Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The ESPN2 coverage has started with Ian and Macca at the Reebok.
ESPN2 playing a clip of a new documentary film about QPR's rise to the Premiership. Looks fantastic.
And we're underway here at the Reebok. Something's got to give today.
Good Morning BD.Bolton vs QPR just kicked off from the Reebok.Let the Loser's Bowl Begin.
QPR kick off in 16th on 20 points and -18 GD. Bolton are 19th on 22 points and a miserable -27 GD.
Morning, MUR! Welcome to the dogfight weekend.
The corner from Petrov was cleared and former Red Ball, Tim Ream looked liked a five year old trying to control that ball.
Djibril Cisse is competing for the ridiculous barnet of the weekend with a number straight out of The Road Warrior.
Are you on Spring Break too?
I think he wore that back in his Scouse days. Lots of bad hair days for the angry one!
Bolton's best chance of victory as to give the ball to 19 year old Japanese loanee, Miachi. He can give defenses fits.
It's helter skelter, but all Bolton early doors.
This is already settling in to be far from a classic. Real blood and thunder English footie to come.
Evil Qpr hacked Miachi.
Yes, indeed. Happy Spring Break to you!
A pathetic free kick after all that hard work from Miachi.
Same to you. Are you in Gainesville?
With Oxlade Chamberlain doing well, Miyachi can't have much of a future at the Emirates. Arsene seems to like to buy Asian players for the shirt sales but he never plays them.
NGog's shot turned out to be a pass to Petrov and Petrov crossed to who knows where?
Miachi seems to be good enough to play in the EPL , IMHO, if he doesn't make it at Arsenal. But for the Ox he would be starting for the Gunners.Definitely the best player in this match.
As UWS would say, where's the quality? Of course, he's likely tucked up in bed watching this one. Lazy sod!
Bloody Norah. Cisse went to Wal-Mart and painted that Mohawk with a paint roller.
Miachi wins a corner.
Booby Zamora clears off the line as Wheater headed Miachi's corner. The next corner was cleared.
Oh - QPR nearly punked Bolton there on the break. Nice one on Cisse. His barnet is a shocker!
Barton had shot deflected for a corner off of Mark Davies as QPR broke after being under constant pressure.
The corner from Barton was cleared after he took forever top take the corner.
Cheers BD. I bet UWS knew this match would be a stinker.I have seen more quality from the NPower Championship.
Oh - Zamora has one that grazes the underside of the crossbar!
Speaking of the NPower Championship, Coventry and Brum are locked at 0-0. The Sky Blues desperately need points today, and I'd love to see it.
Oh - off the Sunday roast and bar now! QPR are definitely knocking on the door.
Hey Boys
I have been watching this upstairs a little
As I join the blog, it's Germany England all over again!
Well over the line!
I am back from the kitchen and can't believe what I saw . It looked like QPR were denied a goal as the header from Clint Hill was over the Line before Bogdan pushed it out.
Good morning UWS. I thought this one would put you to sleep.I was in the kitchen , but saw the tail end of the replay, so I wasn't just imagining things.
SWP was a ball hog that time and gifted possession.
That Bolton corner is so poor that it immediately turns into a QPR attack.
How could the linesman not see that!!!
Welcome, UWS! More grist for the goal-line technology debate, eh?
Shocking cross by Steinsson. That sums up this dreadful match.
How about the linesman using technology called HIS EYES!!
Well, I suppose that would work too.
Pratley has a decent effort deflected for a corner.
Agreed UWS.I heard they have cutting edge technology called eye glasses and contact lenses.! STATE OF THE ART!
When did ESPN-2 start showing League One matches?
Yeah, goal line technology.
Morning everyone.
Morning, Someone. Welcome!
Good Morning Someone. Perfectly stated!
Lupe Fiasco is headlining FredFest this year - any interest? I'm going to try to get an undergraduate to smuggle me in.
Does the linesman need a telescope to see that one?
Time for a halftime report.
Coventry 0 Birmingham City 0
For get about using Hawkeye... use Humaneye
WHERE'S THE BLOODY QUALITY?
I'd prefer a Sky Blues win in that one.
BOOM BOOM, UWS!
I think UWS would prefer a royal blue win.
You'll be searching for a while for quality with this one. I do think QPR are marginally better and probably just good enough to stay up this season.
Nice one, UWS!
NGog went down far too easily to get a penalty.
I saw Boro and Leeds are on tape delay tomorrow on FSC + at 2 pm... so there has to be a link for them in the morning
I agree, BD and they would be up , but for the linesman. I heard that they are playing a JOBoxers song on the PA at halftime called JUST GOT LUCKY!
Bolton take the lead... that won't please Hughsie!!!
Prattley with the goal
Absolutely - I'll be up early looking for a link for that one. I will be making a controversial statement about that match.
GOAL !!! 1-0 BOLTON AS PRATLEY HEADS BOLTON INTO A PRICELESS LEAD FROM A GREAT CROSS BY PETROV.
That goal is not going to sit well with QPR if it holds. Hughes better keep cool around the officials.
GOAL! Pratley scores from Ream's cross! Priceless!
1-0 Bolton!
SWP with a chance and hits it well over... whatever happened to him!!!
It will be an early match in reality as we have the time change tonight.
SPRING FORWARD LADS!
For Bolton, that was their version of a Barcelona goal.
Speaking of which - did you see that Barca performance against Leverkusen? Crikey!
I will look forward to your statement about the match, BD.
"i didn't see it"
Bless him!
Ouch - I hate Spring Forward. My contention is that we should just keep Falling Back each weekend.
I didn't , but a coworker said it was out of this world. That they were absolutely brilliant.
Agreed, BD. So we have been robbed of one week of our vacation.
Is your tv pausing once in a while?
The bottom of the table reads like this
Bolton 23
QPR 22
Blackburn 22
Woves 22
Wigan 20
BLIMEY THAT IS CLOSE!
Messi must have been brilliant if he scored five and the other two were from a fellow Argie as that was a real headache for Bayer Aspirin Lever.
That Blackburn vs Wolves match will be really important too, later today
JUST GOT LUCKY!!!
QPR's remaining schedule
Lverpool, Arsenal and Spurs at home
Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City away
The linesman certainly is the villain of the day so far. I'm surprised that Sparky isn't making more of a big deal about it.
So MLS is back today?
Rubbish, there was no one in his way... it was past the big white thing!!
Cor, that it is a tough schedule. I can't see them surviving if that's the case. Not many points there. They might finish under 30 points.
An evil schedule for QPR. Did Sparky say you and me in the alley after the match?
Arsenal Newcastle on the Deuce on Monday
Liverpool and Evert on the Deuce on Tuesday
Two minutes of stoppage time. I agree. It looks evil for QPR.
I will be around for those.
Me too
That's right, you have the week off... congrats!
I get the week off from college!
Half time... is Hughsie going to attack the linesman??
Halftime and it's tied up 1-1 at The Reebok.
Wow - you're right. That seems really early. The Revs are away to San Jose this evening. Might have a look at that.
Tomorrow's FC Dallas v. Red Balls is scheduled for "NBC Sports." Wow! 3pm.
Boos from the Bolton fans. Oh yeah it's 1-0 Bolton because the linesman didn't see it.
Now, is it THE NBC Sports or NBC Sports Network?
Cheers UWS. I can finally get some rest. The second half has kicked off from Coventry.
Just looked it up
NBC Sports Network... it is channel 1873 here
Man City v Chelsea is on ESPN2 on March 21
How would they use technology?
Do they stand around waiting while the ref sticks his head under a tent like the NFL?
Did anyone find a link for SS?
Here it is
http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/112310/1/watch-soccer-saturday.html
Chelsea Stoke on FSC followed by Everton Spurs
Sunderland v Liverpool on PLUS
Just got back from a trip to the loo. will watch Citeh vs Chelsea from work on espn3 . com. Thanks for the link.
I don't see goal line technology being used as long as Sepp is in charge of FIFA.It would be interesting to see how it works.
THE FA have told SS that they are currently looking at two technologies for goals and it will be ready by July but needs to be okayed by FIFA
Big Nose makes the smartest comment he has ever made
How about having the fourth official with a TV to look at and tell the ref!!!!
THAT WOULD WORK!!
Today's EPL matches are the reverse of the opening day matches . Bolton won 0-4 at Loftus Road on opening day while Roberto's EPL debut will be the reverse of AVB's EPL debut. Will he reverse Chelsea's fortunes
?
I am off to the shower.
I'll be back squeaky clean
Agreed. Decent comment by Big Nose.
Cheers. I am looking forward to hearing from sparkling shiny, clean UWS.
The second half kicks off from the Reebok. Boos for the linesman as he comes out of the tunnel.I love it . He checks the netting and gets stick from Paddy Kenny.Priceless as the second half is now underway.
Still 0-0 at Coventry.
We're back on at the Reebok. I had no idea there was an NBC Sports Channel. Well, I never!
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS PAINT BOY SCORES WITH A GREAT FINISH PAST BOGDAN AS HE WAS PUT THROUGH
GAME ON!
GOAL! That levels it up. Cisse finishes neatly but in an offside position. More blind officiating from the linesmen. But at least it's level now.
1-1!
We could really use a Coventry goal right about now - and they could too!
iAN SAYS cISSE WAS OFFSIDE WHICH HE MAY HAVE BEEN BY ABOUT TWO INCHES, BUT THE THROUGH BALL FROM SWP CAE off a Bolton defender so that would not make him offside since the ball was played by a defender.
The linesman appeared to have levelled it up , but was it really offside if it came off a defender. The rules say that if the defender plays the ball then the attacker is not offside.
Either way a deserved equalizer for QPR as the score is linesman 1 lines man 1 as per Monty Python.
The replay shows that the offside decision was borderline . I say that Paint Boy deserves the goal.
Paint Boy has been the danger man for QPR.
You could call this the battle of the Liverpool rejects - Ngog v. Cisse.
I say that his goal should stand.
I just looked at tomorrow's schedule. Man United vs West Brom is on FSC at the same time as Middlesbrough vs Leeds. Swansea vs Citeh is on tape delay late in the afternoon.
No guesses as to which match I'll be watching.
Everything good for Bolton is going through Martin Petrov.
I will be multitasking. watching Man Yoo on the telly on Leeds on the computer.
Ian says Tim Ream assisted on the Bolton goal, but I thought It was Martin Petrov.
It says Coventry 1 Birmingham 1. M<arlon King gave Birmingham the lead, but coventry must have tied it up almost immediately. It didn't list their scorer nor the time of their goal.
The good thing about this match is that both sides need to go for it in the last half hour - a draw doesn't really help either.
Odd from soccernet. It lists the score as 1-1 , but the match details suggests that Brum lead 0-1
I agree.A draw would open the door for Blckburn, Wolves, and Wigan
It's Gary McSheffrey in the 70th for Coventry and Marlon King in the 72nd for Brum. Two quick goals in that one. Fifteen minutes to play. I'd love to see another Coventry goal, even if it is from bloody Gary McSheffrey.
I believe the correct score is Coventry 0 Brum 1
Thanks, BD. They didn't show the goal from the Leeds old boy.
Football 365 has it at 1-1 with Coventry scoring first through McSheffrey in the 70th and King equalizing in the 72nd.
An extra long shower for UWS?
A shocking corner from Barton.
Suspiciously long shower from UWS.
Followed by Steinsson conceding an unnecessary corner by heading out.
Barton's corner is straight to Bogdan.
Trying not to think about why that could be???
Twitter boy Joey Barton has been very quiet today.
Time for a Man Yoo reject as Chris Eagles is on for Martin Petrov, a Citeh reject. The rejects reign supreme!
Perhaps a conjugal shower with the missus? ;-}
I have noticed that as Miachi has disappeared from the match, so has Bolton.
This is a match of rejects, for sure. Someone is right - this is Championship quality, or perhaps L1.
Free kick oppo now for Eagles.
A stupid foul by Shaun Derry just outside the box. Not good for the citrus boys.
Straight into the wall. Why not?
Eagles is unable to Bend it like Becks there. Off the wall.
UWS catching lots of stick this morning!
Clint Hill heads out for a Bolton corner.
I think Becks was getting the boot in the eye when Eagles was trying to learn how to bend those free kicks.
That's what happens when you pop off the blog - you're fair game!
Jordan Mutch has been sent off for Brum in stoppage time as it is still 1-1.
Now it's QPR with a free kick chance on the edge of the box - probably too close.
Who said he was playing doubles????
Come on, the Sky Blues!
Straight into the wall by Zamora to continue the pattern
I am surprised that Bobby Zamora has had such a quiet match today.
Hey Boys
I am back. I did see the goal upstairs
BREAKING TEAM NEWSChelsea v Stoke (1500 GMT)
John Terry starts for Chelsea for the first time since January, with Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba reinstated to the starting eleven. David Luiz, Juan Mata and Fernando Torres are on the bench.
Cisse hooked an effort wide when he should have done better.
Crikey, that was a long shower, UWS. Were you playing doubles with the missus in there? If so, Rush Limbaugh needs you to post the video evidence on YouTube. ;=}
welcome back , UWS. It sounds like Roberto is trying to please the rebels.
GORDON BENNETT!!!
What a mad scramble in the box!!
UWS is ignoring me, but I bet he's blushing.
QPR could have scored , but for two blocked shots. Ivan Klasnic was on for Pratley, the goal scorer while Armand Traore , an Arsenal reject, came on for Tai Taiwo.
SHHHHH!!!Don't tell Rush!
It has finished 1-1 at Coventry.
Boy... I took a lot of stick when I was gone.
Had nice sit not the bog reading my Man Utd History book(TMI), a shave, a shower and made the bed!!!
By the way, make sure to wish WHR a happy 48th today. I posted a thread last night - it's right underneath this one.
Duiakite has been booked for a cynical foul on Miachi and Wheater heads over a great free kick from Miachi. wheater should have done better.
A likely story. Rush won't be pleased. He doesn't want to see the vid of you on the bog, regardless of the reading matter.
I sure will. I missed it as I went to bed early after a night out with the wife and kids.
I agree. Plenty of name calling would be involved.
Read about the Championship winning season of 1964-65... they beat the "dirty" Leeds side with two games to spare with a 3-1 win against Arsenal
Shame. Coventry and Brum have ended at 1-1. It leaves Brum in 5th.
Goal... Klasnic with a goal with 5 minutes to go
GOAL! Klasnic - their sub and leading scorer - scores what looks to be a winner!
2-1!
GOAL !!! 2-1 BOLTON. GREAT FINISH BY KLASNIC AND A SUPERB THROUGH BALL FROM MIACI.
Pompey are SIX points from safety!!!
Bolton leapfrogs QPR again with that goal, hopping up to 16th on 23 pts. QPR drop to 17th on 22 alongside Blackburn and Wolves who are up next. Whew!
Miachi has shown more quality today than the remaining twenty one players plus subs combined!
Miachi is definitely. the MOTM today.
Great reading from UWS. I once read a book called " There's Only One United."
Every side was "dirty" in 1964-5. What do you call Nobby Stiles?
If QPR lose then they could blame the linesman, but they haven't really done enough to win this one.
For bog reading, I prefer "How to Put Your Budgie Down."
Great defending from Eagles.
LINE-UPSSunderland v Liverpool (1500 GMT)

Love to see a Black Cats win here
More scrambly action in the Bolton box. They're doing it the hard way.
Four minutes of stoppage time from the Reebok.
I did comment to birthday boy as well as your strange woman in ponds post
It was definitely a different game back in the 60s. Nobby was classic!
Nice one, UWS - cheers!
Unfortunately , I don't get the plus, so I am stuck with Chelsea vs Stoke.
It looks like curtains for QPR!
Is it blog on the bog???
That was a handball and a foul
A late free kick for the Citrus boys.
Oh - Bogdan spilled that one!
Bogdan dropped a routine free kick, but Bolton cleared.
Miachi was heads and shoulders above the rest.
Last chance saloon...straight out.. PATHETIC!
Sparky will have a lot to say after this one
