Some Early Sunday Morning Footer
We have three EPL matches on the menu starting bright and early at 7 AM as Newcastle hosts Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear Derby. The hosts will want to win to help their chances of qualifying for Europe next season. Next is Fulham vs Wolves as the visitors will want to get something out of this match to escape from the drop zone. The final and most important of the three EPL matches is third place Spurs vs second place Manchester United as United need victory to stay in the title race. There is even an N Power Championship match as Evil Cardiff hosts West Ham United. Come join us for some great footer bright and early.

The teams are coming out of the tunnel and just to let you know I have a delightful link , which is
www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/111526/2/watch-newcastle-united-vs-sunderland.html.
Morning, MUR! Thanks for getting us started this morning.
The match kicks from SJP with that horrible duo of Steve Banyard and David Pleat commentating.
My pleasure. Good morning BD. How are you this early Sunday morning
Lee Cattermole is booked in the first minute for a foul on his opposite number, Tiote. That's his tenth booking of the season, so he is suspended for the next two matches
I'm doing fine. It's morning seven without coffee under doctors orders for me with no real effects. I"m delighted.
David Santon is fouled by Seb Larsson as he runs down the left and the free kick from Ryann Taylor is headed out for a corner.
Great to hear that you'll be joining us for the LOB reunion this summer. Can't wait!
I am sorry to hear that. what is ailing you? Is everything okay? I don't think I could do that.
I'm onto your link - thanks for that.
Yes. I booked my tickets last night, so it is official. I can't wait either.
My pleasure, but you have to listen to Pleat
I've had a recent issue with an occasional racing heartbeat, which at my age is fairly alarming as you can imagine. I've done the usual stress tests and there's no problem with my heart. My doc thought it might be my caffeine consumption. He seems to be right on the money. No racing heartbeat this week, no tiredness, no headaches. Now that I've isolated that, I can probably ease a bit of coffee back into my diet eventually.
Not a problem, but I really hope he's had a cold shower before the match. I know he's got a thing for Lee Cattermole's surging thighs.
Glad to hear the doctor was spot on and pleased to hear you doing better. Here's wishing you many years of great health.
Fantastic! At the very least, we'll be able to get the Gooner, WHR, you and me, with the possibility of roping in Phil Milton who lives locally and UWS if his school schedule works favorably.
What about wet conditions and slippery ball. That's his favorite.
I am looking forward to it. We need to convince UWS to come. He is one of the pillars of LOB.I think he gets out that Friday.
Newcastle would need a 16-0 win today in order to pip Chelski for 5th - a tall order.
I hope so. Even if he has to return for a day or two the following week, I'm hoping he can make the trip for the weekend.
Pleat told Cabaye to " stay on your feet young man." Does he want to do the tango?
I second that.He mentioned a concern about the expense. I am willing to help him with that in order to get him to the reunion.
I am flying on American Airline from Harlingen to Dallas to National. I originally planned to fly Continental. I would have flown into two airports named after two of my least favorite presidents if that had been the case. They were R.R. and his V.P.
FIGHT !FIGHT!It started with James McLean
Yes - he's tired of Cabaye stepping on his tootsies.
Handbags now. Yellow cards all round. A lot of cards early doors here - I wouldn't be surprised to see a player go off today.
Yes - I can't stand to refer to "National Airport" as "Reagan."
It was between Danny Simpson and James McLean before all the outfield players were involved. Both players were booked as both mangers were about to get started too. WE HAVE A DERBY!
The main airport in Houston is Intercontinental, but is named after "Bush." what If I had booked on Continental , connected in Houston and flown into National.
Now it's Ba into the book. This is getting crazy.
"Bush" is one of my least favorite airports in the country.
Another booking as Demba Cisse challenged Gardener from behind. from behind.
Blimey! The ref's given a penalty for holding on Williamson. The defender gets a yellow and Sunderland have a chance here!
PENALTY!!!! Stupid by Williamson as he grabbed Michael Turner's shirt.
Nik Bendtner - aka The Phantom - sticks the penalty away well.
0-1 Sunderland - Black Cats fans going potty behind the goal!
GOAL !!! 0-1 AS BIG NIK PUTS THE PENALTY IN THE CORNER . SUNDERLAND TAKE THE LEAD.
Pardew is upset, but it was really stupid by Williamson . what was he thinking?
I don't think Pardew can have any complaints - there should be more penalties given for those things.
I agree. A fair punishment would be to fly from Houston to National and mention the two Presidents that the airports are named after.
I just got a pop up for "Young Asian girls living near Dunkirk." Now - I know that's a hoax.
The Gooner had a clever idea a few years ago when all of this mania for naming things after Reagan took hold. He suggested that we start naming really nasty things after the former President, e.g., The Ronald Reagan Memorial Hazardous Waste Site.
It must be.I am not sure why they do that.
Not a lot of football going on here. Lots of kicking.
Nasty by Bardsley on Jonas.
Now Jonas and Larsson are unhappy with one another - this is getting ridiculous!
I agree with Gooner.I was visiting in the Orlando and had to wait for a train and the intersecting street was Ronald Reagan Blvd.
Bendtner strikes it well and Krul has to save down low to his right. An actual bit of football!
Big Nik tests Krul who fails to hold his effort , but gathers at the second attempt. Then Newcastle immediately win a corner.
I'm not surprised - lots of Republicans in Orange County.
Ba heads well wide off the short corner.
It was in Seminole County which has even more Republicans.
Yes - indeed.
They showed the replay of the penalty incident. A useless free kick and Michael Turner was going nowhere. These are the things that makes managers go absolutely potty.
You will be proud of me. The advisement session at work was from 10-12 yesterday morning. However, there were more parents than expected, so it was going strong at 12. However, I left my table at 12 and headed home to join you for the Leeds match. I told the other teachers that I was told to stay till noon and that the department chair is technically supposed to go even though most departments rotate teachers.
Evil Cardiff vs the Hammers kicks off in about five minutes.
COME ON YOU HAMMERS!
Mignolet beats away a header from Collocini off a corner. His first save of the match.
Now Cabaye is down injured.
It seemed a fair challenge from Seb Larsson.
Good on you, mate. I wish you could have brought us a late goal. We really did dominate that match. But I suppose we've used up our quota of last minute heroics this season. In all honesty, our season is over. We'll clinch safety in the next week and we're already out of both cups.
More complaints from Alan Pardew as Peter Beardsley does not look too pleased.
You have a slim chance, but it is looking tough. You have an important match vs Hull City on Tuesday. That will go a long way toward answering that question.
Evil Cardiff vs west Ham should be kicking off.
Cabaye has a shot blocked for a corner.
Ryan Taylor has a shot deflected for another corner.
Off the bar from Ba! You could hear that from here!
OH!Demba BA heads on to the bar off the corner, then Collocini controls with his chest and volleys over.
Morning Boys
I am here.
I was going to miss this because of Jon having flag football but Kathy took him. I saw the penalty incident as they were getting ready.
It was a definite penalty but it happens all the time! I think refs should start calling it all the time and maybe it will stop!
Good morning UWS. I agree with you completely.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Ba went down rather easily in the box. Never a penalty.Newcastle have a free kick just outside the box.
Useless free kick from Ryan Taylor.
Halftime and Sunderland win 0-1 at SJP.
Halftime and Sunderland win 0-1 at SJP.
I meant lead 0-1, not win.
Cardiff and West Ham have started in the principality
Again, TWC still haven't taken away my FSC+ !
It is annoying that I haven't the HD version but I am not going to call and complain
Morning, UWS! Great to have you on board. How's your weekend been?
Still no score seventeen minutes into that match in the Welsh capital.
Morning.
Weekend has been busy as ever. Jon had a game on Friday and they won 5-1. Jon scored a great left footed shot
As for yesterday, I actually posted on yesterday's blog. Matt's team won 9-0. He scored a hat-trick. His first two were upper 90 jobs and the his third was a intelligent toe poke
Those are my boys!!
FSC+ have no studio guys. They just keep showing old goals from former seasons in between commercials
Ben Arfa will come on for Ryan Taylor as the second half is about to kick off.
Second half underway at SJP
Newcastle kicking off the second half now.
Chips off the old block, eh UWS?
What a strange corner!
United used to do that corner on to Scholes foot but he was never that deep!
The second half kicks off from SJP. Newcastle immediately win a corner.Ryan Taylor takes a weird one that Cabaye volleys from long range . The effort is blocked and Demba Ba heads wide.
Absolutely... Tom too
They said Ryan Taylor was replaced, but he took the corner.
I think they said that Taylor moved to the back
Due to the early action I never got I chance to congratulate , UWS. Well done to all your boys. Great job, UWS.Definitely a chip off the old block.
Ta very much
Then I wonder who came off. Ryan Taylor can definitely play as a right or left back.
Still 0-0 in the Welsh capital.
The Beeb says
Newcastle made a change at the break by the way, as Hatem Ben Arfa came on for Davide Santon.
Those crazy fans are bare chested in these conditions.
I'd like to see a Hammers win today.
Bloody hell - seven yellow cards already!
That would make sense. Now Gardener is booked for a foul on Collocini.
I'm doing double duty with my political shows on the telly and this match on the laptop now.
Did you see the short video of the bbc reporter with Robeto Mancini... he calls him Mario Balotelli.... quite funny
Correct. Those cards are adding up. Would love to see the Hammers win too.
We've lost Bob to politics this morning Dave!!
I missed that , but it sounds quite amusing . Roberto may not see the funny side.
BLOODY HELL! Footer first. ALWAYS!
If you go to the live football page on the BBC, all the interviews are on the top of the page
RVP says his form is INSANE!
Good boy
I agree with RVP. I will need t read those article. Ta very much for the link.
No - I'm still here - I can multitask. But, come on, lads. It's Super Tuesday this week!
Cheers, UWS.
United have not lost to Spurs in a decade!! Long may it continue!
Good point, BD. I think that issue has been pretty much decided. It just a matter of being clinched. We will permit multitasking. As I type Krul makes a great foot save from McLean.
Just last night, I was being told by my brother-in-law that psychologist say that humans CANNOT multitask!
We can only do ONE THING well at a time
A RED CARD
Tiote was well mullered there. Someone's got to go off for that one.
I sure hope so. United desperately need to win to entertain any hopes of winning the EPL title and as I type Sessignon has been issued a straight red.Tiote is down injured.
There was acting there but he shouldn't have swung his arm back
Mike Dean has been a busy chap today.
Yes - I called that one early on. It's Sessi-bitesyerlegs making the walk of shame back for an early bath.
Sunderland down to ten men.
I have been watching old videos and the game was better back then when you could actually tackle!
I can't stand Tiote's acting... he should be banned for that!
I agree with UWS. He swung his arm but Tiote made a meal of it. He's a nasty sort. Wouldn't mind seeing him sent off and all.
Sessignon swung his arm at Tiote. Definitely a red card. It was terrible that Tiote fell down like that. Disgraceful from Tiote, but Mike dean was absolutely correct. He has had a good match under difficult circumstances.
I would love to see Tiote sent off too. A nasty sort.
Now Bardsley is down, holding his head.
Pompey have loaned out their captain Liam Lawrence to Cardiff until the end of the season... that must be so they don't have to pay him... how did Pompey get in this position?? Why can't they find a rich guy with MONEY!
Did you hear that their old owner is going to get the Prem Parachute payment personally. Pompey won't see any of it
Former Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra is on the bench for Fulham, while Wolves remain without striker Steven Fletcher.
Even if Tiote had stayed on his feet it should have been a red card. Stupid by Sessignon.
There's got to be some financial mismanagement in that. I don't know why people like that are able to stay in the game. Why hasn't Peter Ridsdale been turfed out?
I agree but the dive was disgusting
Are you talking about Mandaric? Thought is absolutely sickening and disgraceful. He got Pompey in that position in the first place. I ma saddened to hear about that.
If I was Pardew, I would call him out.
I think it is the managers responsibilty
It will be tough on Wolves as Fletcher is their only consistent scorer. At least the new gaffer is from the LUFC Academy.
No, it isn't Mandaric
It is some russian, I think
WEST HAM TAKE THE LEAD!
Ad Harkin on Twitter: "Elbow...1...2...3...4...5 and time to go down. Yes it was a red but disgraceful playacting."
Sure - Milan Mandaric is a perfect example. How does he show the FA "fitness" to run a club?
I agree. Disgraceful by Tiote and I agree that it is Pardew's responsibility to address that.
Kevin Nolan with the Hammers goal
Now Tiote is booked. About bloody time.
WELL DONE HAMMERS!
He was good for Pompey for a long time.
It is everyone else that has come in. They have had about 4 owners who have come in to be the club's savior and they don't have any money!!!
I think it is Gaydemek. He is loaded and out of decency should return the money to the club.
They don't care!!!
West Ham take their lead to the break
That is the truth. It is sickening.
Frazier Campbell, the England new boy and United old boy, is on for Big Nik.
Jack Colback is on for Seb Larsson.
Ben Arfa makes a great move but fails to cross
Good point by Pleat... beat one man... good... beat two men great... try and beat three men... silly boy
I like it
I did a Wikki and I was correct. It was Alexander Gaydamak, A French Jew, who has duel citizenship with Israel. He was deservedly blasted by Wikkipaedia for his failures at Pompey. I wish them a speedy recovery.
The thing with Pompey is when Harry was still there they had a news conference about a new stadium to be build right by the water's edge. AND NOW THIS
Tiote heads over from a corner taken by Ryan Taylor. It appeared to hit O'Shea on the chest instead of his arm.
Ben Arfa with a nice move and shot but I think he is a bit of a ball hog.... can anyone say DEFOE!!!
Good stuff from Ben Arfa but it's beaten away by the Sunderland keeper.
Great save by Mignolet from Ben Arfa after wriggling his way past two players
The Toon ask for another pen.. nothing
Ben Arfa goes down in the area now claiming a penalty. Far too soft. Ref was right.
I thought Ben Arfa went down easily after being a ball hog. Horrible acting. That will never win an Oscar!
Pleat said Ben Arfa was booked. It is deserved if he was booked.
Down to a little over ten minutes left in the match. This is a key match for Newcastle's ambitions.
This was the plan.... right next to the Spinnaker Tower
http://www.wayfaring.info/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/hmstadium1.jpg
I know that Arsenal and Chelsea will be hoping for a Sunderland win.
Pleat is making a lot of sense today... I hate to give him credit but...
FINALLY... a penalty
Another penalty!!! This time for Newcastle. And Martin O'Neill has to be restrained on the touchline!
PENALTY AS AMEOBI GOES DOWN IN THE BOX. IT LOOKED LIKE A PENALTY IN MY OPINION.THE REPLAY SHOWS IT WAS THE CORRECT DECISION.
RIDICULOUS CHALLENGE!
How can players be so stupid!
SAVED!!
The keeper was well off his line
Demba takes...and misses! Saved well by Mignolet!
That was a rubbish penalty, to be fair. Made it easy for Mignolet.
FROM THE BBC
BREAKING NEWS
Andre Villas-Boas has been sacked as Chelsea manager
It was a really rash challenge by Colback and he was booked for his troubles.
Now they are showing it on the teleprompter as assistant and former player,Roberto Di MAtteo is appointed first team coach until the end of the season.
A little over five minutes left now - can Newcastle scratch out an equalizer?
I don't understand as Martin has brought on Wayne Bridge as a sub.How is he going to help Sunderland ????
This would be a feather in Martin's cap.
Blazed over by Cabaye .
Peter Lovenkrands is on for Ryan Taylor.
Nasty by Tiote on McLean. That should have been a second yellow.
Five minutes of stoppage time to come!
Newcastle have only themselves to blame as they missed a penalty and were a player up a good part of the second half. They missed too many chances.
ONE ONE!!!
Ameobi with the goal
GOAL! Ameobi has leveled right at the death in stoppage time
1-1!
Again, I agree with Pleat... stop celebrating and go back and get the winner!
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS A DESPERATE CROSS ELUDED SEVERAL PLAYERS AND AMEOBI CONNECTED AT THE FAR POST.
Wayne Bridge was the culprit - you were right, UWS.
BD, no comment on AVB?
I agree with Pleat too and also agree with him that Bridge failed to mark Ameobi as he is the villain in this plot.
Soccernet stated that Chelsea were going to sack AVB this weekend and try to bring in Raffa Benitez. Instead, Di Matteo is in charge the rest of the season.
oooh, almost the winner there... SHOOT!!!
a last ditch tackle by Turner on Williamson prevents a late winner.
More scrambling... but cleared... free kick
That should be it
That's it - handshakes all round after a bad tempered affair with loads of booking. Fair result?
A scramble in the box is halted by a Newcastle foul. That's it as it finishes 1-1.I think Mike Dean was MOTM!
Off for a shower.
That soccernet article was a strange. It said that Rafa would come in until the end of the season and the Pep to come in... Rafa wouldn't stand for that!
I would bet Pep will be the next manager next season
I think it was a fair result as it was a tale of two penalties in this bad tempered affair.
Would Pep take a job where the owner meddles and interferes to this extent.
Bob will be clean but still no comment about AVB
My FSC + went off for a couple of commercials and went straight over to Craven Cottage
Lee Cattermole received a straight red at the final whistle. Really stupid as that will add to his two game suspension for that tenth yellow of the season that he received in the first minute. Martin will be furious.
I think it was something that Cattermole said. HOW STUPID!
I will have to go to a link as I do not get FSC+
The Hammers still have that one goal lead as the match has kicked off from Craven Cottage.
I have decided to switch to the match in Cardiff as we are midway through the second half as the Hammers lead 0-1.
Kevin Nolan concedes a silly free kick. Great chance for Cardiff.OH !! A great free kick from Whittingham came off the post with Green completely beaten.
