Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Bolton are one up at Birmingham City.
The usual "Blue Moon" routine now before kick-off.
Morning, MUR - how are you, mate?
They're off from the Etihad. Will Everton remain undefeated?
Great . How are you Bob? Looking forward to the trip.
I want the blue team to win!
Morning boys
I am here!!
We'll... not for long! I am traveling off to Plattsburgh before the 10 o'clockers to watch Tom play
Here's a novel idea... both teams wearing blue!!
Timmy does well tot turn a shot from Yaya around the post.
Do I have your flight information for Thursday?
Everton break... shame the pass didn't find Bob's mate
The Chunk heads away a corner from LUFC then Everton break and a cross from McCarthy is cut out.
Morning, UWS - when are you in Fred-town?
Good morning UWS. Wishing Tom the best in scenic, upstate New York.
Oh - Kolarov with a cracking free kick that just clipped the post and hit the side netting.
Kolorov... hits one just wide!
I am not sure Bob, but I can email you the information. I arrive in Buffalo on Thursday at 3:35 PM.
Was a decent free kick from Kolorov.
Friday afternoon I would think. I have to teach on Thursday night so I can't leave then. May be leave here at 7 a.m.
A teacher at school told me that Lucille Ball was born in nearby Jamestown. IS that in Chataqua County?
Please do, mate. Yes - Lucille Ball was born about 45 minutes from here in Jamestown. They do a Lucy Fest every summer there.
It's a 3:30 pm kick-off, right?
How do you think England will do next week?
Can they win two matches and make Brazil!
PLEASE DO THAT!!!
I was wondering about the England side. If Rooney and Sturridge are available... they need to start.
As for the left back, Cashley is first choice with Baines behind... how about playing Cole at left back and Baines on the left side of midfield! People say Milner plays because he tracks back... Baines would do that!
Your thoughts?
Kolorov has a cross cut out by Coleman for a corner.
4 pm for Kick off... I think
It is 4
I think Fred Town vs Cortland is a 4Pm Kickoff. England vs Monte a 3 PM kickoff. U.S vs Jamaica 6: 30 PM kickoff.
So I'll be DVRing the match. You're all welcome to come back and watch at The Cottage.
Sounds like a marvelous evening.
I Saw the weather forecast. Looks rather lovely for next weekend.
It sure does. Looking forward to it.
Thursday night is our regular Trivia Night - are you ready to put your thinking cap on, MUR?
Odd goalkeeping by Hart. The Toffees were through and it last came off the Chunk for a goal kick.
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
YES!!
LUKAKU TAKES HIS CHANCE AND EVETON TAKE THE LEAD
Four in bloody four games - are you watching Jose!?!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
THE CHUNK FINISHES PAST HART TO GIVE THE TOFFEES THE LEAD. A LONG BALL OUT OF THE BACK AND THE CHUNK GOT EASILY BEHIND THE CITEH DEFENSE , BEATING LESCVOTT FOR PACE AND SHOT EASILY PAST HART.,
So, what are the plans for next weekend?
Who will be there?
WHo stays where?
One more and my boy will be joint top scorer. What a take there!
GOAL! Citeh strike right back through Negredo!
BUGGER 1-1
GOAL!!!!
CITEH TIE IT UP IMMEDIATELY !
NEGREDO WITH A NICE FINISH OFF A NICE THROUGH BALL FROM YAYA.
Great team play and a perfect ball through to Negredo from Yaya Toure.
1-1!
I'll be mostly out today, but it's game on in Manchester this morning.
Now I have a chance to answer your question. I am definitely game for trivia night. I am not sure how much I can help, but I will give it the old college try.
Hello someone. An exciting start to the match
I am staying at the Cottage to the best of my knowledge. I will be up from Thursday afternoon till late Sunday morning.
Morning, Someone - we're all supporting your Toffees this morning.
Citeh break and Negredo wins a corner off of Distin. The Chunk lost control of a pass in the Citeh box.
Absolutely, mate - I'll have it all set up for you. Luxury accommodations here at the Cottage. View of Sydney Opera House and all.
Milner has a cross deflect off McCarthy then the post for another corner. The next corner is cleared by Jags/.
Bad Kompany as the big Belgian defender is booked for fouling his compatriot, Chunk , on the break.
Ta, Bob. I really appreciate it. I will email the flight info this morning.
Nice one, mate.
Aguero is well offside of a through ball.
Ta, Bob. I was looking for an excuse to use that one.
I saw Bad Co. this summer at an outdoor concert series. Paul Rodgers is still in fine voice after all these years.
Free kick Citeh as Mirallis fouled Kolorov.
Wide by Aguero with just Timmy to beat off a nice free kick routine straight from the training ground.
That was an amazing set piece, Aguero should have finished that. Whew.
I bet it was a great occasion. I would have loved to have gone to that concert.
Bolton one up at Brum at the half.
The forecast is predicting sunny weather and highs in the upper 60s. I am looking forward to that as well.
Everton more than holding their own today.
Oh - what a lovely ball in from Barkley and Mirallas was just a touch off.
Nice save by Hart from a header by Mirallis off a cross from Barkley, but offside.
Perfect weather for a Blue Devil weekend.
Everton have a had a good record at the Etihad in recent years.
When are you getting into Fred-town, Someone?
Everton break off the corner from Milner and Mirallis is offside.
Bad Kompany has a bad injury now - might have to come off.
I will be there late Saturday afternoon. We're in Buffalo on Thursday night, going up to Toronto on Friday to see the Hockey Hall of Fame. Looking forward to the road trip!
Pelligrini and Brian Kidd , an interesting combo, in discussion, and the Chilean manager seems none too pleased as Kidd catches an earful.
Hate to see Kompany hurt again.
Nastasic on for Bad Kompany.
It will be exciting to see you and your family. Looking forward to it.
Sounds good - maybe we can meet up at Heenan's for a few drinks on Saturday night?
It's still wait and see about Dad coming up but I think Gooner is up for the trip regardless. He can't wait to get out of DC, given what's been going on there the last few weeks.
I know we'll be at BJ's the OMI for a short time, but I'm sure we can find some quieter time at Heenan's :)
I don't blame him and it will be fantastic getting to see the Gooner.
It's just that BJ's is off limits for faculty - and since it's my tenure year.... :-)
I am not familiar with those places, but it sounds like a great time.
back from selling a canoe!
Aguero with a poor bit of control - he doesn't look as sharp this season.
Who do Leeds have this weekend?
We'll see you at Heenan's then. I can't believe they won't let you have the wings at BJ's!
Aguero is either going to bury himself on the pitch or get a hat trick in the second half.
Is that another euphemism for your being in the bog, UWS?
BUGGER!!!
Matter of time for Aguero.
No, I actually just sold a canoe
GOAL !!! 2-1 CITEH AS AGUERRO SCORES WITH A NICE FINISH PAST TIMMY FROM A TIGHT ANGLE. SUPERB PASS FROM SILVA AS WE APPROACH STOPPAGE TIME.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
I think Leeds is away to Derby County, but it's not a derby.
Why would you have a canoe?
well done , UWs or is it blog in the bog?
Superb saving tackle by Jags on Aguero as he was through on goal or else Citeh would have been 3-1 up.
nope, canoe means canoe
The canoe story sounds like something from Monte Python.
no one replied to my 7:56 comment about England!
???
Hope the Toffees can sort it out and get something out of the second half. I'll be leaving about 9 to take my son swimming.
halftime
Good half of what I saw
The halftime whistle blows as Milner commits a nasty foul on McCArthy. He receives a lecture from the ref as he heads toward the dressing room. A strong finish from Citeh as they lead the Toffees 2-1.
I agree with you about England, mate. Two games and two wins to come. Baines should be starting ahead of Cashley IMHO.
Sorry UWS. There was so much action. I would think that England would have their usual starting lineup for the final two World Cup qualifiers.
He won't though.. then play Baines on the left of midfield... He goes forward all the time anyway
I agree, Bob, , but unfortunately It probably won't happen.
Kompany had to go off injured?
Lovely jubbley
Lowly Bolton winning at St. Andrews
Beckford has scored for Bolton!
When did he go there? What a waste for him to leave Leeds!!
Back for the second half.
Agreed, UWS. He must have gone during the last transfer window because he was with Huddersfield last season.
I meant to mention to all of you that Steve Caldwell's (AZ Kicker) brother Jim Caldwell died on Thursday. You may not have known him, as he was a bit older than us. LHS Class of 75.
Halftime I a west Country Derby and it's Exeter City 0 Argyle 0. What sayeth Bob?
I saw it on FB, and thought the name sounded familiar. I never knew him, but am sad about it.
Very sad news
I remember him as an older kid who was obsessed by cars - always under a car with grease under his fingernails.
OH! Nice idea as it was inches too long for Mirallis.
I heard a trivia question on the radio yesterday. I don't know all the answers!
Name the 12 stadiums with PARK in their name that has hosted Premier League games
I will start with Ewood Park
I am writing a list of the Parks... don't send any yet. I want to see if I can get 12
Okay, you gave me one!
How about Villa Park?
Sorry that was two. Does Car Park count? HEE HEE!
Knock it off... write you list!!
2 down 10 to go
I have 7 so far including the two that have been typed
8
Kolorov in the wars and none too pleased as he sheds blood for the cause off a challenge from Naismith.
Does National Wildlife Park count?
BOOM BOOM
I'm on a roll.
Probably not due to the government shutdown.
Clichy on for Kolorov.
Compiling my Park List as we speak.
Numpty!!
10
Me or the government, UWS ?
:0)
ive got 11
How many Bob
MUR has decided to make list of State Parks!
I am ready whenever we can begin.
Darren Gibson on for Leon Osman as that is plus one for the MUFC Academy. The Citeh fans are more than willing to remind us of that.
I'm hopeless - I can only get six without cheating.
COME ON YOU BLUES!
About the same for me. I already listed two, but that was before I knew we needed to wait.
Zaba has a bloody nose now.
More Citeh blood as Zaba has a nose bleed.
Clichy wins a corner off of Naismith. Nice pass from Silva.
A bit of light-hearted homophobia from the commentators about Zaba's changing his shorts.
The corner from Silva was far too high, buthe gets another chance and his cross is headed by Milner up and straight to Timmy.
I have got 11 without cheating but I can't get the 12th
5 are still in the prem
3 don't exist any more
don't know the ONE!!!
It sure amused the fans.
It sure amused the fans.
GOT IT!!!
Aguero has a shot come off of Distin for a Citeh corner that is taken short and cleared by Gibson.
Penalty to Citeh!
Pen to Citeh!!!
Bang goes the last undefeated record
NEVER A PEN
Bloody nosed Zaba goes down under the challenge of Seamus Coleman.
PENALTY!IT WAS? MINIMAL CONTAC BY COLEMAN ON ZABA, WHO WENT DOWN REALLY EASILY.
Very soft - but didn't Zaba sell it well?
Two Toffees talked themselves into the book.
Oh - Timmy nearly got to it but it crept in the post from Aguero.
STRUTH!!
HOWARD ALMOST GOT IT!
I think it went off Howard
Is that an OG
I say no
Is that Aguero's third of the season or a very unlucky Timmy o.g.?
GOAL!!! 3-1 CITEH AND CITEH REALLY HAVE LUCK ON THEIR SIDE AS AGUERO HAD A SOFT PENALTY PUSHED ON TO THE POST BY TIMMY THEN OFF TIMMY AND CREPT OVER THE LINE.
I was thinking the same. I think the dubious goals panel may deem it an OG by Timmy.
Bolton have a very needed victory at St. Andrews
2-1
Exeter City take the lead vs Argyle. Sorry Bob
True, UWS. I expect the Trotters to climb the table.
Oh - Naismith had a chance but he scuffed his shot badly.
Should we start answering the trivia question?
David Silva booked for a naughty challenge on Naismith
Superb long ball from Milner to Negredo and a superb saving tackle from McCarthy.
It seems to be given as a Timmy OG .
Ok, I want to see your lists before I post the answers
I am off to Dunkin Donuts soon so be snappy
Zaba booked for a foul on Baines.
Wahay - that Bolton win drops Not a Big Club into the dropzone where they belong.
It was a foul
I don't like those type of challenges always getting a yellow
He went for the ball but Baines moved it before he got there!
Shouldn't the trivia question be a separate thread on the LOB?
Shouldn't the trivia question be a separate thread on the LOB?
THere's not time lad.. no time!
Nasri on for Aguero for Citeh.
Here's mine:
1. Ewood Park
2. Goodison Park
3. Selhurst Park
4. St. James' Park
5. Upton Park
6. Villa Park
That's my lot.
Coleman booked for a foul on Silva.
That's the same list I had. Bob just pipped me.
I know I'm missing some obvious ones, so bring on the pain, UWS.
Do you want the answers?
You couldn't look outside the Prem!! (except for Ewood)
Milner offside as Timmy pushed away a powerful shot from Negredo.
Kone on for the Chunk. No chance for Bob's GBB to add to his tally.
Not yet. Still thinking, UWS.
Negredo is having a hell of a game. Marvelous cross field ball there to Silva.
Derby play at Pride Park and Bolton used to play at Burndon Park. Is that correct?
I tried but I was blanking on the names of those grounds.
There's Fratton Park. UWS will definitely like that response.
For example, I'm pretty sure that Blackpool play at a Park, but I can't remember it to save my life.
I think that's nine.
Oh yeah - Fratton Park. Of course.
Cardiff used to play at Ninian Park - does that count?
They play at Bloomfield Road, so that would not make the list. Nice try
No . It wasn't in the Premier Legue
Still in the Prem
1. Villa Park- Aston Villa
2. Selhurst Park- Crystal Palace/Wimbledon
3. Goodison Park- Everton
4. St James' Park- Newcastle
5. Upton Park- West Ham
Outside the Prem
6. Fratton Park- Pompey
7. Pride Park- Derby
8. Ewood Park- Blackburn
9 Boundary Park- Oldham
No longer exist
10. Roker Park- Sunderland
11. Ayresome Park- Middlesbrough
12. Burnden Park- Bolton
WAY HAY! Argyle tie it up at Exeter City
What about Bradford - can't remember where they play but they were in the in the Prem in the 90s.
oops, missed the NOT YET comment!
