Evil: Meet Evil.
Neil Warnock's Evil Leeds travel to meet Evil Millwall today. Tough call. I suppose what I'd really like is for some primordial chasm to open up inside the Den and swallow up the whole lot of them. Fortunately, we start the day at 8:45am EST with Chelski v. Spurs, which should have some actual football on display. Join me for the evil action and some other nonsense otherwise.
387 Comments:
Morning, all. I'm here to enjoy what promises to be a fascinating encounter between two sides with uneven form. Chelski have come on recently but have underperformed for much of the season.
Spurs on the other hand, have plummeted in form since Fabio Capello's sacking and rampant speculation about an imminent Redknapp England promotion. Something's got to give.
Spurs go into the Bridge in that priceless 4th CL spot on 54 points and +18 GD. Chelski are desperate to catch them in 5th on 49 points at +15 GD.
The team news coming out of the Bridge:
Kick off: 12.45pm.
Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Essien, Lampard, Ramires, Mata, Sturridge, Drogba.
Subs: Turnbull, Luiz, Torres, Mikel, Malouda, Meireles, Kalou.
Tottenham Hotspur: Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, Gallas, Assou-Ekotto, Modric, Sandro, Parker, Bale, Van der Vaart, Adebayor.
Subs: Cudicini, Saha, Defoe, Kranjcar, Rose, Livermore, Nelsen.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire)
AVB is relying on the old guard once again with a side full of oldsters such as Terry, Essien, Lamps, and Drogba. The tricky thing for the Blues is going to be what to do this summer, especially if the old boys get Chelski into Europe and especially if they win a trophy. After all, Chelski, for all their poor league form, are still in the CL and in the FA Cup. If they end up winning something, the temptation is going to be to continue the Mourinho side and not to do a clean sweep.
I'm onto the ESPN2 coverage now with Ian Darke chewing his vowels alongside Macca.
Wahay - teams in the tunnel now.
Good morning BD. I am here to join you for about ten minutes before I leave for the coneference. I am at the Homewood Inn & Suites in Austin.
Gorgeous day in London - sunny and 65F.
A beautiful day in London. 65 and sunny!
Morning, MUR - good to have you on board albeit for a few moments. Enjoy it!
We're off from Stamford Bdridge.
And we're underway.
I sure will. I will try to chip in during breaks.
I am in the most scenic part of Texas.
I am in the most scenic part of Texas.
Great tackle by JT on Ade.
Chelski combined well there and Lamps was nearly in, cleaned up well by Parker.
I've always wanted to visit Austin. Enjoy!
It is time to leave.I will catch you later.Cheers BD.
Cheerio, mate!
Very cagey start to this match. Spurs, in truth, don't need a win - a point will do them nicely. Chelski will need to try to break them down.
Nothing going on yet - we're nearly half way into this first half without a shot fired in anger.
Ian refers to the opening as "The Phony War." Nice historical reference there, boyo!
This is Germany v. Austria all over again. I'm hoping for a African ref to blow for negativity here.
Just a glimmer of hope there - nice through ball to Mata but it zipped through to Brad.
Oh - Lamps got through there and was slightly bundled off the ball. Nothing doing from the ref.
Oh - Ade had a real chance there but his final ball was rotten.
Drogba needs treatment now.
Really poor stuff, here. Perhaps UWS is right that the Premiership just isn't as good as it used to be.
I am here
PATHETIC!
Don't know if it has been posted yet but here is a link for ss
http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/115021/1/watch-soccer-saturday.html
Even Ian and Macca have given up on this match. Nice - they're being honest. This has been pure shite.
Coming up on half-time.
Gordon Bennett... the passes are terrible
Cheers, mate. Welcome. I wish we had some actual footer to watch, though.
Where's the quality?
Are these guys professionals.. they should be able to pass the ball.. correct?
Neither keeper has had to do anything!
As Macca said earlier, the keepers could have gone for a cup of tea during the first half. Not a single shot on goal.
Finally... a save... great one!
How did Spurs not score!!!
Oh - just as we were about to give up, the most interesting moment of the half. Ade should have scored!
How's your week been, mate?
And that is the end of the half.
When MotD shows the highlights of that half... it will be the last second and that's it
I am off to shower and shave
Be back soon
We're back with Spurs about to get us underway. It couldn't be worse than the first half. ESPN2 must be kicking themselves.
I am back and missed nowt!
Spurs get a shot !
Off target... side netting
On target Spurs 2 Chelsea 0
Both Spurs shots were in the same play
Welcome back, mate. What did you think of my initial post? Evil Millwall v. Evil Leeds - how do you choose?
David Luiz is on for Bosingwa. Attacking move! (sigh)
An hour gone and I think that that VDV shot saved by Cech at the end of the first half is still the only one on target.
Ramires goes down under Assou-Ekotto's challenge and he's livid that he didn't get anything for it.
Sturridge meets the corner but his header is well off.
Just finished vacuuming and more ahead of me
No shots on goal... so bring on a right fullback!!!
I am not listening to your anti-Leeds talk
You're marching on together... no matter who is leading!!!
Now knock it off!!
Macca with a strong stance against orange boots.
So does SAF
Back to your chores, then, Mr. Mom.
Sandro picks up a yellow for a chop on Essien.
Will do
Blow up, ref. Put this one out of its misery!
It has been useless... that clearing header was the closest Chelsea have been!
THey better not go win this
Don't forget the dusting - I think you've missed a spot.
Who'd better not...?
Oh - Mata off the inside of the post from the free kick!
Oh dear - Torres is about to come on. We can all go back to sleep.
A couple of changes for Spurs as well. VDV off and Saha on. Sandro off and Livermore on.
Oh - Gallas should have scored there from the free kick!
Now it's Drogs who fluffs his lines. But more chances are starting to come.
Oh - brilliant save off the line by Cahill when it seemed that Ade must score!
Oh - now it's Bale off the bar! And Ade nodded over the rebound....again!
I am now dusting
Are you a Swiffer man?
Lampard is looking for his 150th goal. Who are the other four who have hit that mark?
Kalou on for the woeful Sturridge. He was rotten today.
Only a minute for Kalou to do anything.
Into stoppage time. If anything, Spurs have got what they've come for - a point.
One last free kick chance for Spurs...
Bale to strike it. Oh - good strike but pushed behind by Cech.
That's it - I wish that the FA could award nil points to both sides here. It really was that bad.
0-0 at the Bridge. ESPN2 suits are not pleased.
Useless game
Useless chelsea
Spurs didn't deserve much but they deserved more than the Blues
I am doing more house work. I have a lot to do today
I will be in and out with the computer. I will always have the match and SS on in the back ground
Now... I want to hear positive talk.. .Marching on Together!
No MOT today. Here's are the teams:
Millwall: Taylor, Robinson, Smith, Craig, Ward, Abdou, Wright, Henry, Keogh, Henderson, Kane. Subs: Forde, Lowry, Bouazza, Montgomery, Feeney.
United: Lonergan, Lees, Bruce, O'Dea, Robinson, Brown, Clayton, Snodgrass, McCormack, Webber, Becchio. Subs: Connolly, Forssell, Webber, Rogers, Thompson.
Referee: Lee Probert
Knock it off Dahlgren or you will be banned!!!!
If Arsenal lose today lose by two goals, they would fall behind Spurs. They both have 55 points and Arsenal are one goal up. If they lose by one , that would tie them up but Arsenal have scored more
Samuel Watts on Twitter: "Awesome display at the Reebok for Fabrice Muamba."
Lots of stoppage time at the Em.. after a flying elbow
Cambridge are losing at Alfreton
Losing the control of the TV now... just able to follow SS
Useless attempt by Albrighton!
I've got the Arsenal match on the box and SS on the laptop. I reckon Heskey got off lucky there.
Derby take the lead against Palace
Remember... you'll be banned... I have the power
LOYALTY THROUGH THE DARK
If I'm lucky Neil Warnock's Evil Leeds could end up in the bottom half of the table tonight.
Hull take the lead at Leicester
No goals yet in the first ten minutes. I'm goal starved!
SHUT IT... I WILL NOT ALLOW IT!
You do know there is no way Bates will can Warnock until they stink it up next year...
That doesn't help at all - I want big wins for Leicester and Palace to jump over W's EL.
I do think if we go on a losing run til the end of the season, Warnock would go in the summer. That's my firm belief and hope.
Never happen... it will be conceived that it wasn't his team and give him a fresh start for the new season.
Unless they go down... you don't want that to happen.
Support them the rest of the season... if they go up.. they'll get rid of him when they're struggling up in the Prem. If they don't go up, have them stink up the first part of next season and he will go
Bristol City take the lead at the Riverside
Now Bristol City have taken a 0-1 lead against Boro.
Goal at the Em... to the Arse... Gibbs!
GOAL! Oxlade Chamberlain!
1-0 Arse!
Sorry, it's Kieran Gibbs - a rare goal. A bit tragic for Shay Given who was beaten at the near post and under his body. Good ball from Gervinho to set him up.
Your old boss's new club take the lead against the league leaders.. Hud 1 Charl 0
There's no way for us to be relegated at this point on 54 points. Nor do we have a realistic chance of getting into the playoffs, let alone getting promotion. I reckon if we plod along, we'll end up in 10th or so on something like 60-65 points. That will be good enough for Bates to keep Warnock for at least the start of the season. If, however, we were to lose the last eight and end up with 54 points, we'd end up stuck in the bottom half something around 15th or so. That would pile the pressure on to bring someone new in over the summer, because he would have done worse than Grayson ever did. That's my hope.
I'm sick of these ads on First Row!
Ipswich take the lead at Vicarage Road
You're wrong.. no matter what happened.. unless there is relegation... he will be given a chance with 'his' team
Leicester are 2-1 up
That's better - two quick goals by the Foxes has them above us. W's EL are now down to 11th.
Two nil... Walcott... great pass by Song
GOAL! Theo! Arsenal are walking it!
2-0!
I don't know how Arsenal are doing this. They're the same side that was rubbish earlier on.
That's it.. you're banned for five minutes... don' t let me catch you on the blog until after 11:30... if you do... lunch detention
United outscored them 10-3 this season
Wolves take the lead at Carrow Road
Norwiich score right back!!
3 minutes of banned time... well done
Oh - Arteta with a ripper tipped over by Given.
Penalty for Wigan!!
Some bloke got kicked in the head
1-1 now between Norwich and Wolves. Jarvis and Holt with quick goals.
That's it... LUNCH DETENTION!
Burnley take the lead against West Ham
Goal at the Reebok... to Bolton.. Wheater
The guy that was kicked in the head for the pen is going off on a stretcher
Does that mean I get no lunch?!
Bolton lead! Winning for Fabrice!
1-0!
He's up again... it was Moses
Maloney to take the penalty....goal!!!
1-0 Wigan
Decent pen there
Wigan must have won the toss.. they forced Liverpool to attack the Kop in the first half
Is King Kenny in trouble?
Derby two up
Reading take the lead .. West Ham are in trouble!
Lots of shifting at the bottom now as Wigan and Bolton are winning and Wolves are drawing. Blackburn are right back in the mire.
Cambridge equalize at Alfretown
Hello BD and UWS. I am on a break after persevering I finally connected on a wireless network
Palace need to pull their fingers out!
Welcome back, MUR! You missed nowt with that early one. What a snoozefest!
Welcome MUR
I have banned BD for bad mouthing his beloved but he has ignored the ban. I gave him lunch detention but that didn't seem to be enough.. Afterschool detention is next
What match are you doing?
What if you assign him to DAEP, UWS?
I have Arsenal on FSC and Liverpool on Plus but I have no control of the TV
Bolton are two up!
Win one for Fabrice
Wheater with a brace
Good to know about Chelsea vs Spurs. Thanks ,UWS
DAEP?
Bolton are doing it for Fabrice - 2-0! Wheater with a brace!
DAEP - that sounds painful!
Reading two up against Blackpool
The ITV link has been blocked by the Round Rock Independent School District. I guess I can look up the scores.
Reading are 2-0 up over Blackpool. They're on fire!
West Ham are two down... get rid of Big Sam!!
Hire Warnock????
What are the Hammers playing at? They're 2-0 down at Turf Moor!
I don't want Fat Sam either!
DAEP is District ALternative Educational Program. In Texas, hard core trouble makes go to"an alternate location" specifically designed for those students. They are removed from the campus setting in cases such as this.
Ouch - I don't want any part of hanging out with those reprobates.
Who do you want?
Warnock is an idiot BUT he gets teams promoted to the Prem
Sheff Utd and QPR.. he also got Notts County up to the First Division way back when
It is time to go to another session. I will be back later. I have the scores from soccernet.Cheers lads.

[edit]
"The Man in the Mask" - Big Nik Bendtner has scored - QPR in real trouble now.
Sunderland are one up against QPR.. so much for an upswing for Rangers after midweek
Blackpool get a goal back at Reading
Accrington Stanley... who are they?... take the lead at Dagenham
Haven't heard anything from the Liberty Stadium... Swansea and Everton are playing?
I think I've been clear - I want Warnock sacked.
I was listening to a Leeds podcast and a fan called in to complain that he and his 12 year son were stuck sitting right behind where Warnock was patrolling the touchline. Apparently Warnock was screaming "Fooking run!" at Michael Brown throughout the match. That's the kind of tactical nous that he brings to the job. He's a dinosaur - it want him out!
Penalty at Carrow Road.. to the hosts.
Goal to Norwich.. Holt from the spot
Off to the store.. i'll be back
Holt has scored a brace now. Norwich 2-1 up. Wolves in the mire.
Goalless at the Liberty Stadium. Sounds like a bore.
I am back. Warnock is useful in the lower divisions, but can't hack it in the top division. He may get you promoted, but won keep you up.
OUCH HAMMERS! Not lloking good for them. A snoozefest at the Evil Den?
Bloody hell - Derby are 3-0 up now!
Liverpool have equalized... BD' GB Suarez
Big bottom of the table clash is scoreless
Coventry 0 Pompey 0
Cisse gets another RED... 2 in four games
Liverpool take the lead.. Suarez again
Blackburn score to get back in the game
I just noticed your comment at the beginning about AVB relying on the old guard... AVB?
Don't you mean R D M
Cambridge are now losing again
No.. Liverpool's goal was disallowed... still 1-1
Oops - sorry about that Roberto it is.
Doesn't matter. Suarez doesn't have a hope of catching RVP's 26 goals.
Bugger.. Coventry take the lead
Blackburn are back in it! 2-1!
Sheffield Wednesday are heading towards the automatic promotion places after taking a 1-0 lead against Leyton Orient.
Boro tie it up against Bristol C
Everton take the lead at Swansea
Alas, I reckon Pompey are for the drop. They're eight points from safety with 8 matches to go after today.
Not a big club.
I know.. I don't think they will survive but I hope they SURVIVE.. if you know what I mean
Boro are now holding Bristol - gossip, not score update, of course.
Reading extend their lead 3-1
Me too - I think they will survive as a club. But there are some dark days ahead for them before things get better.
Reading are the only one of the top three that are winning
Charlton are one nil down and one man down to Huddersfield
Take the last comment back... Sotton take the lead at home to Donny
Hello BD and UWS. I am checking on the latest updates. QPR llok fool, ish forsigning Cisse even though he scored against his former club.
Some fancy tricks from RVP.
WIGAN TAKE THE LEAD AGAIN!!!!
Not good enough - I want a spate of Millwall goals right about now.
May not be around till later due to a low battery.
Cool finish by Caldwell.. a center back... Dahlgrenish
YES... LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD
Ross McCormick
Well done Wigan!
MoT
Cheers, mate. I appreciate the shout-out.
I'm saving my MOT for next season when we'll have Guus Hiddink as the gaffer.
I have the Liverpool match on instead of Arsenal
Forest don't get a bounce from scoring 7.. they are losing at home to Brighton
YES... Millwall have a penalty save.. MoT
Andy Two Saints about to make an appearance at the Emirates.
Gervinho is clearly pro-orange boots.
Sunderland are two up... QPR are exactly where they want to be.. two down , late
Chris Harmer on Twitter: "King Kenny? Out."
QPR are 2-0 down at the Riverside now. They're all but down - terrible run of matches to come.
Bottom five as I type
Blackburn 28
Bolton 26
QPR 25
Wigan 25
Wolves 22
Watford have tied it up with Ipswich
Jeff is happy.. Hartlepool take the lead at Yeovil
West Ham a goal back at Turf Moor... 2-1
That was Ross McCormack's 17th goal of the season, btw. We'll likely lose him, Snoddy and perhaps Becchio in the summer.
West Ham are back in it! 2-1.
FSC have the Old Firm derby tomorrow morning.. wonder why they have all of a sudden started showing the SPL
West Ham have tied it up... two goals sharpish!
That was quick!
One-time Spurs striker Garth Crooks on Final Score:
"Wigan are just bossing this game. They're the bottom team, playing at Anfield, and they're just playing it around."
As SS are in Swansea... Everton double their lead
