The FA Cup 3rd Round Weekend Starts Here!
Love it or hate it, the 3rd Round of the FA Cup is no longer a 3pm Saturday affair - it now stretches over the weekend. We start with an all-Premiership marquee match-up this evening - West Ham v. Citeh from the London Stadium. I'm ensconced in the office this afternoon watching on Fox Soccer 2 Go. Join me if you're around.

This is arguably the tie of the round: West Ham have won the cup three times, but not since 1980; City won in 2011, but have only five FA Cup triumphs to their name, seven behind Man United and Arsenal’s record of 12.
The teams gathering in the tunnel at the London Stadium now:
West Ham: Adrian, Nordtveit, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Fernandes, Obiang, Feghouli, Lanzini, Antonio, Carroll. Subs: Randolph, Noble, Fletcher, Payet, Calleri, Oxford, Quina.
Man City: Caballero, Sagna, Stones, Otamendi, Clichy, Toure, Zabaleta, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Aguero. Subs: Nolito, Kolarov, Jesus Navas, Delph, Iheanacho, Garcia, Bravo.
Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland)
Two strong-looking line-ups. Slaven Bilic makes three changes from the side that lost to Man United: out go Randolph, Kouyate and Payet, and in come Adrian, Fernandes and Andy Carroll. (The latter’s inclusion means we can reasonably expect the mixer to feature heavily this evening.) Guardiola makes five changes from the side that started the match against Burnley: Caballero, Stones, Zabaleta, Silva and Agüero are all included, and there’s a place on the bench for Fabian Delph.
Good afternoon, Bob. I will be around for the first half.
It's absurd to hear how the London Stadium nabobs feel they have to goose the atmosphere by playing a canned version of "Bubbles" for kickoff.
Here we go then!
Afternoon, mate! Great to have you on board at the beginning of this magic FA Cup weekend.
Feghouli, who was sent off on Monday, shoots high and wide. The red card was rescinded, so he is elligible to play today
Thanks, Bob. I will be around for the first half today and all weekend for the magic of Round 3
I agree that this is the of the Round followed by the Toffees vs the Foxes , which isn't being televised.
That Andy Carroll v. Otamendi battle will be a key one this afternoon.
I believe that Feghouli's red card was rescinded by the FA. It was harsh.
I agree. Otamendi seems to be on top early doors
A Sterling tackle by NordVeidt results in a Citeh corner that was headed more than a Stone's throw over the goal,
Early corner for Citeh - Stones didn't quite get the contact right.
Even though I was pleased with the result Monday I agree that the red card was harsh
Silva was set free down the right and Zaba went on an attacking run as his shot was well blocked.,
Zaba has a big chance but his shot is smothered by Winston Reid's crotch.
Well done by Winnie Reid as he put his body on the line for the cause.
City have started well. Their passing is crisp, and they’re on top.
You will be interested in the Friday night match next week.
Agreed. They are controlling the midfield and as a result , controlling the match
OH!!! Adrian does well to save a powerful close range effort from fellow Spaniard, Dave Silva
Willy Caballero does well to save a deflected effort from Antonio on a rare Hammers attack
Caballero beats one away from Antonio! Good turn on the edge of the box from the West Ham player, and he shot quickly, but it was central, and Caballero made a routine save.
The Hammers seem to be growing into this match.
Not exactly a Sterling challenge on Nordveidt. Poor free kick by Feghouli is off of Clichy for a Hammers corner that is cleared.,
I will be - that's a playoff dogfight against the Rams for sure.
Agreed. Each team has ha d a decent chance to score.
Well done, mate. I'm sure it's BEIN shown on the telly.
I hope so!
Oh - Silva and Sterling combined really well there but Reid did really well to get back and tackle Sterling.
A Sterling tackle by Reid to prevent a Citeh goal on the break. Citeh have a corner. Adrian does well to tip over a shot from Aguero from the corner.
Oh - and from the resulting corner, Aguero nearly found the top corner with a tasty volley!
The rain has picked up during the course of the match.
UWS will not be pleased that Donny Trump defeated Pompey yesterday in a promotion six pointer.
Penalty to Citeh!!!!
Great ball through by Silva and Ogbonna caught Zaba.
PENALTY CITEH AS OGBONNA IS CALLED FOR A TRIP ON ZABA OFF A PASS FROM SILVA.. THAT SEEMED A TAD HARSH
Yaya steps up....
and scores!!!! 0-1 Citeh!
GOAL YAYA BLASTS IT IN THE CORNER, FOOLING ADRIAN WITH HIS STUTTER STEP MOVE
That is the first goal of the Third Round.
Great save by Caballero from Antonio, then Feghouli shot the rebound wide when he should have tied it up for the Hammers
Some real implications in this one for our PPP game:
Gooner has picked West Ham to lift the Cup and you and Swansong had them to lose the final.
Red Devil, our current leader, has Citeh winning the Cup and Red Dragon, who is second, and his bruvver The Saint have them losing the final.
De Bruyne with a long range effort straight to Adrian
Ginger Winger warms the hands of Adrian with that blast from distance.
WOW !! And this early on in the competition in the most competitive PPP title race.
It will take a lot to warm his hands on a damp, cold, bone chilling evening.
Extremely competitive, yes. Only one competitor - Red Devil - has picked the presumptive title winner, Chelsea. But his other picks aren't strong enough for him to pull away.
Cresswell has a cross deflected for a corner.
The corner from Feghouli is headed straight up into the air by Stones and caught by Caballero
GOAL! Sterling adds the second for Citeh and WH are really in a hole now.
GOAL !!! CITEH GO TWO UP WITH A CLOSE RANGE VOLLEY ON A STERLING BREAK OFF THE HAMMERS CORNER. GREAT CROSS BY SAGNA. IT MAY BE AN OG BY NORDVEIDT, WHICH IT IS
On second look, it looks like an own goal for Nordveit. Great ball in from Sagna after he had made a gut-busting run down the right.
0-2 Citeh!
Count me out for getting any points for the losing finalist
GOAL! Silva adds a third and Citeh are running away with this one!!!!
Great team goal with Aguero, Sterling and Silva all involved. Easy finish in the end for the Spaniard.
0-3!
This one appears to be over as a competitive match. Shame, as Feghouli should have made WH level with that sitter of a miss. Now it's all over.
My link buggered as Silva put Citeh three up with that easy tap in. This one seems to be done and dusted.,
Two minutes of stoppage time as this one is all but over. I need to leave as my last class is about to start. I look forward to chatting in the morning.
CHEERS!
The half-time whistle comes and WH trudge off 0-3 down and without much of a hope. Expect Pep to bolt the door in the second half and rotate some starters out.
I'll catch you in the morning - have a great evening, MUR!
We're back on at the London Stadium for the second half now.
I fully expected Citeh to take the foot off the gas, but they've come out blasting.
GOAL! Aguero adds a fourth goal now, tipping home a blast from Yaya Toure.
Well, that seems about that. I'm going to pack up and trudge home in the snow.
I'll look forward to chatting with you lot tomorrow morning. Cheerio!
