The League Cup Final Live! (and some other matches)....
We needed a big Sunday after that rubbish Saturday that we suffered through yesterday. And we've got one! It all starts with United hosting Arsenal (2nd v. 6th). That's followed at 11am by this year's League Cup Final between Liverpool and Citeh, with huge implications for the PPP. Join me for a fun morning of footie banter.

Good morning, mate. How have you been? It could be a better starting Sunday depending upon which United shows up.
Hi Bob
I think I'll be commenting on my phone so I can actually pay attention to the TV more often
WOW!!!! That's fairly close to the lineup on Thursday. Will Marcus Rashford follow up his two goal debut performance from Thursday?
What time does Leeds kick off? I imagine the match is on the south coast
Good morning UWS. How have you been? I hope we see the United we saw in the second half on Thursday
Leeds plays tomorrow at 2:45 pm EST
Just checked it out
They don't play until tomorrow
I think you told me that yesterday
Morning MUR
IM NOT CONFIDENT AT ALL TODAY
I don't have BEIN so I'll have to follow the match at Wembley on the computer but will try to stream it on to the tv
No. I wasn't around yesterday. I just checked and see that they play tomorrow .
I'll be fascinated to have a look at Marcus Rashford, who scored a brace against Michelin in the mid-week EL romp.
The 18 year old academy product is part of a long, proud tradition at United - I'm glad to see that United continue to produce players like Rashford.
Hello UWS. I'm nor sure about this match. The one thing in our favor is that the pressure is on the Gunners because they have to win to keep pace after the Foxes grinded out a result, scoring a late winner in Fergie time.
Morning, boys - how are you? I'm really looking forward to these two matches (plus following Spurs v. Swansea). Great to have you on board.
I think LVG is telling the established players that they have sucked and are being replaced by the academy players. I'm not buying the stories that there are injuries.
Cheers Bob. It should be a great Sunday
Approximately 200,000 people in just three stadiums today!!!
90,000
76,000
36,000
That's right - not sure why we're playing on a Monday afternoon, but I'm hoping that it means that I might be able to dial in to BEin for coverage from the office tomorrow. I don't really expect much from the match (a bit like last night's contest between Clinton and Sanders in South Carolina - sigh).
I know there are injuries but boy that bench is weak
Gone are the days of taking off Yorke and Cole and bringing on Sheringham and Solskjaer
As I said yesterday, United win today and Wednesday and City lose at Anfiled...United would be equal on points with City
I know...very wishful thinking
FYI, I just walked passed my computer and pictures were rotating on the screen.... The picture I saw was two Dahlgrens cutting a wedding a cake
Lovely picture and great day seeing everyone
The teams are out in the tunnel . De Gea will have to have a big day today
Nice analogy, Bob. I hope you get something at Brighton Beach tomorrow. A similar situation for us vs the Gunners
A must win for the Spuds today if they want to keep pace with the Foxes.
"It's always big between these two." I agree - do you?
I fear Arse are going to rip the United defense apart with their pace
Cheers, mate. We recently finished putting together our wedding album, so we've been looking at those pictures all over again. A great day out - and we really appreciate your making the effort to come.
Away we go
They're off from OT
And Arsenal get us underway, playing toward the Stratford End in their horrible gold and blue number. So, United have won the first contest of the afternoon - the coin toss.
It's sunny in Manchester in February , so who knows? Any thing is possible
Wouldn't have missed it
A mere 8 hour drive was a doddle
The Gunners attack from the off and Wellie has a shot deflected straight to De Gea.
3.14 with a first chance to stretch his legs there.
Passing in the back very dangerously
Mata dribbles the wrong way and loses it
The gunners should have let him keep dribbling
United go down the right but fail to get the ball over
CROSS THE DAMN BALL
It was a pleasure attending the wedding . I'm glad I went
Units have a free kick
They go backwards and almost lose the ball so they thump it up field. Do that when you have a FREE kick
LI have audio in the other match and heard that Lloris had to make a world class save to prevent the Swans taking the lead.
NBC having problems with their coverage
Dave, remember the 8-2 and 6-1
Those were the days
Great save by De Gea
Saw that run all the way
Where was the defender
Another great save by Twilight from Nacho. Massive miss for the Arsenal.
PHEW!!!!Monreal should have given Arsenal the lead after being put through by Ozil. Great Chest save from De Gea
Cross the ball!!!!!
I remember both matches. The 6-1 was handed to us by some Latvian defender having a mare and the 8-2 was in August the day after Melanie's Bat Mitzvah . I stayed inside that day because it was 106 outside.
D3.14 had a chance to take them but he tried a weak flick
If Memphis can produce the form from Thursday then United could pull off a surprise. De Gea will be a key player today
Very little travel for United in the month of March. Who said the EL required tons of travel?
We had no power for the 8-2 because of Hurricane Sandy
The 6-1 one was when my computer access was poor. I opened up window and the score was already 5-1
Oh - a foul just outside the area. Could easily have been given as a pen. Rashford again - what an exciting prospect.
Great run by Rashford
Free kick just outside box...just
BLOODY HELL!!! YOUNG RASHFORD WAS FOULED BY GABRIEL. SURELY THAT WAS A PENALTY
Nice effort by D3.14
Oh - Memphis rifled that one in and Cech did well to gather it. Any parry would have allowed a number of United strikers to follow on.
Great save by Cech off the free kick from Memphis
United are playing well so far.
I wonder why Gabriel wasn't booked. Surely a card was merited.
Well, at least United are doing better than they did at the Em
Agreed. It won't be easy for the Gunners
United with a throw in
Lingard beat a man but didn't cross it. He cut back to beat the man again
Again... Cross the damn ball
Wellie vs Rashford. Both played locally for the same youth club prior to joining the United Academy
The Gunners are lucky Craig Forson didn't call a penalty . They could have been a goal down
Similar kinds of players?
Wow
Charles Lindburg signed for United!!
So much for the youth movement
Arsenal working their way into the match, albeit with a load of tippy tappy nonsense going nowhere.
ALexis volleys wide off a poor headed clearance by Blind off a cross from Monreal
Not liking that LVG is getting credit for playing the youth
He has been forced to because of the injuries
He's sent most them on loan!!!
WOW!!!! The Swans have taken the lead at SFL
Spurs losing
Actually, that's the one good thing we can say about him. He has given them a chance when others may not have
Alberto Paloschi with the goal. As expected , their most familiar player scored
Lovely jubbly!
Carrick booked for a clumsy foul on Wellie. Alexisais offside on the free kick
But he's had no choice
I don't think he wanted to
Why would he let Wilson and Keane go out on loan
Bob should not be surprised that Leeds play tomorrow. Isn't it an annual tradition that they play on tomorrow's date?
I'm thinking that they didn't play well like the players , who are supposedly injured or are they? I don't think Jose would have . He has a horrible record with youth development
What do the United player's in the seats have in common? They have all really sucked recently and have been big time Charlies
A booking for wellie? He was called for tripping Carrick.
Is it? Brighton v. Leeds on February 29? Aren't we having a February 29 only because of the Leap Year?
United not doing much as of late
goal!!!
Rashford
GOAL! Rashford again! What a hero!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! RASHFORD SCORES ON HIS PREM DEBUT. WHAT A FINISH
Look what happens when you cross the ball into the box!!!!!
Great ball in from the right, Gabby made a hash of it and Rashford followed in. Who needs Rooney?
1-0!
Don't sit back
Try and score more!!
Everything is going hunky-dorey for the Foxes
What a cross from Varela after Herrera won a key tackle in midfield and and Mata superbly played Varela down the right. Gooners will not be pleased with the defending
Holy crap - he's done it again!!!!!
2-0!
WAY HAY!!!! JUST LIKE THURSDAY IT'S RASHFORD AT THE DOUBLE AS HE HEADS IN FROM CLOSE RANGE
Wow
I'm gobsmacked
On a hat-trick two games in a tow
Half an hour gone, and the 18 year old is on a hat-trick. And not only a hat-trick but a perfect hat-trick. He just needs a left footed finish now.
Good point bob
Credit to Jesse Lingard as he had a cross headed out and Varela kept it alive . Then Lingard crossed for Rashford to score with a header at the far post. As with the first goal , it started with a great ball down the right from Mata
This morning's scorelines will be great news in Leicester, who are now five points clear. United have moved back into 5th.
Memphis with a shot that landed in Warrington.
Agreed. They will be delighted.
Credit to Fletcher Moss Rangers , who have produced Rashford , Wellie, and B-J. A much better record than the expensive Hoddle Academy.
Come on United
Don't stop attacking
Don't let them back in
Has UWS been feeding been talking in Arlo's mic?
Should have been the Merseyside derby today
Bad scheduling there
Agreed. The first time they've played like the United of old in years
Damn it
Oh dear - Welly has scored one back. It really is Rashford v. Welly. Poor defending.
2-1.
DAMN . WELLIE HEADS IN A FREE KICK TO PUT THE GUNNERS BACK IN THIS MATCH.
All three goals from players that played for Fletcher Moss Rangers
Terrible defending
No one in the Arsenal half except Rashford
Not good!!!
United cannot afford to defend so deep. They need to press the Gunners
Rashford has scored as many goals for United as Falcao
Rashford goes forward with the ball
That's what I want to see
Great stat, UWS. He has matched Messi's midweek performance.
That didn't look a foul on Wellie
Then United have a throw in and go backwards
Get themselves in trouble and now a free kick
Stupidity!!!!
Two minutes of stoppage time.
Now a corner
United their own worst enemy
Into the wall by Ozil then Alexis has a shot come off of Memphis for a corner
Another corner
Arsenal have another free kick chance right on the stroke of half time.
Ozil to float it in - no tried a shot into the wall.
Arsenal want a pen for handball
Rashford heads away the corner. Another corner. Off the line by Schneiderlin
Lingard is offside on a United break
Lingard offside
Stupid to be
Ht
Good but could have been better
United lead 2-1 at the end of an exciting first half, but the Gunners are coming back into this match. The Swans are one up at the half at SFL.
A cracking first half - can't wait for more!
It was Rashford that hand balked and could have been sent off
The kid can't stay out of the action!
The most excitement since SAF was in charge
The second half is underway from sunny Manchester . How often do we say that?
Campbell and Giroud are on the Gunners bench
The magic sponge is needed as Rashford has "cramp."
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
I fear United are going to sit back
I sure hope not. That will just invite the Gunners
Arsenal on the front foot so far in the second half.
Two games for Welbeck at OT
Two goals
Theo goes down too easily off a challenge from Rojo
I wish he scored that consistently when he played for us.
This is the type of game I feared
Lingard is down off a foul from Ozil.
Tmi
I'm the loo upstairs listening to audio
LVG taking off Rojo
Another debut for United . Tim Fosu-Mensah, from the Ajax Academy, is on for Rojo,, who was injured off a challenge from Wellei
Schneiderlin with a decent effort blocked by Coq Au Vin.
253 is the total of all the United shirt #s added together
Slightly different than 66 like it should be
If you're on the bog listening to the audio, is the Nocito Curse still in effect?
Memphis with a swerving effort straight to Cech
I hope the curse works in United's favor
Arsene going to his bench for Olivier Giroud.
Not sure about the curse
United haven't conceded so maybe I'll stay here
Kate is delighted to get a glimpse of her favorite French footballer.
Great match and proof that the players with lower numbers have sucked this season
Giroud on for Theo, who has done little today
Apparently Fabianski is having a blinder helping out his ex club
As long as Kate's favorite player is a pretty boy and no more than I am delighted.
Isn't he helping out the Foxes.
GOAL! Herrera with a great curler!
3-1!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! WHAT A GOAL FROM HERRERA . IT'S 3-1 UNITED. GREAT SWERVING LONG RANGE EFFORT.
Herrera with the goal off a deflection
Assist by Rashdord
A bit fortunate on the replay - it took a huge deflection off Koz.
And guess who laid it on for him? Yep - Rashford.
It all started deep in the United half. Blind won a tackle , passed to Varela, then he found Mata , who passed down the right to Rashford. His direct running forced back the Gunners defense as he picked out Herrera for that fanatastic finish
Bellerin tackles Memphis for a corner on a great attack
Good fast attacking by United
That's more like it
Rashford now has two goals and an assist
United are being positive today for the most part
Keep it going
Don't sit back
GOAL! Ozil with another goal back for the Arsenal. Wow!
DAMN !!!! OZIL SCORES A REBOUND AFTER DE GEA MADE A GREAT CLOSE RANGE BLOCK FROM WELLIE
Great save by de Gea
Lucky strike by Ozil
For once, Arsenal try something but pumping the ball into the box and it comes off. A jammy goal with Ozil shinning it into the turf beyond Twilight. But they all count.
3-2.
Oh dear - handbags now. Ramsey and Mata involved.
Ramey pushes down D3.14
Petr Cech trying to shoo all the players away. Ramsey seems panicked about it. Yellow to Ramsey in the end of that.
Ramsey only gets a yellow
Ramsey is booked and really should have been sent off. Herrera is booked too.
Herrera clipped Ramsey and Ramsey retaliated pushing him over. He could have easily gone.
Herrera also booked.
It was Herrera and he gets a yellow too
Spurs tie it up
Chadli ties it up for the Spuds vs Swansea.
Back to the goal, as Alexis put in a great cross as it was flicked on by Giroud. Wellie had the shot blocked and Ozil put away the rebounds.
El Neny booked for a rash foul on Memphis as he was not walking like an Egyptian
Herrera called for a foul on alexis ,w ho went really easily.
Fantastic action from LVG - wow!
Wow
LVG IN THE TECHINAL AREA AND FLOPS!!!!
LVG in the technical area? What's going on. It looked like he was pushed down
The OT faithful loved that. A rare bit of passion from the stoic Dutchman.
I love it! UWS probably couldn't believe what he was watching
I can't wait to see the Men in Blazers' take on that one.
Was LVG attempting to simulate the flop from Alexis?
Spurs now in the lead - Danny Rose with the 2-1 lead. Arsenal really under the cosh now.
Mixed emotions for Bob as the Spuds have come from behind to lead 2-1. The goal from the LUFC Academy in the form of Danny Rose.
I lost NBC coverage
Had to reboot dvr
Spurs take the lead
As far as I'm, concerned, Citeh are out of the title race. It's down to three teams.
Giroud heads well over.
Jan is on for Rashford, who had quite a performance.
Rashford sucks
Can't score a damn hat-trick!!!
I'd like a Leicester/ Spurs scrap for title
Varela tackles Wellie for a corner.
Memphis heads away the corner. Now Nacho fouls Memphis on the break
A few boos for Wellie as he's replaced by Iwobi. Some applause too/.
