Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Arsenal vs Blackburn is about to kick off from the EM.
It s west Ham 0 Millwall 0 after 27 minutes, but the Hammers have been playing with ten men since the tenth minute as Kevin Nolan received a straight red for a violent foul.
The match kicks off from the EM
Donny vs Reading and Pompey vs Hull have cancelled due to the weather.
GOAL 1-0 GUNNERS AND IT'S THAT MAN RVP WITH AN EASY FINISH AFTER A GREAT PASS FROM COQ AU VIN TO THEO WHO ASSISTED WITH THE GOAL.
I clocked the goal at One minute and 23 seconds into the match.
It all started with a poor cross from Coq Au Vin that was poorly cleared by the Rovers defense.
Morning, MUR! Thanks for getting us started this morning. I had a particularly late night so decided to sleep in a bit. But I've bloody missed the first goal - RVP of course.
Good morning BD! How have you been? Hope you had a great night. The goal is typical of why Rovers are struggling. Comic book defending.
Oxlade-Chamberlian should have done better as he was put through by Sing , but his shot went across the face of the goal.
I did indeed enjoy a good night with some friends. We took in the new Maggie Thatcher biopic and then some drinks afterward.
Theo wins a corner off of Olsson, who has been out of position this entire match.Robbo punches away the corner from RVP.
Great ball through from Song but Oxlade Chamberlain had no one to pick out in the middle.
Sounds like an excellent night. How was the movie? Was Meryl authentic?
That West Ham v. Millwall match is a fixture that WHR has said should never be played. Of course it's on early due to police request but they could play it at 3 in the morning and there would still be aggro.
A nasty collision between Szezny and Modeste as both players went for the ball and both are down injured.
Sussudio is down receiving treatment after a clash with the Blackburn striker Modeste who picks up a yellow.
I agree with you , BD. I also feel that if both teams are in the same division and the match is on the schedule then it mus be played.
Meryl's performance is incredible. She's a deadringer to begin with and she has the voice and mannerisms down. The movie is so-so because it's not harsh enough on her IMHO.
That's a harsh yellow for Modeste as that was a genuine challenge. Not much he could have done to prevent what happened.
I agree. Maggie deserves a lot of criticism. We could do a separate post to discuss all the criticisms of Maggie.
The Hammers have been playing with ten men since the ninth minute as Nolan received a straight red.
Any thoughts about JT being stripped of the England captaincy?
Does twin Olssons mean double trouble for Rovers ?Didn't they lean from Mary Kate and Ashley?
It looks as if Donny v. Reading and Pompey v. Hull are off. Both are older grounds, so that makes sense. It doesn't look as if there are any postponements in the Prem.
The halftime score from the nasty East London Derby is 0-0. As if it would ever be nice.
LOL - boom boom MUR!
GOAL! Carlton Cole has given the Hammers the half-time advantage right on the stroke of half-time.
Correct BD.Those two matches are cancelled and none from the EPL. I think Plymouth vs Southend is the only match being played in League 2 today.
WOW! I must have missed that. I stated that it was 0-0, so ten men Hammers take the lead and Fat Sam had a spell as a player with Millwall. Now he is really unpopular, as if that bothers him.
My opinion on JT being stripped of the captaincy is that he should be stripped of a place in the squad for life let alone the captaincy. If the useless FA doesn't do it then Cap should to make a statement
Nearly a second as Mertesacker heads down a corner and Kos heads just over. Did it take a deflection off of Nzonzi.
The match has gone into a bit of a lull after the Gunners threatened to score a ton of goals early on.
Agree with you about JT. I'm actually hoping that Don Fabio goes with a youthful squad without the remnants of the "Golden Generation" in the summer.
Rosicky wins a corner off of Pedersen.
Looking forward to the live Fox match tomorrow morning. Beats the throwball game on later in the day.
I agree. The Goldens were horrible. It's time to rebuild.I hope Cap does it and doesn't leave it to his successor.
Plenty of empty seats at the Emirates today. Gooner and I have scheduled a trip over to London around Easter. Man Citeh happen to be in town that weekend - hoping to get in.
I agree. I don't think Chelsea vs United is being televised.I know the early match at Newcastle is.
Blackburn have a free kick chance now. They really have to take advantage.
GOAL! And Pederson has taken advantage. Great strike!
1-1!
I hope you do too. won't be empty seats for that match. Green bags today to protest the team's poor form. Does Gooner agree with that?
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS PEDERSEN SCORE FROM A SUPERB FREE KICK. NOW THE PROTESTS WILL BE ON.
The second half kicks off from Upton Park
GOAL! RVP again! Great team goal.
2-1!
GOAL !!! 2-1 AS RVP SCORES FROM CLOSE RANGE WITH AN EASY TAP IN FOR HIS SECOND.
This is the difference with Arsenal and RVP this season. He seems to be in the right place more often now.
Great ball through from Song to Theo who squares it to the Dutchman. Easy tap in. I think that's 20 Prem goals now. Golden Boot contest over?
I have to take Melanie to the district tennis tournament . I should be back for the start of the second half, Cheers!
3-1 Arsenal as Oxlade Chamberlain scores his debut goal for Arsenal in front of the Emirates faithful. And didn't he take it well past Robbo and tucked in.
Crikey - Gael Givet is off! Blackburn are really in amongst it now.
RVP was upended there - two footed. Nasty. And is RVP really hurt? The reactions of the other players isn't good.
Thankfully, RVP is up and trotting about again.
I agree with the color guy - why not yank RVP off at half-time?
Blackburn make a switch taking David Dunn off. They'll just try to keep the score down now.
Oh - Vermaelen off the post! This could do wonders for Arsenal's GD.
Cheerio, MUR!
Half time at the Emirates - Arsenal 3-1 up and cruising against ten men Blackburn.
I am back BD. As I type Millwall tie it up at Upton Park.
I saw Oxlade-Chamberlain score to make it 3-1 as I walked out the door. Was that his first goal for the Gunners?I missed the sending off.
Deep into the second half at Upton Park. It's 2-1 Hammers. Winston Reid with the second WH goal and Trotter with the Millwall goal.
Welcome back, MUR. I thought that the Givet red card was warranted. It really was a nasty challenge.
Hi Guys .
This will be my second attempt to join in .
How is the US today . Bloody cold over here with snow on it's way .
Where's David ?
Welcome, Chelskilad! How are you mate? No sign of UWS yet.
Good man, Ian - he admits knowing nothing about the Superbowl.
Hello Chelskilad. How have you been? It's mild and warm in Texas today.I am not sure what happened to Dave?
Well done Ian. I agree with you about the Givet challenge , BD. I rewound the DVR and watched what I missed. It was an easy decision for Andre Marriner.
Quite mild here too. We got some snow last weekend, but there's very little on the ground. It's been a freakishly warm season in WNY.
A loss would be a low blow for Millwall as they would lose a grudge match wit a man advantage. That will be a really sore spot for Millwall fans.
Same here, but it's supposed to be cooler for the next week, starting tomorrow. It should be back to normal for us for a while.
Was that TH 12 romancing the corner flag? I am trying to be diplomatic!
Fine over here thanks . Watching be game so won't be able to join in as much .
GOAL !!! 4-1 GUNNERS AND WHAT A FINISH BY ARTETA OFF THE CORNER!
Is this the first major snow of the season in England?
It's so mild here that the spring buds are starting to appear on the trees and the grass is no longer dormant. It looks like spring over here.
This could get to be a cricket score as Arteta scores the fourth.
Yes . it has been very mild so far .
Celtic lead 0-2 at Inverness Callie in the Scottish Cup.
5-1! Oxlade-Chamberlain with a brace!
Hey Boys,
I am here to see the Arse score their fourth.
I woke up half way thru the first half and saw the Gooners' score two nice goals.
I just came downstairs and emailed Tony and joined you.
WHat did I miss on the blog?
I did see MUR mention something about Chelsea United not being televised!
It is another game on the regular Fox network
FIVE ONE
O-C with his second
GOAL 5-1! THIS IS BECOMING RIDICULOUS AS OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN SCORES AN EASY SECOND AN A HAT-TRICK OF ASSISTS FOR THEO.
No complaints about Theo today - he's laid on about four of these goals.
Anyone have a link for Soccer Saturday?
Morning, UWS! Isn't it Chelski v. ManYoo on Fox tomorrow morning?
Just what Rover need... TH-12 about to come on.
They are going to make up for the 8-2 score
I just checked First Row and it has been taken over by Homeland Security!!
Yes, it is on regular Fox
Good morning UWS. How are you? I just checked the guide. Newcastle vs Villa is on at 8:30 on FSC tomorrow, but they have a French League 1 match at 11 tomorrow on FSC. If Chelsea vs United is on FSC+ then I would need a link to watch the match.
Dave . Thanks for the email . I have
already joined in ! Long before you .
I have first row .
I wonder if Dish network failed to update the schedule.
Homeland Security be buggered. I've got a lovely link for SS on My Premium TV. Go to the site and click on "Sky Sports News."
Arteta volleys well over after superb play and a superb cross by Oxlade-Chamberlain.
We lost at home this lot!!!
Arsenal now at +10 GD.
I will check that one out
I have this on but it keeps pausing
http://coolsport.tv/stream1.html
Rovers hit for six!
RVP with a hat-trick
Bloody hell - it's an RVP hat-trick!
6-1!
Will Gervinho be able to get back into this side?
GOAL !!! 6-1 AS IT IS TOOO EASY FOR RVP AS HE COMPLETES HIS GHAT-TRICK AND AN ASSIST FOR OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN
One more to cancel out that defeat at OT.
Bristol City v. managerless Leeds.
BC have lost the last three matches. Leeds have only won two of the last eight. Something's got to give!
I just checked the FSC web site and it has a French match on when United are playing.
Robbie Fowler on SS!
I hope Calamity James has a mare today. Who will be the Leeds caretaker manager today?
Into the sixth minute of stoppage time at Upton Park.
I think you'll find, MUR, that Chelski v. ManYoo is the live match on the regular Fox channel tomorrow. Similar to the one they did two weekends ago. It's a Superbowl Sunday promotion. Long may it continue.
Theo volleys over off the corner as OG nearly put Arsenal 7-1 up prior to the corner, but for a great tip over by Robbo.
I will take your word for it BD. I know the early match is being televised too.
Theo wins a corner off one of the Olsson twins.
TH 112 is on for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The early one is on Fox Soccer Channel. The big match is on Fox Fox, the one that shows the Simpsons etc.
Interview with Smiffy now, talking about his Leeds days.
Now I get it. Thanks BD. No wonder why I couldn't find it. Cheers BD!
west Ham have defeated Millwall 2-1 in the East London Derby and the Hammers played most of the match with ten men. That will be a bitter pill for Millwall to swallow.
Benayoun is on for Song.
That confused me too, two weeks ago. I couldn't understand why FSC or ESPN2 weren't playing Arsenal v. Liverpool. It was on Fox. What a change from the 80s when you couldn't get coverage of the footer for love or money!
Liversox vs Spurs is on ESPN2 on Monday afternoon as Luis Suarez returns for Liversox.
Arsenal just playing it about for fun now, toying with Blackburn.
Okay,
Tomorrow's big match is on the Fox Network. The one that would have the Super Bowl on it.
Coq au Vin looking for glory drives it well over.
That is true. I know ABC and ESPN have covered World Cup matches for years, but it was difficult until about 1998 to watch EPL matches.
I think I've well and truly sorted that mystery out already, UWS. Wakey wakey.
Sorry, I just saw Bob's explanation.
Fox Fox... .nice one
I now have Bob's SS link on.
Glad to see the Hammers win
They're going up!
Bob, what are your thoughts about my email last night
The free kick by RVP intended for TH 12 is headed away by Grant Hanley.
Now what am I going to watch during the Stuporbowl - I think "60 Minutes" is on re-runs. May tune in for the half-time show to see if there's a Madonna "wardrobe malfunction."
I didn't ignore you bruv!
I didn't say hello because I did by email
I really don't follow American football , but will be going for the Giants because that was my dad's favorite team.
Very sad news about our old stomping grounds at LHS. The base won't be the same.
Of course, the Calcutta Cup match is on BBC America this morning!
Six Nations Rugby
How about you, UWS - Giants or Pats?
England v. Scots right?
I agree. I hope I conveyed that message in the email.
England getting crushed by Pakistan in another test match in Dubai.
They bowled out Paki for 99 on the first day but then they followed that for 106 for 6 all in the first day
Day two, England all out for 141
Pakistan 222-2
Cricket update done
RVP needs a bit of the Grecian - he's getting a bit grey around the chops.
Desperate defending from Scott Dann there. He was relegated with Brum last season and will be relegated again with Blackburn this season.
I was noticing that. The EPL will look foolish if the headline reads Dad's Army wins EPL scoring title.
It appears to be a dubious double for the hapless Dann. The same may be true for Roger Johnson who joined Wolves from Brum in the summer.
They're desperately trying to get TH-12 in for a goal.
Rumor mill says that Fabio is furious with the FA for axing Terry. He is looking to see if he can veto the move
Terry is ready to quit international football for lack of support from FA bosses
IT IS ON VIDEO!! HOW DO YOU SHOW SUPPORT?
I say.. GOOD RIDDANCE!!
The soccer gods are trying to tell Johnson and Dann that they should really be playing in the Championship. I wonder if they'll take the hint this year.
I agree, UWS. I don't want to see Terry, Rio, Gerrard, Lampard or Beckham in the squad.
Did you see the news of the FA Cup Final?
Again, it is being played on the penultimate weekend of the Premier League because of the Euros but it has been announced that all the league games will be played on Sunday and leave the Final to be the only game
Why does Fabio love Terry so much?
Oh - RVP goes down looking for a pen. Waves it off.
I like that policy a whole lot better.
Glad to see news from Old Trafford that Rooney, Nani, Young and Cleverley all in the squad for the Bridge
I was on the lucky chair and would like to say that Cap should be axed as he is condoning racism by wanting JT to be England Captain. It's a no brainer Cap or does he have one. I am for axing the infamous quintet from the England squad too.
Fergie has a feud going with Alan Hansen for comments he made
He said
"By their own standards, United have been woeful for the past 18 months. I can't recall Sir Alex Ferguson's team being so bad for two successive seasons.''
Sorry SAF, I agree with Hansen
Great news for United. I agree with the Cup final policy too. Don't mind seeing the Cup Final on Saturday and the EPL matches on Sunday.
You did send that email about Lakenheath MUR
Still nothing from BD
I agree with Hansen too. They have not played to their normal standards.
Benayoun with a shot saved.
Why hasn't he played more?
Is it time for Keane to go to the chicken coop?
I did send the email , but was asking if I did a good job of conveying the message . I hope I did.
TH-12 does score!!
RVP... I aint scoring... you have it!
TH-12 gets his goal! 7-1 Arse!
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
CAN YOU ADAM AND EVE IT!!!! TH 12 SCORES AS HE DISPOSSESED A HAPLESS ROVERS DEFENDER AND PLAYED A ONE TWO WITH RVP TO SCORE HIS FIRST EPL GOAL IN FIVE YEARS . IT GOT A SMILE OUT OF WENGER.
Last kick of the game!
7-1 to the Arse... still not a 9-0 against Ipswich, 8-1 away to Forest, 8-2 against the Arse
Arsenal jump over Newcastle and Liverpool and up to fifth
So the Gunners negate that loss at OT and defeat horrible Rovers 7-1. Time to send Steve Keane to the chicken coop.
Liverpool have Spurs on Monday
Newcastle should get a win at home to Villa
Add Tommy Smith to the list with Scott Dan n and Roger Johnson. He has been relegated five times and not survived once in the EPL. If QPR survive then it will be a case of the sixth time being the charm.
The LUFC side being led out today by temporary gaffer Neil Redfearn:
Lonergan, Smith, O'Dea, Lees, Pugh, Snodgrass, Clayton, Delph, White, McCormack, Becchio.
Subs: Bruce, Rogers, Brown, Townsend, Taylor.
Wigan v. Everton on FSC - zzzzzzzzz
Wigan vs Everton kicks off from the DW. TALK ABOUT LOTS OF EMPTY SEATS!
Not a biggy on FSC
It is Wigan v Everton
For some reason, I still have FSC +. I thought I only had it free for January. They have Stoke vs Sunderland at a very snowy Brittiana Stadium
Off to the loo
Bob refuses to put in his two cents about Lakenheath
I'm on My Premium TV. can you tell which link to go to?
I noticed that Steven Pienaar returned to Everton.
Have a look at 9:38, UWS. Wakey wakey. You obviously haven't had enough coffee yet this morning? Get Kath to pour you a cuppa.
Yes, MUR - click on "Sky Sports News."
Rain on the lens at the DW - looks like shocking weather in the Northwest. Someone get that cameraman a Rory Delap tea towel.
I've just noticed that Fab Delph is back in the LUFC fold, no doubt on loan from Villa. As long as they don't fob Eric Lichaj and Barry "Bloody" Bannan back on us again, I'm happy with that.
I haven't seen Landycakes yet. Is he playing or is Pienaar taking his place?
Pienaar is starting today.Cheers BD.
Uh oh - "Bristol City have had the better of it so far," according to Tony Cottee. Not good.
Only three League One matches today and only one League 2 Match today.
If Wigan fans were to put green bags on the empty seats then they would have to empty every shop in Wigan
Chris Kamara out in the cold in shirtsleeves. What a legend!
Boom boom, MUR! Definitely true.
Posh are 0-1 up at Turf Moor against Burnley.
Oh - Landycakes is playing and alongside Bily, Cahill and Pienaar. Very attacking policy from Moyesy away from home.
Robbie Fowler at the Brittania. I bet Chris is in a heated studio. Thanks, BD.
Chesterfield take the lead at Carlisle.Bobby Zamora gives Evil QPR the lead on his debut vs Wolves in a relegation six pointer.
A definite attacking lineup for Everton, but it hasn't paid off yet.
A lucky Swansea according to Phil Thompson As Swansea's Ashley Williams handled on the line off a corner and a penalty was not called.
Di Santo forces a good save from Timmy as Wigan nearly took the lead.
Sorry, I missed that one
I don't know if I email you about hearing that London Central closed in 2007. Everything chances!
I know the Lakenheath High School team play their games in mainland Europe! How do they get there? Do they fly from the base? Could you imagine us having those trips!!
Perhaps it is not a heated studio and Chris is crazy as all the other analysts are bundled up.
Wolves losing at Loftus Road
I really don't like the Timmy cammo look. I know it's his tribute to the troops, but I still don't fancy it.
I suppose that lots of schools and even bases are closing as the troops are withdrawn.
Lots of school closings around here as with your school, UWS. We're living in some scary times.
Bobby Zamora scores on his debut for Rangers.
They do have a lot of strikers at the club now.
They had Cisse, Hulse and some other bloke playing midweek. Where is Heleguson... he has been brillant
WOW ! Great job with the news UWS. I would imagine that there are only two or three American schools remaining in England due to the closing of the American bases in Europe. I could not imagine us flying to mainland Europe for football matches. My question is how the money is available in this day of budget deficits and our government trillions of dollars in debt.
Bad news for Wolves. Very bad news. Emmanuel Frimpong has been carried off with what looks like a bad knee injury. They are down to 10 men for the time being.
Ipswich are 0-1 up at the Ricoh.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas gives Ipswich the lead at bottom club , Coventry
Arsene won't like the sound of that Ping Ping injury either.
Ipswich take the lead at Coventry
I agree. I don't like Timmy's jersey either.
