Bachelor Weekend in the Premiership
So, Katie is off visiting her family in Virginia this weekend. You know the phrase, "when the cat's away...." The Bobby bachelor agenda starts with a full slate of Premiership weekend. First up is Spurs' trip to Huddersfield. Since they're still suffering from the Wembley hoodoo, they might actually enjoy an away day in Yorkshire. Then in the 10am EST kickoff timeslot. we've got United hosting bottom of the league Palace looking to rack up double figures. Then we've got the big one - Chelsea v. Citeh. It's always a big one but this weekend, it's first v. third. I can't wait. Join me this morning, won't you?
501 Comments:
A very good Saturday morning to all of you. We're moments away from the kick off of Hudders v. Spurs. The Terrier are without a win in five matches, so you'd have to fancy Spurs in this one. Harry Kane had a hat-trick night in the champions league in Cyrus in mid-week. Can he do it again today?
Good Morning Bob
How are you doing?
The teams now gathering in the tunnel at Hudders:
Huddersfield Town: Lossl, Smith, Jorgensen, Schindler, Lowe, Mooy, Hogg, Kachunga, van La Parra, Ince, Depoitre.
Subs: Malone, Whitehead, Billing, Sabiri, Cranie, Green, Hadergjonaj.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Trippier, Winks, Dier, Davies, Eriksen, Alli, Kane.
Subs: Son, Vorm, Nkoudou, Sissoko, Llorente, Foyth, Walker-Peters.
Referee: Neil Swarbrick (Lancashire).
Teams coming out of the tunnel
Morning, UWS - thanks for joining me. I'm doing okay. It was a tough start to the week but I just buried my head in the work and got through it day by day. Katie was a real jewel as well.
You've been in my thoughts all week
They're off from the John Smith's Stadium
And we're away in Yorkshire.
Good morning, Bob and Dave. Great to join you How have you been?
Kane has a shot blocked for a corner off a pass from Vertonghen.
Kane with an early chance blocked
Thanks, UWS - really appreciate it.
Morning, MUR - how are you, mate?
Morning MUR
Harry Wins his way to another Spuds corner.
How about the Pogba and Aguero news
Not good for both sides of Manchester
Good morning Everyone. Doing well, just a bit sleepy. I second what Dave said. Bob is in our thoughts this week.
Pogba is not good news at all. I had not heard about Aguero.
All Spurs pressure so far. Huddersfield are predictably hanging back and absorbing the attacks. I would hope if my Leeds boys get promoted that we wouldn't just sit back, especially at Elland Road.
I saw that the Cottagers won 1-2 in a local derby at Loftus Road yesterday. Did Kate have a hand in any of those goals.
In a car accident in Amsterdam
Broken ribs
Decent strike from Smith that Lloris had to parry away to safety.
The first attack of the match for the Terriers and Lloris is forced to push away a rocket of a long range effort.
Decent effort from the Terriers
They are staring to get some chances
Disgraceful behavior from them. Apparently they flew over to Amsterdam for a concert on Thursday night. What on earth were they doing?
That is horrible news even though we're not Citeh fans . Sad news. Thanks for the update.
ESPN are at Portman Road for the Bristol City match
then Reading hosts Norwich
An East Anglian double header
Agreed, Bob. Not sure at all.
That's an interesting selection from ESPN.
Alli with a really poor pass there. He's been rubbish this season. Not good for England.
Pep says he didn't know
Van La PArra ha s a shot blocked for a corner off a pass from Ince.
GOAL! Harry Kane, of course, wow!
ONE NIL
Kane has scored again!!!!
He better score like this for England!!!
GOAL !!!! HARRY KANE SCORES AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY, BEATING LOSSL AT THE NEAR POST.
There is no stopping HK right now. Terrible defending allows him to streak through and he beat the keeper at the near post.
Spurs 0-1 up inside ten minutes. Ominous.
He should just rest for the whole month of August and just be ready for September
I think Kane will do that for England. I'm not sure about Alli right now, though.
Dele Alli is in the England squad for next week's game but has since been banned for one game because of his flipping off incident.
Wagner will not Lowe to see that rep[lay as Lowe horribly miss judged a clearance from Lossl that was back headed and Kane was off to the race then his shot was Lossled at the near post.
He's a real moron. In this form , he wouldn't even make the cast of Kate and Alley and that bar is set really Lowe.
Kane is on five goals now; he was the GBB favorite among the PPP poll.
He's an automatic choice though
He's just another thug
Harry Kane scored seconds after the Spuds struggled to clear the corner from Aaron Mooy.
Nice pun-spinning early doors, mate.
Huddersfield are still doing well
From the BBC
He's good at this goalscoring business isn't he?
Harry Kane scores his billionth Premier League goal in eight games, I think.
Jon Champion with an interesting story about Kane's loan spell at the Orient Express. Scored here then the only red card of his career. He and the Orient Express sure have gone in opposite directions.
GOAL !!! BEN DAVIES PUTS THE SPUDS TWO UP WITH A GREAT FINISH
Two Nil
Nice goal by the Spurs
Ben Davies
GOAL! Spurs are 0-2 up. Some lovely build up play but a touch of good fortune as an intended interception ran on to Ben Davies, who tucked it away nicely.
Kane has another pop...just over
So Hudders started the match fairly well but are still two goals down in a little over fifteen minutes.
Oh - Kane nearly made it three!
Has Kane only got 5 goals?
Again, there will be no Wagner concerto as it was nice one touch passing from the SPuds and Eriksen played a pass off of Lowe that broke to Davies and he scored with a great finish.
Then Kane is inches over with a long range effort.
I think he has more, but not so sure. He didn't score in August.
Kane takes it of the keeper.... little ball hoggish there
Should have passed it
Oh, dear the keeper gave the ball to Kane. Recovered the ball well there, though. Got away with it.
The ball was Lossled by the Terriers keeper with a horrible miss kick then he made up for it with a save at the feet of Harry Kane.
He has scored a lot in the Champions League too
He's scored five in two games
Sure hope these puns are helping you, Bob.
They really are, mate. Keep 'em coming.
What about that PSG scoreline against Bayern? Cor!
When Wagner yells Lossl the Terriers players will say I know we're not winning.
Also Bayern are struggling in the Bundesliga. Is Ancelotti on borrowed time. That was a surprise.
GOAL! HK again! Wow!
STRUTH!!
THREE NIL
KANE WITH A BRACE
Take him off now and save him for England
Terrible defending again. Schindler allowed Kane to control a throw-in, turn and ran into space before launching a left footed shot into the corner. Kane is on six now.
0-3!
GOAL !!! KANE AT THE DOUBLE AS HE SCORES WITH A SPECTACULAR LONG RANGE EFFORT. HE CHESTED DOWN A THROW , MADE A 180 DEGREE TURN PAST TWO DEFENDERS THEN SCORED WITH A SPECTACULAR FINISH
Only 25 minutes gone and this one is done and dusted.
Bob, you must be delighted to see your local rivals being thrashed.
Huddersfield haven't been playing that bad but inside 23 minutes it's three nil!!
Agreed. A reality check for the Terriers , who barely got out of the starting gate at the dog track. Any bets placed on them?
The Terriers have a moment of respite with a corner.
IS everyone ready for an early start tomorrow? A noon kickoff for Bob and Steve's teams.
It's true - I've got no love for the Terriers. I also need Spurs to start climbing the table a bit.
I'm certainly ready. I'll be there with bells on.
They are third right now... just two points behind the sides from the Capital City of Football
The Terriers Lowe the fact they have won a corner.
The Yorkshire derby is on ESPN3
I suspect that Aaron Mooy is a poor man's Arjen Robben.
27 goals in 2017... has 14 more games to go
The Thug hits the post!
Lovely jubbly. I'm nervous about the match, though.
OH!!! Off the post from Alli after a nice turn
Close to a fourth goal for Spurs there.
If the Puds start winning at Wembley then they will be unstoppable.
Wednesday are on a rotten run of form
Lost midweek, lost the derby last weekend
The Blades beat Wolves to overtake Leeds as well
Don't like the top of the table right now
Evil Neil Warnock on top followed by the team he used to manage
I'm sure you would love a win at Hillsborough , of all places. Leeds sure have visits where they are discovering how the bad guys live.
It's a surprising start to the season for the Evil Blades, who are also the team Evil Neil supported as an evil bratty child. This sis ending the wrong message that it's perfectly fine to be evil Something needs to be done/
Mooy has a chance to float one in now.
Mooy looks a lot like Robben , but I think he's Aussie instead of Dutch. Learned his footie at the Citeh Academy/.
Kane has the ball in the net again - but he's ruled offside.
Harry Kane denied a hat-trick as his volleyed goal is disallowed for offside off a pass from Ben Davies. Just off.
Nice anoraking, mate. With his name, I had just assumed Mooy was Dutch.
Evil Neil host the Rams, The Evil Blades travel to Forest where we hope they get lost in the Forest, and Wolves will be watching a play at Richard Burton's house.
Cheers, mate. Probably Dutch ancestry.
Spurs at the moment are in third still two point adrift of the top two. It looks like they are scoring boatloads but are still SEVEN goals behind United and ELEVEN behind City
United need to catch up from last week's four goal swing in the GD category. IT'S OUR TURN TO PLAY PALACE
5Live having a fitness test before the match today
United have all of a sudden been hit by an injury bug
A lot are hurting
The Spuds are not scoring too many goals at Wembley. That's horrible news for United.
Jon Champion points out that Spurs have built this side largely through the youth academy scheme. I do believe that Kane, Alli, Davies, Dier and Winks are all home-grown.
Right now the top four are the top four I picked except for United topping City
Now I need Lukaku to score a few and be top of those charts and I will be way up there in the standings
Oh - off the bar from De Poitre. Unlucky!
I think Red Dragon had the same top four but had Kane
The Terriers nearly pull one back as they are not able to Depoitre the ball in the back of the net. A solo break was led and a long range effort skimmed off the top of the bar.
You've got a real chance this weekend. Of course, you'll be hoping to score hatfuls against woeful Palace today. And a draw between Chelski and Citeh seems likely.
I have a feeling that the PPP table will be constantly changing throughout the course of the season.
Good point, Bob. That would be ideal for us. Hopefully, Palace don;t score their first goal of the season.
Of course, I picked Watford to go down... they could get into the Champions League positions today
A minute of stoppage time.
Let's hope Lukaku is okay
He is a doubt
A minute of stoppage to come. Wagner has some sorting out to do in the dressing room. He'll need to compose a real opera in order to send them out right in the second half.
Half time
A stroll for the Spurs
The Spuds are three up at the half at the John Smith's
BOOM BOOM, BOB.
Spurs go in three goals to the good. Crikey!
I am watching this now... Very interesting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hOaSFP3n0A
What are you watching?
We are off again in Hudders
I am still watching the link
The second half is underway
Just finishing up the defenders
Will the strikers be next???
You guys should watch it
Frantic defending from the Terriers that eventually leads to a corner. It started with a shot from Kane that was blocked off a pass from eriksen
Back on for the second half now after washing some dishes. Spurs right back at it, I see.
The corner from Eriksen was headed on by Dier and just eluded Kane./
seven players have been picked
Keeper, defenders and two wide men
How many United players?
Welcome back, Bob. The Spuds up Three Lowe , who made two defensive errors, which is a double fault.
For England. Possibly Rash, Jonesey, Lindy , and maybe Smalling.
Trippier down off a challenge from Tom Ince. Seemed unintentional.
That opera from Wagner must feel like a soap opera in W Yorkshire and like a concerto in parts of N London.
Watching UWS' link right now as Kieran Trippier gets some treatment.
Good... Alli gets in the book!!
Delle Alli showing both sides of him. He did well to get past Schindler then guilty of a horrible dive for which he was deservedly booked.
Alli is booked for a ridiculous dive.
It's cheating not playacting. He has learned that diving is an Olympic sport.
Was he watching the Fosbury Flop? If so , he has a long way to go.
Scott Malone on for a defender, who will Lowe to see the back of this match and Robben's stunt double replaced by a player who is not Top Billing if he's on the subs bench.
I would have changed a few on the starting 11... especially. in the middle of the park
Very interesting discussion, mate. Thanks for the clip.
I would have had more Leeds players, of course.
Why is that, Bob?
Kachunga deservedly booked for nasty foul on Vertonghen.
Not surprisingly, Spurs have taken their foot off the gas. Of course, Kane would love a second hat-trick in a week but three goals and three points will be plenty enough for Potch.
Because I have a well-known LUFC bias. ;-)
Mo Po not pleased. He wants more!
That's what I thought , mate. Any room for Evil Neil as part of that staff?
Credit to the Terriers fans for supporting their team even though this match is done and dusted.
Rob Green on the Terriers? Will he play in the Prem this season?
Have you watched the whole team?
Anyone you would drop and add... apart from the Elland Road lot
Watch it yet MUR?
Dier has a shot deflected for a corner off a corner.
Not yet. I guess it's time.
Again, I pretty much agree with most of the picks apart from the middle two
I probably would have dropped both the middle two
This result will leave Spurs in third, slightly above Chelski now, and Huddersfield in tenth.
It's on now.
I don't rate that Ronaldo fella for starters. ;-)
ALAN Hansen retiring from MOTD
United's line up just announce
De Gea
Valencia
Smalling
Jones
Young
Matic
Fellaini
Mata
Miki
Rashford
Lukaku
Bench
Romero
Bailly
Martial
Lingard
Blind
Herrera
Darmian
Other than Pogba missing, a strong United lineup.
Of course, the whole team could have been United players!
Big Dane
Nev
Rio
Vidic
Irwin
Ronny
Keane
Scholes
Giggs
Cantona
Rooney
On the bench
Becks
Cole
Yorke
Solskjaer
Sherringham
Van Nistelroy
Of course
Vandersar and De Gea on the bench too
I'm watching and they're going for left back
That's a great bench. Schmeichel faces some stiff competition.
A change apiece. Hogg is replaced by Whitehead, while Trippier makes way for Walker-Peters.
Surely you missed out Forlan? ;-)
Is that Kyle Walker or Martin Peters?
Oh - Sissoko had a chance to notch the fourth. The keeper saved with his feet.
Sissy straight at Lossl then the rebound is cleared.
Kane makes way before he gets his hat-trick. Number One Son on in his stead.
A standing ovation for Harry Kane as the Spuds's number one son is replaced by Number One Son.
Into stoppage time. A trio of minutes.
Four nil... Sissoko with a deflected effort
Nice play by Spurs
GOAL! Spurs do get their fourth. Sissoko will claim it, although it took a heavy deflection.
0-4!
GOAL !!! SISSY PUTS THE SPUDS FOUR UP WITH A DEFLECTED EFFORT. A GREAT RUN BY WINKS , PLAYED IT OUT WIDE TO BEN DAVIES AND HIS PASS WAS PUT AWAY BY SISSY.
Sissy's first Prem goal for the Spuds?
That's it as the Terriers are hit for four without replay. They were not at the races today
Game over
Easy picking for the North Londoners
Up next...UNITED!
Off to the shower before the 10 o'clockers.
Teams coming out of the tunnel at OT
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Please don't score your first goal of the season today please
Just wait until Chelsea after the break
We are off!!
They're off from OT!
United attacking the Stretford End in the first half
Score early
Score often
We need to even up for last week
Hoping Palace go lucky seven matches without scoring. Would that be a dubious record?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MATA!!!!!!!!!!
Great job by Rashford
Back for the goalfest at OT - I'll predict a 6-0.
And goal! Mata scores like it doesn't mata - 1-0 United!
WAY HAY!!! JUST A MATA OF TIME BEFORE UNITED WOULD SCORE AGAINST THE SE MUGS EASY! PEASY
UNITED ARE ON TOP!!!
That didn't take long at all. So, that's no goals scored and 14 goals conceded in seven matches for Roy Hodgson's outfit this season.
Like I said, Easy Peasy. Jones played it out wide to Yash, who found Rash by the left corner flag . He turned Joe Ward inside and out then his pass was tapped in at the far post just a Mata of minutes into the match
Woy wasn't around for the first four, but it's a dubious record.
I heard Palace are going to the beach . Going to Manchester by the Sea of Goals on consecutive weekends . Can that be?
Yash fouls Joe Ward just outside the United. box. Sakho heads wide from the free kick from Cabaye.
UWS posted the United set-up already but for what it's worth here are the full teams:
Man Utd: de Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Young, Matic, Fellaini, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Lukaku. Subs: Bailly, Martial, Lingard, Blind, Romero, Ander Herrera, Darmian.
Crystal Palace: Hennessey, Ward, Sakho, Delaney, Van Aanholt, Milivojevic, Cabaye, Townsend, Puncheon, Schlupp, Sako. Subs: Speroni, Lee, McArthur, Ladapo, Mutch, Kelly, Riedewald.
Referee: Mike Dean.
Boom boom, MUR - what's your prediction of the score-line?
I'm sticking with my 6-0 prediction.
I love that United are ATTACKING!!!
Good job, Bob./
