On the Way to Blighty
It's still dark here in WNY as I'm up to watch as much footer as I can get in before I'm whisked off to the airport by a friend on the way to grab my dad. In a week's time, we'll be happy to head back to the States with him in tow. It may break our tie with London and the UK for the time being but not for long. For now, I'm sitting back and relaxing with Swansea v. Everton on the box. Join me?

Wahay - the pre-match show has started with fake Scot Derek Rae hosting.
Surprisingly, this fixture is 5th v. 7th. Here is the team news:
Swansea City hand a full debut to Pablo Hernandez while Ki Sung-yueng also makes his first Premier League start: Vorm, Rangel, Tate, Williams, Davies, Ki, de Guzman, Michu, Hernandez, Routledge, Graham.
Subs: Tremmel, Britton, Dyer, Monk, Shechter, Moore, Tiendalli.
Everton are without Tony Hibbert, Darron Gibson and Nikica Jelavic: Howard, Neville, Heitinga, Jagielka, Baines, Osman, Pienaar, Coleman, Fellaini, Mirallas, Anichebe.
Subs: Mucha, Oviedo, Naismith, Distin, Gueye, Vellios, Duffy.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)
I'll be buzzing off to the airport at about half-time of the 10am matches. My eye will definitely be on Elland Road as we host Forest hoping to bounce back from two losses on the trot.
Coffee's on, and I'm ready to yell at the TV from my couch.
Morning Bob.
Good morning BD.Jacquelyn and Elizabeth are already awake. what a powerful post!!It will be great to see your dad in the U.S. Still dark here too.
Safe travels.
Good morning Someone . We have coffee brewing too.
I second that!Have a safe trip!
I will have to leave at halftime of the 10 AM matches as well.
Some of the news from the week. Fergie has written a letter that will be handed out at the turnstiles tomorrow at Anfield, appealing to United away support not to engage in nasty chanting.
Michael Laudrup has had to withdraw his comments about match fixing this week.
We have a fake Scot and a real Scot announcing from South Wales. What a combination!
I read that last night on soccernet . I hope SAF is successful.I had not heard about Laudrup's comments.
They're off from the Liberty Stadium
Here we go, then. A fake Scot alongside a real Scot Craig Burley on the commentary on ESPN2 this morning.
Early set piece that Worm struggles to gather in. Phew! That was nearly an early knock in for Hair Bear.
Nice and sunny in South Wales. Looks like it has the past week in Harligen. Michael worm had to be alert early on as he saved a header from, Anichibe off the free kick
Morning, Someone and MUR - thanks for the well wishes. I'm on pins and needles about the trip.
Let's see how inspired Anichibe is now that he's getting the start. Jelavic's out a couple of weeks.
Crikey - it's another massive scramble in the Swansea! The Toffees should be 2-0 up already as Someone is no doubt waking up the household with his early morning yelling.
Got to finish those Mirallis. Everton off on the front foot!
Miralis heads straight to Worm After he saved well from anichebe as the Swansea defense were at sixes and sevens.
I reckon that Everton are really missing the goalscoring class of Jelavic right now; yet, not on this evidence. Really quick start from the Toffees.
I hope the Toffees have better luck with the officiating than on Monday
Yet another free kick chance here for Everton....
Coleman pumps one in toward Hair Bear. The Swans are really struggling to control him.
It's all everton as Hair Bear has a shot blocked.
Where did Everton get Miralis? He's a new face for me.
Oh that officiating. Hoping Everton have the talent to replace Jelavic for a couple of weeks. The good thing is he's only out short term.
Vic's playing tough this morning.
I am not sure,BD. Anichebe came on for Jelavic on Monday and scored.
Mralis is a Belgian international signed from Olympiakos.
Pablo Hernandez is getting a roasting on that right side on his Premiership debut. Welcome to England, mate!
Better defending from Swansea as they head away the free kick from Baines.
Mirallis came over from one of the Greek teams. Olympiacos. Everton have two Belgians now.
Cheers, MUR - we don't call you the LOB Statto for nothing.
Was Pablo playing in Spain?
Thanks BD. Someone got it right too.
I have to say that that current Belgian side is a bit tasty with Vermaelen and Kompany as center backs, Fellaini, Dembele, and Eden Hazard going forward.
IS there a power outage in Glenville or are they several time zones behind us?
Yeah - Derek Rae just said that he signed from Valencia. Different pace of the game in the Prem from La Liga.
I suspect that UWS is having a lie in before his Saturday errands start.
Oh dear - Williams is in trouble here. Was he last man back? Could be red - no, it's yellow. Lucky boy.
On the replay, should have been red. Denied a goalscoring oppo.
Steam coming out of David Moyes' ears after that decision.
Free kick is blasted by Baines into the wall.
Refs are hating on us this season! I like this attacking Everton side.
Ashley Williams booked for a foul on Anichebe just outside the box. Not red because there was a covering dfender who made it there just in the nick of time. Several blocked shots off the free kick
David Moyes is certainly releasing the hounds this season. I can't remember a more attacking Everton side. Swansea are really under the cosh here.
If you look at the replay it was the correct decision. I know it looked like it should have been red, but that covering defender was there so it was yellow. They will give yellow when that is the case.
Swansea finally have a shot on goal after being under the cosh as Pablo Hernandez volleys wide.
Crikey - the Swans have coughed the ball up in midfield again and Anichebe runs right at Tate. Just overran the ball.
Agreed, BD. It's great to see Moyes letting the Toffees attack
Just ate some muffins that Jacquelyn. Rather tasty! Goes great with coffee.
I'm loving the movement. Can use Gibson back out there. A little more creativity. The goals will come if Moyes keeps letting them play.
What on earth are Swansea playing at? They can't even seem to put two passes together. Worm has just knocked it straight into touch rugby style. Laudrup must be furious.
Are you using child labor down there in Texas, MUR?
Anichebe straight at Worm on the turn after Everton continue to get a lot of joy down the left
GOAL! Finally, Anichebe notches the goal that Everton deserved.
VIC!!! From the hair of Fellaini!
GOAL!!! 0-1 TOFFEES . GREAT WORK FROM HAIR BEAR AND ANICHEBE FINISHES.
Fairly simple there with the two Swansea center backs all at sea. A long diagonal aimed at Hair Bear who muscles Williams out of the way and knocks it to Anichebe who beat Tate to the finish.
0-1 Everton!
This goal was coming. It was just a matter of time. Two in two for Anichebe. Who needs Jelavic?
Anichibe, Mirallis, Jelavic - a surfeit of strikers :)
The muffins were community service for the needy. A charitable contribution.
Everton just seem a step quicker than the home side who must have had a big breakfast. They look sluggish.
Definitely an improved Everton, Someone.
If that's what you're calling it, mate. I don't know if it will satisfy social services, though. :-)
Agreed , BD. That or they are constipated!
Oh - great run from Anichebe but then he got nervous and blasted over the top.
Could have shot better there Vic.
Swansea look totally lost out there.
Miles over by Anichebe from a great break by Hair Bear. That should have been 2-0
I will have to pay them a tenner to shut them up mate!
Swansea seem to merely be playing on the break. Strange for a home side.
A true team effort by Everton. These guys are on the same page out there.
I told Elizabeth. She said Jacquelyn was giving mum a well deserved rest. She found your comment amusing.
More of the same from the supposed home side.
Glad to give her a chuckle.
Never a pen. Anichebe went down too easily, especially for a big lad.
Cheers mate!
Nasty lunge there from midfielder Ki on his debut. Yellow.
Ki booked for a foul on Pienaar as he lost possession off the throw from worm.
Despite his goal, Anichibe is the only Everton player who hasn't been impressing me. Swap him for Jelavic and they'd be three or four up at this stage.
The free kick from Baines was cleared and Swansea cough it up yet again.
Top goalscorer in the Prem Michu has been a passenger so far. Not a sniff.
Now Michu, the temp GBB , recieves a lecture from the ref for a lunge.
Oh - Hernandez has one cleared off the line by Jags.
Jags heads off the line from Pablo Hernandez as he was set up by Michu. Their best attack of the match
Fellaini just missed getting a good shot on in the box.
Swansea showing some signs of life. Jags heads one out.
Weak effort by Osman. They're trying to set up a Fellaini header.
Everton broke as Anichebe easily beat Tate for Pace, but a poor finish from Pienaar
Just a quick shout that I will be hosting an LOB mini reunion in Harlingen, Texas from January 2nd through the 7th. You are definitely invited Someone. we would love to have you there.
A bit better now from Swansea.
Oh - Michu did well to rise over Hear Bair but nodded over the bar. Unlucky.
Swansea win their first corner. Michu heads over from the corner by De Guzman
BLOODY POSSESSION STATS!
Cheers, MUR - I'm looking forward to it.
Hey Boys
I am not going to be around much today
I am off to a car wash fundraiser and then a game
You are invited too, Bob as are all LOBers.
Thanks for the invite MUR, we're saving out vacation time for Scotland in April.
Home side waking up late in the half.
Ki shoots just wide. Good effort by the former Celtic man.
OH! Inches wide by Ki.
Morning, UWS - usual busy Saturday for you, then?
Good morning, UWS. Is the carwash to help raise money for a footie team?
Sorry to hear that Someone. You will be missed. Hope you have a great trip to Scotland. I would love to go there one day
Ki can't be all bad if he has been on both Celtic and Everton. All good, Someone?
Nice spot for an Everton free kick here. Just not getting the finish. Osman not impressing me today.
GOAL! Miralis makes sure at the second attempt! 2-0. Deserved.
TWO NIL
Great ball... nice save ... but the ball still makes it in
What a follow up by Mirallis!!!! Heads in his own rebound. Beautiful pass by Pienaar.
GOAL !!! 0-2 TOFFEES AS THE SWANS WERE RIPPED APART. THE LITTLE NEVILLER PUT PIENAAR THROUGH DOWN THE RIGHT. HE CROSSED FOR MIRALIS WHOSE SHOT WAS TIPPED ON TO THE BAR BY WORM AND HE PUT AWAY HIS OWN REBOUND.
Now Everton need to remember to defend for 50 more minutes.
swansea immediately attack and nearly pull one back through Danny Graham.
Into stoppage time
For once, A poor ball from Hair Bear from a Toffees attack.
Got to mark Gangel. Nice save by Howard!
Great save by Timmy from Angel Rangel as Swansea have a corner that is easily cleared,
The half ends just in time to stop Swansea's waking up.
Now Angel Rangel misses a sitter as the ref blows for halftime.
Sorry.. buggered off again.
Yes MUR, it is a fundraiser for the team
Just went to take out the trash. A nice comfy morning outdoors.
The second half is underway from South Wales.
Just a reminder, you are invited to the mini reunion, UWS!
Fellaini and Rangel, threatening to show each other the content of their purses.
Cheers from the fans as Hair Bear is tackled by De Guzman after a fracar between Hair Bear and Angle Rangel
As Everton kick off the second half, they're at least temporarily in second. Nosebleed territory for the Toffees!
swansea win an early second half corner.Ashley Williams is called for a foul on Timmy. Craig Burley disgarees with the call.
Nice save from Timmy from Michu
Great save by Timmy from Michu for a corner as Heitinga was beaten for pace. The corner was headed away and Dyer had a shot blocked.
Wouldn't it be fitting if Angel Rangel's middle name was Bangle? Just thinking.
Swans showing some initiative in this half. Let's see if Everton can continue their first half form.
Dyer must have been a halftime sub. He should have started as he was a regular last season.Danny Graham wins a Swansea corner.
The corner from De Guzman is cleared.
Off the bar!!
Oh - how did Everton not get their third? Miralis off the bar!
Another brilliant save by Howard
How did Everton not score there? Mirallis off the bar. Anichibe could not get the touch and Fellaini ran out of space and shot too late.
Howard with a dazzling save off Ki.
Oh - another great save from Timmy!
I'll be back for the second half of the ten o'clockers
OH! Off the bar from Miralis then Worm saves from Anichebe, then Timmy tips over the bar at the other end. The corner from De Guzman is headed away by Coleman
END TO END STUFF!
Dyer gets a yellow for questioning the ref's lineage.
Alan Tate has been replaced by a member of the Lollipop Guild.
Nathan Dyer has talked himself into the book and Leon Britton is on for Alan Tate in an attacking change,
Cheers UWS! Have fun!
Angel Rangel is booked for a foul on Anichebe just outside the box.
It's gone from bad to worse. Two quick yellows for Nathan Dyer and he's off for an early bath.
Dyer gets his second yellow and is done for the day. Going to be tough for Swansea to get two being down a man.
USeless short free kick from Baines , then coughed up by Swansea, then Dyer commits a rash challenge outside th box and is sent off for a seocnd yellow. He lasted all of twelve minutes. enough to ear a bath?
Dyer gets a round of applause from the home crowd as he comes off. Why? I don't get that. A red card used to be a mark of shame. What's he done to deserve that applause? He chatted his way into the book in the first place and then that wild challenge has put his team down to ten men. Ridiculous!
12 minutes of play, two yellows. That's a day for Joey Barton.
Just wide by Miralis off the free kick
I agree 100%, BD and Someone.Dyer let down the team
What a busy second half . While there is a lull,
DOUBLE BOOM BOOM, BD!
Love the Bangle nickname and the lollipop guild remarks.
I would think this one is done and dusted now that Dyer has been sent off. Someone may have a difference of opinion
Now the Swansea faithful are chanting "Cheat, cheat, cheat." Are they watching the same match? Their side has been thoroughly outplayed by Everton today.
Cheers, MUR - I do me best.
Their team did not show up at home. A sub gets tossed 12 minutes into the second half. Tough luck Swans fans.
I'd like more goals. I think Fellaini deserves one.
I agree, BD. Also agree that Swansea fans must be watching a different match.I think the ref has had a great match.
Now Michu is booked for pulling down OSman. Hair Bear misses a sitter. That's as close as he will come to scoring, Someone.
Everton really should have had three or four. Hair Bear lifts one over the top. Should have scored.
Aaugh. Fellaini's got to put that one in the back of the net.
Swans getting a little thuggish.
Fove bookings and sending off for the Swans in a shameful display, but Everton leads where it counts: Two goals to nil.
The Swans with a rare attacking move there.
Better from Swansea as Routledge puts De Guzman through down the right , but Danny Graham cannot connect from his tasty cross.
Time to bring in a defensive sub Moyes. I'd like to see Duffy get some play with the first club.
Everton at Leeds, is that Tuesday?
I would have to favor Crawley at home to Swansea unless there is a drastic improvement
We'll be gathered around the box in London on Tuesday evening for that League Cup clash at Elland Road. No love for the Toffees that night. I hope they don't show up like they have today.
Leon Osman is booked for everton as Steven Naismith is on for Miralis
Naismith in for Mirallis.
Osman booked.
Yeah - it's the Sky match as well so there should be a decent link for that one, MUR.
Oh - Hair Bear has a headed nodded off the line by Britton!
Fellaini almost got one. Headed off the line.
I'll be following at work on Tuesday.
Anichebe wins a n Everton corner and Hair Bear has header headed off the line from the corner. The ref blew his whistle.
Itay Schechter, the Israeli international on loan from Red Devil's team, is on for Danny Graham.
Is it part of Derek Rae's job description to point out any Scotland internationals on the pitch?
Unfortunately, I will be at work too on Tuesday. Sorry about that, Bob.
Not sure, BD. Naismith is the only one at this time.
It's a tartan magnet, it's in his contract.
I look forward to the forward to the trash talking between BD and Someone ahead of the Capital One match
Oh - Anichebe should have tapped that one home. How many chances have they had!?
USeless free kick from De Guzman And Everton nearly punish them on the break as Anichebe misses a sitter off a tasty cross from Baines.
Pienaar and Baines are magic - a bit hard of a pass but Anichibe should have had his second.
Just a heads up Someone: When Bob posts the lineups on Tuesday He will call his team the Good Guys and the Toffees the Bad Guys. He did that when LUFC played Man Yoo in the Carling Cup last season. Wee Mickey did the job that night.
Great save by worm off a volley from Anichebe after a ahot from Naismith was blocked then Worm saves from Anichebe after a miscue from Hair Bear,
That's ok. I know who the Good Guys really are.
Everton should have six today.
Only good natured banter on Tuesday. I don't honestly expect much from the match, unless Moyesy decides to put out the tea ladies. Everton are in red hot form and, well, Leeds are not. Four losses in six in the Championship.
Anichebe should have had a double hat-trick by now.Lucky Swans!
GOAL! Now it is 0-3. And much deserved. Hair Bear gets his goal finally.
And Fellaini gets his goal!!!!
THERE IT IS AND HAIR BEAR SCORES AS SOMEONE HAD WISHED! HE HEADED IN A FREE KICK FROM BAINES!
Ashley Williams has been talked up as a future England center back. Not on this evidence. He's been humiliated by Fellaini this afternoon.
Now the Everton fans are singing "We're Going to Win the League." And why not?
Talking about Tea Ladies; Swansea sure have today. Are they ripe for an upset at Crawley on Tuesday. I would have to favor the Surrey side Tuesday night!
And the Swans respond with "You're Going to win F--k All!" Not quite sporting.
Win the league, come in second, I do not care!
Actually, Ashley Williams is a welsh international. Now worries mate! I think it is too early to talk about the Toffees as title contenders.Possibly a CL spot.
Let's see how things are come January to talk about final standings. They're off to their best start in years though.
A double sub for everton . Magaye Gaye for Pienaaar and Bryan Oviedo, the Costa Rican signed from Copenhagen, on for Hair Bear.
Swansea fans should look at their team's horrible showing before criticizing a top team
The Fake scot says that there will be three minutes of stoppage time.
I'm off to run some errands.
Have a safe trip BD.
Been a good result for me this morning!
Nice chatting with you all.
Swansea lacking in ideas.
Great chatting with you SOmeone.
CHEERS!
Into those three minutes of stoppage time.
