Sunday in the FA Cup
With Leeds' exit at Watford yesterday afternoon, the FA Cup lost of its luster for me, of course. However, I'm here on Sunday morning dutifully watching and covering today's matches. We start with Blackburn v. West Ham at 9am, followed sharpish with Spurs v. Palace at 10am. Then at 11am is the biggie - Chelski v. Citeh. If your spirit hasn't been crushed already, join me this morning.

Good morning mate. I'm here to help you get over the disappointment .It will be a great Sunday
FOX hasn't learned. They are airing wrestling cowboys instead of the FA Cup. NBC would have had coverage an hour ago.
Morning, MUR. Hope you're enjoying a nice weekend.
You're absolutely right - Fox have learned nothing from NBC. Only a five minute build up to the first match.
Finally. FOX shows the lineups then off to a commercial break. Bloody hell! Lexi and Ian Joykill are lazy this morning.
Thanks Bob. It was a hectic day yesterday, so I'm hoping for a more relaxing day today. How about you and Kate?
The teams are out on the pitch at Ewood Park:
Blackburn Rovers: Steele; Marshall, Duffy, Ward (c), Henley; Bennett, Lenihan, Akpan, Taylor, Conway; Brown.
Subs: Raya, Kilgallon, Hanley, Watt, J Gómez, Evans, Jackson.
West Ham United: Randolph; Antonio, Collins, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Noble (c), Kouyate, Obiang; Payet, Moses, Emenike.
Subs: Adrian, Song, Henry, Lanzini, Oxford, Parfitt-Williams, Browne.
THey're off from Ewood Park as Paul Lambert and Slaven the Slav exchange pre match pleasantries.
We had a nice evening out with friends at a restaurant way out in ski country - the Pine Junction.
Johnno will be pleased that Slaven has put out a fairly strong lineup.
Early free kick chance for West Ham. Hard to take it in this blustery wind.
ANtonio is hacked down just outside the Rovers box.
Victor Moses has a shot come off of Shane Duffy for a corner off the free kick from Payet.
I'm glad you and Kate had a great evening. It's sounds a bit chilly. We've been unusually warm with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
This one is not going to be pretty. Both sides like to kick opponents and are fond of a long ball. And the conditions won't help.
James Collins is called fora foul on Brown
The free kick from Elliott Bennett is headed away then Lenihan is booked for a cynical foul on the Coyote on the break
Lenihan goes into the book.
Agreed. I blame the blustery conditions and Rovers since Paul Lambert is fond of playing aggressive football.
John Moss seems to be letting Rivers get away with a lot for some reason.
It seems that Rovers have had several cup runs in recent years. Are they taking advantage of playing weakened Prem sides.
It so windy that the ball is blown out of the corner arc , but Elliott Bennett eventually whips it in and Akpan heads over.
Without Jordan Rhodes, Blackburn's firepower has been significantly diminished.
All the goals in this round have been scored in the second half and all but two have been scored or assisted by players from the MUFC Academy .
Agreed. I'm not sure who their main threat is now.
Taylor wins a Rovers corner
GOAL! Famous lost words - Marshall with the opening goal for Blackburn! Great finish.
1-0!
GOAL !!!!! BEN MARSHALL GIVES ROVERS THEW LEAD WITH A LONG RANGE EFFORT THAT CAUGHT OUT DARREN RANDOLPH AT HIS NEAR POST. THE CORNER FROM ELLIOTT BENNETT WAS HEADED OUT AND MARSHALL HIT IT FIRST TIME JUST INSIDE THE POST.
The announcer said that it's his one hundreth appearance for Rovers. What a way to commemorate that.
Johnno will be none too pleased.
The Coyote is called for a foul on Shane Duffy after a long Hammers build up.
Bob will not be too pleased to hear the announcer criticizing the Leeds performance at Vicarage Road.
Oh - Collins had a half chance there from a cross in. Just wide - it actually came off Akpam in the end. Should have been a corner.
A Hammers corner is headed out then John Moss awards a goal kick even though the return cross was headed out by Akpan.
GOAL !!! VICTOR MOSES TIES IT YP WITH A LONG RANGE EFFORT IN THE CORNER,
GOAL! The Hammers are back in business. Moses with the equalizer. Keeper should have got it, probably. But it's 1-1!
The goal came right out of the blue as the Hammers benefitted from the decision to award a goal kick as James Collins played back the goal kick from Jason Steele to Victor Moses. He went on a solo run and for the first time this match, the Rovers defense backed off and Jason Steele should have done better with his long range effort.
The Coyote shoots over as he was off balance after head tennis in the Rovers box.
The announcer referred to the Leeds performance as anemic . Those sound like fighting words, mate.
Yeah - we were anemic yesterday. True words. Still - we probably did enough to earn a draw before your lad put through our net.
Antonio has a shot deflect straight to Jason Steele as Rovers can't get the ball off the Hammers
Sorry mate. He's no longer ours. A draw probably would have been fair. It might spur you on to promotion run next season. If the Cherries can do it then why not the Whites.
Taylor brings down Obbiang about 25 yards from goal.
Free kick to the Hammers now - a decent distance.
GOAL! Great shot by Payet - marvelous!
1-2!
GOAL !!! PAYET BENT IT LIKE BECKHAM AS THE FREE KICK SWERVED AND CURLED INTO THE CORNER . THE HAMMERS HAVE COME FROM BEHIND TO LEAD 1-2.
Cheering in the streets of Georgetown?
This is a competitive Cup tie, if not one with a lot of quality on display. That Payet free kick elevated it, for sure.
I would hope that Johnno is watching this morning.
The traveling Hammers fans are in full voice while the home fans are almost mute.
The Coyote wins a Hammers corner.
Collins heads over the corner from Payet
Time winding down on the first half, the Hammers sitting pretty so far.
Chris Taylor has a shot straight to Darren Randolph after James Collins gifted him possession and holding off several Hammers challenges. Into two minutes of stoppage time./
The Hammers have come from behind to lead 1-2 at the half.
They're off from SFL.
It's an all London tie with the Spuds in great form vs Palace, who are in horrible form
Scott Dann blocks an early shot from Harry Kane.
The SPuds win an early corner.
OH!!! Number One Son takes the corner and Cabaye clears a header from Alli off the line then young Josh Ononmah shoots the rebound over.
THe second half is underway from Ewood Park
Let the long balls commence again! We're into the second half now.
Jordan Mutch wins a corner off of Bentaleb on Palace's first attack of the match. It looked a penalty as it came off of Bentaleb's hand. the corner from Mutch was headed away. Dann headed on the next corner from Mutch and Ade couldn't connect on his return to SFL.
I'm also watching the Spuds vs Palace on a link. There should be moe quality in this match
Kyle Walker is down for the Spuds. Will he have a horrible early end to the match?
I posted some good news about yesterday on FB after the disappointing results of yesterday
Blackburn giving it a go here.
Kyle Walker seems to be okay after that earlier injury
I'll look forward to seeing that, mate. I really felt like I'd had the stuffing knocked out of me.
Zaha fouls Danny Rose just outside the Palace box .
Blackburn look set to make an attacking change, with Simeon Jackson getting ready to come on.
Red card for Chris Taylor! That could be curtains for Blackburn now. Silly boy
Joe Ledley heads away the free kick from Number One Son
OH!!! Nearly a Palace lead as Lloris had to back pedel to clear away a back pass from Walker that was nearly an OG
Great save by Jason Steele to keep Rovers in the match
I saw the red card on the replay. I thought that it merited a yellow. Was it really any worse than some of the other challenges?
It was his second yellow. He had to go.
Harry Kane has a volley out for a corner. The corner from Son is back to Son and cleared by Mutch
That makes sense . Thanks for the update. I had forgotten about the first yellow. What was he thinking as he basically cost his side any chance of getting back into the match
Great football by the Hammers. They're a class above Blackburn.
Simeon Jackson came on for Ben Marshall.
That's what it looks like - what channel is the Spurs v. Palace match on?
Definitely so and now that they're a man up. I sensed that Rovers may not have ended the match with all eleven after their early tactics.
I'm watching it on Fox Soccer2Go.
Kayoute has it in the net, but it's ruled offside.
Ah - good one!
The Coyote has a goal disallowed for offside. Rovers got lucky as the replay showed he was level and the goal should have stood.
GOAL! This one will count - 3-1 as Emenike strolls through to tap in after a massive scramble in the Blackburn box.
GOAL !!!! SURELY THIS ONE IS DONE AND DUSTED AS THE TEN MEN WREE SHREDDED APART AND EMENEKE SCORED WITH A SIDE FOOTED FINISH FROM A YARD OUT AT THE FAR POST. mOSES WAS TACKLED AND THE BALL RAN TO THE COYOTE WHO PASSED TO EMENEKE FOR AN EASY GOAL. 1-3 HAMMERS
As the Hammers were scoring, Della Alli was extremely unlucky not toi give the Spuds the lead as Number One Son passed to him and hios shot went off the inside the post and off the inside off the post and stayed on the line as Cabaye hacked it clear.
The last thing ten man Rovers need as Lanzini is on for Obbiang. He will run at this ragged Rovers side.
You will be surprised to note that Ade is being booed by the Spuds fans . What a shocker.
I'm sure Paul Lambert would take full time .
Not surprised there.
Slavan about to bring Alex Song on to wrap things up.
He's on for Mark Noble. The correct decision from Slaven.
Ade went to ground , looking for a penalty as he won a corner . Onomah heads out the corner from Mutch for another.
Now this is interesting! Red card for Kouyate for a last ditch foul denying a goalscoring opportunity.
It's a red card for the Coyote and the correct decision as he denied Elliott Bennett a goal scoring opportunity. It's ten vs ten
So ten men each with fifteen minutes to go. Can Blackburn claw their way back?
A tame free kick into tthe wall and the Hammers break. Nowthey have a corner,.
Lanzini shoots well over off the short corner.
Tony Watt is on for Chris Brown. Sounds famous
OH!!!! Emmeneke is offside as he misses a wide open goal
Great save by Jason Steele from Antonio as he was picked out by Victor Moses.
Great stop there from Moses. Could easily have been 4-1. West Ham defending by attacking.
JAson Steele rushes out to block as Victor Moses was about to connect from a through ball., The Hammers take a short corner and run time off the clock
Steele should have been able to gather that one.
Joe Ledlay fouls Della Alli and is lectured.
Hennessey superbly turns around the free kick from Harry Kane.
Lenihan is booked for Rovers
Lenihan is booked for a cynical tug back. I could have sworn that he'd already been booked in the first half.
GOAL! And Eminike streaks down and taps home the fourth for the Hammers.
GOAL !!!!EMMENEKE SCORES HIS SECOND GOAL AS THE HAMMERS NOW LEAD 1-4./
At least Leeds weren't turned over like this by Watford.
Oh - Eminike is inches away from the hat-trick, strikes the Sunday Roast.
oH!!!!Emmeneke missed a chance for a hat-trick as he played through by Payet and it went off the side off the post with just Jason Steele to beat
Just wide by Antonio as there are two minutes of stoppage time at SFL.
GOAL !!!!! MARTIN KELLY GIVES PALACE THE LEAD WITH HIS FIRST EVER PALACE GOAL . HE SHOT IN THE UPPER 90 AT THE NEAR POST, BEATING WORM
Palace are one up at the half.
Two minutes of stoppage time at Ewood PArk
Emenike is denied his hat-trick by the linesman's flag.
Emmeneke was well offside as he put away a rebound after Steele saved his initial effort.
Agreed, mate. Leeds put up much more of a fioght than these mugs.
GOAL! It's a rout at Payet scores the fifth!
GOAL !!!PAYET WITH HIS SECOND GOAL AS HE PUTS THE HAMMERS 1-5 UP. A GREAT SOLO RUN ,TURNED A DEFENDER THEN BEAT STEELE AT THE NEAR POST,.
The Hammers rout Rovers 1-5 and it could have been so much more.
That's that, then. WHR must have thoroughly enjoyed that 1-5 thumping. The Hammers in fine form as they glide into the Quarters.
Next up, the Moneybags Derby from Stamford Bridge.
Here's the team news:
Chelsea (4-2-3-1) Courtois; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Ivanovic, Baba Rahman; Fabregas, Mikel; Pedro, Willian, Hazard; Diego Costa.
Substitutes: Begovic, Miazga, Matic, Loftus-Cheek, Oscar, Traore, Remy.
Manchester City (4-4-2) Caballero; Zabaleta, Adarabioyo, Demichelis, Kolarov; M Garcia, Fernando, A.Garcia, Celina; Iheanacho, Faupala.
Substitutes: Hart, Clichy, Humphreys, Kompany, Fernandinho, Barker, Sterling.
Looks like a full-strength Chelski side against a joke team for Citeh.
The Guardian comment about the Citeh line-up:
“Fair to say the FA Cup is a competition in crisis, that such a big club as City is doing what was once only thinkable in the League Cup in the early rounds. The FA Cup is beyond salvation. It’s very sad but the culture has changed to such an extent that no gimmick can save it."
Celina looks like one of your spotty-faced students, MUR.
And Citeh get us underway wearing a hideous day-glo lime green number. How on earth am I a Chelski fan today?
Citeh's random kiddie team has started well. They've got nothing to lose, really.
I'm back for the late one.
Agreed. Definitely a team of jokers in the joke of a lime green jersey
Hennessey superbly saves from Harry Kane and Joe ward heads out for another. A foul is called on the next corner.
To be honest Citeh play in four competitions in the next four matches. Chelsea in the Fa Cup today, A marathon trip in midweek to try Chicken Kiev in the CL, Pool in the LC Final next Sunday , then Pool at Anfield in the Prem a few days later.
A chorus of boos as Ade leads a counter then cheers as he's easily tackled by Wimmer.
OH!!!!! A Spanish treat as Perdro had a shot come off the post with just Caballero to beat after a Fab run and pass from his international teammate.
A great run and pass from alli as it deflects off of Harry Kane and off of Dann for a corner as Onomah was about to connect at the far post. The corner was cleared.
Looks like Cahill has a bloodied nose, now. Is he going to have to join the Phantom of the Opera Club?
Another Spuds corner and their ninth is headed away. Now Connow Whickham founds Zaha on the break as he wins a corner off of Wmmer.
Dier heads away the corner from Mutch then it's headed back on and Zaha misses his kick
It's all Chelski pressure now.
It should be great theater. Sounds rather entertaining.
More gamesmanship from Diego Costa - expected at this point.
It's all Spuds as they search for an equalizer , but not like that as a long range effort from Bentaleb falls into the cheap seats
I wouldn't expect any different from him
A long range effort from Alli ism not too far wide. Then Hennessey saves a long range effort from Eriksen that lacked power.
This has been tighter than I'd expected. I thought the Blues might run over Citeh.
A decent start for Celina Gomez in the lime green jersey?
A long range effort from Fab is saved by compatriot, Caballero
LOL! I'll bet he can sing better than she can, MUR. Boom boom!
Not a single Englishman in the Citeh starting XI - only Hart and Sterling on the bench.
Eriksen clears for a Palace corner. Chadli is on for Number One Son.
Kane clears away the header from Dann off the corner from Cabaye
Still 0-0 there?
Cheers mate.Who is Pelligrini kidding by putting people like him in the lineup?
Chelsea are starting to exert their authority and experience, but it's taken half an hour.
No. Palace are one up thanks to a goal from Martin Kelly on the stroke of halftime.
I think it's all about him devaluing the Cup, with a CL clash with Dynamo Moscow in mid-week and then the League Cup Final with Liverpool at the weekend.
Wow - that would be quite an upset.
Zaha wins a corner off of Danny Rose. The corner from Cabaye is headed by Delaney straight to Worm
Kyle Walker win the Spuds tenth corner. Whickham heads out the corner from eriksen
Pedro Pan is offside as he controlled a pass from Ali Baba Top Raman
Cabaye receives the first booking of the match for a cynically tripping Danny Rose.
Citeh actually have a trip to Chicken Kiev in midweek. Wrong Dynamo and I'm surprised you missed such a tasty dish.
a free kick from Cabaye is headed out.
Shocking mistake by me - I love a bit of Chicken Kiev.
The commentator has reminded us of the United fixture at Shrewsbury tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'll be on the road back from a recruitment trip to Rochester tomorrow.
Bolasie is on for Ade, who is booed off the pitch. Blasie's first appearance in two months.
GOAL !!! COSTA HEADS IN A CROSS FROM HAZARD.
GOAL! Nice team goal by Chelski. 1-0!
Nice ball through from Fab to Hazard who lobs over to Costa to face-mask it past Caballero. Easy.
Nice one two between Fab and Hazard . Then he passed to Hazard , who got behind the Citeh kids and his cross was easily headed in at the far post by Costa
GOAL! Well, I never! Faupalo has equalized!
GOAL !!!! IHENACHO PASSES TO FAUPAULA , WHO TAPS IN AT THE FAR POST FOR A DEBUT GOAL
Nice interplay by Citeh's kids but Azpi should have been able to clear it.
1-1!
The goals were ninety seconds apart as Citeh had a throw and what looked like Celina found Ihenmacho down the right and his pass came off of Faupaula , who seemed to know little about it. Some sloppy Chelsea defending
Great save by Caballero from Fabregas!
Neiter team can afford a replay for the same reason as the Gunners and Tigers as either team has a midweek match, so a replay would probably be the weekend of the quarters
Scott Dann clears off the line from Onomah
Willian is wide with a long range effort.
GOAL !!!! No it's not and Bob will be delighted as Connor Whiickham has a goal disallowed for offside off a nice break from Blasie.
Hazard has a pass cleared for a corner by one of the kids., The halftime whistle blows before the corner could be taken and Citeh's kids are holding Chelsea 1-1.
Three minutes of stoppage time from SFL.
Onomah wins a corner off of Bolasie .A baker's dozen in corner, but yet to score as whickham heads away the corner.
Danny Rose is booked for fouling Zaha on the break
Chadli has a long range effort deflected for a corner. Eriksen takes , Kane heads on and Martin Kelly clears away and it's over as Palace surprisingly win 0-1 at SFL with a goal from Martin Kelly , his first in four years and his first ever for Palace.
The second half is underway from SB.
We're back on at the Bridge for the second half.
GOAL! Willian tucks home Chelski's second. 2-1!
GOAL !!! WILLIAN GIVES CHELSEA A 2-1 LEAD EARLY IN THE SECOND HALF.
Willian has been the player of the year for Chelski and you see why there. He ran from his own box, laid off a pass for Azpi who then picked him out in the box and he glided it by Caballero into the left corner. Great goal!
It all started when Cahill tackled Ihenacho off the throw from Zaba. He passed to Pedro , who found Willian. He went on a solo run and passed to Hazard, who played a slide pass back to him and he finished past the on rushing Caballero.
With Palace's shock win over Spurs today, these are the sides left in the Cup:
Arsenal or Hull
Watford
Reading
Everton
West Ham
Palace
Chelski or Citeh
Shrewsbury or United
You'd have to say that Arsenal, United and the winners of this match will be favorites for the Cup now.
Chelski looking to kill off the match now.
GOAL !!!CAHILL PUTS CHELSEA 3-1 UP.
GOAL! Cahill adds a third and Chelski are coasting it against Citeh's kids now.
3-1!
Willian had a corner headed out baCK TO HIM THEN HE PASSED TO pEDRO , WHOSE CROSS WAS HEADED OUT YB zABA to Hazard. He passed to Cahill , who scored with a powerful finish under Caballero.
Agreed. Probably Chelsea and the Gunners if they Gunners win the replay at the KC.
Pedro has a shot cleared off the line by Di Michelis off a slide rule pass from Willian. Ivanovic heads the corner straight to Caballero
Naughty by Fab on Garcia.
