Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good mrning, BD. We're off from Villa Park in the claret and sky blue derby
I'm at work but will try to follow along in the middle of doing data entry.
Good morning.
Fear the 'fro!
And we're underway at Villa Park.
Morning, guys! Great to have you on board.
Villa with the first chance and it's just wide by weimann
Are you "fearing the 'fro," this morning, MUR? ;-)
Weimann should have buried that one.
Good morning Someone. Looking forward to the late match
We definitely need to keep an eye on him. He has been a thorn in our side. He would look good in red, white, and black
Good morning boys
Chim chiminey chim chiminey Chim chim charoo
We hate both teams in claret and blue
Carroll the obvious target man for every Hammers attack today.
Carroll headed on a long free kick that was not cleared then he headed about an inch over, but Guzan had it covererd.
Good morning UWS. A big Mary Poppins fan
Both teams in a really wretched run of form, so there may be lots of goals. The winner is that much closer to being safe while the loser will be part of the relegation mire.
Morning, UWS - why would you be hating West Ham this morning? I'm all Hammers today - hoping that they give Villa a thrashing.
Weimann with a great run down the left and wins a corner off of Thomkins.
Me too.. I just had to point out that both these teams are the claret and blues... my apologize Johnny
Me too, BD> Villa win another corner , off of Joey O'Brien.Nathan Baker is down with a head injury for Villa,.
Mancini is saying that Joe Hart is making too many mistakes. I think he should kick out the door... to across the city!!
SO Jonno's favorite team is Bolton SE?
Sounds like a plan , UWS. I would like to see Hair Bear follow Hart.
Villa's problem is that they concede too many late goals. They have conceded three late leads that way. Any time that happens it's a recipe for disaster
Nasty weather
Wonder if it is the same in the Northwest?
I heard Hair Bear could be struggling to make the side today
Barca with another huge win as they defeat Getafe 6-1 , with six different scorers.Real defeated Sevilla 4-1 with Skippy getting a hat-trick
I wonder if my favorite Premiership team should be Leeds United South? A lot of familiar faces around Carrow Road these days.
That would definitely help United.
La Liga is tedious - every week Messi and Ronaldo score hatfulls.
A lot of industry but very little quality so far in this one.
Fellaini has a hip problem. We'll see if he passes fitness.
delph wins a free kick just outside the box as part of the LUFC Academy factor. Beneteke heads the long free kick out for a goal kick
Did I just hear Mark Clattenburg tell a player to eff off?
Delph was an early exiter. I think he made his move to a Premiership club at too young an age. He's never quite made the grade, whereas he was a superstar in League 1.
The usual ovation for Stan Petrov at the 19th minute.
Applause for Stilian Petrov. Classy.
BTW, I am not confident at all about today's game
I know this comes to you as a shock but United have been second best to teams far worse than Everton.
I hope we can gain some revenge for last season's very costly draw
I have heard Fergie has said that there will be two different line ups for today and Wednesday
Natahan Baker with blood from that earlier head wound. Relegation battles can be quite a headache.
When was the last time you were confident about a United win, UWS?
Everton's back four is sketchy, especially with heitinga in the lineup. He was toasted on all three Villa goals last week. Dreadful play.
Not happy with what SAF just said. Today's match is the more important of the two, IMHO.We have it tougher than Real
And yet another injury. This match is like watching trench warfare.
A battle of wits between two tough, wily Scottish managers
The Real fixture is a heavy lift, I'll give you that.
I had a feeling it would be , given the stakes involved.
Not it's a clash between Delph and Tomkins.
Thomkins is down . Villa have been the better team, but they conced too many late goals and seem to fade late in matches. That is they are where they are.
Demel in for O"Brien then - a straight swap early on for the Hammers.
Guy Demel in for Thomkins.
Correct, BD. O'Brien, not Thomkins.
By the way, United will still be a full 10 points up with even a draw today.
This is looking more like a Championship match than an EPL match
Crikey - I've seen more quality on a football pitch from the Fredonia women.
Roberto seemed resigned during the interview even though that may have been psychology on his part.
I am not confident about any match THIS season... we're just not that good... everyone else is worse!
I want the Championship more that the Champions League!
I sense that UWS is on the khazi muttering, "Where the quality?" to himself.
Well, you only have to be better than your closest opposition, who btw have a skipper who's side footing passes into his own net!
I think I have said this before but in the Premier League Era... United have only ONCE failed to win the title the year after they lost it!
lost it in 95 won it in 96
lost it in 98 won it in 99
lost it in 02 won it in 03
lost it in 04 FAILED to win it in 05
lost it in 10 won it in 11
lost it in 12 ?????
West Ham finally get into the area but Diame rockets a shot well wide at the near post when he should have been looking to cross. Poor.
Well, there you go, then - why be nervous? You're going to win the title, Mancini will get the sack in the summer. It's carnival time at OT.
I was in the loo, to symbolize how this match has gone. Did I miss anything?
Nathan Baker's got the Terry Butcher head wound.
The last time we failed to win the title they year after we lost it , who was the title winning manager? None other than the manger of our next CL opponent.
I'll bet there was more quality play in the loo in Harlingen than on display here.
IS it England's second city because it's the home to second rate football matches?
I think so. It was top rate in the loo. Pretty solid at the back!
Kadoomph from West Ham....again and again.
LOL, MUR!
The Hammers are recycling the awkward Emmanuel Pogatetz, with the early 80s hairdoo.
Ta, BD.
Each team with four shots on target , but most of those came in the first ten minutes.
Wow - the most shocking free kick routine I've seen for some time there from Vlaar. "Not the tastiest fare," says the FSC commentator.
As things stands , this favors Bolton Se because Villa fade late in matches.
And an equally poor corner by Westwood,as it fails to leave the ground , but makes it to Vlaar, who shoots wide as he seemed surprised to see the corner make ti to him.
A draw is perfectly fine for the Hammers - it's a must win for the Villans.
The Blades seem to have a decent youth academy :
Kyle Walker, Kyle Naughton, Matthew Loughton, and Reading just signed their top scorer.
Off to the magical couch early. I'll need a strong cuppa to get through the second half.
Since Villa concede late goals at the rate of the national debt, if it stays tied then I would predict a win for the Hammers
Go for it, BD. We need you for the late match
Villa counter through Nzogbia as Joe Cole cheaply concedes possession and the awkward Pogatetz is booked for a foul from behind. The Hammers regain possession.
BLOODY HELL! Four more minutes of this crap.
Bowry with a break for Villa that looked like it was from the Bowry
Pathetic long range effort from Andy Carroll.
BLOW UP REF!
Apparently, I have missed nothing apart from an awful free kick
That's it
Halftime and 0-0 as the fans like Yours Truly cheer that this awful first half has ended.
How did the Hammers do in the first half? No shots, No corners, no goals, but seven fouls.
Another half of that soon to come. Ugh.
Long balls by West Ham.. Big Sam has no regard for The Academy
Absolutely. They are no longer the Hammers , but have become Bolton SE.
The second half is underway from Villa Park. it can't be any worse than the first
Valaar heads out a typical long ball from the Hammers for a corner.
I'm back from the magical couch - some quality napping going on during the interval.
A poor corner from Joey Cole is easily headed away and Guy Demel prevents a break from Weimann.
Welcome back, BD. I think the fans at Villa Park were doing the same.
Carroll goes down in the area claiming a push. Nothing from Clattenburg.
Nathan Baker rugby tackles Andy Carroll in the box off a cross and run from Guy Demel . The replay shows that Carroll may gone down easily.
Which channel was your telly on? Kadoomph Central?
Bowoery heads out a cross from, Joe Cole for a corner as he should have left it for Guzan
A crap corner is easily cleared.
The second has been played strictly in the Villa half. I could see the Hammers nicking a win. Diame wins another Hammers corner.
A bit more pressure from the Hammers.
The corner from Noble is easily headed away, but Villa cannot get out of their half and concede another. Guzan with a clumsy punch from the corner and Villa defending for their lives. Finally saved by the offside flag.
The Hammers have dominated the early stages of the second half. Fat Sam deserves credit for making some adjustments while Paul Lambert shows ... Well that Villa have none. That's why they always fall apart in the second half.
weimann overruns it AYA style , but Villa have possession and Bowery wins a corner off of Winston Reid.
The corner eludes everyone. Then a cross from Westwood does the same as the Hammers now have possession.
Carroll controls along free kick from Thomkins, but is quadruple teamed.
Demel wins a corner off of Vlaar.
A decent corner is headed out for a Hammers throw.
Again, all Hammers, but they need to work Guzan
I can't take much more of this - surely the worst Premiership match I've seen this season.
Guzan punches out a cross from Demel then a shot from Kevin Nolan is blocked.
Darren Bent on for weimann and Simon Dawkins on loan from Spurs is on for Bowery
what took Lambert so long to bring on Bent? Was he waitinfg for an engraved invitation?
Oh - N'Zogbia nearly found the far post with that shot.
Bent with a chance seconds after coming on as he shoots just wide. That shows why he should start
Oh - off the line by Darren Bent from Carroll's effort!
I've stopped watching because Matt wants to see Sportscenter and Nortre Dame's 5 overtime win over Louisvillle
Nathan Baker heads out a long free kick from Mark Noble for a corner.
OH! The Hammers nearly took the lead as Darren Bent cleared off the line. He's doing it at both ends.
Ricky Vaz Te on for Matty Taylor. One ex Bolton player for another
welcome back, UWS. It's been a much better second half completely dominated by Bolton SE.
I heard Leeds United South drew 0-0- yesterday, but wonder if Becks scored on his debut?
An odd back pass from Nolan, but Benteke givers it right back to the Hammers. Beneteke is then offside . He does that more than anyone in the EPL.
Nasty foul by Nathan Baker on Joe Cole and he is deservedly booked.
Nolan heads over the free kick from Joe Cole.
Penalty to Villa! N'Zogbia hit the turf - stone cold.
PENALTY VILLA AS NZOGBIA IS TRIPPED IN THE BOX BY MARK NOBLE. A STONEWALL PENALTY
Benteke slots home cooly. Very important goal for the Villans.
1-0!
A goal, and Villa are in safety. For now.
GOAL !!! 1-0 VILLA AS BENETEKE SENDS JUSSI THE WRONG WAY AND FINISHES COOL AS A CUCUMBER FROM THE SPOT.
Missed the incident!
Benteke's finish was Barry-like
Villa out of the dropzone, then.
If Villa hold on then this would be a priceless three points and suck the Hammers into the relegation mix.
Fat Sam's response is to throw Carlton Cole on.
Carlton Cole on for Mark Noble.
I think the Hammers are reasonably safe as about 35 points should be enough to survive this season.
The Hammers can't get a shot off.
SHOOT COLE!!! HIT IT FIRST TIME... HOPELESS
I was thinking 37 should be enough.Other than QPR every time is in with a chance of survival
Winston Reid gets a card for dissent.
Winston Reid talks himself into the book as Kevin Nolan concedes a free kick
Great free kick!!
TWO NIL VILLA
GOAL !!! 2-0 WHAT A FREE KICK BY NZOGBIA.
GOAL! N'Zogbia adds a second goal. That should be enough for the home side to take all three point.
And another for Villa!
Fairly straight forward free kick over the wall and into the near corner. I do not know why goalkeepers cheat so far to their right
So Villa move out of the drop zone and Reading move back in.
These fans deserve a better team!
I have Google Earthed Villa Park on street view... pretty impressive place
I know I am boring but I like to find stadiums and look at them as I approach
Yesterday, I found The Dell... just appartments now!
Am I that stupid?
That will be Villa's first league win since winning at Anfield in December
Why didn't the Villa man get a yellow for the dive? Ridiculous
Simon Dawkins goes down under a challenge from Winston Reid, but Mark Clattenburg says nothing is doing, Dawkins should have been booked for diving.
Everton starting XI: Howard - Neville Jagielka Distin Baines - Miralllas Gibson Osman Pienaar - Fellaini - Anichebe
The Hammers need one back right now if they're to get back into this one. Cleared out.
Pogatetz won a corner for the Hammers off of weimann. It was easily headed away
Strong starting line-up for the Toffees. Is Jelavic out of favor right now?
I think the Stadium search is interesting , UWS.
This one's over - back to the couch.
Nzogbia down injured as Guzan pushes away a header for a corner.
thank you MUR
I'm guessing Jelavic is on the bench. He has lost his touch the last few matches. Anichebe's been playing very strong up front and has earned the start.
Sylla, a new signing and French under 21 international, is on for his compatriot, Nzogbia
Bugger.. HB is starting!
Agreed, Someone. Definitely a strong starting lineup and Hair Bear starting as expected. He wasn't going to be out for this one.
Did you see that Gazza was in the ICU after having a bad reaction to detox
Darren Bent booked for a foul
Gordon Bennett... an own goal by The Villians... not Barry-like but still an OG
Will Villa blow it again?
GOAL !!!! ASHLEY WESTWOOD HEADS INTO HIS OWN NET OFF A CROSS FROM JOE COLE.ANOTHER LATE ONE CONCEDED BY VILLA
Oh how a goal changes things
I did read about Gazza. What a loser!
Man Utd v Everton (1600 GMT)
BREAKING: Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney are both in Manchester United's attack. Marouane Fellaini is fit to start for Everton
Is Desmond on his way?
It seems as if SAF is making this match the priority over the CL match. The correct decision
Four minutes of stoppage time.
I think the defenders will be rested today. He wants a strong back four for rear guard action in Madrid
Pathetic back heel attempt from Carroll.
SHOOT!
kIERAN cLARK BOOKED AS IT GETS TENSE FOR vILLA.
Guizan gathers a free kick from Joe Cole, under pressure from Pogatetz
we sure need a strong back four vs the Toffees.
Into the last minute of stoppage time.
I agree but SAF has said he is using his full squad this week
Struth.. Nolan had a chance.. well saved
Corner..saved again.. last whistle!
One more thing
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Nolan has a shot blocked by Guzan for a corner as a cross by Demel was not cleared. Guzan pushes away the corner and Villa hold on to record a 2-1 victory over the Hammers. Now out of the drop zone.
Hope Bob didn't sleep thru the best part of the match!
Giggs starting
Not liking that one. Sounds like SAF is making the Cl match priority. Has he forgotten that late two goal that we let slip that cost us the title?
LINE-UPS - Man Utd v Everton (1600 GMT)

Pleased with the starting line up
I was worried after yesterday's result
Apparently, Moyes is not being considered for the United post... shame
FSC talking nice about Howard and then saying he has been struggling
He wasn't good enough for United!
Wynalda wants De Gea
Barton wants Howie
Wakey wakey BOBBY
After this match, United play QPR away, Norwich home, West Ham away and Reading home.... United need to make some hay
great video of United's youth champs... Butt, Neville, Neville, Scholes, Becks
Will United's midfield be strong enough today
Savage was there too
Ealges as well
Here go fellas.. hope Dr. Bob wakes up soon!
Late and significant setback for Everton as defender Sylvain Distin withdraws through illness. John Heitinga - who has been in desperately poor form this season - comes in.
Away we go... no 4-4 please... just a simple 3-1 er
Crap. Heitinga.
WAKE UP BOB!
Why did RVP go wide.. he had space
