News out of the Chelski camp today that John Terry's knee knack may keep him out of action for up to two months. Why do I think that's a convenient injury for AVB?
CSKA Moscow score an late late equalizer against Real Madrid
John Terry isn't in the line up... in fact... he has have a knee operation is out for two months
Lamps isn't in the 11 either... Malouda plays instead
Chelsea's line up
Cech
Ivanovic
David Luiz
Bosingwa
Cahill
Ramieres
Malouda
Meirles
Mata
Drogba
Sturridge
Subs
Turnbull
Cole
Essien
Lamps
Mikel
Torres
Kalou
With JT's injury, it takes any decision away from Pscycho dropping him
Three matches in the Championship tonight
Barnsley v Birmingham
Millwall v Boro
and
West Ham have a chance to go back on top after a win at Blackpool
I've got the FSC coverage up through this stream:
http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/108975/1/watch-napoli-vs-chelsea.html
I would guess our resident Leeds fan would like wins for West Ham, Millwall and Barnsley... fingers crossed for all of that!
Welcome, UWS - enjoying your Winter Break? Bit of a Mardi Gras celebration tonight, you naughty boy?
Cheers, mate - I would take all three of those results, taverymuch.
AVB says that JT will be out less than six weeks after the cleaning of the knee joint
It is teeming down Naples as kick off beckons
Real Madrid have earned a 1-1 draw away to CSKA in the earlier kick-off. That should prime them for an easy home leg.
"Teeming down?" "Kick off beckons." Have you swallowed David Coleman, mate? I luv it!
Some Mardi Gras celebraton for me tonight... I TEACH
Ta
Real should have won but gave away an injury time goal
Out come the teams
Maybe you can earn some beads off the students for showing your knockers?
CL anthem time now as the camera pans over a nervous looking Chelski side.
Great atmosphere in the stadium at Napoli - the crowd were actually singing along to the anthem. Marvelous!
Away we go
I was listening to FIve Live and it just clicked off
Did you know the Canavaro is the brother of the ex Italy captain
Did not know that.
As Michael Caine would say.... not may people ....
I have the match on the TV and have Soccer Special on the computer
AVB is already up off the bench and gesticulating wildly - he knows he's under pressure tonight.
You are....NocitoSportscenter!
What's going on with the "Hairnet Guy" on Napoli?
He looks like a lunchlady - should be dishing out sloppy joes.
Oh - Cavani got round the back as Ivanovic was out of position and Cech saved brilliantly with his feet!
Hairnet Boy has got some real problems - don't know what's going on.
And Bosingwa has gone down with looks like a hammy.
I'd like to see the Serie A knocked down a peg or two!
Brum have taken the lead at Barnsley... Le Tis isn't too happy
Cech saves well with his foot... kick save and a beaut
The Young Canavaro is back on looks like that old lady on Coronation Street
Bosingwa has a problem with his hammy... going to be replaced by Cashley
Lunch lady is a good analogy!
Bugger! Brum have gone 0-1 up due to a Barnsley o.g. Does not help one bit.
Napoli just offside.. That must have been close
Bad news again... Boro take the lead at Millwall... all going pear-shaped for the Dahlgren wish list
I like the Coronation Street reference too.
It is, indeed. Crikey!
What was her name?
I am going to google it
Ena Sharples
That's the one - Ena Sharples. Classic!
The Lunch Lady is complaining to the ref about getting a clout in the mouth from Drogs.
Cech with another wonder save! He's keeping the Blues in this one. They could easily be 2-0 down.
Another goal at Oakwell... Barnsley have tied it up against Brum... le Tis is smiling
Lovely. That's more like it lads.
I have been taking trips down Memory Lane the last few days. I have been watching some very funny stuff from Morcambe and Wise. Great stuff
What song did they sing?
"Bring me sunshine...with your smile..."
GOAL... MATA WITH A PRECIOUS CHELSEA GOAL
GOAL! Mata scores a priceless one for the Blues!
Well done Robert
Terrible moment there in the center of the Napoli defense - the center back bobbled the ball up and Mata only had to run on to the free ball and knock it home.
1-0!
Brum back up by one
Now Mata looks hurt
There was a West End musical a few years back called "The Play What I Wrote" where a comic double act played the roles of Morcambe and Wise and then they had celebrities come on in the second half and act like idiots. It was Richard E. Grant the day my mum and I went. Loads of fun. And then they ended with the signature song and everyone had a bit of a singalong at the end.
Mata's struggling off now. He doesn't look as if he'll be able to continue.
Mata's back on now.
Make sure you sing along
Bring me sunshine
In your smile
Bring me laughter
All the while
In this world where we live
there should be more happiness
So much joy you can give
for each brand new bright tomorrow
Make me happy through the years
Never bring me
any tears
Let your arms be as warm
as the sun from up above
Bring me fun
Bring me sunshine
Bring me love
CLASSIC
I played a bit of five-a-side last not. Did fairly well but I was shagged within about half an hour. I am old!
That is a famous line of little Ernie
Luv it!
Well done.. I haven't played for a year now!
Yeah - "the play what I wrote...."
Ernie - "Who won the cup final in 1971?"
Eric - (sneezes loudly in a way that sounds like "ARRRsenal!")
Ernie - "Is the correct answer!"
Eric - "Thank you!"
Like to see Chelsea do well tonight and then lose at home to Bolton on Saturday!
David Luis should have doubled Chelsea's lead
Oh dear...1-1
nice finish
GOAL! Lavessi equalizes! And the crowd goes potty!
Lavessi waltzed past Mereiles and bent a lovely right-footed shot past Cech. Keeper had no chance this time.
1-1!
Boro two up at Millwall
Ramieres should have done better
Merse... classic... a chance from 18 yards and he kicks it out of the stadium!
Even a 2-1 defeat here would be serviceable for Chelski.
West Ham have taken the lead at Blackpool
Millwall have a goal back
I still can't believe Leeds have the amount of points they have!
With the amount points they have dropped at home
Lost at home to Brighton, Birmingham, Reading, Barnsley and Blackpool
Coming up on halftime - you'd have to say that AVB will be happy about the first half.
Lost to all the B's at ER!!!
We haven't really drawn many games - it's been either win or lose. I'll bet that of our 48 points, probably 42 of them have come from wins.
Good afternoon, BD and UWS. I see it is 1-1 , approaching halftime.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Our home form has been shocking this season. I suspect that we'll start drawing a lot more under Evil Neil.
It looks like Malouda is off with an injured hammy.
Hiya, MUR - how's the week treating you?
Afternoon MUR
Another goal at Bloomfield Road... to the Hammers... two nil
Oh dear... Napoli take the lead in injury time of half!
GOAL !!! 2-1 NAPOLI AS CAVANI HAS SCORED .
I think that is and OG
GOAL! Bloody hell - Cavani was allowed to run around the back and nod home easily past Cech. That was sloppy. Ball watching.
2-1 Napoli!
I agree - I reckon that Ivanovic touched it last.
What was Ivanovic thinking. That was terrible marking on his part.
Half time and Chelsea are behind
I am doing well, thank you very much. I am well rested from the three day weekend and have only thirteen more teaching dayds until Spring Break.
Not looking so clever for us this afternoon with all three top sides winning at present. I suppose that a Hammers win isn't that bad, as it does some damage to Blackpool. We're still four points off the playoffs with a game more played than Hull or Brighton.
Not that you're counting, eh MUR?
Halftime and Napoli have come from behind to lead Chelsea 2-1.
No I am not. It's just my lucky number :0}
I was thinking thast you would want a Hammers win at Blackpool. You would probably want a draw between Hull City adn Brighton.
Loving my winter break!
That is excellent. I was about to ask you about that.Did you have any special plans for Winter Break other than catching up on rest. I think you mentioned that you are still teaching the college classes this week.
UWS will be showing students his knockers tonight in a desperate attempt to get Mardi Gras beads. ;-}
All West Ham in the first half but they give away a goal late in the half
The second half is underway from Naples.
I would love to see that Mardi Gras celebration. Not sure the parents would approvr, but it would be great entertainmant.
Second half underway
I was watching this at half time!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZedhoqYdfTM&feature=related
If chelsea are elimintaed by Napoli then there will not be any EPL sides left in the CL.
I will have toi check that out after blowing up a house and wondering if I will ever play for Accrington Stanley. Who exactly is Accrington Stanley?
Juan Mata has a shot deflected for a corner.
A header from David Luiz off the corner was cleared off the line.
Cavanit shoots straight at Cech.
EXACTLY!!
Good boy for doing your homework
I blew up many houses!!
Now Malouda has a shot well saved by De Sanctis.
Thanks, UWS !I can't believe you are giving homework during your Winter Break!
I think it would be the first time since 1996 where no English team will be in the quarters!
United started the string when making the semis in 97 and lost to Bayer Lev.
Charlton are losing at home to Rochdale
I remember that year. I thought we lost to Borussia Dortmund, who had a certain Paul Lambert in their side. Was it 1-0 in both legs?
Napoli should have scored there!
My commentary is behind the picture
COME ON FSC!!
Nearly 3-1 as Cavani put Lavezzi thorugh and he shot just wide with just Cech to beat. Ivanovic was out of position again.
My bad... you're right!
I was over in England for the second leg!
Gary Cahill is booked for a late challenge in his first CL match.
Cheslea just need to stop Napoli scoring again and it would be a good result
I'm back from setting up my 4:30 class. No comment from UWS on my predictions for his Mardi Gras celebrations? Hmmmm....
Charlton tie it up
I think I saw highlights of the match.
NONE WHATSOEVER!!!
1-2 in all three Championship matches this evening.
The Neviller says that Chelsea are a better team than Napoli. Why didn't' they do so well against Citeh
Mata shot straight at De Sanctis off a long throw by Ivanovic that was headed on by Drogba.
LOL!
Great point, UWS. Chelsea haven't done enough to show that they are better than Napoli. Ther will need to be a great improvement.
Drogba almost in there
Welcome back, BD. I was hoping for a prediction too!
Oh - Drogs did really well there but just couldn't find the finishing touch.
Oh - and Cahill goes just wide with the header from the corner.
Gary Cahill heads wide from the corner after a great tackle on Drogba that led to the corner.
Merse thinks Chelsea could win by a boatload at the Bridge
Sound still behind the picture!
I hope he's right , but I am not so sure.
I can't quite see that but I do think a 2-1 result is decent for them. It would take the pressure off AVB for sure. Chelski could easily be the only English side left in the quarters at this rate. Not good for the English slots in the CL.
Magano shoots straight at Cech off a short corner initially won by Lavezzi.
THREE ONE.... OH DEAR!
David Luis makes a major ticket... according to Merse
GOAL! Lavezzi makes it 3-1.
Terrible defending.. clinical finish
West Ham down to ten men.. Rob Green is off
What was David Luiz playing at there! He completely bollixed that up when he should have put it in the stands. Lavezzi capitalized and finished with aplomb.
3-1!
Graham Sharp doesn't think there is a keeper on the bench... WHY NOT FAT SAM????
BLOODY HELL!!! 3-1 NAPOLI AS LAVEZZI SCORES AND CECH LOOKLED LIKE A BLOODY CLOWN!WHAT WAS DAVID LUIOZ THINIKING ASCAVANI CONTROLLED A LONG PASS AND PASSED FOR LAVEZZI TO TP INTO AN EMPTY NET!
A two nil win would still be enough at home
Ross Turnbull is the keeper on the Chelsea bench.
I am not sure if Chelsea will do that. They could really use another goal tonight.
No, West Ham don't have a keeper on the bench and Rob Green was just sent off
It is not out of the question though.. better position than the Arse
OOPS! You meant West Ham. I agree. Fat Sam didn't do his homework and that could cost the Hammers tonight.
Lamps and Essien coming on at the 70th minute mark here.
That is true. Arsed Arsene's Arsenal are basically out of this competition. No more cups for you, Arsene!
Malouda and Meireles off and Lamps and Essien on
Essien is on for Mireles and Lampard for Malouda.
Chelsea need a goal and Torres doesn't come off the bench and all the subs have now been used
Arsene's Cup is not exactly running over!
Would you put Fernando on? He can't score for toffee!
Walsall need a passport to get out of their own half but are still winning at Scunny
Walsall need a passport to get out of their own half but are still winning at Scunny
All four English clubs out before the quarters? It could happen! Not good.
I think that is because Torres is almost certain not to score if he comes on. We would be more likely to see a goal from Frankie.
He would be in a better position to score than Essien
Old Eric wouldn't be happy... Luton losing at Barrow
That is looking more and more likely.
Lavezzi goes off to a hero's ovation for his brace.
It is not really surprising. The best three english sides are home. Citeh and United knocked out and Spurs never in it... those three could win the damn thing!
Napoli take off one of their best players... why?
Blerim Dzemali is on for Lavezzi. Martin Tyler said that Dzemali had a short spell at Bolton. I don't remember that.
Non Keeper for the Hammers not tested yet
I can't really see any English side beating Barca, Real or Bayern this season.
They would have more of a shot than these two
I agree. Any of those sides are good enough to win the CL. I guess that works well for Chelsea that Lavezzi was subbed.
I agree. Any of those sides are good enough to win the CL. I guess that works well for Chelsea that Lavezzi was subbed.
Roman ususally sacks a mmanager at the end of the season.I guess history should repeat itself with AVB.
Dangerous free kick here for Napoli....
Pushing called on Cannavaro.
Dzemali was fouled and the free kick from Inler came to nothing as Napoli wre called for pushing.
Arsenal Reserves have beaten Norwich Reserves 5-0 away!
Chelsea ha da corner that was headed away, but the return cross from Mata was rashly cleared by the Napoli defense.
Crewe have scored against you know who
ACCRINGTON STANLEY... who are they.. EXACTLY!
Birmingham are up 3-1
off the line by Chelsea... that should have been four!!
One whiffed and then go either side of Cashley and it would all over
Nearly 4-1 as a shot from Maggio was cleared off the line by Cashley after Hamsik turned Ivanovic.Goran Pandev is on for Hamsik.
Perhaps those ARsenalreserves should be first teamers. Whom did Crewe score against . Never eard of em!
Perhaps those ARsenalreserves should be first teamers. Whom did Crewe score against . Never eard of em!
Goal at the Den... to Boro 1-3 there too
I guess West Ham should score soon too
Drogba wins a free kick off a long hopeful ball. This could be chance for Chelsea.
The free kick from Mata is headed away then Sturridge is offside on the return cross.
Pandev shoots high and wide off a great cross from Magaro.
A goal at Bloomfield Road.. I CALLED IT
Blackpool 1 West Ham 3
All three matches 1-3 in the Championship
It doesn't look like the best of matches tomorrow.
Breaking News
Here's a bit of news for you as we approach the full-time whistle in Naples. Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has apologised for his recent conduct following his touchline row with manager Roberto Mancini in September. The 28-year-old returned to the club last week, following a self-imposed, three-month exile in Argentina. "I wish to apologise sincerely and unreservedly to everybody I have let down and to whom my actions have caused offence," Tevez said in a statement. He has also withdrawn his appeal against the club's misconduct charge.
An interesting coincidence and they did it without a keeper .
I guess Tev realized that there was no other option. That was probably the reson for the apology.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Will anyone be around for Citeh vs Porto tomorrow?
A cross from Cashley is turned over by Drogba.
Lmapard has ashot fumbled by De Sanctis then he recovers to gather in time.
Decent hit by Lamps.. saved
I will be around for some of it. Have to take Shadow to the vet for shots at 4
Do they play tomorrow? Oh, I guess they would so both Manc clubs don't play on the same night
Ivanovic is booked for pulling back a player after he was beaten.
Game over in Italy
Not over... win 2-0 at home and they're through
Napoli defeat Chelsea 3-1.
I am off to the college
TTFN
I think Citeh vs Porto kicks off at Noon.I hope Shadow has a succcessful visit to the vet.My dog is not fond of vets visits.
I think Citeh vs Porto kicks off at Noon.I hope Shadow has a succcessful visit to the vet.My dog is not fond of vets visits.
Cheers UWS. Have fun at the College.
It is still 1-3 in all the Championship matches.
Birmingham won at Barnsley and Middlesbrough won at Millwall. Still fou minutes plus stoppage time remaining at Bloomfield Road.
Some final scores in League One :
Charlton 1 Rochdale 1
The Fake Dons 2 Bury 1
Scunny 0 Walsall 1
I cam back from the loo to discover that the Hammers scored a fourth in stoppage time from Rocardo Vaz Te. That ruins the 100 percent recod of 1-3 scores in the Championship as the Hammers won 1-4 at Bloomfield Road.
