Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

ESPN has missed the players coming out. The team news for this evening's match:
Spain: Reina; Azpilicueta, Albiol, Ramos, Monreal; Cazorla, Martinez, Silva, Mata; Torres, Villa
Subs: Casillas, Pique, Iniesta, Xavi, Fabregas, Pedro, Soldado, Busquets, Arbeloa, Jordi Alba, Jesus Navas, Valdes.

Subs: Meriel, Wagemann, Faatiarau, Teaonui Tehau, Atani, Aroita, Lorenzo Tehau, Tihoni, Simon, Vero, Hnanyine, Samin
So, as expected, Spain name their second string, i.e. the one with all their Premier league players.
All set for the start. The Tahitians seems happy just to have the opportunity to kick off against the World Champions.
From the kick-off, the Tahitian captain hoofs it out to touch.
David Villa is just caught offside. The Tahitians trying to play a high line - could be deadly for them.
GOAL! El Nino nets the first of many goals for Spain this afternoon. A quick one-two between Mata and Torres and the keeper laughably fails to cover his near post.
1-0 Spain!
The home crowd in the Maracana have definitely taken the Polynesians to heart after all of that rowboat celebrating from the other day. They're cheering on every attempt to get over the half-way line.
Oh - Torres sends a lovely ball over that the keeper Roche just about tips away from danger.
Gooner and I were noticing the other day that these new Spain kits are a wee bit presumptuous in including a medal sash in the shirt's design. The only thing missing is the winner's medallion. Are they taking the piss?
The fizz has gone out of this match early doors.
Torres tries a snapshot but didn't quite connect with it.
These are all second string Spain players who should be trying to really push it in order to make it into the first team. However, they don't seem to be enjoying the occasion.
Tahiti somehow manage to get a foul somewhat near the Spain goal.
Vahirua, the one professional player in the squad, takes it and fires straight into the wall.
GOAL! David Silva adds a second goal for Spain.
Lovely combination between David Villa and the on-rushing Silva.
GOAL! A very quick third goal from Torres!
The Tahitians high line killed them there. Torres merely had to run onto the through ball from Mata and dink the ball over the falling Roche and tap it in.
3-0!
First corner kick to the Tahitians!
GOAL! David Villa, after having just missed a sitter, responds in the right way by netting Spain's fourth.
Silva beat the ludicrous Tahitian offside trap out wide left and fed the ball through to Silva for an easy tap in.
Spain 4-0!
We're barely back from out of the tunnel and David Villa has added a fifth goal. It was created down the right through Arsenal's Nacho Monreal who whipped a lovely ball in for Villa to tap home.
5-0!
GOAL! El Nino completes his hat-trick!
Jesus Navas comes off the bench to round his fullback and pull back a beautiful ball to Torres. Every one of these goals has had a training pitch quality to it.
6-0!
Torres becomes the first non-Brazilian player to score a hat-trick in the Maracana.
GOAL! David Villa completes his hat-trick, thanks largely to a howler from the keeper Roche.
Simple through ball breaking the high line once again. Roche should have been able to smother it but he allowed Villa to run through and tap home the easiest goal he'll ever score.
7-0!
Nice gesture from Torres helping up the deflated looking Roche.
GOAL! Juan Mata adds the eight, with another training pitch goal.
8-0!
Still over twenty minutes left - Spain could easily hit double figures if they wanted to. Credit them for continuing to push for goals.
Roche somewhat redeems himself with two good saves in quick succession from a Villa free kick and a Cazorla drive.
Penalty to Spain!
Torres to take....and he misses!
GOAL! Now Torres does have his fourth!
9-0 Spain!
Torres has now equaled Butragueno's record of four goals in a tournament match for Spain.
And Spain have equaled the record largest goal difference in a FIFA tournament match.
Still time for Spain to get their tenth. I'd love to see it.
GOAL! Spain hit double figures!!!!!
Silva with his brace. Largest goal margin in FIFA tournament history!
Into stoppage time now...
Hard to take any lessons out of this match for Del Bosque, but how can he continue to leave out both Villa and Torres given their performances today?
That's it - a 10-0 thriller!
And that's all the coverage from me today of one of the biggest mismatches you'll ever see in world footie. Over and out.
Good afternoon, Bob. Will you be around for Uruguay vs Nigeria?
