Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Fox Soccer Channel is Dead!

The end of Fox Soccer Channel, our televisual home for the Beautiful Game for the past decade, is nigh. The suits at Fox have announced that as of September a new channel called "FXX" committed to comedy programming will take over FSC's slot in the digital cable universe. Here's the confirmation:

Your thoughts, gentlemen?

Thanks for the post. Definitely a significant development. Once Fox lost the bid to televise BPL matches then they basically lost the majority if their time slot. I still thought they had the rights to televise the Champions League and Europa League. So, who will televise the Champions League and Europa League? Will the CXL revert back to ESPN? I guess the Europa League is still up in the air?
Last night, Arlo White stated that NBC will televise EVERY Prem match live. I guess that would be the local NBC affiliate, NBC Sports, BRAVO,CNBC, and MSNBC. Telemundo has a NBC logo so that would be six and there is SHNBC which is a QVC type channel, but that doesn't sound like a channel devoted to sports. Did I miss any channels? So if more than six matches are played at a time then that is not possible. Also, who broadcasts the FA CUP. It was FSC, but prior to that it was PPV. I hope we don't go back to that.
Finally, a selfish point of view. I guess I may be saving $10 a month by not having FSC+ any longer. So the Gold Cup will be the last footie broadcast by FSC. I have rambled on enough. Time for others to chip in.

I think probably a number of those BPL games involving middle of tha table less attractive clubs will be broadcast online, no?

I'm sorry to see FSC go. They were willing to bank on the US appetite for the game and it doesn't seem right that just as it's really getting traction here, they're out. The good thing about all the BPL games being broadcast is that Kyle Martino can't possibly do more than 2 a weekend. Though there's plenty of room for some other numpties. Step forward the unintelligible Ian Wright. How did the Merse or Sniffer or Bergkamp ever understand him when he yawlped for the ball?
