Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The teams emerging into the sunshine at Old Trafford:
Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Blind, Ander Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Rashford, Ibrahimovic.
Subs: Depay, Rooney, Martial, Carrick, Romero, Fellaini, Darmian.
Stoke: Grant, Johnson, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Cameron, Whelan, Allen, Shaqiri, Bony, Arnautovic.
Subs: Bardsley, Adam, Diouf, Walters, Given, Crouch, Krkic.
Referee: Robert Madley (West Yorkshire)
On current form, José Mourinho couldn’t have wished for a better game to get the Manchester United faithful singing the good song again. Stoke City, bottom of the league, have conceded just under three goals a game this season, and have two points from six games thus far.
And we're away at OT.
Oh - Zlatan was in on Grant one-on-one but the Stoke keeper well to save twice.
A shout for handball but it was ball to hand in the view of referee Madley.
Nice ball in from Arnautovic but Bailly cleared well.
Oh - Joe Allen got in behind the United defense and Cameron tried to side foot home. Too easy for Twilight.
Oh - Pogba should have scored there - missed the target. Lots of early chances here.
ellow card for Valencia, who catches Pieters, a good half-an-hour after the Stoke full-back had played the ball.
Remarkably it's still 0-0 half way through this half. We could have had one or two at either end.
Arnautovic had a chance there but bent his shot well wide.
Oh - Zlatan with some sublime skill out left and Grant pulled another fabulous save to keep out Lindy.
Bony mis-controls the ball for the third time. He’s not at the races, not the first time this season.
Winding down the first half here. Both teams will go in wondering how they didn't score in that first half.
0-0.
Good morning, Bob. I can't believe we're being held 0-0 by these mugs. Zorhya says that she would.
Hey Boys
Sorry I have been a miss but I will comment a bit on my phone for the second half
United creating chance...that is making me feel good. Not scoring...not so good
The Spuds vs Citeh and the Foxes vs the Saints are the two 915 matches
Good morning, uWS. I missed the first half, but DVRed it. Sounds like the EL match on Thursday
The second half is underway
COME ON MAN UNITED!
tHE bONE IS FOULED BY hERRERA, WHO ACTS LIKE A REAL BONER,
De Gea superbly tips over a header by Bruno Martins-Indi off the free kick from Shaquiri, but was flagged offside.
Useless by Pog Pants that ruined a good move.Off a throw Pogba has a shot come off of Geoff Cameron for a corner
United really needs to score soon
Ryan Shawcross , the former United Academy player, heads out a corner from Mata, then fellow Spaniard , Hereera is well wide from downtown
Morning boys, I'm back after a half-time kip. What did I miss?
Why did United attack the Stretford End in the first half?
Jose better not be messing with that
I agree. It's looking the EL match all over again. We could really use Roon off the bench, even if it's a miss hit cross. Anything...
Good morning, Bob. You really didn't miss anything
Zlatan with a foul from behind on Shawcross.
Must have lost the toss, right?
Lee Grant rushes out of his box to clear to thwart a United box then Herrera is booked for a late challenge on Wee Joe.
Herrera into the book there for a clash with Joe Allen.
Yikes
On replay that was nasty by Herrera
That's what I was thinking, mate.
Oh - another big chance for Stoke. Great move ends with a tame effort from Allen. Meat and drink for Twilight.
Struth
Allen should have scored
Two big chances missed by Stoke today
YOKES!!!! Shaquiri and Arnautovic combine to set up Wee Joe . He turns a defender and then shoots tamely at De Gea when he should have scored. United let off the hook
Wazza getting loose now.
Zlatan booked for a foul on Shawcross.
Not as good from United this half
Get your fingers out
Should be about 2-2 now.
That's a great idea. We are so desperate that even a miss hit cross from him would do.
Jose beginning to look agitated. Surely we'll see Kung Fu Panda before long.
Is Martial on the bench?
I'd prefer him than Roon
The last time Stoke did NOT lose at OT was a draw in 1980. It was Desmond.
Jose brought both on on the EL match. The same today
United should have three at least
zlat, Pogs and Lindy all denied by worldies
Yeah - here's your bench: Depay, Rooney, Martial, Carrick, Romero, Fellaini, Darmian.
Roon's effort to set up Zlats goal on thurs was laughable
The miss hit cross actually happened ??? It was just a random comment
All straight at Lee Grant, who at age 34 is making his first appearance at OT
United blowing this
Congrats for your mob yesterday
Just kidding . I did see it and it was laughable.
United concede a free kick, fouling Geoff Cameron.
Last time United didn't score at OT vs Soke....Peter Shilton was in goal!!!
Shaquiri wins a corner after a free kick from Arnautovic was headed out by Zlatan
Glad to see Martial coming on
Lindy and who will come off
It was a long time ago. I think the announcer said 1968. Stepney must have been in the United goal , getting ready for the European Cup Final. Wasn't Banks in the Stoke goal at that time?
Not impressed with Pogpants
Herrera goes close with that effort.
I wouldn't take off Mata, Zlat and Rash
A better effort from Herrera as that was not too far off.
Mata is coming off with Lindy
So Roon for Mata and Kung Fu for Lindy.
Come on Martial
Lay a marker down
Roon for Mata and Lingard karate chopped off the pitch. the same two that came on as subs on Thursday
I wouldnt have taken off Mata
When I looked at the guide last night , it said that Stoke has lost on every visit to OT since 1980 when it was Desmond that visit.
Oh - now it's Zlatan within an inch of scoring.
Decent strike by Ibra
No one was moving for him
Zlatan with an effort not too far wide.
I would have brought on UWS. We need a good finisher.
Yes!!!!!!
Martial!!!!!!
GOAL! Kung Fu! That will do nicely.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
THE TWO SUBS COMBINE AS ROON WITH A MISS HIT PASS THAT GETS KARATE CHOPPED INTO THE UPPER 90.
A feeling of deja vu.
Don't give Roon any credit
He missed controlled it
How did he become so bad
He can't do anything
A bit fortunate, really. Rooney dithered on the ball and the tackle was actually the perfect pass to Martial who doesn't miss from that range.
Shilts can rest easy.
Now United are at their rampant best.
OH!!!!Bruno Martins-Indi clears off the line from compatriot, Danny Blind. Stoke fail to clear the corner and Bailey misses his shot
Shilton's record is safe
I think it must have been mid 70s just before his Forest days
Another United corner.
Boat load of chances right after each other
SCORE
Grant
Stop saving everything
The corner taken short and what a save by Lee Grant from Zlatan
I want another one
Stoke's last clean sheet at OT was by Banks, not Shilts. He said it was in 1968, which was about five years before Shilts joined. Shilts was a Fox at that time.
How is this for a headline: Roon off the bench for an accidental assist in 1-0 United win for the second time in four days. Agreed, gents?
Nice job with the anoraking, MUR. Rebecca Lowe got it wrong, then.
Back to the goal: Bailey won a tackle in midfield and found a karate expert , who went on a sol run and found Roon, who unexpectedly played a one two that was karate chopped in the upper 90
The East Stand has seen FIVE Unuted goals to the Stretford End's none
Walters on for Arnautovic and Crouchie on for Boni
Nice stat, UWS.
Commentator said Shilts
Crouchy on for the testy Arnautovic. We he have his nachos today?
Cheers, Bob. Either Rebecca or this announcer got it wrong. He said 1968. I guess we need to check the date.
United possessing to possess right now
Score a second
Credit UWS with the anoraking job, but I should get credit for mentioning that Stoke last went undefeated when they held United to Desmond in 1980. That's quite a losing streak.
That's the Jose way.
Talking about Shilts, two of his former clubs face off as it will be the Foxes vs the Saints on CNBC at 915.
United lost to Stoke 1-0 at OT in April 1976
A poor free kick from Roon is wazzed to Lee grant.
What was that? I can't believe it!
Bloody hell
BLOODY HELL !!!UNITED GIFT STOKE AN EQUALIZER.
Get the ball out
Why can't goalkeepers hang on to the ball these days? That was a routine stop for Twilight. Ridiculous.
D3.14 on for Her
De Gea spilled a shot from Glen Johnson then a close range rebound came off the post then Wee Joe smashed in the equalizer from a yard out
Cue 3.14 for Herrera.
Pogba wins a corner off of Pieters
I hope it's not 2 PI R. Anybody know why we wouldn't want that?
Nope - I'm math phobic.
Great save by Lee Grant from Zlatan after Pogba tackled wee Joe.
Still happy that United have created a lot of chances
A win here is vital tho
Useless control by Smalling
Under 5
If it's 2 PI R then he's going around in circles when he needs to score. How is that for circular logic?
Nice one, mate!
Pogs off the bar
Oh - Pogs denied by the bar!
OH!!! Pogba has a header come off the bar from a cross from Rash
Should have scored
Cheers, Bob.
BArdsley on for Shaq. Another former United academy player
Get it in the box
Another United corner.
4 added min
United arguing
Taking up their own time
What an atrocious corner from wazza
Four minutes of stoppage time as Pogba tackles Wee Joe in the box . The corner is cleared then Shawcross heads out for another
Pogba called for climbing on the next corner.
Stoke minutes away from their first draw at OT in 36 years
Last chance saloon
Useless free kick by Roon
Why does he take everything
United not bothered to get the ball in the box
Goal kick
Useless by Rash and United less than a minute away from a horrible result.
United have not peppered the goal since the equalizer
All over
Dropped points for sure
It's over and United are held by Stoke 1-1. Next is Liverpool a fortnight from tomorrow.
I can't believe it - you lot were coasting it before that Twilight mistake. Time for a new keeper?
I'm off for walkies in the rain
"Best performance of the season," according to Jose. Your thoughts, gents?
Now it's on to Shite Fart Lane, where these sides are coming out of the tunnel:
Tottenham Hotspur (4-2-3-Son!): Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Wanyama, Alli; Sissoko, Eriksen, Lamela; Son.
Subs: Vorm, Janssen, Nkoudou, Dier, Trippier, Winks, Davies.
Manchester City (what kind of animal doesn’t play 4-3-3): Bravo, Zabaleta, Otamendi, Stones, Kolarov; Fernando, Fernandinho, Silva; Navas, Aguero, Sterling.
Subs: Caballero, Sagna, Gundogan, Sane, Clichy, Iheanacho, Garcia.
Ref: Andre Marriner.
Back from walkies with Sparky on a pleasant morning, where I was wearing my D Pi Shirt. Our Sparky, not Stoke's. Sparky going bonkers because some dog that looks a lot like Shadow followed us home./
Jose is full of it. Actually one of our worst.
It's the Spuds vs Citeh on NBCSN and the Foxes vs the Saints on CNBC, Which is still showing Formula One Racing
THey're off from FL where I need a Spuds victory to help me in the PPP.
The Spuds attack from the off and just wide by Song from a narrow angle.
The other match that was supposed to air on CNBC hasn't been shown yet.A FOX moment from NBC
Nvas with a pass that Silva just fails to divert in, but it results in a corner.
Song tackled by Stones for a corner after getting past Zaba. Song takes and Della Alli diverts it to Bravo, another NBC channel not showing footie.
Shame on CNBC for that.
GOAL! Oh - that is a cracking own goal from Kolarov. And Spurs are ahead!
GOAL !!!!~A CROSS FROM DANNY ROSE FROM THE LUFC ACADEMY IS DIVERTED IN FOR A COMICAL OG AT THE FAR POST BY KOLOROV. IT STARTED WITH A TACKLE WON IN MIDFIELD BY WANYAMA.
And Number One now has a shot from an acute angle. Beaten away.
nOW sONG WINS A CORNER OFF OF bRAVO AT THE NEAR POST.
The Spuds score hot off the press as Kolorov scores with a finish that would have pleased UWS
Kolorov is definitely off color . I know his keeper did not say Bravo.
If I'm not mistaken, Citeh lost their undefeated record here last season. Will history repeat itself.
Hand ball by Otamendi
The free kick from Eriksen is headed away then A volley from Danny Rose loops up into the air then into Bravo, who is pushed over the line by Toby and a foul is called.
City have barely had a kick thus far.
It could well do.
Hot off the press: Citeh hard pressed to play their style of football.
Twinkle Toes Alli does a merry dance then is fouled by Otamendi in the D, who is booked for that
Otamendi upends Alli to set up an excellent free kick.
OH!!!! the free kick from Eriksen is curled inches wide.
I came up with a new Pep song:
One Fernandinho, One Fernandinho , One Fernadinho there's only one Fernandinho, but I was it was really three so I could bore the bloody hell out of everybody.
LOL! Nice one!
City can’t get out at the moment - Spurs are pressing them with such fury and ferocity, that their only option is to go backwards.
First decent chance for Citeh falls to Sterling but he was falling over as he shot.
Cheers , mate. Agreed about the Spuds. They're making Citeh feel like a bunch of latkes.
Aguero with his first shot of the match and he drags it wide from a difficult angle.
Oh - I could murder a plate full of latkes with some apple sauce this morning.
The offside flag is raised as Lamela looked level.
Wnyama fouls Aguero just outside the box.
Lloris does well to push away the free kick
LOL, mate. Sounds like a tasty meal.
Number One Son making Citeh feel like number two.
Otamendi is now riding a thin line.
Otamendi with a nasty foul and fortunate not to get a second yellow. Pep may want to sub him at the half./
Kolorov heads away the free kick from Eriksen.
Almost a tightrope for Otamendi. He's had a first half to forget
bravo with the most passes by a Citeh player. That's really awful from a Citeh point of view.
GOAL !!!1 DELLA ALLI PUTS CITEH TWO UP
GOAL! Quality goal from Delli Alli. Why can't he do that for England?
Citeh right up against it now.
it all began with the press. The ball broke to Della Alli, who found Number One Son and sandwiched in between , his slide rule pass went off two Citeh defenders and broke to Alli , who scored with a sucker punch past Bravo.,
Danny Rose picks up an unnecessary yellow.
Number One Son offside from a long diagonal pass by Danny Rose.
Half-time: Well, who saw that coming? What a performance from the Spuds. Gooner won't be pleased. I'm not either. This is doing some damage to my PPP standing.
Toby heads away a cross from Navas on the line after LLoris rushed out to make a timely slide tackle
Agreed. Citeh were hard pressed to play their brand of footie. So, who would go top of the PPP if Citeh lose their lead?
The second half is underway from SFL
Number One Son curls an effort just wide.
OH!!!! Wanyama goes on a solo run and Bravo turns his long range effort around the post. The corner is headed away
Nasty by Silva on Danny Rose, but just a lecture from Andre MArriner.
OH!!! Off the post by Aguero where LLoris should have had it covered. Nice pass from Pep's boy as the corner is cleared
DAnny Rose fouls Sterling midway between the box and the corner flag.
