Match Day 5 Continued
There is more CL action as Two EPL clubs have must win matches vs teams from the capital. Citeh vs Real from the Spanish capital and The Gunners vs the team from the Vermont capital. It has been an eventful day as RDM has been sacked as Chelsea manager. He did last six days longer than AVB and that is now eight Chelsea managers in just over nine years. I am sure Bob would love to have RDM at ER. Also UEFA has started an investigation against Luiz Adriano of Shakhtar for his disgraceful goal vs Norjdesland. They are considering disciplinary action for what he did. I think a ban would be appropriate. Even the manager apologized for what happened.Come join me as I am on the first day of a five day vacation.

An early score as it finished Desmond between Zenit and Malaga as the Spanish team has clinched qualification to the knockout stages. If AC Milan do not win today then Malaga will clinch top spot in the group.
If Citeh lose and Ajax draw at Dortmund Citeh are not just out of the CL, but out of Europe completely! Arsenal will clinch qualification to the knockout stages if they defeat Montpellier AND Schalke defeat Olympiakos.
Citeh vs Real is on Fsc The Lineups are :
Citeh
Hart,Kompany, Zabaletta,Nastasic,Maicon,Nasri,
Kolorov,,Silva,Yaya,Dzeko,Aguero
subs:Pantimilion,Lescott,Scott Sinclair, Javi Garcia, Barry, Tev
Real: Casillas,Pepe, Sergio Ramos,Fabio Coentrao, Arbeloa, Khedira, Skippy,Xabi Alonso, Di Maria, Benzama., Modric
subs :
Antonio Adan, Varane, Raul Albiol, Nacho, Kaka,Ozil, Callejon
I am thinking that we would want a Citeh win as an early exit from Europe would make it easier to focus on the EPL title.
They're off from the Etihad.
It's all Citeh possession early on, but Real have possession with a chorus of boos for Skippy on his return to Manchester
Now Real are playing like Barca.
I don't care much for the mint green shirts Real are wearing
I am sure UWS will be going potty in a few minutes as he will be on vacation.
Poor free kick from Kolorov is straight to Casillas and he punches it away when a pub side keeper could have caught it. How is he rated as one of the best keepers in the world. Not even good enough to play at ER!
My early impression is that Citeh don't have a bloody clue as to how the will unlock the Real defense.
Sergio Ramos receives a theatrical lecture from the Italian ref for a naughty challenge.
Dortmund have taken an early lead at Ajax. Good for Citeh if they can defeat Real. Now Real will have to win if they have any hopes of winning the group. Both sides will have to attack.
Di Maria has a shot blocked after taking too long to shoot then:
GOAL !!! REAL TAKE THE LEAD THROUGH BENZEMA! BLEAK FOR CITEH
It all started with a Real counter through Benzema as he and Skippy set up Di Maria for that blocked shot, then it made it out to the right for Skippy , who crossed for Benzema to finish easily at the far post as the Citeh defense were all caught ball watching
As things stand , Citeh would be out of Europe and wound have to win away to Dortmund have Ajax lose at Real just to qualify for the Europa League. In other words Citeh need to get their fingers out of their asses.
And Cithe haven't and Mancini is not amused as Skippy had a shot cleared off the line ,then blocked for a corner . Citeh blocked two shots off the Real corner.
Zabaletta was caught out of position from a long ball and Skippy with just Hart to beat, chipped , but Nastasic cleared off the line.
Group D is the only group with CL goals, but it's early doors.
Modric has a shot blocked for a corner as Di Maria crossed and Benzema laid it off.
Pepe heads straight to Hart off the corner from Skippy.
Casillas skips over a long range effort from Aguero after a great turn
Casillas punches away the corner from Silva, who had originally set up Aguero. Then a foul is called.
Porto take the lead over Dynamo Zagreb, the Group A doormats
Superb save by Hart from Khedeira, who was through on goal, then Citeh go straight up the pitch and Aguero wins a corner that is easily caught by Casillas.
Hart kept Citeh in the match as a second surely would have done and dusted it for Real
Arbroath take the lead vs Stranraer
Maicon shoots wide from a one with Silva, who set him up with a superb back heel. The Brazilian veteran should have made the keeper work
Better from Citeh in the last few minutes as they start to create a few chances.
Aguero gives it away cheaply imn midfield and they keep possession until Yaya is booked for a foul on Skippy. Yaya will be suspended for the match in Dortmund.
Modric tries to be cute off the short free kick and is easily tackled.
Great run down the right by Silva , but his pass for Jerko was a little too far behind and not controlled in the box.
I am home from work... FINALLY!!
Now Arbeloa talks himself into the book as Citeh win a free kick . This Italian ref does not seem like a conversationalist.
Too much swerve on the free kick as Kolorov curls it wide.
SO....Rafa Benetiz is the new interim manager of Chelsea!!! Why would he accept it if it is interim!
Welcome home, UWS. You must be pleased. CONGRATS!
He has been out of work for ages and I guess he will take what he can get.Something is better than nothing
RDM at ER? Your thoughts, UWS.
Dortmund double their lead!!!
I am off today and yesterday was our nineteenth Wedding Anniversary
I would take him before Warny
Real could end up being group runners up.
Congrats on the 19th... we will be at #22 on December 15th
Yesterday you and Bob were talking about Young Fergie at ER. He stole the idea from me. I gave him the idea Monday evening when chatting on Book Face. Naughty from Bob.I also mentioned Lee Clark as a possibility.
Did Chelsea get Rafa to make Torres play like he used to and not be a waste of money???
Thanks, UWS. Congrats to you and Kathy.
Naughty Bobby!!!
I doubt it, UWS.
An interesting wedding Anniversary and why not We were under lockdown for 45 minutes the last period of the day yesterday because of gun shots just off campus property. The students were kept in the classrooms ten minutes after school ended so they could receive a handout. Your thoughts.
Dortmund are three up!!
Matt picked Dortmund to win the whole thing.. they are his favorite...
"WALK THRU THE GROUP"
Dortmund now 0-3 up in Amsterdam
I am still not on board with Dortmund winning the whole thing, but they are a great team
2025:
Infostrada Sports tweets: "Real Madrid are the first team to score in 15 consecutive away matches in the Champions League."
Citeh heading out of the CL and perhaps not even into the Europa League.
WOW! A great achievement for real, but not good enough to win the competition
Ajax have never lost at home to German team... UNTIL TONIGHT!!
Did you see what I typed about us being on lock down yesterday?
It will definitely be a first for Ajax cleaner
I won't be around for the second half because we have an important appointment in Brownsville. Sorry, UWS.
I don't United to play the runner up of this group!!
Half time in Manc... I still want Citeh to come third!
Real lead 0-1 at the half and Citeh seem headed out of Europe.
Sorry for you to go
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving
Citeh have to win in Dortmund AND have Ajax lose to Real in order to finish third.Possible, but not likely.
Three losses for the Brit teams last night and another one tonight... and a draw
Same to you, UWS.Hope to chat with you this weekend. Hope you eat lots of turkey and stuffing( but not that of the Warnock variety)
PSG take the lead at Dynamo Kiev.
As things stand, Group A will be decided if the scores do not change. Porto and PSG are through and Dynamo Kiev will parachute to the Europa League. PSG vs Porto in tow weeks will be the battle for first and second.I would refer to see PSG win that group.
Both matches in Group B are 0-0 at the half. If both matches finish drawn then that group will be decided on match day six with Montpellier already clinching the wooden spoon and out of Europe.
Arsenal would need a draw in Greece in Olympiakos. Never a guarantee.
I am off . Cheers, UWS.
I had to bugger off and am back for the end of the matches
Arsenal won 2-0
1-1 at the Etihad... still going
Citeh still last with the group against the would be winners
It is over in Manchester
Dortmund have won the group! Real will be runners up
Dortmund have won the group in my book. They are three points up with one to play. If they end up tied, Dortmund win because they won and drew against Real head to head
Finals
Arsenal 2 Montpellier 0
Citeh 1 Real 1
Zenit 2 Malaga 2
Ajax 1 B. Dortmund 4
Anderlecht 1 AC MIlan 3
Dynamo Kiev 0 PSG 2
Porto 3 Din Zagreb 0
Schalke 1 Olympiakos 0
Group A
Porto and PSG have qualified ... group still up for grabs
Group B
Schalke and Arsenal have qualified.... group still up for grabs
Group C
Malaga and AC Milan have qualified... positions set
Group D
Borussia Dortmund and Real have qualified... positions set
Group E
Shakhtar have qualified.... Juve and Chelsea still in the hunt

Could be Celtic or Benfica... I would take that group runner up!!!
