I have a link at www.firstrow.tv/watch/104781/1/watch-sunderland-vs-middlesbrough.html
The match kicks off from The SOL.The first time these teams have met in the FA Cup in 36 years.
Middlesbrough have the first shot on target as a poor headed clearance from John O'Shea reaches Scott McDonald and he shoots straight to Mignolet from long range.
It has started sort of scrappy as you would expect in a local derby cup tie.
Seb Larsson heads wide from long range after a great run and cross by Sessignon.
Sunderland win the first coroner of the match as McLean won it off of McMahon. Then McLean heads inches over off the corner from David Vaughan.
Great tackle by Bates on Sessignon. Well done Master Bates.
Now Sunderland have a free kick just outside the box.
Vaughan appeared to want to cross the free kick, but he curled it just over, surprising 38 year old reserve keeper, Coyne.
GOAL!!!! 0-1 MIDDLESBROUGH AS BARRY ROBSON SCORES A GREAT VOLLEY OUT OF THE TOP DRAWER.
The 33 year old Scottish international scored his first ever FA Cup goal , but Martin looked furious after two poor headed clearances by John O'Shea, but Mignolet did not stand a chance with that volley.
Marvin Emnes shoots wide, then hand bags between Kieran Richardson and Barry Robson.
Another Middlesbrough attack as Djukovic has a shot blocked, but Emnes was offside.
I did not realize this , but the winner of this cup tie will be the only northeast team left in the FA Cup tie.
Craig Gardener shots over from long range.
Hoyte vs Bardsley and the Arsenal Academy factor won over the MUFC Academy factor this time.
Connor Wickham has a shot beaten away by Coyne as the 38 year old saved from the teenager. The shot was so powerful that the save went back to the halfway line. McLean had a header straight to Coyne.
McLean has a cross of Robson for a Sunderland corner.
The corner from Larsson is headed away by Haroun and the Middlesbrough fans chant his name every time he touches the ball.
McLean wins a corner off of Haroun.
Bardsley receives a lecture off a late challenge on Scott McDonald as Middlesbrough attempted to break off the corner.
El Mohammedy and Dong are warming up off the Sunderland subs bench.
Hines fouls Wickham as Sunderland have a free kick in a decent position.
Wickham heads over the free kick from Seb Larsson and Rhys Williams is down injured off the free kick.McLean accidentally backed into Williams and a bloody mouth is being treated.May have lost a tooth.
A poor cross by Connor Wickham after a great Sunderland move.
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS CRAIG GARDENER CONTROLS A PASS FROM KIERAN RICHARDSON AND SCORES WITH A FINISH OFF THE POST. Or is it as Kevin Friend consults with the linesman and disallows the goal. The replay shows that Gardener controlled the pass with his hands, but it was disallowed because Wickham was in an offside position, impeding the keeper.Middlesbrough still lead.
Sunderland attack immediately and Bardsley goes past McDonald. His deflected cross is punched away by Coyne.
Justin Hoyte is booked for a rash challenge on Sessignon.
Great save by Mignolet from Djukovic off a through ball from Haroun, then Haroun puts Djukovic thorough again and he shoots wide with just the keeper to beat.
Richardson is booked for a foul on Emnes as the ref played advantage
Two minutes of stoppage time.
Halftime and Middlesbrough lead 0-1.
Martin O'Neill wanted to talk to Kevin Friend just outside the dressing room, but Friend was having none of it, telling him to go back to his dressing room.
The teams are out of the tunnel as the second half kicks off. Martin makes a change as Frazier Campbell is on for Connor wickham in his first appearance in 18 months due to injury,
Mignolet drops a cross but gathers it in time.
Sunderland win a free kick for hand ball in a decent position.
The free kick from Gardener is well wide.
Barry Robson wins a corner for Middlesbrough.
Emnes volleys wide off the corner as Bates headed on the corner and Jukiwiecz passed to Emnes.
Haroun is fouled by Gardener as he wins a free kick in a decent position.
Robson curled the free kick and it was always heading wide.
So five former Man Yoo trainees are on the pitch playing for Sunderland : O'Shea, Bardsley, The Orange, Richardson, and Frazier Campbell.
Morning, MUR - thanks for the post. I have to admit that I chose a few extra moments of sleep over watching this early one. But thanks for getting us going. I'm on your link now.
The Orange heads clearance from a deflected injury and may have injured his shoulder as he landed awkwardly. It is actually his knee and he may be done for the day.
Good morning BD. I hope you are well rested after some well deserved kip. This has actually been a pretty decent match.
GOAL 1-1 AS FRAZIER CAMPBELL SCORES IN HIS FIRST APPEARANCE IN 18 MONTHS AS sUNDERLAND SCORED ON THE BREAK OFF OF MIDDLESBROUGH'S CORNER.
A horrible mix up between Barry Robson and Marvin Emnes off the short corner lead to the goal as Michael Turner is on for the injured Orange.
Great tackle by Bates on Campbell as he was put thorough by Sessignon.
Middlesbrough clear the corner from Seb Larsson as Sunderland scored off of Middlesbrough's corner , but not their own.
It was a horrible mistake by Barry Robson as his back pass to McLean led to the goal. A superb pass from McLean for the goal.
Rhys Williams has a shot deflected for a corner, then Bardsley nearly scores an OG off the corner. Emnes blazes over off the next corner.
Coyne does well to save a deflected shot from his Welsh compatriot, David Vaughan.
A cross from Mclean is cleared by Hines for a corner after McMahon gifted possession.
Coyne punches away the corner then Sessignon shoots well over.
Julio Arca is disappointed to be suspended for Middlesbrough after a red card last week as he would have loved to have faced his former club in a local derby cup tie.
Rhys Williams is booked for a rash challenge on David Vaughan.
Campbell heads just over with a difficult header, but Coyne seemed to have it covered.
The announcer said the draw for the fifth round is straight after this match.
Great back tracking by Barry Robson to dispossess Craig Gardener.
Now O'Shea is bleeding at the bridge of his nose as Barry Robson has a cross deflected for a corner.
Gardener heads the corner straight into the air and Rhys Williams is called for a foul on Sessignon.
Haroun is called for a clumsy foul on David Vaughan.
Connor Ripley is on for Middlesbrough. I think he is on for McMahon as the link temporarily was down, but is working again.
My link went down and I see that Middlesbrough keeper, Coyne is on the bench injured. I am not sure who is in goal as first choice Jason Steele is also out injured.
Bates does well to clear for a corner as Mclean went pass McMahon to cross.
The corner from Larsson was cleared , but his return cross was well overcooked.
The sub was Ripley for Coyne and the 18 year old is making only his third first team appearance. He is the son of former Blackburn player, Stuart Ripley.
It seems as if there will be four minutes of stoppage time.
There is four minutes of stoppage time.
Connor Ripley makes his first save and looks a lot like dad.
Great tackle by McMahon on Gardener.
OH! Nearly a winner as the ball broke to McLean and his near post effort hit the side netting.
Kevin Friend blows the final whistle and it finishes 1-1.
I will see if I can find a link for the fifth round draw.
I guess the draw will be on this link in about fifteen minutes.
Former Sunderland manager Roy Keane and former Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate give their opinions on the cup tie.
Sounds like I made the right choice in sleeping in, taking a shower and having a bagel. I'm here for the draw and the late one now.
I thought you would have a bagel and coffee.I thought it was a pretty decent match.
Time for the fifth round draw.
Spain's Gaieka Mendieta and Mark Noon who faced each other when Middlesbrough and Nuneaton faced each other in a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup six years ago when Southgate conceded a penalty. They will pull the balls out of the hat
I guess they will pull it out of the tumbler.
Liverpool vs Brighton ( shades of'83)
Everton vs Blackpool or Sheffield Wednesday
Chelsea vs Birminham City
Crawley vs Stoke City
Stevenage vs Spurs
Norwich vs Leicester City
Sunderland or Middlesbrough vs Arsenal or Villa
Millwall or Sotton vs Bolton
That completes the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Gooner is okay with the draw, despite the away fixture. Could have been worse.
The team news out of the Emirates:
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Fabianski; Coquelin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen; Song, Ramsey; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Walcott; Van Persie. Subs: Szczesny, Sagna, Arteta, Park, Henry, Benayoun, Arshavin.
Aston Villa (4-4-2): Given; Hutton, Cuellar, Dunne, Warnock; Ireland, Clark, Petrov, Agbonlahor; Keane, Bent. Subs: Guzan, Heskey, Bannan, Weimann, Lichaj, Baker, Gardner.
I wish the Mighty LUFC were still in it with a tasty 5th Round draw against Crawley Town.
Hello BD. The winner of this match is away to the winner of the earlier match. A trip to the northeast.
It could also be Stevenage. I am not so sure if Tony Pulis fancies a trip to Crawley.
we hosted Crawley in the fifth round last year and it was not so easy, so it will be tricky for Stoke away to Crawley.
Early free kick oppo for the Gunners.
A rocket from Vermaelen well turned around by Given.
A great save by Given off a rocket by Vermaelen from the free kick.
The corner from Rosicky is headed away.
RVP wins a corner off a great run by Theo 14.
The corner is cleared.
In case you are wondering , Burton Albion lead Oxford United 1-0 and it it is 1-1 in the Scottish League Semi between Celtic and Falkirk.
You are rapidly taking over from Nocito Sports Center, MUR. Where is UWS this morning?
Arsene will be expecting a better showing this week. Stephen Ireland could be a thorn in their side if he is on his game today. You just don't know with this quirky character.
I am not sure, BD. I hope he is not having an FA Cup hangover.
Could well be - I know that was a body blow with the late winner for the Scouse.
Stephen Ireland is an interesting one. He was so dynamic for Citeh but has dropped off in his form in recent years.
Oh - wrong option there from Theo as he got through a couple of challenges. Should have gone across goal but sliced it wildly. Typical Theo.
I feel the same way. It should be an interesting tie as Brighton won at Anfield back in '83 as old boy Jimmy Case scored twice on route to Wembley. I just don't see history repeating itself.
It's all Arse so far - I don't see much threat from the Villans at present.
He can still win a game on his own when he is in form as he demonstrated at Stamford Bridge a few weeks ago and this is a one off match vs a shaky defense.
Celtic take the lead vs Falkirk
It has been all Arse, but they need to put Villa away or it could be shades of the Brighton match from yesterday.
How has the weekend been with Gooner?
Oxford United tie it up at Burton Albion.
Jack the lad in the stands - how Arse have missed his services!
I agree. He adds some steel to the midfield and shows more commitment than his fellow Gunners.
Ramsey picks up a cheap free kick there in the D after some decent attacking through Theo.
A cross from Theo 14 intended for RVP is cleared then Villa commit a clumsy challenge just outside the box.
Straight into the wall by RVP.
Too close in really for RVP and it's a rubbish effort in the end.
Despite the Arse possession, Given has only had to make that one save
Typical Flappianski action there, the Arsenal defense and keeper all at kittens at the back.
Nice effort from Oxlade-Chamberlain there but whiffs it near post.
Nearly slipped through to RVP and he wins a corner. Unfortunately, he'll take it as well. Don't get that.
A cross by Robbie Keane was over hit and Gunners fans will love that.
Are you still at Gooner HQ?
RVP wins another Arse corner.
The corner from Rosicky is headed away. They have done absolutely nothing with their corners.
Still at Gooner HQ - flying out around 3:30 and back at Blue Devil HQ tonight.
I am sure it has been a fantastic weekend.Have a safe trip back.
Keane wins a corner off of Kos. Is that Villa's first corner?
GOAL! Oh dear - it's a calamitous headed goal from Dunne.
GOAL !!! 0-1 VILLA AS PETROV PLAYS THE CORNER SHORT , PLAYS A ONE-TWO AND CROSSES FOR DUNNE TO EASILY HEAD IN. WHERE WAS FLAPPY?
As usual, it's a set piece that does in the Gunners. Short corner to Robbie Keane who stands up a lovely ball to the backpost for Dunne who powers the header home.
0-1 Villa!
Just as I stated . As in the Brighton match, Villa were allowed to hang there, grew in confidence , and have now taken the lead. I am sure Gooner is not happy.
Correct. Petrov played the one two with Robbie, who provided the cross.
A through ball deflects off of another ex Spur, Bent and is gathered by Flappy.
Agbon makes a run and a clearance deflects off of Robbie, straight to Flappy.
Gooner's not happy one bit. Arse trying to strike back immediately.
Villa did not start as a particularly popular side today as three ex Spurs in Bent, Keane, and Hutton start for Villa. Then Robbie assists with the goal, so the Gunners fans are not really amused.
Bannan and Lichaj are on the Villa bench so they may not be your favorite side today either, BD.
I'm just glad that Bannan and Lichaj aren't cluttering up our bench anymore.
Arsenal seem to have run out of ideas. It should be an interesting lecture by Wenger at the half.
I don't blame you.
A chance for Coq Au Vin, but it is easily blocked.
A great block by Given aftwr a stupid defensive error by Hutton.
Mertesacker heads well over from the corner by Ramsey.
Dunne , but not dusted. BOOM BOOM Gerry. It could be well Dunne for Villa this half.
Yellow card for Dunne as he plows through Rosicky.
Celtic now lead Falkirk 3-1. It appears that they will face Killie in the Scottish League Cup Final.
I agree - corny but a good line there from Martin.
Not well Dunne.
GOAL! Smash and grab from Villa there. Bent!
One minute of stoppage time .
GOAL 0-2 VILLA AS EX SPUR BENT SCORES WITH A FINISH ON THE REBOUND.HUTTON PUT BENT THROUGH, FLAPPY MADE A DECENT SAVE FROM BENT, AND HE SCORED WITH HIS OWN REBOUND.
You sort of saw that coming. Villa were absorbing the Arse pressure and then launched a quick break through Ireland who threaded a ball through to Bent who scored at the second attempt.
0-2!
And that's half-time.
Halftime and 0-2 to Villa as all three ex Spurs had a hand in both goals . That will be a soar point with Arsenal fans.
I guess Villa could face a possible reunion with Martin O'Neill in the fifth Round and Bent could be returning to the SOL.
The second half is underway and must surely be over.
We're back on for the second half. The Gunners really need to get one back early doors.
And they nearly do - Mertesacker with a header off the line!
The corner from Oxadle-Chamberlain is headed out for another corner and the Gunners nearly score as a shot from the next corner is cleared off the line.
Gooner's unhappy that Arsene didn't make any changes at half time. What's he waiting for - Arse have to chase this match now. Should have been Arteta or even Henry off the bench.
Wenger faced McLeish in the Carling Cup final last year and lost. Will it b another cup loss vs McLeish.
Oh - clever interplay there but Theo should have pulled the trigger earlier. Petrov did well to get the lunging tackle in.
I agree. The current starters aren't doing anything but for a couple of set pieces.
Ah - another chance goes begging there. Ramsey through the middle but he chooses to poke it with his right rather than hitting it more definitely with his left peg.
That was a chance and it looked like Ramsey shot straight at Given . TH12 is thinking I would have scored.
Long shot effort from the "Verminator" there. Lots of Arse presure now.
A couple of final scores:
In League 2 it's Burton Albion 1 Oxford United 1
Celtic 3 Falkirk 1 in the Scottish League Cup semi.
I'd have TH-12 off the bench and warming up. Dunne might be off.
Dunne's a lucky boy. RVP lines up the pen.
Nicely tucked away and RVP runs into the bet to pick it out.
1-2!
A penalty to the Gunners as Dunne trips Ramsey in the box off a superb through ball from Song and RVP sends Given the wrong way from the spot.
It's Arsenal 1 Villa 2.
I agree. Dunne could have been sent off. Now we have a cup tie.
GOAL !!! 2-2 . A GREAT RUN BY THEO AND A CLEARANCE OFF THE LINE BY IRELAND BOUNCES OFF OF THEO FOR A BIZARRE EQUALIZER!
A bit fortunate for Theo there but he earned his luck with a dazzling run and cheeky near post effort.
2-2!
I guess that's the luck of the cup. Initially it was a great save by Given, but that was a clearance that Ireland will quickly want to forget.
Martin Tyler seems to have forgotten that Dunne picked up a yellow card in the first half because he and the color guy continue to argue the irrelevant point about whether it was a goalscoring opportunity. The only issue is whether it was a bad enough foul for a second yellow. I think it was. Villa should be down to ten.
Is Gooner celebrating?
The momentum has completely shifted to the Gunners now and you would expect that they'll score a third.
And there it is! Bent goes to ground and brings down Kosc.
RVP can win this now with a second pen.
Cool and calm from RVP into the other side and Arsenal are 3-2 up! Amazing turnaround!
WOW ! Another penalty for the Gunners as bent fouls Kos in the box. That's why he shouldn't be tackling.
GOAL !!! 3-2 ARSENAL AS RVP SCORES HIS SECOND PEN SENDING GIVEN THE WRONG WAY AGAIN, BUT IN THE OTHER CORNER THIS TIME.
25 goals this season for RVP now - 19 in the league, 4 in Europe and now 2 in the Cup.
You expect to see a defender fouling a forward for a penalty, but not a forward fouling a defender. A great run by Kos, but clumsy by Bent.I agree with the decisions to award both penalties.
Time for McLeish to "unleash" Barry Bannan, I suspect.
What a season for RVP!
What about Lichaj?
Very clumsy, I agree. A defender would just shepherd Kosc toward the by-line and out.
Lichaj would only help Arse toward a fourth and fifth.
How is Gooner celebrating. Dances? Cart wheels?
And maybe a sixth or seventh!
Relatively calm, actually. He's getting older.
I see. Did He shout?
I think it may have been Hutton with that bizarre goal line clearance instead of Ireland.
Great save by Given from Theo after being put through by RVP.
Yeah - a bit of shouting that woke up the dog.
I have a felling there will be more goals before this match ends.
How did Petrov beat the offside trap there. Close call.
Petrov was onside from that through ball and should have done better as he wins a corner.
Arteta is on for Rosicky as it's like for like.
Arteta on for Rosicky - Gooner approves.
Just over by RVP as he is on a hat-trick.
Oh - RVP on a hat-trick there - nearly curled it home.
Gary Gardener, brother of Craig, is on for Agbon.Older bruv played in the earlier match for Martin.
will there be another twist in this dramatic tale?
Hey boys
Sorry I have been a miss today. I've been shopping, walking the dog and helping with homework.
I am stuck upstairs on the iPad cuz Tom is doing work on the computer.
What a comeback
