Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

They're off from SFL.
Rodallega just missed a good chance for Fulham as a routine kadoomph caught out the Spuds defense and Rodallega shot wide with just Lloris to beat
Already promoted Luton take the lead at Welling. Motherwell take an early lead vs Celtic.
Kaboul heads inches over with a free header off a corner from Eriksen that Hangelaand failed to clear and Kane headed back in.
Great block by Lloris from Rodallega, who was through on goal.
Stockdale did well to tip a shot from Aaron Lennon on to the post.
GOAL !!! EASY PEASY !!!! PAULHINO TAPPED IN , UNMARKED AT THE FAR POST FROM A FREE KICK TAKERN BY ERIKSEN. THE FREE KICK WAS GIVEN FOR OBSTRUCTION BY DEJAGAH ON CHADLI
GOAL !!!! SIDWELL TIES IT UP ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. JUST TWO MINUTES LATER,
Sidwell collected the ball, off a throw, shrugged off Paulinho, and went to play a one two. It came off Fryers and the alert Sidwell got the ball and dinked it past the on rushing Lloris.
Good Morning MUR
I am here for a while.
I was watching the match upstairs… I come downstairs and the goals go flying in!
Not sure who I want to win this!
I don't want Norwich to go down
Do i want United to catch Spurs? Everton? Arsenal?
It's 1-1 at the half in a finely balanced match . It was a decent first half.
Watching these games make me think the players are just not that good anymore
They get paid a lot of money and just go through the motions
Some of the decision making is atrocious and passing and shooting is crap
Half time
1-1
Good morning UWS. Great to have you on board. I guess a draw would be fine.
Motherwell lead Celtic 2-1 at the half.
That is true, UWS. I thought the Fulham players were putting forth more of an effort and actually made better decisions. I don't blame the Spuds fans for being frustrated.
The Foxes take the lead vs QPR in the second half. what was expected to be a big match is basically meaningless as the Foxes have clinched promotion and QPR will be in the playoffs regardless of the outcome of their final four matches.
The second half is underway from SFL.
Just got the computer back
Spurs retake the lead
GOAL !!! 2-1 SPUDS AS CITIZEN KANE HEADS IN WHAT WS FOR ONCE A GREAT CROSS FROM LENNON. HE HAS SCORED THREE IN HIS LAST THREE AS IT WAS NICELY GLANCED HEADER IN THE CORNER.
Is he related to Michael Caine ? Hee Hee ?
Norwich's run in is atrocious… of course…going to Old Trafford is not that scary
Great header by Rod… fantastic save
Morning, lads. Such a humdrum morning that I decided to have a lie in. Thanks for the post, MUR!
Great passing from Fulham as Rodallega found Dejagah down the left and his cross was headed superbly by Rodallega and superbly tipped over by Lloris.
Good morning Bob. It's actually been a decent match
I had my late lie in yesterday morning. It really was a Good Friday, no pun intended.
It's a horrible stretch of matches for the Canaries as opposed to Fulham's schedule. I expect the Canaries to be playing in the Championship in August
Did you see that Roberto Martinez has commented that Moyes has failed this year.
He said that Moyes is complaining about the quality of his squad but they were reigning champions!
I agree with him.
I was in Moyes corner and I thought the team weren't as good as time past but they have no pace and creativity. They go out a lot of times not to lose… United of old went out to WIN every game
If Ipswich win today, they would be in the play offs and could pass Norwich on the motorway between the Prem and Champ
I agree UWS. Also the Toffees are doiung better under Martinez than with Moyes. I had wanted Martinez in charge of United. It probably won't be a Happy Easter for Moyes on his return to Goodison.
The Pit Bull is on for Scotty on his return to SFL.
If Ipswich win Watford they will be in a playoff spot, but I expect Wigan to win the playoffs. The return of the East Anglian Derby next season?
I know every team could say this but if United had held on to beat Fulham and not concede in the last second. If United had beaten West Brom at Old Trafford, not conceded late at Cardiff. Those results threw away seven points … we'd be right behind Arsenal
already promoted Luton go two up late at Wellie.
And conceded late against the Saints at OT when they should have won. Make it nine points and we would have been in a CL spot.,
It's now Desmond Between Motherwell and Celtic.
I've been pleased how Mata has started to play
I could not believe how bad Rooney was against Bayern. He had TWO really good chances and a ten year old would have been upset if he had made the same attempt as Wayne!
Goal
Kabul scores in the right end this week!
Agreed with you about Sotton
GOAL !!!!3-1 AS IT'S A CARBON OF THE FIRST SPUDS GOAL AS ERIKSEN WHIPPED IN A FREE KICK AND KABOUL VOLLEYED IN AT THE FAR POST COMPLETELY UNMARKED.
Agreed that Martinez should have succeed SAF at OT?
I didn't at the time but I do now
Nine more points and we would have been sixth , behind Everton on goal difference and one point behind the Gunners with a game in hand against Brucey's lot. That would probably have put us into fourth.
Me too. Martinez would have been a perfect fit and would have had us playing the right way.
Moyes mistake after taking over at Old Trafford was he came in and said THIS IS MY TEAM and I am going to do it MY WAY
He got rid of all the coaches and brought in his own.
He should have come in and said…. I am here and I want to continue what is going on. Everyone here has won everything and I have won nothing… tell me how it is done
Burnley clinched promotion yesterday. Did you know about that?
Spot on . UWS.
A Belgian swap as Dembele is on for Chadli against his former club.
The Foxes have defeated QPR 1-0 in what was basically a meaningless match. Wellie pull back a goal vs Luton as they now trail the champions 1-2.
Leicester beating QPR 1-0 and now QPR are down to ten men
The Foxes get very close to being Champions
Are you nervous about the six pointer vs Bristol Rovers at Fratton Park? The winner is basically safe. The loser still in a relegation battle.
My mistake. Burnely not up. They are one win away.
Pompey have a big game today hosting Bristol Rovers. Rovers are one of the teams below them.
If Pompey win, they would be 7 points away from the drop with only 9 points to vie for
PLAY UP POMPEY
POMPEY PLAY UP
If Derby had dropped any points yesterday at Doncaster they would have been up. They didn't.. they aren't
I just corrected myself.
Are you on Spring Break this week? I was off yesterday.
More games to come on Easter Monday in the Football League
I remember those days of Saturday and Monday matches either side of Easter.
It stopped when the Champions League was the following week and they stopped the Easter Monday matches in the Prem
I am almost thru with my Spring Break… I do have Monday off as well… THE BOYS DON'T!
I hope you have had a good break. the girls and I go back on Monday
Egg on toast for brekkies. Cuppa tea.
Handball… penalty to Fulham
Definite penalty… what a plonker
Morning BD
SAVED!!!
Classic on Soccer Saturday
Bob, did you watch that Leeds video I sent you
You could have written it!
I love the comment… Norwich? Norwich?
Talking about piss poor, I that's what I was doing when the hand ball occurred.
Soldado on for Citizen Kane.
LUFC could play LUFC South twice next season.
Luton have won 1-2 at Wellie.
Where did Eggs on Toast and Cuppa Boy gone
He must be occupied with such a great brekkies. He must be getting ready for the match at Barnsley.
If Untied win at Goodison and win their game in hand against Hull, they would be three point behind Everton and possibly on four behind Arsenal
It could be. Arsenal play away to their cup final opponents today. I don't see United winning at Goodison. Not a happy Easter for Moyes and Roon.
Andros on for Eriksen.
Classic… Jeff says here's the Cardiff team… sssh… no changes!
This all came after conversation about the Cardiff Palace controversy
United to win every game and everyone else collapse… United make fourth!!!
We must be positive about United.
The sequel of the Great Escape, starring Tony Pulis as the manager!
Sidwell trips Andros just inches outside the box.
Celtic looks like the score the winner at Motherwell after being behind 2-0
Five to go
Celtic go 2-3 up at Well.
Atrocious free kick from Soldado.
Three minutes of stoppage time as Lloris makes a decent save off a header from Amoriebieta.
Who do you think is still in danger of going down
Stoke is mathematically safe on 43 points
Palace have 40 points… possible 52
West Ham 37…. 49
Hull 36….51
Villa 34….49
Swansea 33… 45
West Brom 33… 48
Norwich 32…. 44
Fulham 30… 39
Cardiff 29…. 41
Sunderland 26… 41
All over at the Lane
I think Sunderland and Norwich are down. The last spot is between Cardiff , Fulham ,Swansea, ands West brom.
The Spuds win 3-1.
Palace, the Hammers, and Hull City are all safe. Villa a win away.
If Cardiff and Sunderland fail to win today
Palace will be safe… with games to spare… well done Pulis
Well tie it up in stoppage as it's 3-3 vs Celtic.
Motherwell have tied it up!!!
My pick for manager of the season. He's got the worst squad in the Prem in a mid table position. Well done.
It finishes 3-3 between well and Celtic.
Brentford clinched promotion to the Championship yesterday. Wolves were already up last week and defeated Rotherham 6-4 yesterday.
So
United win all their games left( I can dream)
Everton A
Norwich H
Sunderland H
Hull H
Sotton A
15 points… 72 points… Arsenal need 6… pressure on Arsenal!!!!
OR Citeh lose all their games and we're above them!!
OK… I just woke up
I am pleased for Brentford
Last season they missed a last minute penalty against Doncaster that would have promoted them and made Bournemouth Champs BUT Donny went down the other end and scored and became Champions and the Bees out
I can see Norwich winning one of the games in the run in
Everyone thinks they will lose all of them
Could they win at OT… WBA did
Could they beat Arsenal at home? Happened before
Love them to knock Jose off his perch at the Bridge.. aint going to happen
I could see United getting twelve points, so I guess it's EL footie next season. Norwich , in my opinion, are doomed.
I know the 3 o'clockers are just about to start but Shadow REALLY wants walkies.. I'll be back
I'm back after a delicious breakfast with Kate. Tried to get her to sing along with the "MOT" but she refused. Still a work in progress.
Next.is a must win match for Cardiff against a Stoke side who are safe. A return to Cardiff for Odemwingie, who has been in great scoring form for the Potters, but wasn't for Cardiff. Kenwyne Jones went to Cardiff and has done naught. The Potters got the better end of the deal. A welsh side up against a Welsh manager,.
Have a great walkies. Sparky is lying down with Elizabeth
Teams out on the pitch at the Millennium for the relegation dogfight:
Cardiff: Marshall; Theophile-Catherine, Caulker, Cala, Fabio; Medel, Whittingham, Kim, Mutch, Dæhli; Campbell.
Subs: Lewis; Turner, Jones, Eikrem, Gunnarsson, Zaha, John.
Stoke: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Wilson, Pieters; Arnautovic, Nzonzi, Ireland, Whelan, Odemwingie; Crouch.
Subs: Sorensen; Muniesa, Adam, Palacios, Walters, Assaidi, Wilkinson.
Welcome Bob. Nice try with Kate. My experience with Elizabeth is that you will have your work cut out. A trip to Barnsley is awaiting.,
Was it sunny side up?
They're off from the Welsh capital on a bright sunny day.
It's a big, big Yorkshire Derby today between Barnsley, who are fighting for their Championship lives, against the Super Whites. I wouldn't be surprised if Barnsley beat us.
You need to believe, mate.
MOT!
Scrambled on a piece of toast, mate. Nearly did a bagel but saving it for tomorrow morning's matches.
Were the eggs sunny side up?
Forest take the lead vs Brum
The bagel will come in handy. Norwich vs Pool kicks off at 7 AM EDT. Will you be up bright and early on Easter Sunday?
I will be, mate. Should be a cracker tomorrow. Some really good games. And then I've got an invitation from a Brazilian friend for a traditional Brazilian Fejoada feast for Easter Sunday. And I've got Monday off. Lovely jubbly.
Begovic fumbles a shot from Mutch then gathers
That's 6 AM my time. I'll be waking up with the roosters. You are a lucky bugger. I was off yesterday , but go back to work on Monday
That's 6 AM my time. I'll be waking up with the roosters. You are a lucky bugger. I was off yesterday , but go back to work on Monday
I saw that Leeds kicks off late. That's during my conference period and lunch, so I may be around for that one.
Forest are pretty much out of it at this point.
Leicester are champs, Burnley are promoted as second, and then Derby and QPR are pretty safe for the playoffs. Wigan look reasonably safe now too and that leaves fourth slot for Brighton, Reading, Ipswich and possibly Bournemouth to scrap over. Can you imagine bloody Bournemouth in the Premiership!?
That would be brilliant. My eyes are already on the summer, though, as our season is effectively over. We won't be relegated and can't win anything, so we're just playing out the rubber now. Three matches left after today.
I don't see Bournemouth getting promoted. I definitely could not imagine them in the Prem. Burnley will be promoted with a win Monday or dropped points by Derby County on Monday
I've just noticed that Stoke are in the top half and still a long way off from safety. That's crazy!
I think it's a matter of time for Burnley. They will go up.
Sad about Forest. I picked them for the playoffs , not expecting a late season slump. I guess you will be celebrating the end of the Championship season in a fortnight. Lots of suds that evening?
Stoke are basically safe,. Anyone with 37 or more points is all but safe. Isn't Stoke on 43 points.? They are the Leeds of the Prem.
Definitely. Then we'll see what the summer brings. New owner, probably new gaffer, new batch of players, too, I hope.
Pompey take the lead vs Bristol Rovers in a relegation Six pointer. Celebrating by UWS while bagging poop?
Stoke were on 43 points before today's kickoff. I still think it's crazy that even Soton in 8th are two points from the magic 50 point mark.
Chelsea vs Sunderland should be the MOTD today. I definitely did not expect Desmond at the Etihad on Wednesday.
Stoke are really tedious under Sparky. Everything aimed at big Crouchie to knock down.
Evil Millwall take a vital lead at the Riverside.
It's the vital forty in the Prem, but more like thirty seven this year. It's fifty in the Championship. Stoke and Sotton are definitely safe.
Stoke more tedious than with Pulis? Sparky has done a decent job this season.
True - but I'm just remarking on the wide divide between the top six sides and the rest. Arsenal in fourth have a third more points than do Soton in 8th!
Halifax take the lead vs Macclesfield as they look to secure a playoff spot.
Agreed - Stoke were really tedious under Pulis but I expected more from a United alum.
WAY HAY! LEEDS TAKE THE LEAD AT BARNSLEY
Ross with the goal . Congrats Bob.
This is definitely not the MOTD.
Agreed about Sparky, but that's how all his teams have played.
Halifax two up vs Macclesfield.
Watford take the lead vs Ipswich. the Tractor Boys will be in a playoff spot with a win.
YESSSSSSS!!!!!
Ross with his 28th. Where would we be without his goals?
BUGGER! Bristol Rovers tie it up at Fratton Park. UWS will not be pleased.
True Bob. I am delighted for the Whites.
Level with Not a Big Club now - but they have superior GD.
Big goal at Watford.....
It's gone to the home side. Ipswich fans will be nervous now.
The Magpies singing in Toon as they take the lead vs the Swans. shola Ameobi with the goal.
That goal for Evil Millwall is giving them a lifeline.
Pieters down injured . Bad news for stoke and the Dutch national team.
Campbell has a shot blocked for a corner from fellow former United trainee, Shawcross.
Excellent save by David Marshall from Odemwingie on his return to Cardiff.
Great save David Marshall from Odemwinge's shot.
Muniesa came on for pieters.
Richard Burton Albion take the lead vs Jeff's team.
BUGGER!! EVL MILLWALL TWO UP AT THE RIVERSIDE.
I picked Chelsea vs Sunderland as MOTD because it's the best from a bad batch of matches. Everton vs United the match of the weekend.,
It's been a dull match. I would have expected better in the battle of managerial wits between two United alums.
Millwall go 0-2 up. This would be a really bad day for our Yorkshire friends Barnsley if we beat them at their patch while Millwall are winning away from home.
I am back form Walkies and a trip to the store
Pompey had taken the lead but it is all square
Leeds winning at Barnsley
They had lost 4 straight conceding 14 goals in the last four visits to Oakwell
Cardiff play the better stuff but lack in Premiership quality.
Ross has scored over 50% of the Leeds league goals this season… sounds like me in the Spring of 82
Leicester fans are on a high these days but they should be watchful of what's happened to Cardiff, as they romped the Championship last season as well.
Indeed, mate. We'd be relegated without him, for sure.
Reading your comments from before
Remember the 50 pt mark is for the Championship not the Prem
Prem only has 38 games instead of the Championship's 46
I posted the teams in the table with possible points earlier
welcome back, UWS.
Never replied to my email or comment on this thread about the Leeds vid I sent you
You could have written it!!
My favorite line.. Norwich. NORWICH!!
Pompey retake the lead!
I agree, Bob, but I think the Foxes are better equipped to survive. They have lots of money to buy players. If they invest wisely then they should be safe,
Would LHS had been relegated without me??
Another goal at Fratton Park… BUGGER
DESMOND
Yeah - I know that, mate. I'm just remarking on the division between the top six and the rest in the Premiership. I reckon that the Championship is more competitive.
Begovic superbly touches a free kick from Whittingham onto the post.
Understood
Nah - because we were champs after all. But we wouldn't have won the title without your goals, obviously. You definitely deserved the MOTM nod several times that season.
Sorry UWS. The ups and downs of being a Pompey fan.
PLAY UP POMPEY!
The Neviller and Moyes at Villa Park today
Watching Shaw?
Didn't get one!!!!
Our form seems to be picking up right at the time that it doesn't really matter. Typical for us.
You goals were definitely crucial in winning the championship, but not relegation.
Video comment Dahlgren?????
I know! And I know it still rankles. Didn't Joel get one for a match where he rifled a shot against our own crossbar?
two minutes of stoppage time.
Goal somewhere… at SJP
Swansea tie it up… BonBon
Haven't watched it yet, mate. Saving it for a suitable moment.
I remember that one. It was really hilarious.
Bloody hell - Odemwinge has flopped and Stoke have a penalty late on! What drama!
Penalty in Wales… to Stoke!
Ex Cardiff striker Ode… wins a pen
Went down like a fish
PENAL;TY TO STOKE SECONDS FROM THE HALFTIME BREAK. STUPIUD FOUL BY FABIO ON ODEMWINGIE BUT HE WENT DOWN REALLY EASILY.
Went down really easy. I'm not sure Odemwinge will be allowed back into Wales any time soon. Shocking.
Goal… straight down the middle… don't dive Keeper
reaact
GOAL !!! ARNAUTOVIC BLASTS THE PEN RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE AND GIOVES STOKE THE LEAD.
Right down the middle and Cardiff are in a world of trouble!
Plonker… only a five minute vid!
You could have been the author!
Just finished Hillsborough last night
If the scores stay the same…Palace are safe mathematically
Cardiff hadn't had one league Pen all season
Stoke one up thanks to that late penalty and Ollie none too pleased . has words with webby .I thought it was a soft one. The last thing Cardiff needed.
You said Leicester would be the only ones that capable of staying up
The Champions always seem to struggle more than the second or p/o winner
Cardiff were Champs
QPR were Champs by miles a few seasons back… they just survived and then went down the next season
Cardiff are in big trouble if they lose. They travel to the SOL and that will be a huge one if it's not too late for both teams.
BOni with that crucial equalizer at SJP.
You think Burnley is better equipped than the Foxes to survive in the Prem?
