Thank Goodness It's the Weekend!
After a long week at work, it's a pleasure to settle in at The Cottage to watch some of the good stuff. And good it certainly is today. We start with the relegation dogfight of the season - Norwich v. Sunderland. This one should settle that last relegation spot in the Premiership. That's followed by the 10am matches, including ManYoo hosting recently relegated Villa. Then we end up with Chelski v. Citeh at the end of the day. Join me for all the fun and games.

NBC Sports have gone all pitch-side this weekend, with Arlo White interviewing Neil Ashton right now.
Good morning mate. I'm here to join you for the action while Yellows is following the NBC theme by watching the match at CR
If the Canaries get anything out of this match then Villa are relegated before they will have kicked a ball in anger at OT.
Two matches were played yesterday in the Championship:
Seagulls 5 Cottagers 0
Tigers 2 Wolves 1
Teams out of the pitch now at Carrow Road:
Norwich City (4-2-3-1) Ruddy; Wisdom, Bennett, Bassong, Olsson; Howson, O’Neil; Jarvis, Naismith, Brady; Mbokani.
Substitutes: Rudd, Jerome, Hoolahan, Dorrans, Mulumbu, Redmond, Pinto.
Sunderland (4-1-4-1) Mannone; Yedlin, Kone, Kaboul, van Aanholt; Kirchhoff; Borini, Cattermole, M’Vila, Khazri; Defoe.
Substitutes: Pickford, Jones, O’Shea, Larsson, Toivonen, Watmore, N’Doye.
Morning, MUR - hope you're doing well this weekend.
So, is Sparky in confident mood?
Good morning, Bob. I'm tired after my first week back, but delighted to enjoy the pleasure of your company. How are you and Kate?
Jim Proudfoot and ex-LUFC on the mic as we get started.
They're off from CR
We're doing just fine. Busy weekend ahead. I've got an awards ceremony that I have to host this afternoon and then I'm speaking at a Bernie Sanders rally tomorrow lunch.
Ex LUFC was born and raised in Norwich and started his career with the Canaries.
Early corner oppo for Norwich now.
WOW! I'm busy too, but your weekend sounds far more interesting. I'm going car shopping with my father-in-law.
That free kick went straight through a shambolic Sunderland defense. They were bailed out by the linesman's flag.
Frantic defending by the Black Cats off a set piece ,, but the offside flag is raised as witnessed by Yelllows.
Oh dear - it's early handbags now. I missed the incident, Arsene Wenger style when I had a drink of my tea.
WTH? A foul by Robbie Brady on Yedlin. What is Fat Sam thinking? Not even a lecture? I guess managers are allowed to fight nowadays. He should have been sent off.
It was a clear shove by the Norwich player on Yedlin who slid straight into the hoardings headfirst. The ref elects not to speak with Robbie Brady.
Fat Sam should have been sent off.
Not sure how Brady and Fat Sam survived there.
Kaboul concedes a Canaries corner.
Black Cats all over the place at the set piece - Howson with a free volley.
Howson of the LUFC Academy has a volley blocked off a corner from Brady of the MUFC Academy.
Brady with an effort that Mannone easily smothers.
U think the reaction from Fat Sam and the poor defending shows that he is feeling the stress and he has transferred that to his players. Great leadership, Fat Sam
All Norwich City pressure so far - on the ball, City!
Agreed - it's squeaky bum time for Fat Sam and co.
A return to ER for your twin. Your thoughts?
If the Canaries get anything out of this match then Villa are relegated before the match at OT kicks off.
Which one is my twin?
If the Black Cats lose then isn't it might be too steep a mountain to climb for the two Geordie clubs.
Brian McDermott. Leeds will prove to him that being a successful manager is more than being a pretty boy. Correct, mate?
To answer your earlier question, Sparky is asleep on my bed while Fred is napping on my desk. He was watching me type comments earlier.
Ah yes, how could I forget? He's about four or five LUFC managers ago now.
Andre Marriner is being rather patient with all of these Sunderland fouls coming in.
Naughty by Kirchoff on Naismith. Should have been a booking
To be honest, it's kind of a meaningless match at ER as both teams have basically clinched survival.
Kaboul tackles for a Canaries cornner
Kirchoff heads out for another Canary corner.
Kaboul heads away and Matty Jarvis fouls Dafoe.
OH!!! The Black Cats should have scored. Kirchoff headed own the free kick and Borini shot inches wide
Oh - Cattermole found a good pass through to Borini but he couldn't take it in his stride. Good chance wasted.
John Ruddy goes Grobelaar by rushing way out of position, but fortunately for Yellows and the home fans, the bLack Cats fail to capitalize.
Danny Mills says that the first goal will be crucial. Talk about stating the obvious. I could have stated that tidbit of wisdom.
I agree - we really have nothing to play for. We're just playing out the string to get to the summer hols now. And we'll see what happens to the club in the summer.
OH!!!! Great trickery from Robbie Brady the Mannone with a world class save to prevent a Kaboul OG Canaries corner. The corner from Brady is headed away then Mannone superbly tips over a long range effort from one of the Olsson twins
Mannone fists away the next corner and Olsson forces a routine save this time.
Agreed. it should be an interesting summer.
Excellent volley from Olson, well tipped over by Mannone. Norwich are knocking on the door!
For you lot more than for mine. I can't claim that I've got a manager who has won several titles on different continents as well as a European Cup coming in to revamp my club.
Andre Marriner finally finds his cards.
I'm still not sure if we're getting Little Joe or Larry White. Yours has won several promotions with Crawley and Rotherham, so he might be the right man for the job at ER next season
He booked Khazri for a late challenge on Gary O'Neill. Not any worse than some of the other challenges.
Middlesbrough being frustrated by already relegated Bolton as it's 0-0 at the half at the Reebok. The Teesiders cannot afford to drop any points from this match.
BUGGER! The Evil Blades take an early lead in a local derby at Chesterfield. Jayne Mansfield takes an early lead vs Notts County in a Nottinghamshire Derby.
Cattermole tackles Matty Jarvis for a Canarioes corner.
Half-hearted appeal for a penalty there by Jarvis. Nothing doing.
After early jitters, the Sunderland backline has successfully frustrated Norwich.
It's 0-0 in the second half of a Scots Cup semi between Dundee United and Hobs. The Tangerines are bottom of the SPL while Hibs are second in the Championship , which is a playoff position.
I think you're right. Steve Evans, for all of his colorful antics, has steadied the ship at least. We're not pretty to watch but we're difficult to beat these days.
Penalty to the Black Cats - is Fred dancing up and down!?
PENALTY BLACK CATS AS ANDRE WISDOM IS CALLED FOR A FOUL ON BORINI. IT LOOKED A FAIR TACKLE, IMHO!
Borini to take....
little stutter step and scores!!!!
0-1 Black Cats! That's a huge goal!
GOAL !!!! BORINI TUCKS AWAY THE PENALTY IN THE CORNER.
Fred is napping on the couch. No reaction, mate.
I guess it was a foolish challenge by Andre wisdom.
Two minutes of stoppage time.
The Black Cats are one up at the half thanks to a penalty from Borini
Half-time - Those wily Black Cats go in 0-1 up after facing withering pressure at the beginning of the half. They're playing Fat Sam's game plan alright.
Duncan Watmore coming on for Sunderland at the start of the second half. The hosts to get us started.
The second half is underway and Duncan Whatmore is on for Khazri
Let's remind ourselves of the implications of this match. Sunderland would be 1 point shy of Norwich with a match to play if matters would be to stay this way.
The Canries win two corner in a minute
Norwich are claiming a penalty now - they're all looking to Andre Marriner to give soft pens.
YIKES! Already relegated Bolton take the lead vs Mioddlesbrough. That's a huge blow for the Teesiders in their hopes for automatic promotion.
Oh - Redmond with a daisy cutter that clips the outside of the post.
Mannone superbly turns around a long range effort from Redmond.
That's the first goal that Bolton have scored in yonks!
Josh Vela with the goal for the already relegated Trotters assisted by old man, Ivanhoe.
If you're depending on Grandpa IVanhoe for goals then you deserve to be relegated.
BUGGER!! The Evil Blades are two up at the half at Chesterfield in a local derby.
GOAL !!! DAFOE PUTS THE BLACK CATS TWO UP
GOAL! Ballhog Defoe slides in to put another knife into Norwich.
0-2!
Poor play by Bassong who was knocked off the ball too easily. Borini put in on a plate for Defoe.
One of the easiest goals that Dafoe has ever scored as Bassong had his pocket picked by Borini. He found Cattermole down the right and his pass was tapped in at the far post by Dafoe.
It appears that the final relegation spot will be between the Canaries and the Black Cats
Cattermole fouls Redmond midway between the box and the corner flag.
Naismith heads the free kick from Redmond up into the air then easily grabbed by Mannone. It takes four players to tackle Dafoe while Cattermole is booked for a poor foul in midfield. One of the Olsson twins also booked as he fouled Whatmore.
Wes Hoolihan is on for Matty Jarvis.
Jarvis off and Hoolahan on to try and spark Norwich's attack.
The Teesiders score a much needed equalizer at the Reebok. Who else, but Jordan Rhodes with the goal.
Yet another penalty shout. Kabboul leaning on Mbokani who went down very easily.
I didn't think it was a penalty.
Mannone tips over a miss hit cross from Wisdom and None Too Wise. The corner is out for another.
Cattermoile clears off the line from Mbokani.
Oh - Mbokani's effort is cleared off the line by Cattermole. Norwich giving it everything now.
Borini called for hand ball.
OH!!!! Superb save by Mannone from Mbokani off the free kick then Hoolihan had a shot blocked for a corner that leads to a waste of a Black Cats counter.
Seb Larsson on for Mvila.
Seb Larsson on now for the final twenty minutes.
Handbags now between Norman Wisdom and Van Aarnholt.
Handbags between Andre Wisdom and None Too Wise, and Paddy Van Arnholt. A lecture from Andre MArriner.
Into ET in the Scots Cup semi between Hibs and Dundee United. It's still 0-0.
Hey Guys
I have been out and about today.... already taken walkies
Thinking of moving the computer to living room to get closer to the TV
I'll hopefully be around for the 3 o'clockers
Stephen Naismith's day is over; Cam Jerome to come on for what he hopes will be a heroic cameo.
Cammy Jerome is on for Naismith as it's like for like.
Good morning, UWS. How have you been. I will be around till halftime of the 3 O'clockers.
The Teesiders take the lead in stoppage time at the Reebok. That could be a priceless goal
Cam Jerome seemed to shove Kabboul into the crowd. Nothing malicious about it though.
Morning, UWS - how are you, mate?
Jordan Rhodes with both goals for the Teesiders. What a surprise.
BUGGER !!! The Evil Blades go three up at Chesterfield in a local derby.
Jayne Mansfield turning up the screw, going three up vs Notts County in the Nottinghamshire Derby.
Mannone pushes over a long range effort from Redmond./
Middlesbrough win 1-2 at already relegated Bolton thanks to a late double from Jordan Rhodes.
Off the line again from Cattermole - he's been immense today.
Bassong goes down screaming for a pen. What a baby!
John O' Shea is on for Kirchoff as it's like for like.
Time to change his diaper?
Jerome with too heavy a touch off a great pass from Bassong.
Definitely! He was crying there.
Oh - Gary O'Neill had a chance there by shanked it ahead of a challenge.
Jayne Mansfield going hot and heavy as she goes four up vs Notts County in the Notts County Derby.
Norman Hunter and Jackie C never would have acted that way or would they have?
Oh - Defoe was away there but Wisdom put him off.
0-3 Sunderland! Wow!
Four minutes of stoppage time and GOAL!!!!
WHATMORE PUTS THE BLACK CATS THREE UP.
Seb Larsson put through Whatmore, who rounded Ruddy and scored with a great finish. Great combo from the subs.
Super sub Watmore danced through there and rounded Ruddy to slide home from an acute angle.
This is doing real damage to Norwich's goal diff.
"Are you watching, Newcastle?" the Sunderland fans are singing with glee.
It's over as the Black Cats thrash the Canaries 0-3.
That's it - full time whistle goes and it's a fantastic win for Sunderland. It's all in their hands now. If they can get a draw against Arsenal, they'll be ahead of Norwich.
Oh, bollocks - Wayne Rooney is shown warming up at OT. That's not good news for England.
The team news out of OT:
Man Utd: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Rojo, Fellaini, Schneiderlin, Mata, Rooney, Depay, Rashford. Subs: Martial, Young, Romero, McNair, Lingard, Darmian, Fosu-Mensah.
Aston Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Clark, Lescott, Cissokho, Richardson, Bacuna, Gana, Westwood, Ayew, Sinclair. Subs: Richards, Sanchez, Gil, Bunn, Lyden, Gestede, Grealish.
Referee: Anthony Taylor.
Hey Boys
I've moved my desktop into the living room so I can watch TV from a decent position, follow GSS and of course be on LOB
Martial to the bench for Roon... sigh
We are off
Villa not relegated yet!
Right then - Villa kick us off at Old Trafford. They need a win in order to survive.
Can United actually thump a side?
Haven't scored in the first half 22 times so far this season
Jayne Mansfield thrashed Notts County 5-0 in the Notts County Derby while the Evil Blades won 0-3 at Chesterfield in another derby match
Slow slow start from United.... why not go for the throat right away!!
SO PEDESTRIAN!!!!!
Hibs make the Scots Cup Final defeating the Tangerines 4-2 on spot kicks after the teams failed to scored in two hours of play.
Villa need to be put out of their misery.
Celtic or Rangers up next
I know it is 4 minutes in but United are not done anything!!!!
The Orient Express take the lead vs all but doomed Daggenham in a local derby. Oxford take the lead vs Luton in the only fixture that has been what??????
Why can't LVG change tactics ever?
Know who your opponents are and attack them!!!!!!!!!
Posh take the lead at Colchester in an all East Anglian fixture that I wouldn't call a derby match
Bacun a heads out a cross from Valencia for a United corner.
United take it short and win another
That is a sad stat, mate.
United with a corner... a short one!
I HATE IT
Another corner... not taken short?
The corner eludes everyone.
How does Roon go straight back into the first team?
No one attacked the ball!
Rooney looks so slow trying to beat a man
Free kick now
Free kick in and headed well over by Rojo.
Front post cross... headed over
Hate those crosses!
Rojo heads over a free kick from Memphis
Ridsdale's lads take the lead vs the Fake Dons in a very Evil fixture.
Memphis wins a corner off of Alan Hutton
Alan Hutton heads out a long cross from Blind for a United corner.
Bacuna heads away the corner.
Roon wins yet another corner.
Hair Bear heads well wide from the corner,
millions of corners.... not hit the target yet
More traditional corner this time but Hair Bear sticks his header over the top with pressure from Lescott.
Why are Villa playing in yellow? Would the White shirts and claret shorts conflict with United's first strip?
In fairness to Blind, he's stuck a couple of corners on Rojo and Hair Bear's heads and they've put their headers over the top.
Rooney has scored.... Wayne's brother for Chester vs Welling
Sissokho tackles Rashford for a corner. Rojo has a shot bl;ocked for another corner.
Cross by Blind... atrocious...where's the quality!!
POURING WITH RAIN
Snow in April in Manchester in April! The weather is more exciting than the match
Tadic nearly gives Saints the lead at sunny Goodison with a volley that was inches over.
21 min in... created nothing really from open play.... how is the United way?
Lescott clears for yet another corner.
Mata with a move... in the box.... goes out for throw in
The corner is taken short and Mata has a shot go out for a throw!
Now sunny in Manchester!
Brechin City two up vs Peter's Head. That must suck for the visitors .
It is so quiet at OT... does that tell you something LVG?
Is he going to survive again?
Hartlepool one up
Jeff's lot have been on such a good run... well safe
Port Vale two up at the Gils, whose promotion hopes are taking a serious dent. The Evil Lions take the lead at Coventry in a playoff six pointer.
TWENTY-TWO games without a first half goal!!
I HATE IT
Visiting York not so much,
I found a cure for insomnia.
First goal in the Prem
Watford take the lead at the Hawthorns
Watford aren't thinking about the Semi final then!
Horrible shot from Richardson - no wonder United got rid.
A free kick from Westwood is headed away and Kieran Richardson is high and wide with a long range effort on his return to OT.
Ben Watson with the goal in a basically meaningless fixture.
Chance for Mata to cross... OF COURSE HE DOESN"T GET IT OVER
Mata wins a corner off of Cissokho. Guzan catches the corner.
Weird how the Cup has worked out
Could be a repeat of two Cup Finals
Palace and Watford have made ONE Cup Final in their history and whoever makes the Final they could be playing the same team!
Watford could take on Everton like in 84
Palace could take on United like in '90
GOAL
RASHFORD SCORES AGAIN!!!
GOAL! Marcus Rashford with another great goal!
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!! RASHFORD GIVES UNITED THE LEAD.
Give credit to Roon - wonderful cross field ball to Valencia who then picked out Rashford
Cross by Valencia... not brilliant but found a man
Gus should have done better
Seven goals now for young Rashford.
