Turning into the Home Stretch
Good morning, lads! With ten matches to go (for most Premiership sides) we're heading into the home stretch of this long domestic season. The main "X" factor in this story now is Manchester City, who have two matches in hand on most sides (and three on some). I'm up early this morning to follow their first one away to Hull City. Later we have the regular kickoffs highlighted (for me) by Leeds' trip to Burnley. And then Chelski take on Villa at Villa Park in the late one. Join me for all the LOB fun and games this morning.

Morning Boys

Keep in mind that we're still an hour later on the Premiership schedule, so for the time being MUR is enjoying an extra hour of kip on a Sunday morning.
Morning, UWS - great to have you on board. How's the weather out your way?
Dry.
I think it is supposed to be all the way up to 45!
How much snow did you get? We got hardly anything except ice.
I like what NBC are doing now
"I Was There"
Great videos front the stands at Selhurst Park
We got about 18 inches on Wednesday, but most of it is gone as it was 45 degrees yesterday.
Fantastic stuff from NBC - if that doesn't sell Americans on the idea of soccer tourism in the UK, I don't know what will.
And that was bloody Palace v. Soton!
Again, love NBC
In the tunnel, hear the players
Fox, you suck
Totally agree with you
Pellegrini seems to be cut from the Mourinho cloth. Again he's going with one striker up top. In the absence of Aguero, he's gone with Dzeko alone. Why not play Negredo with him and see if they build a strike partnership?
Stevie Bruce is old school and is going with a double act of Long and Jelavic up front.
This could have been a preview of the FA Cup
Thanks Wigan!
We're off
Right then - the Tigers get us underway at the KC Stadium.
Long a Jelavic should be stretched. They're not part of the Cup run.. saved for the league
Hull win a free kick straight off the boards.
Fatty chips a decent one in but there's some pushing.
Rugby update… England were 3-0 down, now lead 3-8
They need to win and have France beat the Irish to win the the 6 Nations… all round sport when I am around
Rugby?! Give over, lad!
Looks like a dreary old day up north today.
All sports buddy
I always followed the 5 Nations back when
Cuse lost to NC State yesterday
Duke squeaked passed Clemson
You mock, and I bring the lot
Hull starting well
The Try was converted
3-10
Oh - DiMichaelis as usual loses his man Jelavic who danced through to the by-line. How bad is DiMichaelis?!
Becky said earlier, no rain
Remember, I won't be on LOB tomorrow for those two big games
I will be on Manhattan for Matt's game
Is it good I won't be watching United against Pool?
Do United have any chance to win?
If they do, is there any chance of running up the table?
It's all Hull early doors - Jelavic just getting caught offside this time.
I'm the same way, mate - I'll be flying to Austin, TX tonight for a wedding tomorrow.
Can United finish in the top four?
United are 5 behind Spurs, 10 behind Citeh, 11 behind Pool and Arse
Can we catch two of them? Spurs? Arsenal?
Isn't there some type of festival going on down there right now?
I don't think so, mate. I reckon your goal is Europa League.
Wow - Kompany is off with a straight red!!!
KOMPANY HAS TO GO OFF
HE DOES!!!!
Correct decision from Lee Mason. Last man back, clearly grabbing Jelavic's shirt. He troops off shaking his head, but Kompany has no argument.
My SS link is a little behind.. the red hasn't happened yet
I'm going to have to refresh
Chelski fans are loving it.
Jelavic takes but it's poor.
Not just playing with 10 men but Kompany is out for three games. Including their visit to Old Trafford
Chelsea's league
Now it's Javi Garcia alongside the horrible DiMichaelis. Yaya will have to drop back and cover. Not ideal for Citeh.
Hull really need to win
They are only 6 off the zone
Good morning . I will be around for about fifteen minutes before going to the defensive driving class.
I agree - you always want the points in the bag rather than the games in hand. Sad to say it, but if Citeh don't win today, the league is Chelski's. I hate Mourinho.
6-10 in Italy
Translation: I don't wanna take a bath.
From the Guardian website:
"Kompany is beside himself with rage, and drop kicks the wall of the tunnel as he departs the scene. A really nice shape to that drop kick, showcasing good core strength, shades of Eric Cantona at Selhurst back in the day."
I think Liverpool still have a big shot at the title
I think they are playing great
Exciting to watch
ONE NIL CITEH!!!
Great goal by Silva
GOAL! David Silva pulls out one in a million!
GOAL !!!! SILVA SCORES FOR THE TEN MEN WIT A GOAL OUT OF THE TOP DRAWER.
Out of nothing, Silva collects the ball some 25 yards out and bends one in with his left peg.
0-1 Citeh!
How will Hull respond now?
Morning MUR
At least Bad Kompany did it in the tunnel.
Morning, MUR - with all of the drama here, I missed you coming on. Hope all is well way down in the heart of Texas.
I hope he broke his foot!
Don't you mean
DEEP in the heart of Texas?
Spot on, UWS - I do mean that indeed.
That was spot on UWS.
It is Chelsea's league if De Michelis replaces Bad Kompany.
Brucey's lads should go after Di Michelis.
Nice interplay from the Citeh boys but the passage breaks down.
I am OFF to serve my suspension. Off to defensive driving.
CHEERS!
Do try to keep your speed down on the way, mate.
Cheerio!
Overlapping chance there for Zabs but his cross was cleared out.
Oh - Zabs off the crossbar! Great strike!
Goal in the big match in League One
Brentford take the lead at Brisbane Road…that's Orient
Nasty one there by El Mohammady on Silva. Might have been red.
Nice finish by Pardew's mate but the whistle had blown
Oh - Meyler has the ball in the net with a lovely strike but the whistle had already gone.
That Silva goal really changed the complexion of this half. Hull were on top but had the stuffing knocked out of them. They could be 0-2 down.
(Shane Long) "has come a long way from Tipperary." Boom boom!
Half time
Italy 6 England 24
Boom boom Basil
Brucey effing and blinding on the touchline. He's not happy.
Half time
I am off for walkies
I'll be back
Back for the second half now. Hull are giving it a go from the kickoff again. I wonder how long that will last.
Long with a snapshot there that Joe Hart merely patted down.
Hull still pressing but they don't seem to have the quality to break down Citeh's ten man defense. Pellegrini going with the Mourinho tactics now.
Now then! Lee Mason has a big decision as Boyd goes down under Hart's challenge. No penalty. Should have been a yellow for Boyd.
Yellow in the end for Joe Hart for squaring up to Boyd. No yellow for Boyd. Shame.
Oh - Fernandinho could have buried this match there but missed in a choice position.
I am back from a long walk.. sort of mild out there!!
Still 0-1. I was listening to FIve Live and they said Kompany ban would only be one game but a gesture to the fourth official and the wall kicking may extend that
Why is only one game? I guess a straight red and not violent is a one gamer
Brentford beat Orient to jump over them in the table
You haven't missed much, mate. Hull had one penalty claim that was a total dive but otherwise Citeh have shut up shop.
Citeh are ten minutes away from completing their first win from their matches in hand on Chelski. Now they need two more.
I was listening to the footer and the rugby on the walk
There was a bloke on England.. his name is Billy Twelvetrees! Wonder if he is related some how to Arthur Twosheds
Eden Dzeko is pouting on the bench, but given the way this match has gone, he's been tangential to the plan.
Wonder if both their surnames is Jackson?
England beat Italy by a boatload but it is not enough to overtake the Irish points difference.. they just need France to beat the Irish
Silva now tackling back. What a brilliant performance from him today. The difference in the sides has really been just that touch of class.
Best chance of the afternoon for Dzeko but Allan McGregor did so well to make himself big in goal.
Coming down to the last moments now.
GOAL! Now Dzeko has killed it off!
Two Nil Citeh
Dzeko seals the three points for the Citizens
Brilliant pass from Silva and Dzeko merely had to sweep it in past McGregor. Big goal by Dzeko.
0-2!
Into stoppage time now.
I think I want City to win the title
I hate Jose and I don't like the way they play
I like how Liverpool play but they're Liverpool!
That's it - an emphatic win for Citeh that will serve as a marker for the rest of the day's action. Chelski will be watching in Brum.
Hull could still be in danger!
That's it
Citeh make ups points with one of their games in hand
I agree with you, mate. Back in a tick after some packing.
Are you taking Kate with you?
I love NBC
What oh what should I watch?
I have a choice of the lot!
Rangers win 2-0
I fear for Leeds today
Going to Turf Moor where Burnley are on fire….Leeds aren't
The Panel is talking about Andy Carroll. Hasn't scored a goal all year BUT would you take him to Brazil?
Merse says that there isn't many players like him and he could be valuable on the bench to change things up
I know that type of player is not easy to a handle
Teams in the tunnel at the SoL… the little kids next to O'Shea are making a racket!
I don't have a lot of hope for our away day at high-flying Burnley today but here are the teams:
Burnley: Heaton, Trippier, Mee, Shackell, Duff, Marney, Jones, Wallace, Arfield, Barnes, Vokes. Subs. Cisak, Long, Treacy, Kightly, Stanislas, Edgar, Lafferty.
United: Butland, Byram, Lees, Pearce, Pugh, Murphy, Austin, Mowatt, Wickham, Smith, McCormack. Subs. Cairns, Wootton, Brown, Warnock, Stewart, Poleon, Hunt.
Referee: S Hooper
Which match are you going to watch?
Sunderland Palace on NBCSN
I have 4 other choices!!!
SoL 'packed to the rafters"… it wasn't in the CUP!!
We're off
I'm onto the SS link on First Row as Sunderland kick off on NBC Sports Network.
No interest in the Premiership match so I'm having a look at Leicester v. Blackpool on BEin.
I never use First Row.. two many pop up windows
The Wizwig works well
Don't have that channel
Jeff is excited early doors as Hartlepool are the first to score this afternoon.
I'll have to try that one. First Row is bad with the popups.
Rooting for Palace.. I think
Swansea are already 1-0 up at the Liberty against WBA.
Hartlepool take an early lead
SS on a story about Wigan so Jeff can't celebrate
Lots of love for Tony Pulis?
Boy West Brom shouldn't have gotten rid of Clarke
They were good.. they won at OT… well.. this season that isn't hard to do!
Charlie is yelling and it's Andy Carroll for West Ham - a stunning header apparently. Carroll for England?
Goal everywhere!!!!
West Ham score
Sotton score!!
So much for no goals for Carroll
I just love this
I just have to press the up button on my control and i have game after game after game!!!
Of course, not really keen on any of them
I've got the hammers right now
Changed to a First Row link…lots of windows open but on time
Blackburn have taken the lead away to Hudders. And Watford are 1-0 up over Barnsley.
Burnley starting the better
"Massive Leeds following" today at Turf Moor. MOT!
West Ham on top
Well, marching down the table!!
Leicester playing with loads of confidence. They've got the ball in the net but Nugent was ruled offside.
Not so fast, mate - Hudders conceding means that we're up one spot already today.
"Unbelievably big chance" for Ross - hit the post!
Leeds should have taken the lead
Yeovil all over QPR
Where's the Arry magic
Brighton take the lead at the Reebok
Notts County take the lead at Tranmere at the foot of table
Hartlepool two up!
Pompey 1-0 down sadly.
Watford double their lead
Missed that update..bugger
Wed up on Brum
Goal at Portman Road… Tractor Boys one up against the FA Cup Kings
Still 0-0 at Turf Moor - I'd take that result.
Wednesday two up.. HUGE
Did they say Wigan tied it up?
They Did
Bugger - Not a Big Club now 2-0 up.
Tranmere tie it up against Notts
Wednesday are a big club!
They have history
THey have a big fan following
They have a big stadium… FA Cup Semi capable
Bugger Pompey two down
Hudders are level now.
Goal at Turf Moor… TO LEEDS!!!!
Burnley undefeated at home but Ross puts them behind
QPR take the lead
YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Ross with a header from what sounded like Route 1 move. Don't care!
0-1 Whites!!!!
Tranmere now two one up on County
And we've shot straight up to 11th with that goal - Ross's 24th of the season. Where would we be without his goals?
Sunderland stumbles as he goes to kick.. comical… survives
Stoke tie it up… Crouchie.. maybe he goes to Brazil!
Crouchie has leveled it against West Ham for Stoke.
I wouldn't have either Crouchie or Carroll in my squad. I once had a lot of hope for Carroll for England - not any more.
Now it's Vardy with one in the net for Leicester but again ruled out. It's a matter of time.
THe Beebs said it was Odemwingie that scored
I think they should have a big man
Roon, Sturridge and co… all the same type of player
Blow up, ref - I'll definitely take a 0-1 win today!
My sound has gone whacko on my link
Mine too - wonder what's happened with it.
It'll come back
oh dear.. Burnley tie it up
Whatever happened to Becchio… is he still at Norwich?
SHOULD NEVER HAVE MOVED!
Bugger! Burnley level it up. Grrr!
Southampton still on top of Norwich
I have that match on now
Were these guys together down in League One… with Leeds?
Wigan now take the lead at Portman Road
Nah - Becchio is currently on loan at Scunny. We nearly got him back on an emergency loan.
Well, well, well - Blackpool have scored against the run of play.
Yeah - Norwich had two successive promotions. They were L1 winners the year we went back up to the Championship in second spot and then they went on to come second in the Championship the next season. Struggling this season.
Lost my FR link
Back to Wizwig
Were Sotton there too?
HTs around the country
Yep - they were the ones who went up with Soton top of the tops that year in the Championship.
Norwich, Soton, Swansea and Cardiff show what decent investment in a club can do.
Second half underway all over the country
Merse just can't say the Palace keeper… classic
Without playing, United have dropped a spot with Everton getting a point so far today
Everton will have played the same amount of games as United
Don't know why but one of my Extra Channels is non HD
Everton's match is not a very good picture… what a spoiled brat I am
West Brom tie it up
Back with lunch now. Come on, you Whites!
All bottom seven teams aren't winning!
Well, the bottom TWELVE aren't winning
#8 Southampton winning
9 Newcastle drawing
10 West Ham drawing
11 Stoke drawing
12 Villa not playing
13 Swansea drawing
14 Hull lost
15 Norwich losing
16 Place drawing
17 West Brom drawing
18 Cardiff drawing
19 Sunderland drawing
20 Fulham drawing
Apparently, the ball was over the line for Fulham but the technology didn't work!
Sotton two up
Lambert scores 67 seconds after he came on
I've just noticed that Leicester are now sponsored by "Amazing Thailand." Could the average Foxes fan spot Thailand on a map? Doubt it.
Very observant!! Only took you an hour!
Jeff says that a mm of the ball is not over the line
Apparently, the technology worked REALLY well
Pompey three down!
Lambert for England?
5 years ago, Pompey beats Citeh
Today, losing to Fleetwood!!
Everton take the lead
I love the goal line technology. Notice that there was no debate this morning when Zabs hit one that struck the bar and came down. No protests, no surrounding the ref - it was just "not over the line," definitively.
Agreed
Michu comes on for Swansea
GOAL! Leicester are level. Marquez with a belter.
Leicester tie it up
Wednesday three up
County tie it up at Tranmere
Young Fergie Boys score two goals in a minute at MK
A mistake lets in Papa Cisse… but a great save by the Fulham keeper
FULHAM GO RIGHT DOWN THE OTHER END AND SCORE!!!
Mick Jagger with the shot.. Krul should have saved it
