FA Cup Fifth Round Sunday
It's a busy FA Cup Sunday as we start with Everton vs Swansea on FS 1 followed by Arsenal vs Liverpool at 11 AM on FS 2. The Reds thrashed the Gunners 5-1 at Anfield last weekend. Will the Gunners get revenge? Do they have the weapons in their arsenal or will they continue to shoot blanks? will Professor Wenger continue to be a specialist in losing? Will the Evil Blades prove that they are the bigger Sheffield club by being able to host Forest this morning? There is also the quarterfinal draw at 10:30 this morning. How can you afford to miss the action? Join me and discover the answer to all these questions.

Celtic lead St. Johnstone 1-0 late in the first half and it looks like the Blades are going to be the bigger Sheffield club.
Fox just flashed the weather conditions in Merseyside :
Sunny , 48 degrees and 7 MPH winds. Brilliant conditions for February.
A couple of changes for the Toffees as Joel Robles, part of the Wigan Cup team last season is in goal while new signing , 6ft 8 in Traore , is alone up front. Otherwise, a full strength Toffees side. It's close to a reserve side for Swansea, so one would favor the Toffees and their manager was the cup winning manager last season.
They're off from Goodison.
Roberto Martinez and Garry Monk were exchanging pleasantries as they were together at Swansea for many years and know each other quite well.
WOW !!! A chance for the Swans in the opening minute as the Toffees defense was caught square and Alvaro Vasquez had a chance to score his first goal for the club. He rounded Robles , but took It out too wide and was forced to square it back to Lamah who chipped it straight to Robles.
A free kick opportunity for the Toffees.
GOAL !!!! THE GIANT TRAORE SCORES HIS FIRST GOAL FOR THE TOFFEES. IT WAS CHIPPED IN BY ROSS BARKLEY AND TRAORE CREATED QUITE A BIT OF MISCHIEF AS HE HEADED DOWN THE FREE KICK. A JOKE OF CLEARANCE WENT BACK TO TRAORE AND HE WAS NOT GOING TO PASS UP THE GIFT AS HE FINISHED FROM A FEW YARDS OUT.
The defensive error was from former Arsenal trainee, Kyle Bartley.
Ross Barkley drags an effort wide off a great long pass.
GOAL !!!! 1-1 DE GUZMAN SCORES A HEADER OFF A GREAT CROSS FROM NEIL TAYLOR . THE FIRST TIME IN THE MATCH THAT SWANSEA HAD A SUSTAINED SPELL OF POSSESSION.
Off the bar from Pienaar. He played Baines down the left with a clever pack heel then received the return pass , shooting off the bar. Then Traore had a header comfortably saved by Tremmell.
Mirallis drags an effort wide of a pass from Coleman. It all started with a pass from midfield by Barry
Kyle Bartley is down, holding his hammy . A match he will want to forget as it was his poor clearance that resulted in the Everton goal, then injured in a challenge with Traore. He might come back on.
Tremmell blocks a close range effort from Pienaar off a defensive error from Amat. Then a close range header is straight to Tremmell.
Bartley is down again and that's it for him. A shame as it's his first match back for the Swans from a loan spell in the Championship. He is replaced by Ashley Williams.
Richards fouls Mirallis in the D
Celtic now two up vs St. Johnstone.
Tremmell does well to push away the free kick from Mirallis
Baines win's Everton's first corner of the match as Amat cleared.
Celtic now three up.
Barkley shoots wide from a poor back pass from Lamah
Two minutes of stoppage time
Neil Taylor lectured for a foul on Coleman
Jags heads on the free kick from Baines and Tremmell punches it away
Halftime and it's 1-1
Nathan Dyer is on for Routledge and that leaves only one remaining substitution for Garry Monk.
Celtic have defeated St. Johnstone 3-0.
A double substitution for the Toffees as Naismith is on for Traore and Leon Osman is on for Barkley
Pienaar heads just wide off a cross from Coleman after Coleman played a nice one two with Mirallis then
GOAL!!! NAISMITH, FRESH OFF THE BENCH GIVES THE TOFFEES A 2-1 LEAD.
Seconds after Pienaar headed wide, an innocuous pass from Barry found Neil Taylor and his horrible back pass was slotted away by Naismith past the on rushing Tremmell.
Mirallis misses a sitter as Coleman got free down the right andhis pass found Mirallis, who blasted over, unmarked in the six yard box.
Leroy Lita is on for Lamah. He hasn't played for anyone in ages.
PENALTY TOFFEES! AN EASY DECISION FOR KEVIN FRIEND AS RICHARDS TRIPPED NAISMITH IN THE BOX.
THE TOFFEES LEAD 3-1 AS BAINES EASILY SCORES FROMTHE SPOT, SENDING TREMMELL THE WRONG WAY
The Toffees seem to have booked a place in the quarterfinals.
Mirallis wins an Everton corner.
Jags heads wide from the corner taken by Mirallis.
Amat booked for a nasty body check to Naismith, which included a body check to the chin. That could have been a red on a different day
Some fisticuffs as Leroy Lita is guilty of a nasty foul on McCarthy and is booked for that. Cans has also talked himself into the book,
The final roll of the dice for Roberto Martinez as Delafeu is on for Mirallis.
Nasmith is now down, holding his hammy. He is off for treatment.
Hey MUR,
Sorry I have been a miss today
Lots of running around
The only match on my TV this weekend is coming to an end and it looks like the Toffees are in the Quarters for a second straight year. Last year, they got a home tie against Wigan… and lost 3-0!
I have a link for the match at Brammel Lane and for the Cup Draw.
I will find another one for the Big One… if I stay around
Here is a link for the Draw
http://falive.tv
He actually went down the tunnel , so the Toffees will be a man down the remainder of the match as they have made all their substitutions.
Good morning UWS. Thanks for the link
Roberto Martinez has been the winning manager both times. I guess he's the common denominator,.
Four minutes of stoppage time as Leroy Lita heads horribly wide off a free kick
4 added minutes
The Swans did score in injury time in the competition… against… I will not mention… they need two this time
I will be watching the big one on FS 2 , but will use your link for the draw and the match at Brammall Lane.
If I am around, i will need to see how far behind I am the TV
I am trying to forget. I don ;t see them scoring even one, not even against ten men
Here is the other match
http://cricfree.tv/live-football-streaming-c1.php
Hope you will be around.
Cheers mate.
Everton won the Cup in 66 beating Sheff Wed in the Cup Final…. both are still in the competition… we all know what happened in the following summer!
Everton in the hat
It's over and Roberto is in the quarters again as his Toffees have routine 3-1 win against his former Swans.
I was disgusted by the Sunderland public for the no-show yesterday.. they better not get another home draw!
I doubt the summer of 2014 will be a repeat of 1966 or1066. I think the Owls will show why they are Not a Big Club whether it be on a Wednesday or any other day of the week.
I was upset with Southampton's starting line up.. why rest your players… you're completely safe in the league… go for a TROPHY!!!
I agree with you on that on. Poor by the Black Cat supporters
STOP BURSTING MY BUBBLE!!!
so much for the North East passionate fans!
A similar situation for the Swans, but they have the EL coming up the next two weeks.
A similar situation for the Swans, but they have the EL coming up the next two weeks.
Still scoreless in the Steel City after the 25th minute mark
Bloody Fox… putting it in F2!
Sorry mate. I am the FA link and they are currently replaying the Red Dragons defeat vs Wigan
Forest take the lead
Thanks for the reminder. I will switch channels.
Glad to hear it.
Yup
They have been showing the goals from all the matches
The scroll below says it will start at 330 ish
It should start any second.
Stop rubbing it in!
Of course, Fox desperately show Shut Up and Drive!
STUNNING
Rob Lee and his son, Will will do the draw
Sounds like you giving driving lessons to Bob and teaching him how to be a Lane Disciplinarian
Here comes the Draw
Finally , the draw is on.
Don't get me going on Lane Discipline!
Will must be at least 6 FT 3 IN
Father and son of the Lee family
Rob and Olly
You would loathe South Texas.
Get on it
FINALLY
I picked Citeh vs Chelsea for the final. Not sure who I picked to win.
Arsenal or Liverpool v Everton
Another biggie gone
Brighton or Hull vs Sunderland… good they're away
Sheff Utd or Forest v Sheff Wed or Charlton
Man City.. bugger home… vs Wgan
Arsenal or Pool vs Everton
Brighton or Hull City vs Sunderland
Evil Blades or Forest vs Not a Big Club or Charlton
Citeh vs Wigan
fs 2 A MINUTE BEHIND WITH THE DRAW.
Arsenal or Liverpool vs Everton
another biggie gone
Brighton or Hull vs Sunderland
small fish in semi
Sheff Utd or Forest v Sheff Wed or Charlton
could be a Sheff Derby.. guaranteed non Prem team in the Semis
Man City v Wigan.. repeat of last season's final!
Every match has a story.
1) a possible Merseyside Derby
2) a possible return to Brighton for Gus
3) A possible Steel City Derby and the guarantee of a lower division team in the semis.
4 ) a repeat of last year's final
Forest still one up at Bramall Lane.
Morning, lads - I'm joining you for the biggie this afternoon.
I am off for walkies
Good morning Bob. Cheers UWS
I am sorry to say you just missed the draw for the quarters.
Bramall Lane in much better shape than Hillsborough was yesterday.
Two consecutive corners for Forest
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Forest lead 0-1 at the half.
Off for walkies now, UWS - the match is coming on!
Real implications in this weekend's Cup results.
Back for the big one.
Oh - Sturridge was fed by Gerrard beautifully and Sussudio stood up well to the shot.
Who do you like in this one, mate?
Flappy blocks a shot from Danny off a pass from Stevie. Kos heads away the corner from Stevie
The Gunners have a corner.
I think Pool will win this.
Im back from walkies… it's bloody freezing!
Do you remember who I picked to win the Cup. Was it Citeh or Chelsea?
I have a link going for the match
What is the time?
Sturridge in again!
Rounds Sussudio but puts it in the side netting. Great ball through that time from Suarez.
I'm at nearly 5 minutes, mate.
OH! Danny should have scored as he rounded Flappy, but shot into the side netting.
I have 5:15
You picked City with Chelski as losing finalists, MUR.
Are you on the TV or computer
Welcome back. You should come to Harlingen. It's supposed to be 80 this afternoon.
I think the draw was fascinating.. i just wish Citeh were away
Liverpool look absolutely brilliant - all over Arsenal.
I'm on the telly watching JOe Allen getting practically mugged by the Nacho man, who was booked for that
Allen laying down hurt
Am I way behind
They do look a great team.. I just wish it wasn't Liverpool!!
A return to Citeh for Uwe Rosler, the Wigan manager, who was a Citeh striker in the 90s.
I have BT link with Andy Gray as summarizer
They also have picture in picture of the bench once in while
The only PPPers left in the Cup are the ones who picked Citeh:
Blue Devil, MUR, Red Devil FCK1, and Someone Said.
Just got a lovely breakie delivered
Scrambled Eggs English Muffin Bacon and Sausage
The Evil BLAdes dominating early in the second half. One header cleared off the line and one shot just wide.
LIverpool are so dangerous on the break
Why?
PACE
ARE YOU WATCHING MOYES!!
Sounds delicious - Kate and I had some pancakes and fruit.
Great brekkies. You could have had it outdoors if you were in Harlingen
It's also because Arsenal's defenders are playing too high a line. There again, if Sisshoko's ball through to Suarez had been better, he'd have been in one-on-one with Sussudio.
Snowing here in Fred-town - I would have frozen my tootsies outside.
Kaulo Toure on the bench today after Wednesday's howler OG
He has a new first name.. it is sort of close to his brother
it is
HaHa Toure
Ta, Bob. I thought I had picked CIteh. Looks like it will be between me and the Red Devil.
Boom boom, UWS!
BOOM BOOM UWS!
Who were Leeds supposed to play this week?
Don't count me out yet, laddy!
JINX!
Forest - they're 0-1 up at the Blades right now.
Arsenal have clawed their way back into this one.
I knew it was one of the Cup teams
Was it at ER or the CG
I am using the link that UIWS gave me for that match
I hate the diving.. that was a foul but he went over like he was shot
GOAL
THE OX PUTS THE GUNNERS UP
Free kick chance now for Arteta to swing in....
GOAL! It's a bobbly one but The Ox stabs home the opener!
GOAL !!! OX GIVES THE GUNNERS THE LEAD!
aFREE KICK FROM Arteta was headed away then the return cross from Carzola was headed own and after blocked effort Ox smashed home.
That was made by the other Yaya who chested and volleyed brilliantly. Mignolet parried it and the Ox did the rest.
While I was on a walk, I was listening to Talksport's commentary on this match and they had the Tom Finney tribute. They first said it was a moment silence and then they started to applaud.. THEN.. each set of supporters starting singing THERE'S ONLY ONE TOM FINNEY… great by both sets of fans!
Did the TV show that?
It didn't get to Mignolet, it was blocked by Gerrard before it got to him
At the City Ground - I don't fancy it but who knows with our erratic form these days. One week we're brill and the next we're pants.
Well clarified, UWS.
Forest under half an hour from hosting a FA Cup Quarter Final tie against a lower placed league team to make Wembley!!
A similar reaction when Citeh played Chelsea yesterday. I was a minute late to this match
Suarez wins a corner.
Sturridge could become a Defoe… I think he is too much of a ball hog
Suarez isn't. He will pass it when it is the better option
Head tennis off the corner then the Gunners win a free kick
QPR and Reading are tied at 1 at half time
I need him to be a ball hog this season. I picked him for GBB
It's true - Sturridge needs too many chances to score.
Sturridge?
Sheffield United have tied it up!!
The keeper spilled the ball
GOAL !!!! THE EVIL BLADES TIE IT UP.
Bugger!
Terrible by the Forest keeper!
Yeah - MUR and I both picked Sturridge.
Bob, you and Kate could have had brekkies outdoors this morning if you were in Harlingen
Just over 20 minutes to go at BL
Why not have Sheff Utd keep going
A third tier team to the Semis?
So busy with the Cup, they get relegated to the fourth tier!!! Let's go Blades
Forest have a free kick just outside the Blades box.
THe Blades keeper does well to tip over a free kick by Andy Reid.
GOOD point, UWS. Blades manager, Nigel Clough, was in the last Forest team to make it to Wembley
1991
POldi wins a Gunners corner
And 1990
Pleased to see Goodison, Bramall and the Emirates full of people
Are you watching you Sunderland muppets
A possible Steel City Derby in the quarters, which will be played the weekend I go on Spring Break
It's true - it would have been nicer to be in Harlingen today. But I wouldn't trade an August day in WNY for an August day in your sweatbox.
Not in the FA Cup
It was United Palace in 1990
They did make the League Cup Final in 1992. United beat them to win the trophy for the first time.. and then blow the league to … no comment
Put a sock in it, UWS!
They are away in the quarters. A possible return to Brighton for Gus and along road trip is their consequence
About what
Don't you want the Blades to get relegated?
I meant that he was at Wembley in 1990. They beat Oldham in the League Cup Final.
Forest creating a lot of chances right now
15 to go
Flamini with a typical booking as he fouls Stevie G
Very true Bob. August and July are tough months.
I will be a miss next weekend
Oh - I thought you were saying that you wanted the Blades to win.
I just can' t wait for this winter to end!
15 inches on Thursday into Friday… a second snow day. Didn't really want one because I already have this upcoming week off for winter break
well over by Poldi
We've got the early match next weekend.
I did, so they would be busy in the Cup and get relegated in the league
Yeah - I'm pretty over this winter. It's basically destroyed by beloved Honda Civic Bessie. Couldn't take another hard winter. I'm trading her in for a Subaru this week.
How about they get relegated and lose today?
I would have been off tomorrow , but it is a make up day because school was cancelled Jan 29th due to freezing drizzle/ minor icing
On Sunday March 15,
Man Utd host Liverpool and Spurs host Arsenal
I will be down in NYC with Matt. He has a State Cup game for his team.. the match is at Pier 40 in Manhattan… the pitch is actually out on a pier on the Hudson River!!!
Nice one, Bob.
The Manc Derby should have been played on the League Cup Final weekend.. they should have been meeting in the FINAL!!
It is rescheduled for Tuesday March25
That really is a unique footie set up. where do the fans sit.
Are you really getting rid of your Honda… sorry to see her go
Suarez could have done better with that today.
