Midweek Footie Madness!
Another day, another big day of fixtures in a number of different tournaments. Top of my list is the Yorkshire derby between Leeds at Bradford in the 2nd Round of the League Cup. At the same time, Arsenal will hope to finish off Besiktas in order to quality for the Champions League. Join me for all the fun this afternoon, won't you?

The line-ups at Bradford this afternoon:
Bradford City - Williams, Darby, Sheehan, McArdle, Meredith, Liddle, Knott, Kennedy, McLean, Hanson, Clarke
Leeds - Taylor, Wootton, Cooper, Pearce, Warnock, Murphy, Bianchi, Tongue, Norris, Sharp, Smith
And away we go - come on, the Whites!
Leverkusen have opened up an early 2-0 lead against Copenhagen and are cruising it.
Rash one by Luke Murphy - into the book.
Oh - nearly there from Warnock after a nice break through by Norris. Should have been 1-0. Good stuff from us.
Stoke have taken the lead against Pompey in the League Cup.
Oh - great cross over by Sheehan and McLean nearly got it on target. Whew!
Decent start to a partnership between Billy Sharp and big Matty Smith tonight. Certainly preferable to the Italian Antonucci who stank it up at Watford at the weekend. But we need a goal!
Malmo are now 2-0 up over Salzburg on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.
Bloody Norah - Murphy has gone bulldozing in and has got himself sent off. What an idiot!
Not a lot of goals about tonight.
By my count, Murphy is the third Leeds player sent off this season in only six matches (four in the league and now two in the cup.).
Nearly half time now - this one is going to be a struggle, I fear.
Looks like Bradford's striker Aaron McLean is going to have to come off. That's good for us as he's been a handful.
Wahay! Alexis Sanchez has scored his first for the Gunners - and a priceless one, too. Might just secure them qualification for the group stage. Paid his wages with that one.
So, that's half time at Bradford. We're down to ten men and struggling. Not sure we'll pull this one out in this kind of cauldron like atmosphere.
We're back on at Bradford in the League Cup in the second half and the home side nearly took the lead there.
Around the fixtures, there are only goals at the Potteries - 2-0 Stoke now.
Mario Hamsik has given Napoli a 0-1 lead over Bilbao.
So as it stands tonight, these are the sides progressing to the CL group stages:
Arsenal
Napoli
Leverkusen
Steaua Bucharest
Malmo
Come on, you Whites!!!!
A real old ding dong at Bilbao. They're 2-1 up and 3-2 on agg now.
Looks like Warnock has a hammy strain now. This is just getting worse and worse.
Down to ten minutes now at Bradford. Come on!
GOAL!!!!!!!!
YESSSSSS!!!!!!
Big Matty Smith with the killer strike!
0-1!
Great cross - great header! Wallop!
Buggerrr!
1-1
Double bugger!!!
2-1 Bradford.
Taunts of "You're Getting Sacked in the Morning" from the home crowd - and they're not wrong about that. Hockaday is definitely on borrowed time now.
Into stoppage time then...
Oh - surely a penalty there. Mad scramble. No penalty given. sigh
More shock results tonight - Villa have gone down to Leyton Orient 0-1, Burton Albion have knocked out QPR.
Nine minutes of stoppage time!
Wow - come on, you Whites!
One last big free kick chance for us - come on!
This one has to go in!
One - Matty Smith with a free header - over the bar!
That's it - we're out of the League Cup. Bugger, bugger, bugger!
In the Champions League, Arsenal have prevailed over Besiktas 1-0.
Bilbao have knocked Napoli out.
Leverkusen have cruised it against Copenhagen
Malmo have seen off Salzburg.
And Ludogorets and Bucharest are aat -1-1 still going at it.
Cheerio!
