Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The teams are out on the pitch and superb by NBC, showing the traditional Liverpol song.
Now time for some strong brew, not strange brew.
They're a minute into the match as I have a strong pot brewin'
AGuero is offside as he has a shot blocked after being put through by Jerko after a great turn
BLY ME! Cithe haven't won on their last eleven trips to Anfield . Not even the superstars of the last few years, Will that change today?
Emre Can is back in midfield , but Pool CAN Not keep possession early doors. Will that marathon match less than 72 hours ago in Turkey affect Liverpool?
Two chances for Pool in a minute Both for Lallana set up by Coutinho. First Coutinho put Lallana through, but his shot was easily saved by Hart then Lallana scored , but was just offside.
GOAL !!!! WHAT A CRACKING SHOT BY JORDAN HENDERSON . A ROCKET FROM THIRTY YARDS OUT THAT CURLED IN THE UPPER 90. HART DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE.
The goal had been coming and Coutinho was in the thick of the action yet again . He tackled Kompany, found Sterling , who passed to Henderson , whoscored from 25 yards out./
OH!!! Off the inside of the post by Aguero off a superb long ball from Silva as Aguero beat Skrtel and Can for pace.
What a start to this match. It looks set to be another classic. Whoever is having a late lie in is missing quite a match
coutinho found Sterling with a pass on the outside of his foot and Sterling beats Mangala , but his cross/shot goes across the box. Coutinho has definitely been the best player so far.
GOAL !!! JERKO TIES IT UP FOR CITEH . GREAT ONE TOUCH PASSING AS POOL COULD NOT GET THE BALL BACK.
If Henderson's goal was a superb effort then Citeh's was a superb team goal. It started when a stray pass from Coutinho was picked up in midfield. Fernandinho found Silva, who found Aguero and his superb revers pass found Jerko , who shot first time past Mignolet.
You just can't take your eye off this one.If yesterday's matches were a disappointment then this is more than making up for it.
The final warning for Kompany by Mark Clattenburg after a numerous fouls.
Jerko has a shot find Row M of the Kop. It may have threatened a pie vendor.
OH!!! Lallana should have given Pool the lead. He beat the offside trap , but volleyed with just Hart to beat. Superb lobbed pass over the Citeh defense by Markovic.
Kompany with a foul. I guess he has yet another final warning.
Jerko is offside from a nice long ball by Yaya.
Now Aguero is offside from a pass by Fernandinho.
Coutinho has a long range effort swerve , but Hart gathers.
Sterling wins a corner off of Zaba.
The corner from Joe Allen is headed out by Zaba, the first man.
A minute of stoppage time time as Sterling gets off a shot s, saved by HArt
Jason Denayer has given Celtic the lead vs Aberdeen
It's 1-1 at the end of an enthralling first half.
Celtic are one up at the half as they look to extend their to six points over the Dons.
The teams are out of the tunnel and I'm not sure why Brendan is complaining to Kevin Friend , the fourth official. I thought they had a near perfect first half.
The second half is underway
Citeh attack from the off as Nasri finds Zaba down the right and his cross is headed just over by fellow Argie, Aguero.
A nasty foul by Kompnany on Sterling and yet another final warning by Clattenburg.
OH!!! Coutinho found Lallana down the right and his excellent cross found Sterling , who looked surprised as he side footed a volley wide from close range.
Naughty by Fernandinho on Joe Allen.
Skrtel heads down the free kick to Lallana, who has a goal disallowed for offside. The replay showed that the goal should have been allowed.
A Brazi tangle as Fernandinho is booked for a foul from behind on Coutinho. Milner on for Jerko as the LUFC Academy is represented/
That was the first booking of the match
The yellow card has been correctly changed from Fernandinho to Nasri.
Now a Serb tangle as Kolorov does well to get past Markovic, but his cross was wayward.
Celtic go two up vs Aberdeen.
Morning, MUR - I'm just getting going this morning after a late night out. Sorry to have missed this one, though. It sounds as if it has been a cracker.
Oh dear - for some reason my NBC Sports Network channel is not working on the cable. That is unacceptable behavior, Time Warner Cable.
Citeh have a free kick about a foot outside the box. A waste as Silva curled it in , but it went harmlessly out of play as the rain starts to teem down in Merseyside.
Good morning Bob. Great to have you on board. It has been a cracker. Sorry you can't get the match
Celtic now go three up vs Aberdeen.
Leigh Griffiths from the spot for the second Celtic goal.
Markovic goes past fellow Serb, Kolorov and gets in a cross , but Lallana can't quite connect on an attempted bicycle kick.
GOAL !!!! 2-1 LIVERPOOL AND COUTINHO SCORES WITH A SPECTACULAR STRIKE SIMILAR TO THAT FROM HENDERSON.
Citeh have just under fifteen minutes plus stoppage time to respond.
Bugger - totally missed that one. Still working on accessing the channel.
The second Liverpool goal was very similar their first . Sterling went on a run and laid off the ball as he did on the first goal. The strike was from almost the identical spot, but Coutinho's shot went in the bottom corner while Henderson's went in the upper 90.
Sorry mate. I hope you're able to get it.
OH!!! Nearly Desond as Skrtel headed out a cross and Aguero weaved his way past sveral tackles as he shot just wide.
Gary Mackay-Steven with the third Celtic goal.
James Milner is booked for an off the ball foul on Sterling.
Kolo Toure is on for ALberto Moreno. Hard to believe it's the first time that the Toure brothers are facing each other in a competitive match.
I'm rebooting my cable box now - I'm hoping to get things back up and running for the Arsenal v. Everton match.
Frank Lampard is on , but I did not see who came off.
Lallana is booked for a foul on Milner.
I hope you can get it up. Also, will Gooner and you r dad watch it as a post- brekkies match?
Coutinho has a shot deflected for a corner.
Stefan Johansen has put Celtic four up vs the Dons.
Following along on the text while my telly is rebooting. Should only a couple of minutes now.
Boni is booked for a foul on Lallana . I didn't see him come on either.
Yeah - Gooner should be heading over to watch with Dad momentarily.
Sounds like you will be up and running. Sorry about this match
OH!!! Danny Sturridge shoots inches wide as Henderson nicked the ball off of Yaya and put him through
will there be another turn in this tale?
Just wide by Silva as Yaya went on a nice run and did well to find Silva.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Mark Clattenburg blows the final whistle as Liverpool defeat Citeh 2-1. A setback for Citeh n their hopes of retaining the title.
More away dfue blues for Citeh at Anfield as they are no winless in their last dozen visits to Anfield. Definitely not a happy hunting ground for Citeh
Celtic have defeated Aberdeen 4-0.
Next, is the Gunners vs the Toffees and an East Anglian Derby that is a promotion six pointer, from Carrow Road.
Looks like Pool have wrapped up a fine win this morning.
Yes. It was a huge win and keeps them in the race for fourth place. It looks to be a battle between United and Pool for that elusive fourth spot.
The teams are headed out of the tunnel at the EM and on to the pitch.
It was gloomy and raining on Merseyside, but sunny in North London.
The team news out of the Em:
Aese -Ospina, Bellerin. Paulista, Koz, Gibbs, Coq Au Vin, Caz. The Ox, Ozil, Alex, Giroud. Subs: Mert, Rosicky, Walcott, Monreal, Chambers, Welly, Sussudio.
Everton - Timmy, Coleman, Stones, Jags, Garbutt, McCarthy, Barry, Besic, Mirallas, Lukaku, Barkley. Subs: Joel, Gibson, Kone, Naismith, Osman, Lennon, Alcaraz.
Still no luck with NBC Sports Network. I've got Time Warner working on the issue.
Arsenal start in fourth but can leapfrog United again with a win today against an Everton side still recovering from a Thursday Europa League match and in the bottom half.
They're off from the EM.
I would let those mugs from Time Warner have it. We look forward to our weekend matches.
I had a lovely Indian guy on the phone - possibly chatting with me from Mumbai - who's working on it. Should be sorted eventually. Meanwhile, I'll watch vicariously through you, mate. Glad to be chatting with you this morning.
I think the Toffees may have a slight advantage. Both teams were at home and despite the Toffees playing on Thursday, they strolled through the match . The Gunners will need to recover from a horrible performance vs Arsene's former club.
Reading the 365 text now.
Same here. Somehow, that doesn't inspire confidence, but I wish yoiu the best.
Yes, I see that Mert, who was culpable on two goals on Wednesday is riding the bench today.
You are correct. The Gunners could possible swap places with us and move up to third as it was before we kicked off this weekend.
He is. Kos and Gabriel in the centre . Arsene wants them to be solid. Not with a soft center like you would find in a Toffee, for example.
Looks like Everton have had the better start. I've switched over to the Ligue 1 match on BEin between Nantes and Guincamp. (sigh)....
The Toffees have , but neither team has ahad a shot on target. That match on BEIN looks like a snoozer. A shame that it's on instead of the East Anglian Derby
Ox is put down the right and wins on a corner on the Gunners first attack of the match
McCarthy heads out the corner from Caz then a poor cross from Alexis as he twisted and turned to get past Besic.
At least you will be able to watch the evil Capital One Cup Final. What's in your wallet?
Everton have had 69% of the possession. Definitely beating the Gunners at their own game and on their turf.
Still no solution. What channel is the League Cup Final on - I hope it's not bloody NBC Sports Network - it's the only channel that isn't working.
Superb keeping by Ospina as the Chunk nicked the ball off of Gabriel as he was about to make a back pass. Ospina blocked from the Chunk then cleared with a superb slide tackle on the Chunk inches outside the box.
The League Cup is not BEIN shown on NBC. It's on the channel currently showing the match with much ennui.
Gooner, dad, and Simon will be relieved that Ospina was a superb sweeper keeper or else they would have had a Chunk taken out of their hopes of leapfrogging United
Working on my French right now.
Tres magnifique por Nates.
The Canaries take the lead in the East Anglian Derby, Bob will be pleased to hear that Bradley Johnson scored.
Then the Gunners get behind the Toffees defense for the first time this match and Kate will not be pleased that Giroud headed well wide.
To add salt to my wounds, we've received about six inches of snow overnight. That, after I spent an hour digging yesterday. Not a happy chappy, mate.
Naughty by Kos on Barkley.A horrible free kick from Luke Garbutt, deputizing for Baines as his long free kick is straight to Ospina.
I suspect that Giroud spends more time on his coiffeur than on his heading drills in a given week.
Sorry mate. The light at the end of the tunnel is that Match goes in like a lion and out like lamb. I think you are at the tail end of this nonsense. Hang in there , mate.
I would think so. They sure could use a goal from him at this time. It's looking like the match vs Monaco all over again.
A world class tackle by Gabriel on the Chunk got up a full head of steam and went on a run. I thought the Toffees were about to take the lead.
Alexis has a cross cut out for a corner after Coleman was tackled in his own box.
GOAL !!! BETTER BY GIROUD AS HE SCORES WITH A CHEEKY FINISH OFF THE CORNER FROM OZIL.
Wahay! My picture just came back on as Giroud directs one in for Arsenal's opener. And Kate is doing a can can in celebration.
Giroud eluded his marker, John Stones and scored with a soft , well placed volley off the side of his foot from Ozil's corner
That looked like something off the training ground as Giroud did what he was supposed to do and Kate should be delighted as should Gooner, dad, and Simon.
Congratulations. I'm delighted for you and talk about perfect timing.
Still 1-0 in the East Anglian Derby thanks to that goal from Bradley Johnson. The winner moves up to third, just outside the automatic promotion spots.
A great left footed long range curler from Caz is tipped over by Timmy.
Gabriel heads on the corner and Besic with a risky back header that Timmy gathers. It could have gone in for an OG.
Gabriel looks the biz, for sure. Great buy for the Arsenal.
The Gunners are one up at the half thanks to that side footed volley by Goroud off a corner from Ozil.
The second half is underway from the EM.
Giroud shows why he's not a defender as he cynically fouls Coleman from behind and is deservedly booked.
Ospina pushes out a poor free kick from Luke Garbutt for a corner.
The corner from Garbutt is headed away then his return cross is headed away then Gareth Barry volleys over.
Gibbs fouls from behind off a hopital pass from Kos.
The free kick from Garbutt is headed out for a corner by Coq Au Vin.
The Gooner and Dad are happy chappys about this result so far.
Bellerin tackles Barkley for another corner,
The corner from Garbutt is headed out at the near post.
They should be delighted , but are probably not too enthusiastic about the performance.
Arsenal (and United) will gain some ground on Citeh with this result.
There will be PPP abound with Liverpool exchanging places with Soton. Soton have been bollixing up the PPP points all season with their top five nonsense.
The Canaries are 1-0 up in the East Anglian Derby.
Giroud turns off a pass from the Ox and has a shot blocked by Jags for a corner.
I think There will be an extra point or two for everyone. The league standings are becoming more and more realistic a as the season winds down.
You are correct as the Saints don't march on . That was definite nonsense.
I think so, too. Real implications for the PPP this afternoon with the League Cup Final.
The Little Neviller seems to be riding the coat-tails of his older brother in the commentary game.
Beaker launches one well over the top. Giroud not happy with him.
Looks as if we're going to see the intervention of LUFC Academy in a moment or two.
The Little Neviller needs to concentrate on getting a league win with QPR instead of being a talking head
Agreed.
An hour in and Everton need to start thinking about some changes. Plenty of firepower on the bench.
The against in the top five was a rather silly idea at best
Gooner was saying at half-time that he wouldn't be surprised if Sussudio got sold in the summer. Arsene is all in with Ospina at this point. I'm not convinced.
I wonder who picked Chelsea and the Spuds in the League Cup.
The requisite boos for Lennon as he replaces Mirallas. The Belgian was not best pleased with Roberto Martinez as he passed him.
Just as Bob stated, the Lufc Academy is on for Mirallis and is booed for his years with the Spuds. I hear snickering from the streets of Alex.
I'll do a double check on that one at the end of this match, eh?
I think Arsene is not pleased with Susu Sudio. Instead of waxing lyrical with Phil Collins he was singing Smoking in the Boys Room.
Sounds like a plan.
High and wide by Caz after a give and go with Giroud.
The Canaries go two up in the East Anglian Derby.
Good tip over by Ospina from Lukaku's effort.
Ospina does well to tip over an effort from the Chunk.
Ospina does well to tip over an effort from the Chunk.
The corner from Garbutt is headed away then Coq Au Vin blocks for another corner.
Lewis Grabban with the Canaries second goal.
A clash of heads between Coq Au Vin and Giroud and the Champagne man is the worse for wear. He is being treated for a nose bleed.
I don't think that is what they meant by the French Connection.
Coq au Vin is back on his feet but looks a bit worse for wear. Surely he'll be replaced before long.
Coq Au Vin is plugged up as play is about to resume. It does.
Norwich look good to go in that East Anglian Derby. That will be a crucial win for the Canaries.
Oh - more good work from the Spaniard after Lennon stabbed toward goal from Coleman's cross.
Coleman goes on a run down the right and his pass is nearly diverted in by Lennon, who sees his effort smothered by Ospina.
This is definitely the lesser of the two Prem matches on offer today. Enjoyed seeing the highlights of the early one at half-time. Quite a goal from Henderson.
I am a little disappointed. I thought it would be a more entertaining match.
Caz tracked back well on Barkley there. They seem to be happy to grind this one out.
Let's hope for a cracking League Cup Final.
Im' sure dad and Gooner are starting to bite their nails while Someone is still hopeful of the Toffees getting something out of this match
I sure hope so. It's hard to tell with this League Cup Final.
Here comes Stephen Naismith to add some firepower to this Everton attack.
Besic racing off to be replaced by Naismith.
A training pitch move but Barkley spoils it with a wild effort.
Naismith is on for Besic as the Toffees aim to tie this up. A short corner from Garbutt to Barkley is a waste as Barkley has a shot go out for a throw.
Koz will pick up a yellow card here as he trips up Lennon.
John Stones with a suicidal backpass that his mate Jags cleaned up.
Oh - Beaker should have scored. He looked a bit under confident as he ran on to the ball. He gave Jags time to recover and block.
And a poor corner from Beaker to boot. Not sure what's wrong with that kid.
More changes - Gibson for Stones for Everton. And Rosicky for The Ox for the Arse.
It's Gareth Barry to come off for ex-Utd man Gibson instead.
Good punch out there by Ospina.
Late cameo for Welly as Alexis is rested.
The Little Neviller is unhappy that Welly was let go by United. Your thoughts?
GOAL! Rosicky wraps things up with a deflected effort off Jags and past Timmy.
2-0!
Oh dear - that's the Giroud from Wednesday - a clear header but past the post.
That's it - the Giroud and Rosicky strikes do it for the Gunners. They're up into third now.
Everton however are now having to look over their shoulder at other relegation dogfighters. They're only six points off the drop zone.
And we're off to the League Cup Final now.
Back for the Capital One Cup Final and 0-0 four and a half minutes in
Team news out of Wembley:
Chelski - Cech, Ivanovic, Zouma, JT, Azpi, Ramires, Cahill, Fab, Willian, Diego Costa, Hazard. Subs: Felipe Luis, Ake, Drogs, Remy, Cuadrado, Courtois, Oscar.
Spuds - Lloris, Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Bentaleb, Mason, Chadli, Ericksen, Townsend, Kane. Subs: Soldado, Lamela, Vorm, Dembele, Fazio, Stambo, Davies.
Lloris punches away a deflected cross from Ivanovic.
Harry Kane is tripped by Fab after speeding past Zouma.
Here's the PPP update I promised. Unfortunately, you're up of the picture, mate. You chose United to win and Arsenal to lose the final.
Here are the PPPers still in the picture today:
Blue Devil - Spurs to win
Gooner - Spurs to lose
Someone Said - Spurs to lose
UWS - Spurs to lose
Simon - Chelski to win
Oh - Eriksen's free kick goes off the bar!
OH!!! curling free kick from eriksen comes off the bar then Bentaleb with a shot that nearly clears London.
I'd have to say that on current form that's advantage to Simon and those who predicted a Spurs loss.
Kaner goes on a solo run , but his shot lacks power and is easily caught by Cech.
Just like last year. Is he going to come from behind again?
Could well be - a Chelski win would mean six points for him and he'd be on to 33 points.
That Hazard shot regardless, Spurs have been the better of the two sides in the early going.
