I am here!
No sleeping in today for me
Morning UWS - bright and early for you - welcome!
Our coverage on the Deuce has begun.
They are in the Arsenal dressing room
The teams that are trotting out at the Emirates now:
Arsenal: Mannone; Jenkinson, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs; Arteta, Diaby; Ramsey, Cazorla, Podolski; Gervinho. Subs: Mertesacker, Santos, Giroud, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Djourou, Martinez.
Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Mikel; Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Torres. Subs: Turnbull, Romeu, Lampard, Moses, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Bertrand.
Referee: Martin Atkinson.
Enjoyed the Thomas interview - good stuff. You have to teach him all of the cliches:
"We're taking it one game at a time."
"Well, Brian...."
"At the end of the day...."
If Arsenal win, they will go above United into second place. Hopefully, just for a couple of hours
LINE-UPS- Arsenal v Chelsea

"we'll take one game at a time"
Did you hear about a bust-up between your buddy Nani and United youngster?
They had some disagreement on the practice field and then in they went into a gym. Nani called him over and people thought they were going to talk it out... Nani popped him!
Surely he is out the door... especially with how crap he's been
Good morning UWS and good afternoon, bD. It still looks like the middle of the noght in Texas. The coffee is brewing. Extra strong this morning
A good early morning to you, MUR. It's mid-day here - we've just had a spot of lunch. Feels strange.
POOR FROM NANI!
I would think he is definitely out. He will probably be gone in the January transfer window.
My boy Nani was well within his rights - no one talks back to the big man. The youngster had some cheek.
Fred had a spot of cat brekkies. When I opened the door he refused to shut it.
Lamps is on the bench!
Teams coming out of the tunnel
Teams coming out at the Em now. Beautiful day in London after a week of rain.
Yeah - Hazard will have a chance to take the penalties that he earns today.
Morning MUR
I really think we should pack Nani off to Elland Road!
I would love to see him and Warnock get to know each other
I don't think SAF will see it that way. The first team players are supposed to be diplomats. I think he ran the ire of SAF. Ask Beckham , the bald Dutch defender, Paul Ince, Kanchelskis, and Skippy what happens when that occurs.
I think Bob would be delighted to see Nani at ER, so he could really call him the Yorkshire Nani. I would bet on Warnock in a boxing match. I bet Nani fears SAF.
Current top goalscorers in the Prem:
1. RVP - 5
2. Michu - 4
- Ba - 4
- Defoe - 4
- Fletcher - 4
- Lambert - 4
7. Tevez - 3
- Zamora - 3
They're off from the sunny EM
I would be delighted to see the Portugeezer show up at ER.
Here we go!
And we're off
John Terry getting some boos from the boo boys right from the off.
Early free kick chance earned by Hazard.
Sideshow fancies a pop....
Straight at Mannone.
Weak shot by David Luis
The free kick from David Luiz takes a hop straight to Mannone.
Dangerous ball over from El Nino. No one following in.
I would bet on Warnock vs Nani in a fight. Nani knows not to take on SAF.
TOO LATE , IAN!
Bob already told me about the rainy week.
I'd take that 5-3 today.... AND an RVP hat-trick!
Ramsey tries one but slices badly.
BLOODY HELL!!!
Why is everyone pushing for Jenkinson to play for England?
Me too, UWS. I would take both of those even though I am thinking a draw might suit us.
Are the Arsenal fans going to get bored boing Terry and Cashley?
They mentioned that Jenkinson has dual citizenship. English and....?
Guess what other country he could represent.
All Jenkinson has done is pass to a blue shirt. Is that a sign that he should replace Glen in the starting lineup?
One of the first managers to go was last night
Kean force to resign at Ewood Park
Why? They're in SECOND!!!
I think it's Finland.
An understatement by Ian when he mentioned the lack of pace by Mertesacker. I heard he slower than some of the grannies.
Good pressure from the Arse there before Gervinho pulled it back to Cazorla who ballooned his shot into Row Z.
The statue of TH-14 outside the ground is quicker than Mertesacker.
I was thinking the same, UWS. Definitely a weird time. He claimed his position was untenable. He should have stated that last season.
BOOM BOOM, BD!
Oh - Diaby pulls the trigger but Cech was well behind it.
Arsenal have jumped up to 3rd just by kicking off
Great job on the quiz, UWS. I should have remembered Worthington , but Rumbelows was during a not so good time in life. Either way we answered it between us.
No real rhythm to this match yet.
I saw a clip this week of Saint and Greavsie hosting the draw for the 4th Round of the Rumbelows with...Donald Trump!
Still early doors. I think the match will improve.
The final balls are not coming in yet from the Arse wide men. Gooner's calling for a club fine.
BLOODY HELL!!!
Trump a footy fan. I heard his hair weave fell in the pre draw stew.
Abu Diaby is hobbling off early doors - looks like the Ox will be his replacement.
The Ox injured? That might explain it. Fine Arsene for the tactics!
Gervinho goes down on the edge of the box under Cashley's challenge. Nothing from Referee Atkinson.
Spot on BD! That's what happened. Gervinho falls down just outside the box and Gooner is livid!
Gooner must have been furious!
Free kick chance now as Vermaelen fouls Hazard.
Now Vermalen is called at the other end for a foul on Torres.
GOAL! Torres sneaks in at the back for a free header!
0-1 Chelski.
GOAL!!! 0-1 CHELSEA AS TORRES HEADS IN A FREE KICK .POOR MARKING BY WHAT A HEADER OFF THE FREE KICK FROM MATA
So many people free in the box there for the Blues. Argh. And that after all of the pre-match chat about Stevie Bould shaping up the back four.
Torres was able to sneak by Kosc and steer it in on the volley.
They're blaming Kos. What was Steve's reaction? Is the flat still in tact????
Agreed . Steve Bould will be furious. He would have never let that happen in his day
Big shout from the home fans there.
And then Torres breaks free and goes down in the box. It's all happening!
I was in the loo for the goal... bugger
Now Torres breaks... was that penalty!!!
The flat is still intact but Gooner is steaming mad.
Tirres breaks for Chelsea and was through with just Mannomne to beat. Never a pen. he tripped. That should have nbeen a brace.
If it wasn't... it was hopeless by Torres... his run wasn't too good to start with
Poor Gunners corner that fails to beat the first man ans anod Carzola win another. Another wasted corner.
Cazorla should have done better with the cross
Now the replay.. no it wasn't
Torres swung his leg and hit the leg
How did Torres miss that? Are Ian and Macca watching the same match I am? Torres should have had a second. I could have scored that. Never a pen. He whiffed you dumb Scouse!
Gooner agrees with my proposal that players who get carded for diving should be forced to do a press conference after the match where the vid is shown and they have to account for themselves. That Torres dive was atrocious.
You should be 100% match fit, UWS after that trip!
I like that idea Steve!
I actually don't think it was a penalty OR a dive
He swung his leg and hit Kosc's leg
I agree 100% with Gooner, but Torres did not dive this time. It was an AYA style mis-kick.
Should Gervinho done better there?
Oh - Gervinho drifted free there but headed it back across the goal rather than on goal. JT was able to chest it back coolly.
Bob, what say Steve after the goal and what has transpired throughout the match?
Torres has it in the net again but is ruled offside.
A sublime pass from Mata , but Torres was offside.
Gooner's reaction is not repeatable on a family website.
A pensive Arsene.
Is Dad watching the match with you?
If so, behave boys
I have probably seen it all before, BD! LOVELY!
what team does dad support? I am sure dad has seen it all. When my bruvs and I did that my mum would tell us to go out in the field and play soccer!
Very high and very wide from long range from Vermaelen
Yeah - my dad is right here with us. Fortunately his hearing isn't so good these days.
He used to be a Tottenham fan when we were kids but has shifted his loyalties to Arsenal over the years. Scandalous!
I heard your dad is a Spurs fan. Is that correct, BD? IS he an Arsenal fan?
I am surprised that Chelsea have been on top
I thought Arsenal would come out an play like they did last week at Citeh.. they were the better team last week
Still, they came from behind to get something... same again this week
Tell him I said hello
NAUGHTY FROM WAYNE!
I second that . Hello to your dad.
Ramsey lunges in and gets the first yellow of the match.
Ramsey is booked for a foul on Oscar. He did get the ball.
That was bad by Ramsey. Useless decision with the ball and then in the book
Again, it wasn't that bad a challenge.. these days you can't sneeze on a player without getting a card
Will do, lads. Thanks!
Confident of win today at Ashton Gate Robert?
A similar foul by Oscar on Ox. why wasn't he booked.?
Brilliant stuff from Hazard there streaking free but Mikel wastes the chance.
Hazard tries a cross like Ronaldo did in the 04 Cup Final
JUST GET IT OVER
I think Leeds can win at Ashton Gate.A local derby vs Barnsley at ER next week.
Soccer Saturday
http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/143790/1/watch-soccer-saturday.html
agreed, BD and Uws. Great by Hazard, but Obi Wan Mikkel shows why he has never scored.
Now Oscar does go into the book after a catalogue of fould.
Oscar is booked due to several poor challenges. Sarcastic cheers from the Gooners
Ramsey's down now looking for treatment.
Good pressure from the Arse ends with a hopeless cross by the Ox
Great block by Ramires from Carzola and Ramsey is down, injured
Nasty late one there from Torres down Ramsey's ankle. Should have been noticed by Atkinson.
Finally, some daylight in Texas.
Infostrada on Twitter: "Fernando Torres scores his 75th PL goal. Since his entry in PL in 2007 only Rooney (88) and Robin van Persie (80) have scored more PL goals."
Who do those other two play for?
United better score boatloads!!
An inconsistent start by Atkinson. What say you Arsene?
GOAL !!! 1-1
WHAT A FINISH BY GERVINHO
GOAL! Gervinho levels it and the mood has brightened in the flat!
1-1!
GOAL!!!
GERNVINHO DOES KNOW WHAT RECTANGLE TO AIM FOR!
Great pass from OX and a nice turn and finish from Gervinho.
Steve must be going potty!I can hear the chanting from the flat
Charlie is happy in the SS studio
Jeff asks Charlie who has scored... "it will be the last person you would think"
Jenkinson has a cross cut out for a corner. Carzola has a cross blocked by Oscar and Atkinson calls a foul for ????
Jenkinson is doing quite well
He was horrible int he 8-2 match season
Constant Arsenal pressure and Chelsea struggled to clear the cross from Jenkinson.
I don't know - Gervinho has scored a few this season.
Agreed, UWS. Also like the quote from Infostrada on Twitter
Celebrations from Steve ? A nice jig from the Gooner?
Yeah - Jenkinson has improved this season. The other country he could represent is....Finland!
I was talking about Gervinho and his performance last week at the Etihad
No dancing but plenty of fist pumping action from the Gooner!
Agreed, BD, but not ready to start for England.
Half time and all square
Should be a great second half
I am off to the store quickly... I'll be back!
Torres wriggles free in the box and hits the side netting with his shot.
Half time - 1-1.
Into the side netting from Torres and Atkinson blows the whistle for halftime. It's 1-1 after an action packed first half.
Time for a trip to the loo . Need to be at 100% match fitness for the second half.
Quiet in my house. The pets are asleep, the girls are asleep, and Elizabeth is visiting her parents.
I'm taking your lead too, MUR.
Quite right, BD! You need to be at 100% match fitness for this match.
The second half is underway from the EM.
Looks like a great day for Walkies at Regents or Hyde Park.
I would start Sagna over Jenkinson, despite the improvement.
A Chelsea pass deflects off of Gervinho for a corner.
I'm back at match fitness for the start of the second half.
Sideshow picks up his requisite yellow, this time for diving.
David Luiz is booked for a theatrical dive in the box. It was bloody obvious. Why is he arguing?
welcome back, BD. A post match interview with a Portugese interpreter?
I'm the only one awake in my house.
Oh - great run from Podolski and he fizzed it across the box. Cazorla should have done better with the rebound.
Ping pong in the Chelsea box and Carzola shoots into the side netting,It started with a cross from Poldi
I think that makes sense. Make these players accountable for their diving. I think that would stop it immediately.
TOO LATE IAN! We already mentioned it. He says a Finnish mother. Is there more than one mother???
Vermaelen into the book now for bringing down Torres.
Now Vermaelen is booked for a naughty foul
GOAL !!! 1-2 CHELSEA AS A FREE KICK FROM MATA WENT THROUGH A CROWD OF PLAYERS AND COMPLETELY FOOLED CECH.
GOAL! Mata's free kick swings all the way through the Arsenal box. I think it's Kosc's own goal.
1-2!
More effing and blinding in the front room at 77 Cholmley Gardens.
Did he mean to do that?
Two goals from two free kicks then. Steve Bould won't be best pleased with that. And Koscielny was at fault in both cases.
I would expect nothing different under the circumstances!
I am back and Chelsea have retaken the lead!!
Plenty of venting at Kos from Colmnley Gardens. Double seven is not double luck???
Good pressure as a response from the Arse. There are still more goals in this one, I reckon. I predicted a 4-3 Arsenal win this morning.
welcome back, UWS. Did you see the goal?
That may happen,BD.
Smoke Coming out of the chimney from 77 Cholmley Gardens!
Just saw it.. those kicks are so difficult to defend
ooh, great save by Cech from Podolski
Oh - great save from Cech!
BREAKING TEAM NEWS
Youngsters Suso, Raheem Sterling and Andre Wisdom all start for Liverpool, as does Nuri Sahin, who scored twice midweek in the Capital One Cup.
Superb reflex save from Cech off a header from Poldi off a cross from Gibbs.
Liverpool visit Carrow Road... I hope they struggle again
Sad news about John Bond this week
Must be time for Arsene to consider some changes. He's already been forced into one with The Ox replacing Diaby early on. Theo should feature at some point. Maybe Giroud as well as long as they need goals.
Very sad news about John Bond. I remember him well. Norwich City legend.
Sterling has been starting all along, Suso started the last league match. I would definitely start Sahin, but am not familiar with Andre Wisdom tooth. A relegation six pointer at Carrow Road today
Arteta with some stellar work there picks up a free kick.
Arsenal need this one....
Cleared out and Chelski break quickly.
I had not heard about John Bond, but very sad indeed. He manged the Canaries and Citeh when I lived in England. I remember him well. Definitely sad news.
Nice to see two English kids playing at full back for the Arsenal.
A Chelsea win is not good for United.
COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!
My favorite memory of John Bond was at the beginning of the second half of Norwich match on Match of the Week.
He always came up to the commentary box after half time and talk to Gerry Harrison. He was lambasting his players for the first half and they concede inside the first minute... he makes some comment and the absolute silence from JB
Torres blew that break
Chelski are looking to hit Arse on the break with a pack of players. Breaks down again.
Agreed, BD even though it is really one and one half.
I think I remember that interview, UWS! It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Gibbs does well to get to the by-line but Sideshow clears out.
Giroud on for Podolski - I'm surprised; I thought the German was Arsenal's best player today.
A cross from Gibbs is nearly deflected into his own goal by David Luiz. Theo Is on for Ramsey. I agree with that change.
Didn't see the other change. I don't like that one. A poor corner. Poor enough for a fine.
I was always thankful for John Bond's son, Kevin, for slotting home a last minute penalty against Villa to tie it up and send the fans home happy after the Justin Fash sending off
Were you at that violence match MUR?
It was on on the Host Nations annual 'Christmas Shopping' trip to Norwich on the first Sunday in December
Bugger off, Torres!
other than the finish, Torres has been bloody useless. I disagree with Ian
Berba is not playing today for Fulham because of injury
I did not go that one, UWS.I went to other matches, but not that one.
I was there, of course. Loved every minute of it.
England win a must-win match against NZ in the World T20 Cup
I remember an unbeaten Southampton going to Carrow Road and Charlie George being pelted by coins. He demanded that the match be replayed after the Canaries won 1-0. It never happened!
End to end stuff now - fantastic!
Great cricket update from the Nocito Sports Center
RDM CHEESED!
I was really annoyed one year. In 1980, United were the visitors to Carrow Road on the first Saturday in December.... I was so excited.... I THEN FOUND OUT I HAD TO GO TO MY COUSIN'S WEDDING!!!
Oh - great hit from Giroud but well saved by Cech.
ooh, almost!
Deflection, save.. just over
Oscar off for Victor Moses.
