Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The All Star Game has been switched to ESPNNEWS due to some stupid baseball game.
it's on ESPN2 now
Cheers UWS. I was getting confused. Thanks for clearing that up.
oh dear... the ref has a mic and camera with him today!
Good evening UWS. How have you been today?
I was at this match two years ago!
MUR, was it three for you?
I hate when they do that. I will be watching in my bedroom during the first half, but will try to chip in with a few comments. Elizabeth and Jacquelyn are watching "America's Got Talent."
That is correct UWS. Watched Man United win 5-2 in Houston.
I am good
A busy day today in the backyard of the new house
Will you be around for Everton vs Juventus on FSC after this match?
I watched United crush the All Stars 4-0
Was it Chelsea last year?
Hiya boys. What in Gods name is that ref wearing and can somebody please put a stop to it immediately
You and Bob have a busy summer getting the new houses ready. I bet you will be relieved when you are done. I stayed inside most of the day because it was so bloody hot.
Hello Gooner. How have you been?
got some kids here watching the match...i think I'll be here
Great to hear. I think the match from San Fran will be a decent encounter. Looking forward to it.
Hey Gooner.. yes,.. the ref has a mic and camera!!
Ticketyboo MUR. Looking forward to seeing Le Roi, you know him as TH14, putting the Romans to the sword tonight
Yes. It's TH 14, not Le Roi. I wouldn't mind that or will it be Michael Bradley teaching the supposed All Stars a lesson?
Looks like I will be in the bedroom for only thirty minutes. Better than an entire half.
Put a stop to it please. We can't have goaline tech but we can have some muppet refugee from a 10 year olds laser tag party. I hate football sometimes.
Every time I see Roma... I just think SEVEN-ONE!!!!
I was in England at the time.. Portsmouth in fact... great night
Oh dear.... OG.. ONE NIL THE ROMANS... WHAT HAVE THEY EVER DONE FOR US??
GOAL !!!! 1-0 ROMANS AS STRUNHAR GOT BEHIND THE MLS DEFENSE AND COLLIN ATTEMPTING A SLIDE TACKLE PUTS INTO HIS OWN GOAL!
Off side on a second Roma goal.... I want to see the Ref's view!!!
It's TOTti not TOEti
Superb through ball by Totti past the porous MLS defense as Tallo forced a save from the keeper and the rebound was put away , but disallowed for offside.
That didn't take long. One nil to the Romans. The MLS boys looking pretty ragged. Totti may have to make room in his man bag for that silly trophy
Great pass by Totti... shot hits it wide
Another superb through ball by Totti and Forenzi shoots just wide with just the keeper to beat. Should have been a second.
On this evidence if a few DC UNITED players had been selected it couldn't be much worse. Melanie has just handed me some fruit salad so it's silent running from me for a while
Looks like Bale is off to Sunny Spain...
Can he and Cristiano play in the same team?
Come home Ronny... come home
The Ref Cam has made an appearance
Toujours Le Roi, UWS.
UWS outstanding Python reference. Aqueducts.
MLS are 7-2-1 against European competition... only two losses... to MANCHESTER UNITED!
About time Arsenal come Stateside
Roads
ta
Speaking of Ronny... he is throwing out the first pitch of the Dodger Yankees game tonight in less than an hour
Bet he throws underhand! Yes, I would love a stateside Arsenal tour.
Why don't they?
Matt says he has the best First Red Card of the season
Roma are playing Chelski at RFK. My DCU crew and I are going.
A trip to RFK on August 10th for Gooner to watch Chelsea vs Roma?
I wasn't aware that ESPN2 showed Citeh defeating Milan 5-3 in the Audi Cup. Anyone up for some Audi Cup action tomorrow afternoon?
Nice Steve
Chicken Balzaretti was offside as Totti put in a great cross.
Linesman not the ref should have the camera on !
Well offside there
The ref will look a real numpty if he got that offside decision wrong early in the match since he is wearing the ridiculous head gear
Anyone up for Audi Cup action tomorrow from Munchen? The third place match is on at noon and the final at 2:15.
I know Gooner despises Ian Darke, but is he really any worse than Taylor Twellman?
hate TT
Taylor Twellman can't get over his failed trial at Palace or wherever it was. Give it up.
I just showed Jacquelyn the ref with the stupid camera. She was speechless,
I think TT would have failed at a trial Cambridge United.
Horrible free kick from Brad Davis easily caught by De Sanctis.
Collin concedes a corner off a cross from Chicken Balzaretti.
Another corner as there will be one minute of stoppage time.
Halftime and a deserved 1-0 lead to Roma.
Half time
Twellman is an addled ex pro who can barely speak his native language. Darke was a pro but spoiled it by showing up to every game with a completely filled out narrative, Ferguson wily, Stoke plucky, Bale unstoppable, etc and whether it played out that way or not he would hi light only moments that supported his storyline. He was always browbeating Macca to agree with him. Football doesn't need some amateur fiction writers idea of drama to be interesting.
Pathetic excuses from Lexi. I am tired of hearing that these players don't play together. If they are really All Stars they would work around that.
Turning it off to watch Ronny underarm it
Damn... missed it!
Well stated and a perfection description of TT. I have a felling Ian will pop up somewhere. He is a survivor. He should be around next summer for the World Cup.
You can watch Ronny play tomorrow evening in Phoenix vs the Galaxy. It will be called The Flight of the Phoenix.
Sorry boys, all the computers are being used and my smart phones battery is on fumes. I'm checking out now. Nitti-nite
So did Ronny!
Twellman Twitt. Is that Ian Darke's style?
Good night Gooner. Great chatting with you.
The Ref Cam is idiotic
The second half is underway.
Damn... missed it!
Two nil Roma!
GOAL !!! EASY PEASY AS FLORENZI SCORES EASILY OFF A CROSS FROM CHICKEN BALZARETTI. COREY ASHE BURNED YET AGAIN.
I heard that during TT's failed trial at Palace that a Palace player offered to take him down to the pub for a pint . TT stated that he didn't fail like donating blood. Your thoughts?
Panjic booked for a foul on Landy just outside the box.Poor by Panjic having words with Landy.
The Romans eventually clear the free kick from TH 14.
Jack McInerney on for TH14. Gooner will not be pleased.
What a great save by De Sanctis from Landy after a horrible defensive error from the Romans.
Now Magee volleys straight at De Santis as a cross from Collin was headed out.
Actually it was Bogdan Labont with those saves as he came on for came on for De Sanctis.
GOAL !!! 3-0 ROMA AS JUMIOR tARRO EASIL SCORES.
Beautiful slide rule pass from Bradley for Strootman and Tallo scored with a deflected effort from close range.
Roma have been teaching the supposed All Stars a lesson. They have been putting on a clinic.
Rimando easily saves a header from De Rossi off a free kick from Totti.
Marquinho booked for Roma, but it was the reaction of Magee that got him booked. The MLS team is starting to pick fights as they become frustrated.
Totti is subbed by Ricci and the MLS players will be glad to see the back of him.
Omar Gonzalez heads in a consolation goal off a free kick from Camillo, for the MLS All Stars.
Omar Gonzalez heads in a consolation goal off a free kick from Camillo, for the MLS All Stars.
It's over and a comfortable 3-1 win for the Romans.
I am know on FSC as it's five minutes into the match at Candlestick Park between Everton and Juve.
Juve in the unusual yellow shirts and blue shorts.
GOAL !!!! 1-0 EVERTON AS JAGS GETS THE SLIGHTETS OF TOUCHES OF A FREE KICK FROM pIENAAR. POOR JUVE DEFENDING.
The goal was disallowed for offside as Jags made his run about a second too early. A great idea off the free kick
It's a baseball filed transformed to a footie pitch. Really obvious.
Halftime and 0-0 from Candlestick Park. Everton nearly scored a couple of minutes before the break as a deflected free kick from Kevin Mirallis was headed on to the post by nineteen year old John Stones. Also Jags had a goal disallowed from a free kick early doors. It's a pro Everton crowd.
GOAL !!! 1-0 EVERTON AS KEVIN MIRALLIS BEATS THE JUVE RESERVE KEEPER AT THE NEAR POST. ANICHEBE WON THE BALL IN HIS OWN HALF THEN A LONG THORUGH BALL FROM DARREN GIBSON FOUND MIRALLIS WHO CUT INSID E A DEFNDER THEN BEAT THE KEEPER.AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY AS JUVE HAD DOMINATED THE SECOND HALF.
Leighton Baines is replaced by Bryan Oviedo the Costa Rican international and Leon Osman is on for Darren Gibson.
The winner of this match will play the winner of Real Madrid vs La Galaxy at Dodger Stadium while the loser of this match will play the loser of that match at Dodger Stadium.
Great close range block by Timmy from Arrturo Vidal off a pass from Llorente then on the next possession Tev has a shot come off the back stanchion off a pass from Vidal.
A roar of approval for Mirko Vucinic as he replaces the disappointing Llorente.
Great save by the Juve keeper from a header by Bryan Oviedo off a cross from Mirallis as Pienaar found Mirallis down the right on the break.
Pienaar missed a sitter as he was gifted a chance off a poor back pass as Anichebe flicked on a goal kick. Then Juve had a short corner and Timmy saved well from Tev then he made a superb close range reflex save from Vucinic.
A shot from Mirallis is pushed away for a corner as it was placed in a similar spot to that of the goal that was scored.
Jags heads straight to the keeper off the corner.
GOAL !!! 1-1 . ASAMOAH SCORES WITH A ROCKET IN THE TOP CORNER BFROM JUST OUTSIDE THE BOX, BUT HE WAS GIFTED THE OPPORTUNITY OFF A POOR CLEARANCE BY LEON OSMAN.
It should be a home match of sorts as the weather conditions in San Fran are similar to those in Merseyside.
Ogbonna , who has repetitively fouled Anichebe, is finally booked. Some boos for Tev as he is replaced by Allesandro Matri. Tev is not popular in San Fran/
If this match is drawn at the end of regulation then it goes straight to penalty kicks. No ET.
Ross Barkley on for Anichebe.
A rocket from Ross Barkley is right at the keeper, but pushed away for a corner.Taken short and the ref doesn't play any stoppage time, so it will be a penalty shootout.
The penalty shootout is about to begin as it finished 1-1 in regulation. Everton to go first.
Storari saves from Leon Osman
1-0 Juve as Matri scores a great penalty, sending Timmy the wrong way
1-1 as Ross Barkley scores a great penalty right in the corner.
An idiot runs on to the pitch and he can't even scores from the spot as he shoots tight at Timmy.
2-1 Juve as that doesn't faze Asmoah who scores a perfectly placed penalty
2-2 . A superb penalty by Mirallis, sending the keeper the wrong way
3-2 Juve as Vucinic places the penalty in the corner.
3-3 as a nice penalty by Jags is in the corner , sending the keeper the wrong way
4-3 Juve as Vidal scores, sending Timmy the wrong way
4-4 as Bryan Oviedo scores right down the center , fooling the keeper.
WOW! Pirlo of all people shoots wide from the spot, which would have won it for Juve.
5-4 Everton as John Stones scores a cheeky penalty in the upper 90, fooling the keeper.
5-5 as Lichsteiner scores a rocket in the upper 90
6-5 Everton as Seamus Coleman sends Storari the wrong way
Timmy saves a penalty from Peluso and Everton win 6-5 on spot kicks. The Toffees will play the winners of Real vs the Galaxy in the next match while Juve will play the losers of that match in the losers bracket. Both of the matches in the next round will be at Dodger Stadium.
That's it for me . Over and out.
Sorry I missed the party tonight, lads. I was hosting a small get-together here at The Cottage. Looking forward to chatting with all of you on Saturday morning.
Sorry I buggered off.... I was doing stuff and never got back to the computer and then went to bed
