Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

RIP Clive Dunn (1920-2012)

Sad news yesterday as "Dad's Army" favorite Clive Dunn died at the age of 92. Enjoy some of these classic Lance-Corporal Jones moments.

Who do you think
You are kidding Mr. Hitler
If you think we're on the run.

We are the boys that will stop your little game
We are the boys that will make think again.

If you think old England's done

As I was saying to Bob yesterday,
He looked 92 when he was playing the part of Jonesey... he was 48!

Lance Corporal Jones was born in 1870 , so Clive Dunn was playing a character in his early 70s despite being ages 48 to 57 when the series was on the air. I must have been watching reruns as I lived in England from 1977 to 1983. Definitely a great loss. Also, a statue of Captain Mainwaring is in Thetford in the town square. I was not aware of that.

Crikey. If you'd have asked me I'd have bet only Corporal Jenks was still alive. RIP Lance-Corporal Jones.

Private Pike for sure as Ian Lavender is still alive at age 66. Private Pike would be 90, so you never know.
