Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Average, Indeed, MUR - thanks for posting our thread this morning .I debated sleeping through these two, but I'm up and watching. Nice to join you.
The team news out of the Riverside:
Middlesbrough: Valdes; Barragan, Chambers, Gibson, Friend; De Roon, Forshaw; Stuani, Ramirez, Downing; Negredo. Subs: Guzan, Ayala, Bernardo, Clayton, Fischer, Rhodes, Traore
Watford: Gomes; Kaboul, Prodl, Britos; Amrabat, Capoue, Behrami, Holebas; Pereyra, Success; Deeney. Subs: Pantilimon, Mariappa, Kabasele, Zuniga, Watson, Guedioura, Ighalo.
Referee: Roger East.
They're off from the Riverside.
And we're away at the Riverside in this relegation dogfight. Boro in their traditional red and Watford in all white.
Good morning, Bob. I'm glad to post.I was debating the same thing
The visitors will be hoping that Middlesbrough’s defenders still haven’t recovered from Dimitri Payet pulling their pants over their heads two weeks ago.
Great tackle by Ben Gibson to prevent Troy Deeney getting a close range effort on target
Both teams have to win these types of matches to enhance their survival chances.
Downing shoots over off a cross from George Friend
Agreed. He really scored a cracker in that match
Fred is here to join us for the action. I think he's getting ready to take a nap on top of my bills.
Negredo tackles Kaboul and Gaston Ramirez shoots wide. A bright start fron the Teesiders.
Can you imagine Troy Deeney in the England set up at some point? He does score a lot of goals.
Actually, no. He's overweight and scores a fair number from the spot. I think he would be off the pace unless we're talking eating contests or pints.
LOL! Fair enough, mate.
Perreira is fouled by George Friend, who wasn't much of one on that play
Watford have a free kick now...
And it's charged down by Ramirez.
Holebas has the free kick blocked by Gaston Ramirez , who surely wasn't ten yards away
Kaboul fouls Gaston Ramirez about 25 yards from goal.
A training ground is an absolute disaster as Downing plays it short to Gaston, who cheaply concedes possession, wasting that opportunity
Do you think either of these teams will win promotion this season? Will either win on their visit to ER?
Barragan wins a Boro corner
Gaston Ramirez with a decent corner, but nobody was there to connect and another wasted opportunity
I suppose the commentators are right that it's these matches that really mean something to these teams. Yet, it's uninspiring stuff so far. No chances at either end in the opening quarter of an hour. A lot of industry for little output.
They're both competitive sides, sure. It just shows the gulf of quality between the Championship and Premiership.
A bit of a surprise as Not a Big Club lead 0-1 at the Terriers in second half stoppage time.
That's a shame.
Surely this can't be any worse than those two crap teams playing tomorrow, LOL.
Negredo goes down , looking for a pen off a challenge from Kaboul. And the Oscar for the worst impersonation goes to ...
Negredo flopped in the area looking for the penalty. Nothing doing from referee East.
Downing with the first shot in anger. Just wide.
It's a final. Not a Big Club have won 0-1 at the Terriers. The Terriers move down to third place while two of my picks for promotion are in the top two spots, but in the reverse order that I predicted.
The closest either team has come to scoring. Has either keeper had to make a save
Negredo heads out a free kick from Holebas for a Hornets corner.
The outswinger from Holebas is headed away then Troy Deeney goes for the spectacular and volleys well wide from an offside position.
Peter Drury mentions that Troy Deeney has scored against the Teesiders and Leeds more than any other club. I'm sure you will be telling Peter Drury to shut it.
Ben Gibson with a long range effort well wide of the target
Barragan fouls Success , who is a success in winning the free kick. Scoring is a completely different matter
Barragan should have been booked for grabbing Successes jersey
Britos wins a corner off of Downing off the free kick
Behrami commits a foul to end the Hornets threat after the out swinger from Holebas was headed away
Capoue seems to be running through treacle to get onto that ball.
Barragan was lucky not to get a second yellow there. What was East thinking there?
You suspect that Watford are going to give the ball to Success and get him to run at Barragan at every opportunity now.
Stuani goes down clutching his face after a tussle with Holebas. He’s made rather a lot of that. it's kicking off a bit now.
I'm not sure, but Aidar Karranka would do well to substitute him at the half.
It was a foul, but that was probably why he wasn't awarded the free kick.
Perreira is fouled by Stuani. The free kick comes off of George Friend for a Hornets corner.
A complete and utter waster as a foul is called off the corner.
I guess there is some mediocrity in the Premier League.
Poor from Barragan there - Boro would have been better if he'd been sent off.
A minute of stoppage time as Gaston Ramirez is fouled by Success. The free kick is headed away
It's 0-0 at the half in terms of goals scored and shots on target. The second half can't be any worse.
Definitely mediocre - that was my worry when I saw the fixture. 0-0 at the half.
I've just woken up from a quick nap on the magical couch and am ready for more dross in the second now.
The second half is underway and like Fred's litter box, was full of crap.
Barragan, the greatest liability on the pitch , was not replaced.
De Roon, like our Roon, is useless in the final third.
Boro hit the ground running in the second half. Negredo was nearly in there but Amarabat was able to recover.
Success is down after a flying boot from Stuani.
Adam Forshaw with a tame effort straight to Gomes Addams. The first shot no target this match
GOAL !!!! HOLEBAS STINGS THE HOME SIDE WITH A ROCKET THAT GIVES THE HORNETS THE LEAD.
GOAL! Watford take the lead at the Riverside. The only moment of quality in this match. Holes with a scorcher!
0-1!
Success was unsuccessful in winning a penalty after running past the weak Barragan and into Adam Forshaw, trying to win a penalty. The ball broke to Cholevas, who shot a screamer into the upper 90 past the diving Victor Valdes.
I think that was their first shot on target this match
Now what will Boro do in response?
I'm almost sure that you're right, mate. The only other shot I can remember was Stuart Downing's effort in the first half.
Boro have yet to win at home this season. It seems like a long season ahead for the Teesiders.
GAston Ramirez gets in on the act of cheaply trying to win a penalty and it leads to an unsuccessful Hornets counter.
Ben Gibson heads away a free kick from Capoue.
Amrabat fouls George Friend and is the first Hornet to be booked this match
The free kick is taken and Ben Gibson fouls Gomes Addams.
True - this result would send Boro down to 17th, just above Stoke on GD.
Holebas is down and pissed off about that elbow in his face.
First change for Boro - Stuani off and Traore on. Barragan also off and Ayala on.
Traore is on for Stuani and Ayala on for Barragan, who an absolute mare
Ben Gibson concedes an unnecessary corner.
All Watford pressure now. Cor!
It leads to a spell of sustained Hornets pressure, but is eventually cleared.
Carlos Zuniga is on for the already booked Amrabat
Meanwhile this result would send Watford up into the top half in the lofty position of 9th. They're not really good enough for that.
De Roon talked himself into the book. Sounds like United's Roon.
Agreed. We should see the true Watford during the winter months.
Boro have a corner now - this is crucial. But Gomez claims it.
Ben Watson on for Success. Watson was one in the 2013 FA Cup Final.
Ben Watson replaces Isaac Success.
BLOODY HELL!!! Half a dozen minutes of stoppage time. When will it end???
I have no idea where that came from.
Ayala with a cross halfway to Sunderland. There won't be many chances remaining in stoppage time.
Was it from SAF's magical watch?
You'd have to say that Jordan Rhodes, who scored so many goals for Boro in the Championship, has been a flop.
Roger East puts us out of our misery as the Hornets win 0-1 thanks to a professional rather than spectacular performance. Well, that's two hours we won't get back.
That's it - the one moment of brilliance from Holebas has won this one.
Not sure what Holebas and Capoue are going on about now.
Agreed. I would say so. Hopefully, the next match will be better as the Saints should have enough quality to insure that.
Holebas is still losing his mind about something. Calm down, mate - you've won the match already.
That's enough of this dross for one morning. I'm going to try to post on the United match tomorrow.
The Saints vs Burnley is underway from St. Mary's
Cheers Bob. It was a pleasure chatting with you. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
