The Savile Controversy Envelopes Auntie Beeb
In case you've been living under a rock, legendary DJ and Top of the Pops presenter Jimmy Savile - who we memorialized here on his death last year - is at the center of a developing child sexual abuse that's rapidly spreading through the BBC this week.

Any thoughts on this terrible story?

I just read the article and am saddened and sickened by what happened. It smacks a lot of Jerry Sandusky, but possibly even worse as this may have occurred over a much longer period of time and may have involved more children.I guess the victims reported him now that he passed away, but if police questioned him as a suspect in the Yorkshire Ripper case then surely they must have suspected him as a child abuser. I know that it was a different time , but that is no excuse and surely the Yorkshire Police must be held accountable. He was a cultural icon and I guess the authorities put that ahead of the welfare of the children.I hope they strip strip his estate bare and also get the Yorkshire Police Department for millions too. Life imprisonment for the police involved is a must as they abetted the disgraced Jimmy Saville. Jim Surely didn't fix it; rather he broke many lives.
