Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I've got the Monday Night Football coverage up and running through First Row. It's got to be the best show of the week, with The Neviller doing the screen work that was pioneered by Andy Gray on the channel. What's genius about having The Neviller doing it is that he's played against most of the players that he's talking about. So when he's talking about a pass that Steven Gerrard has made, you know he knows what he's talking about.
The team news out of Villa Park tonight:
Villa - Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Bennett, Westwood, Delph, Sylla, Weimann, Benteke, Agbon.
Subs - Given, Bent, N'Zogbia, Holman, Bowery, Bannan, Lichaj.
Sunderland - Mignolet, Bardsley, O'Shea, Cuellar, Rose, Larsson, N'Diaye, Gardner, Johnson, Sessegnon, Graham.
Subs - Westwood, Kilgallon, Colback, Vaughan, Mangane, McClean, Mandron.
So, here we go. The home side about to get us started kicking off toward their favored Holt End.
As it stands, QPR and Reading were relegated yesterday after their dreadful 0-0 draw.
Wigan are on 32 points with four matches to play. After today, Villa and Sunderland will have three matches to play. A draw leaves Sunderland relatively safe on 38 points while Villa would still be in the mire on 35 points.
Newcastle are on 37 points with three matches to play, so Villa could drag both them and Sunderland back into the dogfight with a win today.
Oh - a ricochet nearly produces a comical first goal for Sunderland who have started the brighter. Guzan alert to the danger.
Oh - Brad was caught out there as Gardner nipped by him. The cut back was knocked out. Nervous times for Villa early on. Fans not happy.
Sunderland look like a team reborn here under Paolo's guidance. He's certainly making the trains run on time at the Stadium of Light.
The usual minute of applause for Stilian Petrov. Nice to see Paolo joining in.
Oh - Agbon latches onto a great dink pass from Benteke but he mishit his final effort and it trickled by the post.
GOAL! The captain Vlaar with a skipper's effort!
Villa 1-0 up!
It was a decent hit but from 40 yards Mignolet might have been expected to get to that one. Perhaps he was unsighted.
It strikes me that the momentum for Villa built after the Petrov tribute after a nervy start. I suppose that's the ultimate point of it.
GOAL! Sunderland are straight back in it through LUFC Academy boy Danny Rose.
Terrific approach play between Rose and Graham - the two Dannys. And a neat left-footed finish into the corner.
1-1!
So we're back to square one before I even had a chance to calculate the implications of Vlaar's goal.
GOAL! Weimann fires Villa back into the lead. This game has come to life!
Great interception by Lowton who then ran up the pitch and delivered a brilliant ball toward Weimann. His first touch allowed him to open up his body and caress the ball into the corner right-footed. Nice goal!
2-1 Villa!
Half time at Villa Park - the home side hanging on to a vital lead. As things stand, Villa would pull five points clear from Wigan in 18th and would be a win from safety. At the same time, Norwich, Sunderland and Newcastle would all be pulled back into the dogfight. Newcastle are only three goals better on GD than Villa while Sunderland have much better GD. Norwich are a point better on 38.
I'm back from a meeting with a student to see Benteke put Villa 3-1 up! A lifeline for the Villans.
GOAL! Benteke adds a fourth!
MUR will be delighted as Paolo looks down in the dumps.
I'm off to class. I'll be updating the PPP standings later tonight.
Didn't know anyone was on here tonight!
Villa wallop Sunderland 6-1!!!
That goal swing puts Villa above Newcastle!!!
What a night for the Villains!!
