Players lining up in the tunnel at the King Power:
Leicester City (an unsophisticated, outmoded, top-of-the-league 4-4-2): Schmeichel; Simpson, Morgan (c), Huth, Fuchs; Mahrez, Kanté, Drinkwater, Albrighton; Okazaki, Vardy.
Subs: King, Amartey, Gray, Ulloa, Dyer, Wasilewski, Schwarzer.
Southampton: (a specifically commandeered 3-5-2): Forster; Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk; Davies, Clasie, Wanyama, Targett, Bertrand; Mane, Pelle.
Subs: Stekelenberg, Yoshida, Rodriguez, Tadic, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Austin.
Good morning mate. I'm blogging from my brother's house in Florida.
Leicester get us started in a crackling atmosphere at the King Power. Looks like the pitch has got a new haircut this week. Very fancy.
Morning, MUR - how are you in the Sunshine State?
Someone seems to have handed out some really noisy clappers to the fans at the King Power today. Horrible sound!
This one is a long ball match so far - lots of ping pongy head tennis.
The Foxes have dominated the early stages
Sorry to say I'm not here on holiday. According to my brothers, it's basically a matter of days for my mom. I will see later today.
Oh - Vardy got to the by-line and nearly got it back to his strike partner Okazaki.
I'm sorry to hear that, mate. My thoughts go out to you and your family at this sad time.
I honestly thought you might be on your trip with your math students. I hope the footer helps you take your mind off things.
I think it's a matter of time before the Foxes score
Thanks mate. I was with my math students, but left during the middle of the meet to drive to Houston Intercontinental Airport.
How have you been, mate?
Really good. I got two major projects done over our Spring Break, so last week was a doddle. This next week should be busier for me.
A free header from Prlle that's not far over as the Saints have come into the match
Congratulations. I'm delighted for you
After the furious ovation for the side at the beginning, the King Power has quieted down. It's been all a bit boring so far.
Oh - Mane was away there and rounded the keeper but Danny Simpson got back magnificently to block the shot.
Nearly the lead for the Saints as Mane was through on the break. He rounded Kasper, but Danny Simpson came out of the middle of nowhere to block
Southhampton have done an excellent job frustrating Leicester so far - they're almost playing the Foxes' game.
Oh - Fonte with a ripper that Kasper had to tip over.
Nice save by Kasper from a deflected long range effort from Fonte
Not a classy effort from Classie as he was high and wide off the corner
GOAL! Wes Morgan breaks the deadlock with his first goal of the season!!!
Fuchs picked his target and found Morgan in the box just ahead of Classie.
1-0 Leicester!
GOAL. Captain Morgan with a great header from a cross from Fuchs. His first goal of the season
Hard to blame the Saints defense. Captain Morgan was well marked, but it was a perfect cross
Some handbags to end the half. No real need for that.
The fairy tale continues as the Foxes are one up at the half
Agreed, mate. I'm not sure why.It was a fair tackle from Vardy
Tadic is on as a sub as the second kicks off and Wanayama is booked for fouling Vardy on the break
Tadic is a good sub for Soton at this point.
Interesting advertising hoarding on the side - "Sky Sports - The Home of Major League Soccer!"
Just finished brekkies. It's still 1-0 .Saints players are becoming frustrated.
I know Southampton have played 3-5-2 on other occasions this season, but they look liberated as they are now. They’ve not created much, but there’s a zest about their play that wasn’t present in the first half, even when they were on top.
We're going to the only MLS match being played today.
Forster saved Fonte some blushes there when the Italian could easily have scored an own goal.
The hour mark is up so cue Ulloa on for Okazaki.
The usual change as Leo Ulloa is on for Okozaki
That has to go down as one of the saved of the season
Ranieri is trying to calm himself and his flowers down.
James Ward-Prowse being thrown on by Koeman as a last ditch effort to save the match.
Oh - Danny Simpson should have scored the second there. Off the line by Forster.
Oh! One of the misses of the season as Vardy laid it on a plate for Danny Simpson and he forced a Banks like save from Forster, but it was a soft side footed effort.
Huth used his hand there but there were no protestations from the Soton players. Ball to hand.
Charlie Austin on for Classie and JWP on for Steven Davis
Tadic talks himself into the book there after a high foot.
Tadic is booked either for the foul or the childish tantrum
Mahrez tries one from distance but it's gobbled up by Forster.
Damante Gray on for Mahrez
Gray comes on for Mahrez, who walks off with laudable slowness.
Is Mahrez being rested at this point? Why?
Southampton have not mustered a serious chance this half. It only takes one, but I can see why Leicester would fancy themselves to see this out.
Oh - Vardy is denied by Forster, who's had a great match.
I won't be around for the late match because we're heading to the hospital
Coming down to the last few minutes and the Foxes faithful are bellowing up "I Will Follow Him" for the run in.
"We're Going to Win the League" ringing around the King Power Stadium now.
Soton have one last free kick chance. This could be a crucial moment.
And another.
There it is! The whistle blows and Wes Morgan, the goalscorer celebrates with his teammates. Every match is a cup tie for these guys and they've won another one. Six matches to play and they're seven points up. Done and dusted.
I won't be around for the late match because we're heading to the hospital
I've switched over to USA for the late one between Everton and United. Here's the team news:
Manchester United: De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Rojo; Schneiderlin, Carrick; Lingard, Mata, Martial; Rashford
Subs: Romero, Fosu-Mensah, Valencia, Young, Fellaini, Herrera, Memphis
Everton: Joel; Baines, Jagielka (c), Stones, Coleman; Cleverley, McCarthy; Lennon, Barkley, Deulofeu; Lukaku
Subs: Howard, Oviedo, Koné, Mirallas, Niasse, Besic, Funes Mori
I hope it's a peaceful time for you and your family. Please keep us apprised of everything.
Marvelous atmosphere at Old Trafford as the new Bobby Charlton Stand is unveiled. Wow!
United about to get us going - both sides wearing their traditional tops. Everton in blue shorts for the occasion.
Peter Drury and Jim Beglin on the microphone.
Chris Smalling gives David de Gea a testing backpass which the goalkeeper can only spoon off field for a throw. Baines launches the ball to Lukaku who gets his first touches, wriggling away from a couple of defenders before prodding it off the pitch a little unnecessarily with a misplaced pass.
James McCarthy is down. He seemed to twist his ankle in a challenge with Marcos Rojo. The Everton midfielder hobbles off for the treatment before a dainty hop-run back on to the field and should be OK to continue.
Everton win a free-kick 40 yards out on the right. Baines delivers the most delicious of parabolas into the box and Utd are a little edgy in clearing the danger. Deulofeu dribbles the ball back into the mix but after one touch too far Schneiderlin eventually hacks the ball downfield.
Schneiderlin gives away another free kick. They can't afford to keep giving up these chances to Everton.
Baines hits the wall and it deflects out for the corner.
Roberto Martínez is very animated on the touchline. His side are certainly putting on a better show than their last Premier League match, the limp defeat against Arsenal
De Gea plays sweeper and clears out the danger.
I'm goal starved this morning - one goal in two hours of play.
Lukaku is started to get involved in the game, first chasing a throughball which De Gea pipped him to and then trying to roll Chris Smalling with his back to goal in the box. The England defender sticks to his task and three red shirts crowd Lukaku out.
Big shout for a pen but the ref had no inclination. Good tackle from Stones on Lingard.
This one has been so riveting that I've been doing pasta quizzes on FB.
Martial has been the most dangerous player on the pitch and he’s at it again, though this time he’s adjudged to have handled Mata’s flick in the box after a bright one-two with the Spaniard.
Even Peter Drury has described this first half as "shades of grey."
Half-time arrives without much fanfare. zzzzzzzzzz
Hey Bob, I just got back from baseball draft nice and early and am here for the second half.
United boring again?
teams coming out of the tunnel for the second half
A win is a must
ATTACK!!
Bringing on a defender!
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Scary that there is talk of LVG staying for next season!
Big chance for the Lukaku… deflected wide
United not attacking the Stretford End in the second half
Did Everton do that on purpose or is some deep thinking by LVG
GOAL
MARTIAL
The sub got the assist for the goal!
Martial almost missed that. Keeper could have kept that out
Looking shaky at the back for United since the goal
Keep it tight but attack
Jags with a bullet of a header off the bar… wide open five yards out…. where are the defenders!!!!
Herrerra about to come on
Carrick is the one replaced
Afternoon, mate - I hope that you did well at the baseball draft.
I'm just back from the shower to see that you're 1-0 up through Kung Fu Fighting. Nice one - you need a win here as WH slipped up yesterday. You're on the edge of the top four places now.
Dangerous cross low just out of the reach at the front post but no one at the back post
That should have been two nil
Oh - Lingard was inches away from reaching that Mata cross. Didn't get there and then Smalling picked up a yellow for a lunge on Stones.
Hiya Bob
Could be close
We do got to WHL next weekend
Draft day was very short. Didn't think I'd make any of this match
United have been boring today - Everton, too.
England in the World Cup Final for cricket 20/20 against the Windies
United are boring all the time!
Did they show the Sir Bobby ceremony before the match?
Just to let you know, MUR is in Florida today at his mom's bedside. It doesn't look as if she'll probably survive the weekend. I'm going to shoot a card out to him this week.
I got his text yesterday and read the earlier posts
United had a chance there for a cross but their crossing SUCKS
United's 1000 home Prem goal… first to do that
Everton only loss away was at the Em… their home form must be REALLY bad
I'm not surprised given the Fergie domination. Did you see the unveiling of the new Bobby Charlton Stand at the beginning of the match? You may want to run the DVR back for that; it was a special moment.
Useless by Barkley… there is talk of United buying him
I don't rate him at all
I wasn't here
Didn't dvr it…. United are too boring
I want a second goal
another chance to get a cross over… USELESS!!!!
I'm sure that there will be some clips. The great man was there, of course, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Wish I saw it
It is the old stand, right? The small one with the
It looked like the big one that the camera is perched on that we can't see from the normal camera angle.
United don't look that fussed about scoring a second.
Found a six minute video on Sky Sports
I'll watch it at the end of the match
The big one is the SAF Stand
Ten minutes plus stoppages for United to hold on… I am fed up with United always HOLDING ON
Valencia going to come on for an injured Blind
So, Dennis Erwin scored the first Premiership goal and Martial has scored the 1,000th. Interesting.
The one we're looking at? Okay. Then there's the Stratford End to the left and what's the one on the right that United are attacking now?
Oh - great save from Twilight there to keep Everton at bay. Wow!
for United at Old Trafford that is
Who scored the first ever Prem goal
For who against who
Great save by De Gea… again
No the stand across from the TV is the SAF stand
The stand the camera is on is the SBC stand
United get a chance to break 5 on 2… the 2 won
Struth… the crossing is woeful
Everton look really dangerous
Great clearance by FM the sub
He's been the difference. The assist and that clearance
Barkley came off
I don't rate him
Wow, only 2 minutes to go!
What about Leicester just chugging along!!
4 added minutes
These added minutes are so much these days
Too much
Untied need another goal to put them ahead of West Ham
They are level now on goals. United have more points now but it is still important
Leicester are an incredible story - probably the biggest achievement of the Premiership era. Even Blackburn had Jack Walker's money.
United not trying to score
And you're only a point behind Citeh now.
Better than Forest?
If we didn't blow it at home to Sotton, Norwich, Newcastle or drop the points at Newcastle, west brom and others
2 to go
Last chance saloon for Everton now. United hanging on.
Under a minute to go
Forest won the Premiership? I don't remember that.
So bad from United… useless back passes!!
Sigh
Game over
Not bloody good enough really!
That's that - not exactly the sparkling win that Bobby Charlton deserved on this big day but it's three more point. NBC say that United are now in 5th.
Plonker
Forest in 78
Is it bigger than them being promoted and winning it
Yup, fifth above West Ham and a point behind City
Spot on, mate. The Bobby Charlton Stand is smaller. All of them are pretty big, though. What a temple!
Will these teams meet at Wembley?
That's it for me today, mate. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Cheerio!
World Cup Final coming down to the end
Two and half overs to go, Windies need 32 to win in the Slugfest Cricket

23 from 11
20 needed from 8 balls
Its going to be very close!
19 from 7
19 from the last over
Six from the first ball
13 from five
Windies the favorites?
Holy crap… another 6
Seven from four… definite favorites now
