Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Grayson Walks the Plank!

I thought Leeds fans had dodged a bullet yesterday by somehow managing to hang on to Snoddy beyond the January transfer window. And then...I've woken up to the news that Simon Grayson has been sacked by the club. Sure - a 1-4 result to Birmingham (and our home form in general) is disgraceful; however, I'm not sure which manager would be able to do better with our current resources. We're a top half Championship club that sells our best players each transfer window but somehow Cap'n Birdseye has decided we should be challenging for promotion. I don't get it. Can any of you lads talk me off the ledge this morning?

I wonder if there will be a mutiny on the ship!I hope you still support Leeds since they've been your club for close to forty years. It can't be any worse than the Ridsdale years. I can't figure this out either as I had thought that Grayson was doing a good job.I'm sure he will find a job elsewhere. It's ironic that Brum was his last opposition becuase opposing manager Chris hughton was a victim in similar circumstances at Newcastle and look what a good job he's doing now.I would have thought that Captain Birdseye would have realized that Brum is the best team in current form in the Championship and would probably do better in the EPL than Wigan, Bolton,Wolves, Blackburn, and QPR.Captain Birdseye took over Chelsea in similar cicumstances in 1982 and used a different model to get them to where they were when Abramovic took over.I am not sure why he's running Leeds this way. It surprises me. Either way, Grayson will be like Hughton and bounce back. Finally I really hope this helps to talk you off the ledge.

Just read the comment from UWS. You can come join us as Nani is here and yes it is a lovely club, but I hope you stay loyal to the club you have followed for so many years.

Oh - these aren't the darkest days by half, so I'll be loyal to the Whites 'til the end. I thought Grayson was a champion gaffer and I'll always love him for getting us up to the Championship, but onward to the next era.

Don't you think that he may have lost faith with the chairman over the Howson sale and told him so? I think he threw Cap'n Birdeye's Palm tree over the side of the ship and got dismissed for it.

I did think of that - could well be. After all, Bates has shopped Beckford, Schmeichel, Gradel, Kilkenny, Johnson and now Howson all in the past two years. I could understand his frustration.

Today's rumors, Di Matteo or Warnock?

Yeah - it just gets worse, this story. Of course, between the two, I'd have Roberto in a heartbeat. If it's Warnock, I'll have to start calling my beloved Evil Leeds, at least during the Warnock Era (perish the thought!).

That is a rogue's gallery, isn't it? I'm still hoping for Roberto.

I was up sick during the night and according to Sky Sports News Gus Poyet ruled himself out .A big blow as he is a better choice than any of the above candidates.I would go for Lee Clark who has done a great job at neighboring Huddersfield. Wee Gordon had a mare at Middlesbrough and has not always been a successful manager. He may have done a good job at Celtic, but he also did horribly at Coventry. Go for Lee Clark.

That's a good shout, MUR. Lee Clark definitely knows the area and has done a good job at Huddersfield. The expectations with him coming in wouldn't be high and he might be given a chance to build the side, as Grayson did.

Anyone but Warnock!

Of course, he did get QPR promoted!
