Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Evening, MUR - thanks for putting up the post for tonight's match. I'll be around this evening to watch ManYoo v. Newcastle and follow the other matches as well.
Here's the team news out of the Theatre of Dreams tonight:
Man Utd: De Gea, Vermiji, Wootton, Keane, Buttner, Cleverley, Fletcher, Anderson, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez.
Subs: Johnstone, Evans, Powell, Lingard, Brady, King, Tunnicliffe.
Newcastle: Elliot, Perch, Williamson, Coloccini, Tavernier,
Obertan, Tiote, Gosling, Marveaux, Vuckic, Shola Ameobi.
Subs: Harper, Anita, Cisse, Amalfitano, Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi, Ferguson.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)
Crikey, that's an attacking line-up, with Cleverley, Rooney, Welbeck and Chicharito all in the side. Fergie must have had his Weetabix this morning!
Good evening ,BD. I am still on the ancient lappy, so I will probably have to follow the action via text. I have someone coming over to the house in about five hours to check our desktop. A few icons are appearing on the desktop, so it's probably a virus. He may reset it to day one setting, which will erase everything, but at least it will be back in good working order.
Otherwise, it's like watching the Central League
And Newcastle get us started at OT.
I tried, but can't get the link. It said I lacked a plugin
COME ON YOU MAN UNITED RESERVES!
How are Bob , Steve , and Wayne today?
Doing well, mate. Great to have you on board tonight, dodgy lappy or not.
Thanks mate. I have been fasting today, but am hanging in there.
Newcastle have an early free kick chance here. Marveaux over it....
Williamson got onto it but United get the free kick.
Nary a goal in England nor Scotland! I thought there would be one by now
United looking a wee bit sluggish so far. I haven't seen Roon yet.
Oh dear oh dear - Ameobi set up Gosling there and he made a real hash of the volley.
I can't load the live commentary. All I could get was some bollocks about Norwich vs Donny and the signing of players. I got some graphic that said United had two shots on goal
Oh - Anderson did really well there playing a one-two with Cleverley and Elliot did well to tip it over.
COME ON YOU UNITED RESERVES! WAKE UP!
Did you try loading Radio Five Live?
FINALLY A GOAL!
QPR take the lead vs Reading
QPR are 1-0 up through Junior Hoilett.
I have a feeling I would need to download something
Gooner has given this match an early verdict - he's dozed off!
First goal of the night scored by a Canuck!
Junior Hoilett is Canadian? I had no idea!
Not nice from Gooner. He needs to support the reserves and be charitable. His Gooners are in action vs hapless Coventry
At least that one match is getting some goals - Reading have equalized!
More goals. Reading tie it up at QPR and the Baggies take the lead vs Liverpool
Yeah - hapless Coventry are relying on Gary "Bloody" McSheffry for goals.
Nice - the Liverpool trainwreck continues.
The match at the Hawthorns kicked off fifteen minutes later and Gabriel Tamas scored in the 3rd minute for West Brom. while Kaspar Gorks scored for Reading. Is he former QPR player?
Yeah - I think he's just on loan at Reading.
I just checked and Gorkss, the Latvian international, who scored for Reading at QPR was part of the promotion team under Warnock and moved to Reading last season. He should feel satisfied on scoring on his return to Loftus Road.
If he's on loan, would he be allowed to play against his employers?
Roon with a useless corner. Gooner is proposing that any player that can't beat the first man with a corner gets a club fine of £500 for a first offense. What do you think?
Maybe you're right about that.
Halftime in the Scottish League Cup and it's Rangers 0 Motherwell 0
when we would have ever thought that would be a surprise ?
I would up to 100o Pounds. I think that a marvelous idea from Gooner
Rangers are hopeless, aren't they?
Norwich take the lead vs Donny
The Canaries have taken the lead against Donny.
They are in the fourth tier of Scottish footie, so they must be. I guess they are doing well to hold Well, the second best team in Scotland.
Pool equalize through Sahin. 1-1 there.
Nuri Sahin has tied it up for Liverpool at the Hawthorns. Alexander Tettey scored for Norwich
Oh - how did Cleverley miss that one - a real sitter!
I saw that my response to Gooner was difficult to read. I meant to day raise it to 100 Pounds per offense.
BUGGER!!!
How the mighty have fallen :
Coventry is second from bottom of League One , but holding Gooner's team at the EM. Even at that level, McSheffrey can't score. I bet you're glad he's not at ER.
I am. I'm also glad that we didn't get tickets to the Em tonight. It's absolutely chucking down with rain again today.
Still not a goal in either Scottish League Cup match
Spurs have taken the lead at Carlisle. Gooner not happy.
Great idea, BD. No point in watching what appears to be a poorly played reserve team match in horrible weather. In the low 90s and kind of humid over here.
Vertonghen with the Spurs goal. If they win then it will make the long journey more worthwhile.
Gooner's happy now - it's Giroud with a rare one.
Rangers take the lead vs Motherwell.
Lee McCulloch, who played in the SPL for Rangers last season, scored.
AN UPSET IN THE MAKING???
Gooner doing cartwheels?
Did you tell I proposed 1000 quid per offense?
Neil Warnock's verdict of this match is that it's not a proper cup tie - the weather is far too good and no one has required stitches yet.
GOAL! Anderson has looked up for it tonight and he launches one in.
1-0!
The match at OT is the only one without a goal.
COME ON YOU UNITED RESERVES!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
AND ANDERSON OF ALL PEOPLE.
UWS HAS BEEN HIGHLY CRITICAL OF THE BRAZILIAN, ALBEIT SOME OF IT IS JUSTIFIED.
I did - he concurs.
Ameobi had a half chance but headed right at Twilight.
Only Dunfermline vs Aberdeen is without a goal.
And that's half-time. Good time for United to score. 1-0.
UWS will want to have a look at that Anderson goal. It wasn't Nani quality but still good.
Brilliant!!! Hope Gooner didn't pull a hammy celebrating. Good news in the Capital one cup for all LOBers except Someone and WHR.
The coach can analyze it !
Rangers lead Motherwell 2-0. Dean Shiels , the Northern Ireland international, with the goal.
United to get us underway in the second half.
The second half is underway in the Capital one Cup matches while it is stoppage time at the Hawthorns.
Oh - Welbeck sets up Anderson again and this time he gets it all wrong.
Halftime at the Hawthorns and it is 1-1
UWS would have had plenty to say about that one. The analytical coach!
we could use some of that rain from London so that we don't have to play on a rock, hard pitch in January.
Where is UWS this evening? Too much work and not enough play for him.
Andros Townsend puts Spurs 0-2 up at Carlisle. Bob and Steve will not be pleased.
UWS said he would be busy coaching.
GOAL! Cleverley adds a second with another quality strike.
2-0!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
WELL DONE UNITED!!!
The Ox puts the Gunners 2-0 up. It said Giroud missed a penalty minutes earlier
And now it's Roon with an attempted bender. Didn't quite get it right.
I finally got the live commentary and it said Clever from Cleverley
Alright - here we go. Papas Cisse is replacing Vukic.
Did Gooner celebrate when the Ox scored?
Nice pun.
The Ox makes it 2-0 Arse.
GOAL! Cisse with an instant impact. 2-1 - game on!
A lovely cross from Shane Ferguson who has just come on looking no older than 12 and Cisse only had to post up at the back post.
He did indeed. He was imitating an Ox by poking me in the belly with his horns.
BLOODY HELL!!! IT'S GOING TO BE JUST LIKE ER!!
It didn't show up on the text commentary
I would love to see the vid of Gooner imitating Ox.
OH - Chicha hits the bar after Roon plays him in!
Oh - Ferguson with another inviting cross but this time Twilight clawed it out.
It showed up and said both subs combined on the goal. They had been on the pitch 80 seconds.
Arshavin puts Arsenal 3-0 up. What type of celebration this time around for Gooner?
Andrei Arshavin, back from the wilderness, has added a third goal for the Arse against the hapless Sky Blues.
So Cisse and Arshavin broke their ducks and even Gooner in with the extra celebrations.
Muted this time; I don't think he fancies Arshavin hanging around the club. He wants him off.
So , more cartwheels for Gooner???
At least he chipped in with a goal, albeit vs a crappy team
Comedians on the text as one thought Arshavin had been shipped to Siberia. Gooner would love that. Another said Ben Foster has been ridiculously bad vs Liverpool this evening
Djibril Cisse adds a second goal for QPR. 2-1 there.
One person said on the text that Gooner fans should buy a lottery ticket since Arshavin scored.
What's up with those Cisses? They are surely not sissys.
That goal has not been typed in the commentary. Too busy with the Arshavin jokes.I'm sure Gooner has a few up his sleeve.
Ryan Tunnicliffe is about to make his debut for United. The commentator has just mentioned that his dad stands to pocket £10K for a bet that he put on that his son would play for the first team.
The goal is there and it appears that Crradonna has his hands full attempting to mark the big chunk
No - they are manly Cisses.
What a night for dad! Is that why SAF is bringing him on? I wouldn't bring on an inexperienced player in such a tight match.
Arsenal 4-0 - Theo.
Nicky Shorey makes is Desmond at Loftus Road.
BOOM BOOM, BD!
Frimpong on for Wilshere.
Gooner will be pleased both are back on the pitch, especially Jack
Coventry pull back a consolation goal.
Sorry , it said waiting for wilshere. Roon has been substituted.
Oh - Cisse rattles the crossbar!
Despite that, the match has been settled at the EM.
COME ON UNITED !!!!
HOLD ON!
And now it's 5-1. Miquel.
The Gunners lead 5-1 as Miquel scores a rare goal for the Gunners. Callum Ball had scored for the Sky Blues.
One comedian stated that Ryan Tunnicliffe's dad may have a gambling problem
Pav Pogs seems to have won it for Reading. 2-3 now at Loftus Road. Evil QPR are going out.
Pav Pogs puts Reading 2-3 up at QPR.
Another texter said dad hit a goldmine
Oh - Gosling has a snapshot. This one isn't over yet.
Yeah - apparently Tunicliffe Sr. won ten grand. Not bad.
I could use that. I could pay for the Nocitos to fly to Harlingen
Rangers have defeated Motherwell 0
An upset!!! We never would have dreamed of calling that result an upset
Rangers won 2-0
Arsenal now lead 6-1 while spurs lead 0-3 at Carlisle
Theo with a brace and Sigurdsson with the Spurs goal
The draw for the 4th will be held tonight after the culmination of this match.
Sigurdsson has added a third goal for Spurs.
Spurs have won 0-3 at Carlisle
The Gunners have defeated the Sky Blues 6-1.
Aberdeen won 0-1 at Dunfermline
United run out 2-1 winners. Rode their luck a bit there in the end, Leeds style but you're into the next round. Now - please don't give us any War of the Roses clashes. I'll have Middlesboro please.
Norwich defeated Donny 1-0 and Reading won 2-3 at Evil QPR
No. We want Boro. I had a feeling it would be like ER. That was my comment after Pappas Cisse Scored.Still 1-1 at the Hawthorns.
Are you hanging around for the draw? If so , I will too.
Yep - I'm here through the draw and then off to Bedfordshire. I was up at 6 this morning to take my dad to the clinic for a TB test.
Liverpool now lead 1-2 at the Hawthorns . Nuri Sahin has a brace.
How is it possible that Wayne Rooney was MOTM? I don't get it.
A long day, BD. A day for which you and Steve deserve numerous compliments . Well done lads!
Bugger.
Getting it done over here. It's been good.
Keep up the good work lads! Four minutes plus stoppage time remaining at the Hawthorns.
Two minutes plus stoppage time remaining. Brad Jones in goal for Liverpool
Cheers, mate.
Into the second minute of stoppage time at the Hawthorns.
If your dad is moving to the U.S. permanently then he is definitely welcome at the mini reunion. Is that a possibility?
BUGGER!!!
LIVERPOOL WON 1-2 AT THE HAWTHORNS!
Now time for the 4th Round Draw
Cheers, mate. I'm not sure how much traveling he's going to be able to do. He's pretty fragile right now.
I'd like to stay away from United, Chelski, Liverpool and Spurs, ta very much.
I may have a found a live text for the fourth round draw on arsenal.com.
MAYBE???
I was thinking that, but wasn't sure. If Wayne is doing well, he is definitely welcome.
Here comes the draw, then....
Sunderland v. Boro
Got on text
Swindon v. Villa
Wigan v. Bradford
Leeds v. Soton I'll take that
Norwich v. Spurs
Liverpool v. Swansea
Not exactly classics
sunderland vs Middlesbrough

BLOODY HELL!!!

That's enough for me for tonight. Cheerio, mate!
Cheers mate! Please send us some of that rain! Have a deserved rest mate! Good night Gooner and BD!
