from a distance is the lighter colored blue sleeve for Villa's players.
Early chance for Aguero to turn and shoot. Given was right behind it, though.
In the early stages, Citeh's superstars are getting a lot of space off Villa. They're playing it about the park for fun here.
Hello BD. I am back from running an errand and here to join you for the action at Villa Park.
Great to have you on board today, mate. Hope you and your family are doing well.
If you read my comments then you will see that it all happened in the last thirty minutes. Mick is in big trouble.
Thanks BD. Great to have you on Board too.Hope you are feeling better. The family is doing well. Thank you very much.
COME ON YOU VILLAINS!
I had a feeling that you might be pro-Villa today. ;-}
Glad to hear you're doing well. I'm on day two of nursing this cold. It's been fortunate that it's struck over a weekend. I've just bunkered in with plenty of supplies and graded papers on-line with some junk movies and telly on.
I had the same thing about ten days ago. I am feeling much better. Tylenol really helped. I still have the sniffles , but I am not sure if it is the cold lingering or if it is allergies. If you have the same thing then you should be better by the end of the week.
Was that a hunch or an educated guess?:0)
That's what I'm hoping for. I'm already feeling better today than I did yesterday.
Great to hear. I have a three day weekend next weekend for President's Day. Are you off that day?
Howard doesn't look pleased with his fourth official responsibilities. AH! To be a celebrity!
I am - professors can elect to teach or not on that day as the campus is open. I've decided to take the day. Originally, Gooner and I were thinking of going over to London this week. We've changed our plans to Easter weekend. I've got that Monday off as well.
I was thinking the same thing - doesn't like to be second fiddle to a 26 year old ref.
It looks like Albrighton is starting in place of Citeh old boy , Ireland while Ivanhoe replaces Agbon, who didn't even make the subs bench.
Stephen Ireland must be on his way out the door this summer. For some reason, he hasn't fit in at Villa.
De Jong with his usual studs up challenge there on Darren Bent. No action from the ref.
Dunne was on the end of that free kick but didn't test Joe Hart with the header.
It was a pipe dream for Ireland as another Irish Citeh old boy , Dunne, heads straight to Hart off a free kick.
Oh - Silva did well to jink inside Gardener and work his way into the box but his final shot was tame.
Silva shoots straight at Citeh old boy , Given , off a pass from Villa old boy , Barry.
Well, I seem to remember that Ireland was one of the more dynamic elements of the Citeh attack under Sparky. Wonder if Sparky will be in for him this summer?
I am off Good Friday and Easter Monday. I wish you and Gooner a good and safe trip to London.
There are a lot of connections between these sides - Jamie Milner's another one who's made the switch.
Barry shoots tamely at Given.
Cheers, mate. We're going to try to start the conversation about future plans for my parents.
It is a matter of whether or not Evil QPR are still in the EPL. I don't see Ireland dropping down to the Championship even though he would be united old mates Barton and SWP.
I hope it goes well.I wish you and Gooner the best.
This has been a dull match on a cool, damp , rainy day in Harlingen.
I think QPR have just enough guile to stay up. I still fancy Blackburn, Bolton and Wigan for the drop, although Wolves are certainly doing their level best to be part of the group. Will Mick survive the weekend?
I agree - a lot of industry but very little quality on show here at Villa Park.
for some reason Melanie and Jacquelyn are off tomorrow for teacher in-service, but have school on President's Day.
Why is Ashley Young at Villa Park today? That's odd.
Aguero did so well to work his way to the by-line but no Citeh player was attacking the cut-back.
I asked earlier in the thread if this would be Mick's last match. I have a feeling Wigan may stay up like they did with their miraculous escape last year. They are only two points from safety and I would place Wolves for the drop instead of Wigan.Otherwise, I agree with your picks.
Milner wins a corner off of Dunne.Ten Albrighton clears for another Citeh corner.
Alex is scribbling away on his pad as Villa allow an easy 2 v. 1 from a short corner.
Adam Johnson rattles one off the post!
Adam Johnson has a shot come off the outside of the post for a goal kick. That is the closest any team has come to scoring this match.
I would love that, but I don't see Wigan escaping this year. They haven't got enough quality.
Kolorov wins a corner off of Ivanhoe as they start to take control of the match.
Citeh upping the tempo here, but they seem to be missing a big target man like Dzeko or Balo with several wide men in the side.
Dunne clears the corner from Barry.
Are you having as much trouble picking out the two sides from a distance? The shirts are far too close to each other.
I agree, BD, but Wigan have been getting results recently and have basically the same squad that survived. I did pick them for the drop, but they are still ni there and can survive the same way they did last season; basically win against the other bottom five teams. that may be just enough to keep them up.It should go down to the final match of the season just as it did last year.
I am having some trouble from distance, but can distinguish from close range.
A lot of it will come down to the run-ins - who has to play whom.
Villa definitely seem to be playing for a point here at home. That's got to be disappointing for the home fans.
That's what decided it last year.Otherwise there was not really any difference between West Ham and Wigan.
Nearly a goal for Citeh as Albrighton blocked a shot from Aguero with Given beaten.
I agree, BD. That's why I don't like McLeish and the Villa fans feel the same. It's hard on Villa fans who paid good money to see their team play.
A point would put Citeh back on top on goal difference.
Barry wins a free kick off of Petrov about thirty yards from goal.
Morning, Lads. Is that West Ham playing City?
I scream like that all the time when I play.
Kolorov shoots the free kick over and Given basically had it covered in case it was on target.
Morning, WHR. We were just remarking on the shirt issue. Very hard to tell these sides apart from a distance.
How was Sharon van Etten last night?
Good morning WHR. It is the Hammers since their match at Peterborough was cancelled yesterday. How have you been?
Steve-O may be sleeping in. Sharon Van Etten show wrapped up at 12:15 am . . . treacherous drive home.
Hutton wins a corner off of Kolorov.
Wow - a late one. Did you have a bit of snow?
Dunne heads over from the corner.
Sorry to hear that. As BD stated I hope you had a safe drive home late last night.
Emile Heskey back there to hook the ball out of his own area. That says it all about how Villa have gone about this match.
SVE was excellent, although I was disappointed she didn't play a few of the tastier treats off of Epic, including "One Day". I remarked upon this fact on her FB Band page in a very oblique way.
Like you two, I'm a little under the weather (slight sore throat), but Lauri and I made a big pot of chicken soup which I'm slurping on now.
I will be surprised if there is more than one minute of stoppage time.
Shame. "One Day" was a favorite a couple of years back.
I've got the chicken soup ready to go for lunch. Nice one!
I hope you feel better , WHR. I had the worst of it about ten days ago, but have a either a slight cold or I may be over it and may be having problems with allergies. I am not quite sure.
Drive home for me and Steve to my house was uneventful. Just had to go slow. We walked out of the Black Cat into an Artic snow storm. . . high wind and a light snow smacking us in the gob.
Roberto will have to change things if Citeh are to go on to win this one. We should see big Eden Dzeko before long.
Into stoppage time.
Good grief - Snowpocalypse, Part Deux!
It sounds treacherous, WHR. I am glad you and Steve made it back safely. I agree, BD, but I hope Roberto doesn't for United's sake.
"A half of frustration for both sides," the commentator remarks. And for the audience!
Steve shared that you will be in London when I'll be there with Cal. I don't know if I could manage it with Cal in tow, but Stacey Kent is playing in London on April 7th. Just saying.
Halftime and 0-0 from Upton Park. Sorry , I mean Villa Park.
The halftime show should be entertaining as there will be press release of post match remarks from Suarez.
Upton Park . . . nice one.
Hey Boys
Sorry I haven't been around and won't be around much for the second half. I have some errands to do and go out shopping.
COME ON U VILLAINS!!!
PS I agree with you about the shirts... I think some of the payers are having problems too
Feeling better Bob
Both Suarez and Dalglish have apologized for yesterday.
Is this the end of the matter?
Wow - Stacey in London, eh? Thanks for the tip, WHR. I'd love to check her out if it fits into the schedule. Of course, this won't be a pleasure trip but more of an intervention.
Luis Suarez apologized for his actions yesterday and said he let the manger and the club down and that he should have shaken hands with Evra. He told the managing director prior to the match that he would shake hands and didn't. Finally a step in the right direction for Luis. Otherwise, I think that would have been the end of his Liverpool career.
Morning, UWS!
I expect a club ban for Suarez. They won't be able to let it drop just like that. However, I doubt whether SAF's suggestion that he never play for Pool again is realistic.
Good morning , UWS.I sure hope it is the end of the matter. As a United fan, Evra didn't exactly do a good job of representing the club yesterday, especially at the end of the match.
For those watching the adverts, I can recommend the first season of Archer to you. You can access on Hulu Plus.
I agree BD. He did apologize and I expect a two game ban by the club.
The second half kicks off from Villa Park.
Villa getting us underway in the second half.
No changes by either club.
"Archer," eh? I'll check it out.
Btw, for those of you interested, I'll be live blogging the Grammys here tonight.
I will be a little concerned once Citeh make changes as they have plenty of reinforcements on the bench.
what time do they start? I am sure the missus will be watching.
As to the comment about the shirts, UWS, . . . COME ON CITEH!!!
Kolorov wins a corner off of Hutton.
I remember commenting that I was pleased to see Evra start running toward the tunnel at the end of the match but sadly he didn't do that. He was wrong doing what he did.... I know he tried to be the bigger man and shake hands but he then became small again with his actions
As for SAF's comments, he should have said nothing and let LiverSox deal with it. If they do act, it might be seen as doing as Fergie wants
Citeh straight onto the front foot again.
So who picks the color for Shey's keeper uniform? DRAB
Agreed, UWS. It's a club matter now, IMHO. He disobeyed the club's and King Kenny's wishes.
I think Evra should apologize and get a club ban too. I thought he embarrassed MUFC.
Speaking of the Grammys.... what are your thoughts about Whitney Houston?
What a waste
Villa actually have a corner!
I agree with a ban for Evra
I agree too. SAF needs to let Liverpool handle the matter.
I agree with your statement about Whitney Houston. Sad and tragic. She was about our age and had so much to offer.
I was never a fan, to be fair. I think she started the whole trend of vocal pyrotechnics in soul/r 'n' b singing that has led to the kind of American Idol/The Voice oversinging that clogs up the charts today.
That said, she was my age - so that's very sad to see her go that way.
UWS, I bet your errands were more entertaining than the first half of this match.
I was not a fan, but I know she had a long career ahead of her and instead her life was a tragic waste.
I have a problem with what Suarez did at the end of the first half. He rifled the ball into the stands near the tunnel. He could hit someone square in the face
Speaking of hitting someone square in the face, when I was playing for Safepac, I cleared the ball out of bounds and hit my mother right in the face... two minutes later... I didn't the exact same thing... she moved into the car for the rest of the match
I did not agree with Rio refusing to shake hands with Suarez and he is supposed to be the skipper along with Evra.
Bent fouls Kolorov just outside the box.
Lescott heads wide from a free kick by Silva.
Just goes to show you that footballers aren't the most mature individuals.
I nearly hit my dad in the face when clearing out of bounds while playing for an AYA team. Fortunately, he saw the funny side of it.
She kept the Johnnys from making number one over here! They were #2 behind Gloria Estafan and then moved down to #3 as WH moved to #2. The following week, WH was #1 and JHJ back to #2 for another few weeks... I NEVER FORGAVE HER FOR THAT!
I agree. It is tough being a manger in this day and age.
Keep it tight Villa
pop one in at the other end while your at it
United are back to second!
Remember that freak Joel Hunter chain saw incident with his dad?!
Sorry UWS. I was not aware of that.I understand your dislike for her.
Beautiful ball from Silva. Perfect back spin to keep it running into touch.
I would love to hear that story!
COME ON YOU HAMMERS!
I MEAN COME ON YOU VILLAINS!
well wide by Kolorov as Silva and Aguero fail to make contact.
I'm off to help with a clean up project . . . PENALTY!!!!
Stilian Petrov is booked for a clumsy foul on Silva just outside the box.
Nearly a penalty there as Silva went twinkle toeing his way toward the box and Petrov broguht him down.
Collins clears out the free kick for a corner.
The free kick from Silva is headed over the bar and out for a corner by Collins.
GOAL! Lescott pokes home Citeh's opener! 0-1!
Bugger, West Ham are one down.
BUGGER! LESCOTT SCORES FROM THE RESULTING CORNER AS BARRY HEADED ACROSS.CITEH TAKE THE LEAD.
Not pretty but they all count.
Now it's all Citeh pressure.
Aguero shoots wide, trying to put Citeh two up.
WOW! That's the thirteenth goal Villa have conceded from set pieces and with such a defensive minded manager.
Dunne is booked for a foul on Aguero. It didn't seem that severe in my opinion.
On that rotten note, I have to leave
Have a good week boys
Let's have United crush Ajax this week
TTFN
Heskey is withdrawn - N'Zogbia on.
Charlie N'Zogbia is on for Ivanhoe.
Cheerio, UWS - have a great week!
Cheers , UWS. Ditto regarding Ajax.Have a great week before your deserved winter break.
Before I forget, Cheers WHR. Wishing you the best with the clean up project.
Villa seem set for their sixth home league defeat of the season . Poor by Villa's standards.
Villa have fifteen minutes left to grab this one back from the brink. I can't really see it happening.
Gardener has a shot deflected to Hart, but at least Villa are finally trying to attack.
Me either. What a shame.Villa seem ashamed of themselves.
There is a delay. Is it a streaker on the pitch. If so that is the most entertainment in this match .Judging by the boos, the "invader" has been apprehended.
Citeh old boy , Stephen Ireland, is on for Albrighton.
Shame that he didn't take the cue from the guy who handcuffed himself to the goalpost a few week's back.
On his day, Ireland can single handedly change the course of a match. I have a feeling this is not one of those.
Another big Villa connection - Villa #2 David Platt.
I agree. The suffering fans need some sort of entertainment.
I have the feeling you're right about this day. Just over ten minutes left and Villa have yet to really test Joe Hart.
That is true. Lots of connections today.
Six home defeats is a real disgrace.
McLeish under pressure, do you think?
Petrov's speculative effort is actually deflected for a corner.
Dunne heads straight at Hart from the corner.
He has to be. The results and tactics are unacceptable by Villa standards.
I thought the early match would be like this and that this match would be the more entertaining of the two.
great run by Milner, but a superb interception by Cuellar.
Nasri is on for Adam Johnson.
N'Zogbia has a shot deflected off of Lescott for a corner.
Oh - big chance for Cuellar there and he's blown it over the top!
OH! Cuellar headed just over from the corner, but should have scored as that was a free header. Villa's best chance of the match.
Looks like Dzeko is going to come on for a late cameo.
N'Zogbia is booked for a late challenge on De Jong and Dzeko is on for Aguero.
VILLA IS A LOAD OF RUBBISH!
Kolorov heads out for a Villa corner.
Oh - what a save by Hart as Villa pour on the pressure!
What a reflex save by Hart off the corner.
Into stoppage time.I am not sure what the amount is.
The save was from Bent. There are three minutes of stoppage time and one has been played as Richards is on for Silva.
Now Dunne is down after colliding with Hart. It was fair, but a nasty one.
I guess there will be about ninety seconds left once play resumes.
