Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The teams are out on the pitch at Goodison in a return for Roon and Hair Bear.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
They're off from Goodison.
COME ON MAN UNITED!
The Toffees are aiming to beat United for the third time in a row at Goodison since 1987. United need a win to stay in an automatic CL position.
The Little Neviller is one of the announcers. A good choice since he played for both teams.
BUGGER !!!! JAMES MCCARTHY GIVES THE TOFFEES THE LEAD IN A COUNTER OFF A UNITED COUNTER.
It was a classic counter by the Toffees and a comedy of errors by United. Mata had a cross from a short corner headed away by Gareth Barry and Valencia idiotically back headed the ball to MccArthy , who played a one two with fellow Irishman, Seamus Coleman. The return ball deflected off of Paddy McNair and McCarthy slotted it pas De Gea.
Hair Bear blasts over with just Timmy to beat as he won the ball off of Gareth Barry. Mr. Overrated said he was fouled , but I didn't see anything wrong except for the finish.
Juan Mata was flagged offside as his cross was cut out for a corner. The replay showed him to be onside.
Celtic take the lead at Dundee United.
Naughty by Hair Bear on Coleman as there was a lot of mustard on that challenge. Another foul seconds after being lectured as he took out John Stones in an even worse challenge. The right decision and he will have to be on his guard the remainder of the match
Into the wall by the Chunk and it breaks to Leon Osman , who shot tamely to De Gea.
Yashley wins a corner off of the seventh Beetle seconds later
Hair Bear with yet another foul as there was a scramble in the box off the corner.
This match has been played at a breath taking pace.
Timmy saves easily from Blind off a great United possession.
Superb tackle by Luke Shaw on McCArthy then the Chunk wins a corner.
Roon heads away the curling corner from Baines.
Timmy does well to block from Luke Shaw after a nice one two with McNair Then Hair Bear wins a free kick.
Smalling heads straight to Timmy from the free kick by Mata.
United have dominated, but are trailing. I agree with the Little Neviller that United need to finish better and that every shot has gone straight to Timmy.
Herrera has a shot blocked because he took too long to shoot.
Celtic go two up at Dundee United.
Yashley has a cross headed out by Barry for a corner.
Hair Bear is called for a push on Gareth Barry off the corner from Yashley as he was climbing for a header.
The Chunk has a powerful long range effort go straight to De Gea.
Yashley shoots high and wide from the D as the ball was chested down to him by Roon off a pass from Valencia.
Coleman with a foul on Yashley that is taken short.
Valencia with a cross that is well overcooked.
A long United possession is ruined by a useless pass from Herrera.
McCarthy superbly blocks a powerful effort from Yashley
Smalling superbly cuts out a cross from Coleman for a corner on a break similar to that of the goal.
The corner from Baines is headed out by Hair Bear for another. The next one from Baines is headed out by Shaw for a third.
DAMN IT!!! JOHN STONES SCORES HIS FIRST EVER PREM WITH A HEADER OFF THE THIRD CORNER. YASHLEY WAS ON THE LINE , BUT THE HEADER FROM STONES CAME OFF YASHLEY'S HEAD AND OVER THE LINE. THE TOFFEES ARE TWO UP.
Roy Keane seems to be having a laugh with Ray Lewington about this United performance.
Falcao warms on the touchline.
McNair clears for a corner off a chipped pass and miscommunication between him and De Gea.
This corner from Baines was overcooked and nothing came from it.
Luke Shaw wins a corner off the LUFC Academy player.
A waste as hand ball is called and it was a decent corner.
Celtic go three up at Dundee United.
Barkley shoots over on a Toffees counter.
A minute of stoppage time.
Morning, MUR - sorry to have joined you late on this morning. Kate and I had an exceedingly late night out last night in Buffalo, so I elected to set the alarm back an hour to catch up on sleep.
This doesn't look so good for United, two goals down now going into half-time.
A win for Celtic would leave them needing two more for yet another SPL title.
Good morning Bob. I agree. It's bleak for United.
The Toffees are two up at the half. Sigh.
Leigh Griffiths with a hat-trick for Celtic with the last one coming from the spot.
You've always got the interval for LVG to sort it out and the second half to get those goals back. Come on, Desmond!
Yes. We need the bishop to help. I think Hair Bear may be subbed at the half. He's been booked and if he gets an early bath then the match is over. Also, The Toffees are winning the midfield battles. That needs to change.
Celtic win 0-3 at Dundee United and are two wins away from another title.
I guess I will need to be a Chelsea fan today, especially if United lose today
Nice - Gary Lineker on American telly. And he's got Arlo White and Lee Dixon with him. Lee has been down to see the Arsenal kit man.
I've got to stick with the Gunners today - sorry, lad.
No probs mate. Bruv will be pleased.
Radamel Falcao is on for Hair Hear - what are you thoughts on that change?
The second half is underway as I'm back from the bog.
It was inevitable. Hair Bear was in jeopardy of an early bath and we need goals.
A chance for United as Smalling headed down a corner and Timmy blocked a close range effort from Roon.
Luke Shaw covered Barkley really well there, but they ended up in a heap.
United are caught out on the counter yet again and Luke Shaw makes a great tackle on Barkley
Luke Shay and Ross Barkley are back up.
Makes sense - Hair Bear is always good for a second yellow.
A lively first few minutes of this half - may it only continue.
Before I forget, congratulations on Barnet winning promotion to the Football League after a two year absence. They finished a point ahead of Bristol Rovers, who went down last season.
It was a lively first half, but United lacked the cutting edge where it counts most.
Useless cross by Mata where it really does Mata.
North London will be proud this morning after Barnet's achievement.
Decent pull back from Shaw to Mata but there was a thicket of Everton players blocking the shot.
United fail to get a shot off yet again . That's been a problem the majority of this match
A nippy night out on the town last night? Sounds like winter has been having a grip on your area while it's been an early start to summer over here
So far, Falcao has done naught. He's gone eight matches without a shot on target and the last thing we need is for him to extend that streak.
Oh - The Chunk gets to the by-line and pulls back a really inviting cross. No one there to convert what would have been certain third goal.
There was too much weight on that challenge by Luke Shaw on John Stones.
I have a trivia question for you. what did Barnet do yesterday that has never been done before in the history of English Football.
Oh - that's a teasing trivia question. How about get promoted to the football league without a losing a league match?
Another substitution that does not inspire with confidence as the out of form Di Maria is about to come on.
Juan Mata making way for Angelo Di Maria. I'm a bit surprised - Mata had looked okay. Does Wayne Rooney ever get subbed? He's been quieter.
Like for like as Di Maria is on for Mata
I notice a few boos for Rooney but not convincing from the Toffees faithful.
Roon usually doesn't play well on his returns to Goodison
Luke Shaw is booked for pulling bak the LUFC Academy player.
I agree - Di Maria has been a mercurial one this season. Brilliant one match and hopeless the next. I wonder if he did that at the Bernabeu?
smalling tackles Coleman for a corner.
Nice covering from Smalling there - corner Everton.
He may have . That's why we're stuck with him.
Sorry mate. Barnet did not go undefeated, but it does have something to do with promotion to the Football League.
Sad to say, United don't look like scoring.
Mirallis is on for Leon Osman.
It's not their first time in the Football League, is it?
Jags does well to block from Di Maria.
It would only take one goal back and - game on!
No . It is not , but you're getting warmer.
The two subs combine, but a long ball from Di Maria is headed harmlessly by Falcao straight to Timmy.
That's Falcao's first shot on target in nine matches and that was a tame one. Sigh.
They're first time gaining promotion with an all amateur side - no professionals?
LOL!!! I think every Conference side has professionals. Are you stumped?
GOAL!!! GAME ,SET AND MATCH AS MIRALLIS, GIVEN THE FREEDOM OF LIVERPOOL FINISHES PAST THE STRANDED DE GEA.
Bloody hell - that's torn it. 3-0 Everton. Mirallas with the finish.
United players , failing to understand the offside rule, as the Chunk was not interfering with play let the ball run to his fellow Belgian , who finished easily past De Gea.
Not quite yet - the first time a team has had two (or maybe three) consecutive promotions and relegations. Barnet are the ultimate yo-yo side?
That's two goals where Valencia was caught out of position despite a nice long ball from Ross Barkley. Valencia left Mirallis all alone for a simple finish.
Well done . I'll give you credit . As far as I know, Barnet are the first team to win promotion to the Football League three times.Their first spell in the Football League was from 1991 to 2001 and their second spell was from 2005 to 2013. Well done for the small club.
Not a good day for the ManYoo fullback for sure.
He's had plenty of those . It's a bad habit that LVG needs to disperse of.
Roon heads tamely to Timmy off a corner. That's A microcosm of United's performance today
Falcao has the ball inside the large rectangle, but is miles offside.
RVP warms up. He doesn't have much time to make an impact.
De Gea does well to tip over a long range effort from Mirallis
The final rolls of the dice from Roberto and it's the double switcheroo. He brings on two strikers despite being three up late on . Kone is on for the Chunk and Naismith is on for Barkley. LVG responds by bringing on RVP for Roon.
I'm still guessing. Barnet are the first Conference side to be promoted with a foreign coach?
Interesting point from the Little Neviller. Rooney doesn't enjoy returning to Godson. Something that Van Gaal should take into account?
Three minutes of stoppage time
Aha! I've just seen your answer - so I did sort of get it right finally. Nice trivia question.
I gave you credit at 10:05 . The summary is listed.
Cheers mate. I thought it was interesting.
United will end the weekend in fourth. Sigh. I hope they thrash the Baggies at OT next saturday
Sorry, mate - that wasn't pretty. But keep in mind that CL footie is locked up tight.
It's over as the Toffees thrash United 3-0. They defeat United at Goodison for the third consecutive season. Sigh.
Thanks Bob. I'm off to take Sparky for walkies on a sultry morning ahead of the late match.
Next up is the big one - Arsenal v. Chelski. Both have two matches in hand on Citeh and United. A win for the Arsenal today would bring them back up to second ahead of Citeh. A loss would keep Citeh in second and would take Chelski one step closer to the title.
Here is the team news out of the Emirates this morning:
Arse - Ospina, Bellerin, Mert, Koz, Monreal, Coq Au Vin, Caz, Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis, Giroud. Subs: Sussudio, Debuchy, Gibbs, Jack, Theo, Flamini, Welly.
Chelski - Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, JT, Azpi, Ramires, Matic, Willian, Oscar, Hazard, Fab. Subs: Cech, Felipe Luis, Zouma, Drogba, Mikel, Cuadrado
Jose claims that he's going for the win today but the presence of two middles - Ramires and Matic - in the starting XI belies that notion. He's playing it safe today.
No love lost between these two sides today. Last time they met up, Wenger went barging into Jose's technical area at the Bridge and shoved him around comically. I'm hoping for more of the same today.
Back for the late match between Chelsea and the Gunners as they're off from the EM.
Chelski to get us going in this crucial battle.
He should go for the win and sew up the title ASAP. I would.
Welcome back, mate - what's your prediction for today's match? Will Arsene end his 12 match hoodoo against Jose? Or will he just push him around in his technical area again?
It's a return to the EM for Fab and he gets a hostile reception.
Cheers Bob. I predict that neither will happen . I predict a draw or a one goal win for Chelsea.
Ivanovic trips Alexis just outside the box and Cahill is not happy about something.,
The free kick from Caz is straight to Courtois.
Alexis has a shot deflected for a corner off a long possession.
Probably a safe guess. Not surprised by Fab's hostile reception.
The corner is headed away then Coq Au Vin fouls Willian as Chelsea attempt a break. It looks to be a cagey affair.
Oscar goes down easily , looking for a penalty. Clumsy by Bellirin, but not a penalty
Naughty by Ivanovic on Alexis and what will Michael Oliver do? He rings over JT , along with IVanovic and gives him a final warning.
Courtois clears a poor back pass out of play as he was pressured.
Naught by Coq Au Vin on Hazard, but not much of one.
Hazard is the most targeted player in the Premiership.
Monreal wins a corner off of Fab.
That is true. He is a hazard to opposition defenses.
OH!!! the gunners were caught out as Fab played a superb long ball for Oscar. He chipped Ospina and Bellrin headed off the line to prevent a goal.
Oh - a close call there for the Arse. Nodded out by Bellerin.
Oscar is down off that clash with Ospina. WTF about that being like Schumacher. This was nothing close to that. Schumacher went out to end a player's career while Ospina mad e a genuine attempt to go for the ball.
Oscar and Ospina had a nasty clash of heads there. The commentators are claiming a foul and potential penalty on Ospina. I don't see that at all. Purely accidental.
I agree with you - the Schumacher incident was deliberate.
Cahill heads well wide from the corner by Fab
Treason by Lee against his former Gunners. He's way off the mark.
Decent cross there but JT got the telltale header on it.
A draw would mean that Chelsea would have to wait until Saturday in the early match vs Palace to clinch the title. Otherwise , I can get some extra kip next Saturday
The home fans are delighted as Fab is booked for diving off a challenge from his Spanish teammate, Caz. Really poor by Fab.
There's a popular decision. Cesc goes down with no contact and is booked for simulation. Disgraceful from him. Lee Dixon is completely wrong about that.
Lee Dixon is calling for a penalty. Why is he so keen for a penalty to be called?
Plenty of talking points already but this one does smell like a 0-0 er.
We should be the pundits today, mate. They're getting these things completely wrong.
I just checked the table. Liverpool can get within four points of us if they win at the KC on Tuesday., That loss really hurt us today.
Alexis isn't happy about Ozil's ball there, which was behind him and didn't help him at all.
I agree. We couldn't do any worse. I' thinking more of a one niller , but not to the Arsenal.
Should have been a corner there as JT blocked Giroud's volley.
Well, Chelski have certainly been more positive than I'd imagined and more positive than they were against United for sure.
Naughty by Alexis on Oscar
Chelksi's midfield brigade just seem to be that little bit quicker to the ball today.
I agree. I think Jose wants to get this tile done and dusted by Wednesday
The home fans seem to have put Fab off his game , to the delight of the Gooner, dad, and Simon. I hear heckling from Alex.
Another crucial defensive header from JT.
This match has been a perfect example of textbook tackling , but not much else.
Two quite evenly matched sides - not a lot between them.
Was that a handball from Cahill? No - Michael Oliver felt it was unintentional.
Cahill blocks from Caz off a superb volleyed pass from Alexis. The Gunners want a penalty, but they don't have case.
Coq Au Vin has been booked for a foul.
OH!!! A Brazi swap that should have given Chelsea the lead . A nice through ball from Willian for Ramires and his scuffed effort is easily saved by Ospina.
Giroud fails to make good contact from the corner by Ozil. Chelsea counter , but the Gunners win it back and Alexis drags a shot wide off a pass by Caz.
A couple of key blocks by Chelsea players. particularly , Cahill. Then Ozil shoots straight to Courtois.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
It's 0-0 at the end of a really cagey first half.
Definitely a cagey affair, as you'd predicted. Smells like a 0-0.
No contact yet between the two managers - should be a fascinating handshake moment at the end.
Drogba is on for the injured Oscar as he was involved in that clash with Ospina. It may be a tactical switch too.
The second half is underway
I think there is more likely to be a goal scored in a 0-0 draw than the managers shaking hands. I think they will avoid each other at all costs.
When I saw the replay of that head clash again it was clear that Oscar was woozy. I've shocked that he continued on.
Jose says the easiest thing is to win a match 1-0. That will be just fine for his side today.
I am too. The FA will definitely need to investigate why that happened or else a dangerous precedent may be set.
What injuries other than Diego Costa's are they talking about now? Absolutely ridiculous. This is nearly a full strength side and still Jose is playing it safe.
You may be interested to know that Rotherham host Reading on Tuesday. A win by Rotherham will relegate both Evil wigan and the Evil Lions, making the match at ER a moot point. I'm sure you would love that.
Ospina is done after clashing with his own defender, Kos. He's not going off for treatment either. WTF!
I would love that - but if things go pear shaped for Rotherham on Tuesday, I'd be okay with our throwing that last match. We don't need the points.
Perhaps Jose is banking on victories vs the Foxes and Palace at SB.
I don't see Nice Neil do that, but Evil Neil may have. Reading are safe , so they may do what you want Leeds to do.
Fab called for a foul on Caz. No love lost between Spanish teammates.
Alexis goes over under a challenge from Fabregas. He's on that card so he needs to be careful now. How much would the Em crowd love to see him go off?
High and wide by Hazard which he is to the Pie vendor after Apzi picked Ozil's pocket, but no loose change.
That would make their day. We would hear cheering in the streets of Alex, not Alexis.
The Gunners going for nine consecutive Prem wins. That would be quite an accomplishment.
Another injury as it's been a clash of heads between Coq Au Vin and Drogba. He seems to be okay and was taken off to be checked.
Oil would seem like a liability in this kind of match. I'd put on a player who could put in a bit more work rate and would still be a threat up front - maybe Welly?
He may be , but he's unreliable. It's a possibility
The Gunners and Chelsea are both shooting blanks.
Oh - Ozil had an opening there but his heavy touch allowed Terry in. Time for the hook...
Willian in trouble now for clocking Koz - yellow card.
