A Big Battle of Uniteds...and some other games
Join me for a slate of four games on this Sunday morning. Our first game on FSC is a ho-hum affair as Fulham visit St. Mary's. The middle matches are Liverpool vs Stoke and Spurs hosting Villa. The main course of the day is the visit of Manchester United to St. James' Park to play Newcastle United. Which United will win? I haven't a good feeling about this one.. hope the boys in red prove me wrong

I come back from the loo and I have missed a goal!
The Saints scored after 3 minutes.. great start!
Looks like they have lost their fullback.
Richardson is being taken off on a stretcher
Steve Claridge at St Mary's for BBC Radio 5 live
"This game, albeit very early in the season, is massive for Southampton psychologically. If they were to win this one they would have six points from seven games, including the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Man City.
"They did get beaten by Wigan, which was massively disappointing, but they beat Villa and won very well. If they can beat Fulham today then they will know they can pick up points against these sorts of clubs and they could be OK."
Why oh why aren't Fulham wearing their white kits???
IT DOESN'T CLASH WITH RED!
Most of this matches has been a Saint on the ground getting treatment. There should be a lot of added time in this half.
I see this is a link for Soccer Sunday.
It seems to be Sky Sports News right now
http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/145685/1/watch-gillitte-sports-sunday-.html
World 20 Twenty Final is bing played today
Australia beat England in the Women's Final
The men's final to follow between hosts Sri Lanka vs West Indies (good to see them being successful)
Nice move by the Saints which ends with Lambert hitting one just wide
Celtic lead Hearts 1-0 at half time
If they win, they will go top of the table above both Edinburgh teams
Good morning UWS. I have been around the entire match , but I had computer problems. Now I am good to go.
I saw the goal. Jose Fonte scored a header at the near post.
Rodriguez wins a corner off of Riether
I know the Dahlgren boys had a good time at a jazz concert last night but I had enjoyed a concert of my own
On Palladia, there were three 80s Rewind Festivals from England
Great to hear some of those songs again.. boy how some of them have changed!
Off the line.
Sotton have a shot saved off the line.
From the following corner, the ball is in the net but the whistle went for a foul on the keeper
Nearly aniother goal form a corner as Roether clears off the line from a corner bu LLallana. Another corner, but taken by Fox. The ball is in the back of the net, but a push is called on Scwarzer
Just lost my link
I was a homebody last night. Glad you had a great time at the concert
Morning MUR... didn't notice you had joined!
I was a homebody too... it was on the TV
I can now get a link because I downloaded about five different things to update this 2003 lappy.
I see. Was it a local concert? I was not aware of such a concert.
Just lost my link
I see that two EPL are in a hour. I will try the link at that time.I did a test after I downloaded livid and did an Aussie League match . I saw that Heskey is now playing down under.I watched the match for about two minutes
I put the link back on and it is now the match that is on the TV
The Dahlgrens must have done a lot of partying as they are the RVWs. Your thoughts?
I will wait till 10. I think Spurs vs Villa sounds like the better of the two matches.
They must still be groovin
Sotton are now all the way up to 14th with this goal
Probably so. You make it sound like Woodstock, LOL!
REAKING TEAM NEWS
Peter Crouch and Charlie Adam start for Stoke against their former club, Liverpool. The Potters are unchanged. Another former Reds player, Michael Owen, is not even on the bench. Word is he has a "minor injury".
Also, when I was on Bookface ,I listened to interview a Congressman. He did an excellent job. I watched a commercial that he made too.
RETIRE WEE MICKEY!!!
What are your thoughts on today's big match
As I said earlier, I don't have a good feeling about it.
After the international break, we host Stoke and then visit Chelsea and host Arsenal... not easy
Fulham gave the ball away and if Steven Davis had not crossed behind Lllana then surely it would have been 2-0 Vicars
No. The 80s rewind festival has been a big concert in England. Last night on the Palladia TV channel they had concerts from 2010, 2011 and 2012.
I actually thought Johnny Hates Jazz performed at one of them but it wasn't on the TV show
Agreed, UWS. We need to get something out of this match. The match at SJP was our worst performance of the season last season.I think we will do better than last week and expect a response to our defeat vs Spurs. Also we will need to do well vs Arsenal and Chelsea if we expect to have any chances of winning the Prem.
I have all these 80s songs in my head this morning.
Say Hello Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell is there right now!
I get a lot of channels, but not Palladia. Sounds like a great concert. Did you read that I listened to JDLC on Bookface?
I remember that one very well.
JDLC is a congressman?
Could you send me a link
He interviewed a Congressman. He is not one, himself.
I will try. I am not tech savy, but will give it my best effort. I will try to send the interview and the commercial.
Shame about Big Brad!!!
BREAKING TEAM NEWS
Liverpool revert back to the team who beat Norwich with Susu, Andrew Wisdon and Nuri Sahin coming back into the side.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris makes his Premier League debut for Tottenham meanign Brad Friedel's run of 320 consecutive top-flight games comes to an end.
Darren Bent is on the bench for Aston Villa despite scoring last weekend.
Oh.. thanks
Only four minutes... I thought it would be more
Four minutes if stoppage time. Most of that due to the injury
Aaron Hughes heads straight to Gaazainga, who has had little to do in the first half.
We follow everything here!
WOMEN'S SUPER LEAGUE
With the FA Women's Super League title already wrapped up by Arsenal last weekend, the Gunners will hope to complete an unbeaten season by avoiding defeat against second-placed Birmingham in the last round of fixtures, which have just kicked-off. A 10-goal swing is needed if third-placed Everton are to usurp Birmingham for the second Champions League place as the Toffees play Bristol. Liverpool will hope to avoid finishing bottom of the pile, but they need to beat Doncaster by two clear goals.
Sotton could manage to stay up if they can win their home matches.
Rodallega was through on goal after the defender misjudged the bounce and wins a corner off the keeper.Poor by Hoiveld.
Just to annoy our resident Blue Devil
Europe came from 10-6 behind on last day to win the Ryder Cup last weekend!
In the twelve single matches, Europe won 8 and halved 1 while the USA won only 3 and halved 1
A mass collapse from the Americans!
It ties the biggest comeback in Ryder Cup history. In 1999, the USA did the same to Europe... but on homes soil!
Gooner will be pleased. Would love to see Liverpool being relegated in both men's and women's play.
Half time
1-0 to Sotton
They are up to 16th above Pool as I type
Half time
1-0 to Sotton
They are up to 16th above Pool as I type
BRILLIANT UWS.BD SNOOZES SO HE LOSES.
Halftime and the Vicars lead the Cottagers 1-0.
I see that FOX are going to show the match from St. James' Park on tape delay after the NFL early game
I hope there are goals for the American public
Of course, no one will be watching while the Yank Footie is on
OMG... ESPN 2 are showing the World Twenty20 Final! It is on for 3 hours!
The cricket starts at 1 eastern... opposite Football
ESPN really will put anything on thinking nothing will beat the NFL
I think Sotton are actually up to 14th, but are above Liverpool.Didn't know about the Twenty 20
The cricket is not going to be live
It is about to start now
I hope it is exciting for the ESPN viewers
so will you watch cricket or footy?
England v San Marino live on FSC on Friday
I responded to your email about Cortland vs Fred Town. I am sure you and Kathy will be looking for Tom to exact revenge next year.
I think the Giants are on at 1 but I will definitely be watching both
I will be at work, so I will need to record it. I hope Woy lines up with more than one forward
You should be able to watch the Giants as the United match is live on FSC, or does that conflict with cricket?
We're off in the second half on the south coast
The second half is underway from St. Mary's as Martin Jol must have given the hairdryer treatment
Cricket and Giants are at the same time
Kathy just delivered me some cheddar cheese on toast
Lovely jubbley
LINE-UPS - Tottenham v Aston Villa
Tottenham: Lloris, Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen, Lennon, Dembele, Sandro, Bale, Defoe, Dempsey. Subs: Friedel, Huddlestone, Adebayor, Dawson, Sigurdsson, Falque, Townsend.
Aston Villa: Guzan, Bennett, Vlaar, Clark, Lowton, Holman, El Ahmadi, Delph, Albrighton, Benteke, Agbonlahor. Subs: Given, Bent, N'Zogbia, Westwood, Bannan, Weimann, Lichaj.
Referee: Neil Swarbrick (Lancashire)
Morgan Schneiderlin is deservedly booked for a poor tackle on Risse. An easy decision for Mr. Clattenburg
Not Elizabeth. she's sleeping just like the Dahlgrens. well done Kathy. She was in excellent form yesterday as I stated in response to your email
I like to add mustard when I have cheddar cheese on toast
Lambert with a chance with a volley but he hits it well over
Great move by the Vicars and Lambert finds row Z with a volley off a great cross from Schneiderlin
GET INVOLVED
Grant McLure on Twitter: "Poor from AVB to drop Friedel today. The guy's been immense for years and still is."
Greg Taylor on Twitter: "What's AVB supposed to do? Rotating two excellent keepers = good policy."
Richard Steele on Twitter: "The media are a joke. AVB is castigated firstly for not picking Lloris, and then again when he does pick him!"
Great possession by the Vicars then a horrible pass by Steven Davis
I agree with Grant McClure. He restated what I said about an hour ago.
I thought El Classico would have been on ESPN this afternoon. As I was checking, that is how I saw the cricket
The match starts at 1:50 eastern time... strange starting time
Celtic has beaten Hearts 1-0 are top
Celtic have defeated Hearts 1-0 and should be top of the pops as Motherwell vs Dundee United was postponed yesterday due to a power failure.
Looking at the table
Celtic did leapfrog Hearts' neighbor Hibs into first
Hearts are way down in 9th
I will be able to see the beginning of the cricket, but will have to take Melanie to orchestra practice after that.
Forgot about Hibs, who were almost relegated last season
1444:
If Southampton can hold their defensive nerve for the rest of this game they will end a long unwanted record. The Saints have conceded in each of their last 15 Premier League matches, since a 1-0 home win against Tottenham in March 2005!!!
Risse wins a Fulham corner on the break
Fox heads away the corner and Fulham have a free kick in a great position
OH! Off the post from Sidwell off the free kick. Now a great reflex save by Gazzaniga from Rodallega.
Lllana wins a free kick to end that spell of pressure from the Cottagers. The clean sheet is in jeopardy after that streak mentioned by UWS
Richard Chaplow is on for Jason Puncheon.
That clean sheet record goes all the way back to when Harry Redknapp had his short, disasterous spell in charge of the Vicars.
Yosida is booked for pulling down Kachaniclic.
OWN GOAL FOR THE SAINTS
THE CLEAN SHEET NEEDS TO WAIT LONGER
Definitely an OG by Jos Hooiveld... Riise's shot was going did
Sotton had just taken off Lambert before the goal... they need him now
The Windies have lost two wickets and only 14 runs in six overs!
THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO SLOGGING.. there are only 20 overs a piece in this form of cricket
I have both 10 o'clockers going on separate links... there's no room for all my windows!
My MAC is working well though
Arsenal ladies are losing to second place Brum in a bid for an undefeated season
Ball Hog Defoe has a weak shot easily saved by the only Yank keeper playing at WHL!
Bugger.. I lost my Liverpool link.. the bloke is changing channels on me
He's changed it to the Southampton match... doesn't this guy know I already have this match on the telly.. good.. he just changed it back
I had to take Jacquelyn for Bat Mitzvah lessons see that Fulham have tied it up. I guess that clean sheet will have to be some other time.
Alan Green at Sports Direct Arena for BBC Radio 5 live
"This should be a physical encounter. I fully expect Rooney to start with Van Persie, but how will the United midfield line up? Will it be narrow and will they sacrifice some width? I think they will have to. They cannot be overrun by Newcastle."
Pat Nevin at Sport Direct Arena for BBC Radio 5 live
"Sir Alex could select a cagey team to start, knowing he can bring on an attacking threat later on. If Newcastle have players unavailable then that is a problem. Fabricio Coloccini has been a big miss. We talked last year about their great strikers and they looked great in midfield, but take one or two out of that team and there's a big drop."
Headed over by Jay Rodgriguez off a cross from Lallana
I will pick Spurs vs Villa because two matches may be too much for this 2003 lappy to handle. A sis, it took almost two hours to download everything.
GOAL !!! 1-2 COTTAGERS AS KIERAN RICHARDSON SEEMS TO HAVE WON IT WITH HIS FIRST GOAL FOR FULHAM
Fulham have surely scored the winner
Could be another own goal by the same guy but this was probably going in
Richardson with the winner!
Sotton back in the relegation zone as I predicted at the beginning of the season.
IT ISN't THE WINNER!!
SOUTHAMPTON TIE IT UP!!!
GOAL!!! DESMOND AT ST. MARY'S AS FONTE HEADS IN THE FREE KICK AND HAS A BRACE
I didn't know the Ex Red Devil had left Sunderland
Me either, but his goal was cancelled. Fonte must have been booked for removing his shirt when celebrating.
What possesses players to take off their shirts... I don't get it
I have Spurs vs Villa on the link as lloris punches away a shot from Beneteke. Brad would have caught that
Into stoppage time at St. Mary's
Morning, boys. I'm RVW this morning as I had a well-deserved lie-in after getting back late from the show. Great night out!
Spurs aren't doing much at home against Villa... they had already scored two by this time last week!!!!
Morning Robert Van Winkle
A late corner for the Vicars and it comes to nothing.
Good morning RVW. I told UWS you and Steven were at Woodstock, LOL.
One last chance for Sotton... corner... the five minutes are up... foul called on keeper... stupid by Southampton.. that should be it
Did you know that I am furious at AVB for dropping Brad.
It is
Desmond at St. Mary's
Scoreless at the other two at the 25 minute mark
It finishes Desmond at St. Mary's as neither manager looks happy.
Windies are now up to 75 in the 13th over
Off on walkies before the big match
Fabian Delph picks up a customary booking . That's one for the LUFC Academy.
Cheers UWS. Catch you later.
Just saw the Hoiveld OG. Not much he could do as that was a rocket from Risse.
Wide by Dafoe after being set up by Lennon.
It's amazing how two ordinary sides can produce four goals and plenty of entertainment in the Premiership.
It seems like a strong pot coffee is needed this morning, Bob and Steve.
Agreed BD.It was a decent match and actually, I think Fulham is a decent side. I told UWS that the Vicars may just mange to survive if they can do well at home.
Useless corner from Bale as Spurs seem to be dominating at Villa Park. Did you see that AVB dropped Brad? I am rather cross.
I downloaded a lot of software last night and this ancient lappy is pretty much up to date.I am watching SPurs vs Villa, but not the other match as two at a time may be pushing it with this 2003 lappy.
Lloris out to clear from a long ball
I was looking forward to the battle of the Yank Brads and Bloody AVB had to ruin it for us.
Extra kip for Bob and Steve???
Sandro crosses for Dafoe, but Guzan does well to rush out and gather.
Now it is a useless pass from Sandro
Another useless cross from Sandro after being set up by Lennon.
A knee in the back by Gallas on Beneteke.A poor free kick by Albrighton is easily headed away
Useless by Delph and El Ahmedi concedes a free kick
What's with the United hagiography this morning? I thought this was the year of pandering to Liverpool fans on FSC.
Lloris punches away a free kick. Brad would have caught that. Now Lowton, the ex Blade, is down after an elbow from Dafoe. One minute of stoppage time plus a little more due to the injury
I agree. They have the bloody horrible documentary.
Halftime and 0-0 from Villa Park. A really dull first half.
Also 0-0 at halftime from the Brittania. I went to all that trouble to download Livid.
I didn't see the starting line-ups posted yet, so here they are:
Newcastle: Harper, Santon, Perch, Williamson, Ferguson, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Cisse, Ba.
United: De Gea, da Silva, Rio, Evans, Evra, Cleverley, Carrick, Welbeck, Roon, Kagawa, RVP.
I am back just in time for kick off
COME ON MAN U
And we're away....
Big Jack in the stands!
Bobby and Jack sitting near each other in the stands
Awesome - it's Martin Tyler and the Neviller on the commentary.
Windies end up at 136
Sri Lanka need 137... let's watch it on the Deuce!
Matt thinks it is the first time for ages United haven't had Nani, Valencia or Young
Hello lads . I am here for the action at SJP. Is there any point in watching a match on a link? Those are pure and utter crap.
I believe Matt is correct
Corner to United!
COME ON!
Oh - Welback should have done better after a good team move.
Great chance for Welbeck... useless effort
I like the attacking line up though
Are Chicharito's days numbered?
OH! A useless shot by welbeck after a superb United move
decent start here by United.. my United that is
I have Villa vs Spurs on the link
It is, UWS. I hope they clobber the Toon.
Again, I have both of the other matches on links
Not a goal in sight!!
Great effort there by RVP... wish he cut it back to Cleverley
Congrats Bob, as the Blue Devils won yesterday. I discovered that courtesy of that email from UWS.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT CORNER
GREAT HEADER BY EVANS!
GOAL! Evans thunders in a header from a corner.
1-0 United!
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!
JONNY EVANS HEADS IN A CORNER AND UNITED TAKE THE LEAD
Shut it MUR!!
IT WAS COMPLETE LUCK... look at their records
JUST WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR
RVP won the corner off of Harper, then took a superb corner headed in by Evans
Villa should have scored... a big let off for their french keeper
Sorry UWS. Just trying to get the trash talking started.
Rafa with a break... nice shot but he should have passed it
A really good start by United... this is more like it
A nice early goal for the FOX viewers this afternoon
Raffa shot just wide off a superb long ball.
BLOODY HELL WELBECK... OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!
lay it off!!!
We better not rue these misses
Agreed,UWS Beneteke should have put Villa ahead with that header. Lloris looked clueless. Brad would have saved that
Chicha would have finished both of those
Oh - what a bollocks by Harper. I was just mentioning that I would like to see him in the England set-up. Oh dear....
Just wide by Dafoe. That should have been on target.
1611:
Pat Nevin at Sport Direct Arena for BBC Radio 5 live
"Manchester United are playing a diamond in midfield with two up front. More often than not Welbeck will be alongside Van Persie, but it is very fluid."
ALL UNITED
United are up to third again and all over Newcastle. They need two more goals in order to pip Citeh for second.
Cabaye fouls Cleverly just outside the box.
Free kick chance for United.. bury it
No it was Ba with a strikers challenge.
Roon with a decent shot and easily saved
Oh - Roon with a great free kick, well saved by Harper.
Great save by Harper from a Roon free kick
YES!!!!!!!!
EVRA FROM A GORNER!!!
BEAUTIFUL!
SPURS SCORE TOO
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
EVRA PUTS UNITED TWO UP OFF THE CORNER FROM RVP. GREAT HEADER
GOAL! What on earth are Newcastle doing from these corners. This time it's Evra, the smallest man on the pitch, with a free header at the near post. Wow!
2-0!
two of the players I was slating yesterday are on the scorebook!
