Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Anyone Else Following the Matches This Afternoon?

I'm buried in a research paper this afternoon, with only a sideways glance and the scores as they come in from the two matches - Liverpool v. Hull and Rotherham v. Reading. Both have major implications for the relegation battles in the respective divisions. This is a marker so you can feel free to comment through the afternoon. Cheers!

This is Hull's make-up match. They're currently on 31 points from 33 matches with a GD of -14. A home win today would give them a good deal of security. They'd be on 34 points in 15th, with four matches to play. No safe but better. A loss really puts them in the mire.

Rotherham are even deeper in the mire. They've already been docked three points for fielding an ineligible player and are now a point above Evil Millwall. This, too, is their make-up match. Win and they will consign Millwall to L1 where they belong. Lose and it all goes down to Saturday. Reading are no great shakes either, as they're safe but currently in 19th.

I'm quite delighted by today's results. Brucey's Hull did a number on Liverpool, which mean that they're in pole position to survive. They still have some work to do at only 34 points from 34 matches, but with four matches to play, they've got five sides below them. One more win from their last four should just about do the job.

And Rotherham are safe after a 2-1 win. That consigns Evil Millwall, along with Wigan and Blackpool to L1 play next year.

WAY HAY!! Great to hear. Justice was done in terms of relegating two evil sides. Also, Pool's lose at the KC all, but ended any hope of them getting into the CL next season .A great result from a United point of view.
