Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Morning, MUR! Thanks for the post. An Action Packed Sunday, indeed. Looking forward to it.
Hello Bob. It is great to enjoy the pleasure of your company. They're off from CR
Morning boys
Sotton vs Swansea has yet to start on my NBC link
Rebecca stats the day saying that we are in the English county of East Anglia.... know your stuff Becky!
I think the NBC link in true form will be about two minutes behind.
Of course, I can't get NBC legally' on the computer
It was interesting to see Jose in the tunnel patting each of his players on the shoulder as they walked out. I wonder if he does that before every match or whether this was a special occasion.
Nice picture of Norwich/Chelsea emblems by the way MUR
Good morning UWS. Poor by Becky indeed. A real blooper.
Ta, UWS. I thought it would be something different.
Ba takes a tumble over Bassong but the ref has no respect for that at all. Should have booked him.
A dive there by Ba... when the players ACT it shouldn't be called
CHelsea score!
1-0 Oscar
BUgger
GOAL! Oscar buries the first chance!
Well set up by Ba
Did that touch his hand
BA went down easily in the box but it was a great tackle by Bassong.
THE GOAL!!! CHEL;SEA TAKE THE LEAD THANKS TO A GREAT FINISH BY OSCAR
Long ball out toward Ba, whose first touch wasn't great but with his second touch found Oscar in space who rifled it in with the inside of his right boot.
0-1 Blues!
Tony picked Liverpool yesterday so he is one of a few that are left in his pool. A couple picked Chelsea today... he is a Canary today
I DIDN'T think it touched Ba's hand , but a great assist. He's making a great case to be Jose's number one striker.
Sotton vs Swansea is three behind. You are better off with the ITV link.
Ba and Bassong looked like they were square dancing.
Great run and tackle by Leeroy Fer, but the final pass was poor by the young Dutch player
The two Robbies said that Gus is favorite to take over at the SOL. Any thoughts on that.
Gus would be a good pick. He was Dennis Wise's assistant while at Leeds and I'd always wished that he's stuck around once Dennis left.
Oh - Ba nearly put the second in there. Ruddy did well to tip around.
Great save by Ruddy from Ba to turn around the post.
Poor corner from Lamps , but Sideshow had a shot saved b Ruddy.
My opinion: He's not the best choice as he's never had ay Prem experience as a manager. Will he be another PDC?
A lull in both matches. Sotton dominating possession at St. Mary's , but not testing the keeper.
GOAL !!!! SOTTON TAKE THE LEAD VS SWANSEA. A CROSS WAS NOT CLEARED AND AFTER SOME CHAOS IN THE BOX, ADAM LALLANA SCORED FROM A NARROW ANGLE WITH A GREAT FINISH
GOAL !!!! SOTTON TAKE THE LEAD VS SWANSEA. A CROSS WAS NOT CLEARED AND AFTER SOME CHAOS IN THE BOX, ADAM LALLANA SCORED FROM A NARROW ANGLE WITH A GREAT FINISH
Poor free kick from Shlevey easily cleared.
I don't think that Gus is as volatile as Paolo. I think he could do reasonably well at Sunderland.
I've just noticed that Soton are up to 4th with that goal - crikey!
OR is it GULP! Great point about Gus. Bet you wish he was at ER.
I do - he had started to really do something with the side before he was lured away.
I am back
Just doing things around the house
Boruc does well to block a header from the helmeted Michu
Another great save by Boruc as the Swans are starting to get into this match
By the way, I have some news
I think we sold our house!!
It is a little lower than what we asked but it is for CASH!!
Of course, I don't get much of the money because I have to pay off the mortgage but I think it may be done!
They are having an inspection tomorrow
Agreed with you . Leeds did better when Gus was there
well done, UWS. I am delighted for you and your family. Definitely cause for celebration next weekend.
Worm did well to push away a rocket of a free kick from Rickie Lambert
Boni has a shot deflected and comfortably saved by Boruc.
I'm not at all convinced by Rickie van Wolfswinkel. Surely Becchio would have been a better option?
Chico Flores heads well wide from a free kick taken by Shelvey
Not sure about that, but the Wolf and the Side Show don't seem to be the best of friends.
Finally got a link for St. Marys just as Swansea hit the inside of the post but bounces out
I really dislike Southampton not wearing the red and white stripes
OH! Off the post by Nathan Dyer as the Swans nearly tied it up.
It is really strange as we the stripes are their traditional colors.
Speaking of colors, I'm not sure why Chelsea are wearing white rather than blue - surely the blue would be more of a contrast with yellow, no?
wide by Tettey from outside the box.
I agree. I am not sure why Chelsea are wearing white. Trying to sell extra jerseys?
A few years ago, they were celebration a 100 years or something like that and wore all red all season. They went back to stripes the next year. The following year they went back to red with very thin white pinstripes and now they are all red!
Bonne almost ties it up but a great save by the keeper
Ridiculous!
Norwich wear their colors at the Bridge... apparently they clash in Norfolk but not London
It must be the something in the Norfolk air, but I am not sure what it would be.
Did you see the picture of Woy as he appeared on Match of the Day?
The caption at the bottom of the screen said
Roy Hodgson
Premier League's all-time top goalscorer
A clearance by Side show from the halfway line went just over the bar, but Ruddy had it covered. One minute of stoppage time.
I missed it , but that is really hilarious.
Last chance saloon for Norwich.. corner...shot saved
That should be half
One added minute on the South coast too
Weird - isn't Alan Shearer the Premiership top goalscorer?
Half-time - Chelsea with that early goal. Off to the shower.
Michu with a headgear like Cech has a header saved... that is half too
Bassong straight at Cech after ping pong in the box off the Norwich corner.
Chelsea are one up at the half thanks to that early goal from Oscar.
I guess we can give the Beeb a pass.. Shearer was on the set too
NBC is about three minutes behind, but Sotton lead thanks to the goal from Adam Lallana.
After Januzaj(can't even it spell it yet) display yesterday, did you see there is talk that he is eligible for FIVE countries!!
Born in Brussels to Kosovar-Albanian parents
So... Albania, Kosovo and Belgium
He can also play for Serbia and Turkey thru grandparents.
Under FIFA regs, he will be eligible to represent England if he has lived here for five years after his 18th birthday!
WHY WOULD THIS EVEN MAKE NEWS FOR ENGLAND!
There is no way he will or should play for England!
The second half is underway from CR.
Second halves both under way
Second halves both under way
Almost from Ba
I agree. I am not sure who he will choose, but I am guessing that he will opt for Belgium
Close. The same just before the firs goal.
The article said that he is leaning toward ALBANIA!!
Norwich fans giving Joe Mou some stick after he complained about the Wolf's persistent fouling.
Surely Pilkington was fouled in the box after great work by Snoddy and Howson. Great advert for the MUFC and LUFC academies.
No comment from BD about the house news!
IS HE ALREADY IGNORING THE RED DRAGON!!
I wonder why Albania. I know he will get a ton of caps, but surely he must want to play in World Cups.
I commented. I know this will sound strange, but that is exactly how e sold our last house almost thirteen years ago.
West Ham in the bottom three... I didn't see that
I just learned something about the NBC link. if you refresh at the start of each half then you won't be behind.
I saw your comment MUR
Everything went ok with the it ?
They are thanks to that Fulham win yesterday. Johnno will not be pleased.
So, the link starts from the beginning when you join it?
Free kick chance for the Swans just outside the area
Over the wall
Over the bar
Yes. Like yourself, We knocked a little off he sale price, but got cash and was able to make the down payment for this house.
On the ball City
Never mind the danger
Over the wall
Over the bar
AGAIN
I starts at the beginning of the current half and I just realized that all I need to do is refresh
A free kick from shelve is about a foot over.
Just back from the shower. Sorry - I missed that earlier post from UWS earlier. I'm still recovering from a rather disastrous date with a colleague last night.
In any case, congratulations, mate - I know that's a weight off your mind. How are you going to spend all of that cash now?
Chelsea are the only side not to concede a second half goal this season in the Prem
Thanks BD
There will be no cash to spend! Still owe a couple of brothers for this house!!
Why was the date disastrous?
Great stat. I had not thought about that. That is why Chelsea are in third. Otherwise they would be mid table.
RVW goes a tumbling now appealing for a pen. Nothing doing.
Norwich almost in
THey want a pen too
Neither happened
How can a team be mid table??
oh.... forget that!!!
I keep on getting attached to these women here who are merely looking for friendships and don't really understand what a date is. To my mind, if you're out on a Saturday night at a fancy restaurant with a single, available person, that still means something.
Weather in Norwich MUCH nicer than ENY!!
We have had beautiful weather until today!
What's it supposed to be in WNY next weekend
I didn't think it was a pen. NBC a minute behind unless the second half started a minute later at St. Mary's
Sorry mate
Where is Becchio?
Is he still at CR?
Beckford, Becchio... why did they ever leave!!!
Sorry to hear that Bob.Sounds like the other woman was at fault and needs to learn what it means to date
Another great block from Terry there - from Pilkington this time.
Oscar is first into the book this afternoon.
Strangely the weather in ENY sounds like an accurate description for the weather in South Texas.
Sotton definitely second best at SM but still winning
I second that.sorry Bob.
Correct, UWS. it's as if they are playing to hold on to a 1-0 lead.
THE stats verify that. Sotton started with 59% possession and are now down to 45% for the match
Cheers, mate. Not much fun.
To answer your question it's supposed to be sunny and in the upper 60s in WNY next weekend. I sure hope so after the tropical weather we've been having
Sorry Bob. I know things will work out.
YES!!!
NORWICH SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Becchio is still on the Norwich books. He's only ever made 8 appearances for them, all off the bench in brief cameos. No goals yet.
Definitely on-side!!
Great news for Tony!
GOAL! Pilkington equalizes!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
1-1 AT CR AS A CROSS FROM OLSSON WAS HEAD DDOWN BY THE WOLF AND PILKINGTON SCORED WITH A HEADER
What a waste for Becchs
There goes Chelsea's second half stat
Bugger... free kick chance for the Blues.. whites... whatever!
Row Q please
Lamps to take... save it for Friday Frank!
Up he comes... off the wall!
Well done Frankie
Corner though
The wolf showing why he start ahead of Becks and Pilkington showing what he learned at the MUFC Academy. Not the smartest defending by the Side Show.
Corner cleared
If that cross was better... Norwich had a couple of players running in the box
Leeds get another mention
Agreed about Becks. he would be better starting for a Championship side.
Under 20 to go in both matches
Gary Hooper on for the Wolf. Like for like as the former Celtic player is on .
Eto replacing Ba
Five letters used for two strikers... must be a record
I don't think Ba did that bad
RVW troops off after another goalless match.
And another goalless goalscorer - Samuel Eto'o is coming on for Chelski.
Someone needs to point out the large rectangles at either side of the pitch to these two.
I tell that to my players....hit the big rectangle!
We always come up in these matches - Norwich basically took our entire midfield last season.
Becks really not preferred by Chris Hughton as the Wolf and Hooper were recent signings.Time to move on.
Good advice from a math teacher, eh?
Hazard on for Cashley.
Southampton score a second but it is called back
Sotton players celebrating at the corner flag but the play starts
Agreed. wolf did have an assist. Better than nothing.
I don't think there was a foul but apparently it was never a corner in the first place... I think the ref made up the foul to correct his error
Two wrongs make a right?
That's it exactly. Becchio must have known that he wasn't going to get a look in when Norwich bought both RVW and Hooper this summer. I suspect that he'll get loaned out in January, perhaps even back to Elland Road!
I just saw it. It is the right call as SOtton scored off a corner they never should have had to begin with.
In Tony's pool, Tony is one of only three left
Two, including Tony, picked Liverpool. The third chose Chelsea
Each week you have to pick an outright winner. Once you pick a team, you can't pick them again
I think Tony's strategy is pick the team playing Palace
Well stated, UWS. I agree 100%. I sure hop so, Bob as he will at least go out on loan somewhere
Great strategy from Tony.
Nathan Redmond on for Snoddy and willian, the Brazi signed from Shakhtar, on for Mata for a prem debut.
I heard a fact on Talksport yesterday while driving thru the Adirondack Mountains
Remy's two goals yesterday for the Toon made it 11 consecutive Frenchmen have scored for them! They tied Arsenal's record
The last non-Frenchman to score was Cisse back in April
CEch did well to push away a shot from Redmond as SIDeshow looked clueless
TWO NIL SAINTS!!
Rodriguez with the goal
Cisse not French, but from a French speaking country.
Bloody hell
Chelsea take the lead again... a long ball from a corner!!!
Chelski are back in the lead - Hazard with a goal from a quick break.
Terrible defending by the center back
A horrible goal to conceded as it all started with a ,long punt from Boruc and poor Swansea defending
Keeper should have saved it too!!!
GOAL! Willian has only just come on and he's scored a beauty!
1-3 Chelski!
ANOTHER ONE
Great goal by Willem
As I was typing, A howler from Ruddy off a shot from Hazard squirmed over the line and
GOAL 1-3CHELSEA AS WILLIAN SCORESON HIS DEBUT WITH A CRACKER OF A SHOT IN THE UPPER 90, BUT POOR DEFENDING FROM BASSON.
Ballhog Defoe starts against his old club
Blackburn take the lead at Wigan... a clanger by Carson
Where are the days of Clemence, Shilton, Park, Day, Corrigan!!
Chelsea UNDONE BY TWO GOALSIN 90 SECONDS. Both on the counter . Willian had a hand in both. He played a long ball to Hazard . Poor by Tettey not to clear and a howler from Ruddy allowed hazard to score. then a rocket from Willian off poor defending from Bassong
Into 4 added minutes at both grounds
One minute of stoppage time already played of the four.
Is the England match on Fox Sports 1
All three recent goals conceded were the result of poor defending
Yes it is.
Somehow a Chelski win always seemed inevitable to me this morning. I really don't like this Mourinho Chelski side, mainly because I think he's got a lot of talent that he's reining in.
Looking forward to watching Arsenal who are really flying at the moment and are fun to watch while it lasts.
Southampton into the top four as they beat Swansea
Chelsea up to third as the final whistle goes at Carrow Road
I am off for walkies in the Scotia drizzle
TTFN
Yeah - I'll be DVRing that one for us. I assume that we'll all be celebrating the Blue Devil win back at the Cottage with a couple of matches to watch and some pizza, wings and beer. Sound good, lads?
It's over at CR and Chelsea win 1-3 thanks to two late goals in the space of 90 seconds.
It sure does. Sounds like a Super Friday.
What do you mean "it sure does"
A Blue Devil win???
I DON'T THINK SO!!
LOL! Okay - let the best team win, eh?
The teams trooping out of the tunnel now at the Hawthorns:
West Brom: Myhill, Billy Jones, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell, Yacob, Mulumbu, Amalfitano, Sessegnon, Anelka, Berahino.
Subs: Popov, Morrison, Rosenberg, Long, Brunt, Lugano, Luke Daniels.
Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Flamini, Ramsey, Ozil, Wilshere, Giroud.
Subs: Vermaelen, Monreal, Fabianski, Bendtner, Miyaichi, Gnabry, Rosicky.
Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)
Fredonia
Overall
4-7
Conference
1-2
Corlland
6-5-two losses in OT
Conference
3-1
We can all see who is the best!!
Tom is still up and down with play!
He starts some games
Comes in on others
Doesn't play at all
Doesn't play very much
Very frustrating for him and his parents!!
THe match is underway from the Hawthorns
Away we go at the Hawthorns
Who do I want to win?
Arsenal would go EIGHT points clear of Untied with a win
West Brom would over take United in the table with a win
A draw maybe
Sorry to hear that. Hope Tom starts this weekend. Sounds like the coach isn't sure what his best lineup is halfway through the season.
I ran some errands and we had a strong front come through.Overcast breezy, and in the upper 60s.Will help me get ready for the trip to WNY
Got Spurs vs the Hammers on the link. A must win match for Jonno's lads.
West Brom and arsenal met ten days ago in the Capital One Cup and the Gunners won in a penalty shootout. I guess this one is ripe for a draw.
What are Steve's thoughts on the Arsenal season so far?
He must be thrilled
He must admit that the was wrong about Wenger and this group of players
West Ham haven't scored an away goal yet this season in the league
Gooner is thrilled and really surprised but he doesn't expect it to go on.
Yacob concedes a free kick just outside the box.
I can understand that but United won the league with a crap side... surely Arsenal can do it with a better one
Nolan heads over ac ross from Downing while the Gunners free kick was blasted over.
I tend to agree with the Gooner due to the Gunners' small squad and injury history
SUsusudio does well to save a deflected effort from young BErahino
Jussi saves easily from Siggy
Is Fat Sam on borrowed time?
Gibbs blasts over.
I think he may well be.
shoe problem with the Jaas
He is shoeless as his boot has been taken down the tunnel!
It is now returned... added time!
Sussuseudio struggles to punch away a cross for a corner. Arsenal counter off the corner from Amafitano
