Howay! Now that the NFL season is well and truly buried, we can return to the true traditions of Monday Night Football - today, it's a cracker with high flying Spurs traveling to Anfield to meet the Reds. The shocking UK weather continues with a heavy fog blanketing Anfield this evening, threatening the on-time kick-off. Stay tuned sports fans!
The team news is in and the shocker is that Bellamy and Carroll start up from Suarez relegated to the bench:
Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Adam, Spearing, Kuyt, Gerrard, Bellamy, Carroll.
Subs: Doni, Aurelio, Suárez, Henderson, Coates, Downing, Carragher.
Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto, Parker, Livermore, Kranjcar, Modric, Bale, Adebayor.
Subs: Cudicini, Saha, Rose, Nelsen, Khumalo, Luongo, Lancaster.
Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland).
Spurs get us underway at Anfield. Hope this one will be as good as yesterday's six goal thrilla!
All Spurs pressure in the early going here.
Carroll goes down in the box under a challenge from Dawson but it appeared that Dawson got that tackle exactly right. Carroll's not happy, though.
It's Ian Darke and Macca on the mic here this afternoon. Lovely jubbly.
Btw, I'm on this First Row link:

Pool free kick now conceded by Scotty Parker.
Gerrard should be the favorite to hit it. He's already shown his intent this evening with that lovely through ball to Carroll.
No sense of that earlier fog bank now.
Lovely - there's a cat on the pitch that Brad Friedel is trying to wrangle. He doesn't strike me that he's a cat fancier. Fantastic!
The stewards have successfully wrangled the cat now and the match is back on. A few moments of stoppage time then to be added for the cat pitch invasion.
That one would be good for the "What Happened Next?" feature on the sports quizzes.
The new Hair Bear is Assou Ekotto who looks to be auditioning for the new incarnation of Earth, Wind and Fire.
Johnson has a chance to curl in a cross but it's far too high.
Half of the first half gone, then, and still no breakthrough. Precious few chances, either.
Oh - Great free kick over and Kuyt nearly got on the end of it. Might have been offside as well.
Good afternoon,BD. It's similar weather to the U.K. Cool ,windy, and drizzly here today.
Kranjcar hits a nice shot but Reina is more than a match for it.
Hiya, MUR! Are you on your afternoon break in the classroom?
Hello Bd. I have last period conference today, so I will take advanthge and join you for Monday night footie.
The first row link was not successful, so I am on ESPN#.com
I meant espn3.com
Brad punches away a corner by Charlie Adam as he started at Anfield years ago.
Now Liverpool have a free kick and Bellamy shoots into the wall.
ESPN 3 is not much better as it has to be reloaded every few seconds.
Bale volleys straight to Reina after a great run and cross by Kyle Walker.
Coming up on half-time now. Still no breakthrough.
Lots of spurs possession, then Kyle Walker has a shot deflected by Agger for a corner.
A poor Modric corner and Bale tries to do something with it.
How has your Monday been? Did you have any classes today?
One minute of stoppage time.
Brad does well to block an effort from Glen Johnson and then the halftime whistle is blown immediately after that.It seems that the most exciting moment in the first half was when a stray cat had the audacity to stroll on the Anfield pitch. SHOCKING FELINE BEHAVIOR!!!
I've had a good day. I had an early meeting and ordinarily would have gone home for lunch and a nap but I was feeling an energy surge, so I had a swim instead. I'm into a class in about half an hour. I'm about to go set it up.
The cat pitch invasion was indeed a highlight.
Hey Boys,
I am back from a walk with Shadow in lovely weather and it is half time
Not sure what score I want for this one. I guess a Spurs win to knock Pool even further down the table
Good afternoon, UWS. For once your weather is better than ours. It's like England during the Spring today.I'm still at school.
Shadow would have chased that stray cat across the Anfield pitch. Sparky too.
The second half is about to start as Bruce Springsteen is being played over the PA at Anfield.
The second half is underway.
Will Luis Suarez or Louis Saha see any second half action?
I'm back from setting up my class and Liverpool are kicking off the second half.
Great tackle by Skrtel on Ade.
Welcome back BD! The big question is if either Luis or Louis will come on in the second half.
Why is cap looking at Ledley King? How about Cahill?
I agree - I suspect that Suarez will be introduced for Carroll around about the 60th minute. Andy hasn't really done it tonight.
Agreed - with King's bizarre training regimen (or non-regimen), he can't be relied upon in a major tournament. My four center backs for Euro 2012 are Jagielka, Cahill, Lescott and Dawson.
Sorry boys,
I am not going to be able to contribute much.
I busy helping Kath make some dinner
What if Luis comes on for a midfield player and plays up front with Andy in a 4-4--2. Would Liverpool be more productive in attack?
What are you cooking UWS?
Afternoon, UWS. Good to hear that you're making yourself useful around the house. You're usually bone bloody idle. ;-}
I agree with those center back choices. That;'s who I would bring to EURO 2012.
Argybargy between Agger and Bale. Bale pushed Agger and I've seen players red carded for that. We'll see how patient the ref is.
Bale has just been booked.
Terrible dive there from Bale. That's what got Agger's dander up.
Not nice by BD towards UWS. I am usually idle too when it comes to cooking.
More poor play there from Carroll. His confidence is shot. Suarez has been up warming himself. Should be on shortly.
Still waiting for that thread on LHS, UWS - get it done, son! ;-}
Oh dear - Bale with his right foot, which he usually uses to stand on, and he fluffs his lines.
UWS must be pleased as Gotham City defeated Bean Town 21-17. Batman was delighted and The Boy wonder didn't know what to make of the halftime show as he is young and impressionable.
I was disappointed in the lack of wardrobe malfunctions this year.
ESPN3 is acting up this second half.Great save by Brad from Martin Kelly.
I was hoping Madonna would have some.
Liverpool again are electing to just lump speculative balls at Andy Carroll. I don't think that helps the kid.
Last chance for Carroll to impress here - Suarez should be on momentarily.
Suarez is coming on - perhaps it's Kuyt to come off instead.
I'm off to my class momentarily. I'm hoping my GBB can make a quick impression before I'm off.
Better now as firstrowsports is up and working . Thanks for the link, BD.
I think Suarez is going on for Kuyyt.I think that will help Carroll.
My pleasure, mate. Here comes Luis.
Now that change is being made as there is a huge roar from the KOP end.
Suarez immediately wins a corner off of Dawson.
Carroll heads straight to Brad off the corner.
The Liverpool faithful are happy to see Luis back. He should reward them with a goal or two.
I am sure you would like to see that.
Ian and Macca are surmising that Harry and co are happy with a point here. That would take them up to 50 points and solidly in third, seven points clear of Chelski in fourth and five shy of United in second. They don't have any real designs on the title but CL is virtually assured now.
I would like to see that, but it's hard to see Luis topping RVP now. He's got 22 bloody goals in the league now. I was banking on his getting crocked at some point.
That is definitely true,BD. A point at Anfield would be a great result for Spurs.
Parker is down for the count now and that's my cue to make my exit. Enjoy the rest of the match, mate.
Cheerio!
I thought her would too. He has played many more games than I expected.Suarez is booked for kicking Scotty Parker in the stomach. Proof that his timing is off.
Cheers BD. Enjoy your class.
Luis Saha is on for Ade as he makes his Spurs debut. He is booed for being an ex Everton and Man United player.
Bale runs at the Liverpool defense and shoots just wide.
Stewart Downing is on for Craig Bellamy.
Suarez turns and loses control of the ball, but Parker runs it out for a corner.
That should have been the lead for Liverpool as Andy Carroll shoots high and wide from close range.
Skrtel is harshly booked for what seemed like a fair tackle. He caught Bale on the Ankle , but id get the whole ball. Harsh on Skrtel.
Carroll wins a corner off of Parker after being put through by Suarez off the break. Brad punches away the Liverpool corner.
Andy Carroll heads on to the roof of the net off a cross by Glen Johnson.
Agger is fouled by Krancjar just outside the box. A little soft,IMHO.
Brad punches away a free kick by Stevie G , then the ref blows for a foul.
My link went out as a spurs player was through on goal. Now Liverpool have a free kick form long range.
Suarez shot at Brad when he had just the keeper to beat.
It was Bale who had just Reina to beat and shot against Reina's legs as bot Bale and Suarez missed sitters less than a minute apart.
Danny Rose is on for Krnacjar.
There will be four minutes of stoppage time.
Now into stoppage time.
It finishes 0-0 at Anfield as Spurs fail to score in the league for the first time since that 3-0 opening match loss at OT.
Just a reminder that the early match on Saturday is also on ESPN2 as United host Liverpool. Her's hoping for revenge.
CHEERS!
Again, didn't really miss much
Did anyone see a little spit at the end of the match by Suarez when he passed the refs? Coincidence or on purpose?
Nor did I - what a bore. I'm glad that wasn't the Fox match. It also changes nowt. Spurs are still a lock for 3rd whilst Pool are short of the CL spot and probably will need a Cup win in order to secure a Europa berth.
