Leeds United v. Not a Big Club
Afternoon, chaps. I've over at the office cracking on with some research projects this afternoon. But don't think that that means that I've forgotten my beloved Leeds who travel to the notorious death trap Hillsborough to see off some not very big club in the bottom half of the Championship and heading back to League 1 where they belong. Join me from 2:45EST for all the action!

The team news is in for this afternoon's clash:
Leeds - Kenny, Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Austin, Becchio, White, Brown, Tonge, Diouf, Byram. Subs: Drury, Green, Varney, Ashdown, Norris, Gray, Hall.
Not a Big Club: Kirkland, Buxton, Liera, Gardner, Jones, Semedo, Corry, Barkley, Antonio, Bothroyd, O'Grady. Subs: Bywater, Taylor, Mayor, J. Johnson, Pecnik, Madine, Rodri.
I've got a lovely link up through Sky Sports UK:

We come into this local derby in 7th with 17 points out of 10 matches played with a GD of +2.
Not a big club on at the wrong end of the table, languishing in the relegation zone in 22nd with a mere 8 points from 10 matches and a pitiful GD of -7.
There's a special glint in Evil Neil's eyes tonight as he anticipates an away fixture against his old enemy. I hope the Leeds boys feel the same kind of passion.
Right, then - the teams are on the pitch and there's a real craic in the ground tonight. Come on, you Whites!
Not a big club's anthem "Heigh Ho Silver," which was blasting over the tannoy before kick-off has been quickly replaced by "MOT" as the away Leeds fans are making themselves heard.
All Leeds pressure in this tense opening period.
Not a Big Club's manager is Dave Jones - I wonder how many clubs he's taken into relegation. Too bad our resident LOB statto MUR isn't around this afternoon.
Decent cross from Antonio but Kenny collected the resulting header from O'Grady pretty easily.
Oh - good free kick there from Brown that Spitty just struggled to get onto to.
Sam Byram was nearly caught out there by a long diagonal. Something to watch; Antonio seems to have some quality. He'll need to tending to.
Oh - what a let-off! Jay Bothroyd unleashes a rocket that Kenny bobbles onto the crossbar. It comes right back into his hands. He's laughing about it but I thought it had gone in! Phew!
Oh - free header now for Antonio! What's going on in the Leeds backfour right now?
Not a big club seem to have settled the better of the two. Time for the mighty Leeds to pull our fingers out.
Spitty buys a corner for us - some relief. Rubbish shortish corner though. What a waste!
Good afternoon, BD. Sorry for being late. I was having problems with the copier at Not a Big School As I am running off Nine Weeks' Exams.
Spitty wins another great free kick chance here.
Loads of players surrounding the ball....
Tonge lines it up and.....
Kirkland saves well - great strike!
Afternoon, MUR! Great to have you on board.
Thanks, BD. Great to join you. Unfortunately the district tech cops have blocked our link.
BUGGER!I will go to the text reports.
Much better this past five minutes or so. We seem to have weathered that purple patch for Not a Big Club.
Sorry about that. Good match so far.
Some desperate defending there as Antonio raced through.
Thanks for the statto comment. As far as I know, the only cluib relegated under Dave Jones was Wolves and he won promotion with them the season before. Paul Sturrock and Harry got the Saints relegated.
Oh - big shout for a handball against Becchio. Looks stone cold but fortunately for us, the ref didn't see it. Wow!
Bit of the "Mano a dios" from our Argie star.
Well in with the Dave Jones info; somehow I remembered a poorer record for him.
Somehow Not a Big Club have got the momentum back. Corner to them.
He was with Evil Cardiff for a good while , but was sacked for failure to win promotion with a pretty loaded side by Championship standards, then won promotion with Not a Big Club last season.
Jay Bothroyd is playing with Not a Big Club after winning an England cap a couple of seasons ago. Followed Jones from the Welsh capital.
The link is blocked because it contains illegal gambling cintent. Your thoughts, BD?
Well, I have to admit that there are lots of nasty pop-ups on these links. I had a couple of lads over for the Jamaica v. US match back a few weeks ago and was embarrassed that pop ups for sites offering Russian brides kept interfering. They know me well, but I had to reassure them that I'm not looking for brides of any kind!
The Not a Big Club boo boys are having a field day with all of the former Blades connections on the Leeds side including Paddy Kenny and of course Evil Neil himself.
Oh - Tonge fizzed a great cross over and Becchio nearly got the head onto it.
Spitty is a real nuisance to defenders. He doesn't always carve out real chances but he's always picking up useful corners and free kicks for us. I'm starting to develop a grudging respect for the man.
O'Grady seems to have left the boot in there and he's down for the count.
Michael Brown seems to be okay to continue.
Add the loathesome Michael Brown to the list of ex Blades and it should have the feel of a local derby this evening.
According to the graphic, the small club has three shots on goal and Leeds only one. Not a lot of chances in the first half.
This match is getting a wee bit chippy now.
True - there hasn't been a lot of brilliant football on show but it's one hell of an atmosphere. Very tense.
Will you be around for the early one tomorrow?
Chris Kirkland keeping for the small club! He was a potential England squad member a few years ago.THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN!
I will definitely be around.I will look forward to the weekend action.
Bugger! Jay Bothroyd scores his first goal for Not a Big Club.
Looks like the small club is dominating at the end of the half.
It's a Stoke style goal from an Antonio long throw and Bothroyd beat Peltier to the header. Too easy.
1-0 Not a Big Club
Sorry to hear that, BD! The text has not updated that yet. Now it does.
It says it was a header from 6 yards out that was well placed in the corner.
My class is about to start, but I will try to chip in a little in the second half . CHEERS!
Cheerio, mate - enjoy your class!
Half-time - Not at all satisfactory so far. 1-0 Not a Big Club and we didn't really deserve much better than that. We must do better in the second half.
Not a big club get us underway in the second half.
Come on, you super Whites!
Spitty goes to ground too easily there and the ref waves on.
COME ON YOU WHITES!Hoping for better from the Whites in the second half.
Cheers, mate. Same pattern as first half. We're going to need a mistake to get back into this one. Our play just hasn't been fluid enough.
Just short of the hour mark now; definitely time for some changes. I suspect Luke Varney will be tossed on for Michael Brown. We don't really need two holding middies now that we're chasing the match.
I was surprised to see David Norris on for Rudy Austin, who has been yyour best player this season. That didn't make sense.
Oh - Bothroyd could have had his brace there. Bad miss for him. Phew!
I agree - but Austin did have a long trip back to England after representing Jamaica in mid-week in their winning effort in Antigua.
The two central defenders there combine for another chance for Not a Big Club.
We really need a win out of this one, against a dropzone side.
I am checking periodically as the students are working on their review for the Nine Weeks Exams and see that both sides have had several blocked shots.
Good point about Austin. Definitely a must win match, but Are you at the point where you will take a draw?
Luke Varney is on for the injured Lee Peltier.
Well, a win would be preferable at this point, for sure.
Their Spanish central defender Llera has been immense today. Not quite sure why their defense has been so leaky this season.
Twenty minutes plus stoppage time remaining for Leeds to score two without reply.
IT'S LEEDS TIME!
They mnust be up for this match. Time for Leeds to do the same.
Michael Brown has been playing on borrowed time all evening, and he's escaped a yellow once again.
And now Michael Brown has gone into the book - a catalog of fouls tonight.
At times, it seems like he's a liability for your side.
Down to about fifteen minutes left to dig this one out.
I agree - he's a Warnock favorite from their years at the Evil Blades but he does nothing more than destroy.
GOAL! What a beauty! Michael Tonge!!!!!!!!!
Another ex-Blade breaks Not a Big Club hearts there. Spitty linked up well with Aidy White who knocked a ball square to Tonge. It came to him awkwardly but he looped it up and struck it magnificently.
1-1!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
MICHAEL TONGE THE EX BLADE TIES IT UP FOR LEEDS THJANKS TO A GREAT PASS FROM AIDY WHITE..
Oh dear - there was a small pitch invasion that the stewards allowed to happen. And some idiot - presumably a Leeds fan - has come onto the pitch and assaulted Chris Kirkland. That is shocking! I hope they'll find that idiot and ban him for life.
Time for a Leeds winner!
The club will likely get a fine for that idiocy - and rightly so. We've improved our image as fans but that doesn't help at all.
That is horrible. I hope they ban him for life too.
Agreed, BD. Sorry to hear that.
Let's hope so, but that pitch invasion might take the wind out of our sails.
I hope not.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
All Leeds pressure now, mostly down this left side through Diouf. Becchio has been largely anonymous tonight but he does have the habit of scoring late winners.
Dave Jones throws Gary Madine on for Chris O'Grady. Also Danny Mayor coming on for Irishman Chris Cory.
Just a few minutes left in this one plus stoppage time.
It llooks like late pressure from Not a Big Club.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
Oh - another long throw nearly catches us out again. Kenny had to tip over.
Wow - five minutes of stoppage time to be played.
It seems like there's always a lot of stoppge time in Leeds matches, even when Simon was in charge,
Into the third minute of stoppage time and still 1-1.
A late chance here for a long throw for us. Come on!
Two minutes of stoppage time remaining
This looks to be winding down to a 1-1 draw; disappointing but given that we weren't in it apart from that wonder strike from Tonge, I can't really complain. It'll be 18 points from 11 matches earned. 32 to go until safety for another season. We'll likely still be top half after tomorrow's matches despite dropping two points.
Kenny will lump a late, late free kick into the danger area now...
Into the last minute of stoppage time.
No - interestingly he knocked it toward the corner flag, so clearly Evil Neil is happy with a point now.
It finishes 1-1 and as BD stated, disappointing, but decent considering it could have been a loss.
Time is up and the ref is still playing on with Not a Big Club attacking. And there is the final whistle. Rubbish performance from us after that long international break. Can't complain about the result.
1-1
Nice chatting with you this afternoon, mate. I'm off for a late afternoon swim before I head home.
I agree, BD. Sorry is wasn't a victory.
Enjoy the swim, mate. I look forward to chatting with you early tomorrow morning.
Sorry about the drop points BUT it's a point on the road
Oh dear...Leeds could be in trouble with the fan that attacked Kirkland!
